Quilt does not know or even understand why he has to purchase toys for his charge. Everyone in the household had been informed of Magda's condition, that she is physically an infant. Not mentally.

She didn't need to be brought to the museum -though it did result in meeting a fellow exiled alien so it wasn't a complete loss- and she certainly doesn't need toys to keep her amused. Why couldn't he just present her a ream of paper or books? Mismatched eyes looked down into the pram (it's his adopted sister's fault that he even knew the word) at the smugly grinning baby staring at the looming infrastructure of the mall.

"You are allowed to choose only one toy." Quilt told her, "And if you keep your hands and all the rest of your bodypart to yourself I might consider giving you two. We shall go through the store twice and then you shall pick. Any questions?"

Magda fixed her gray eyes at her guardian and while she intended to respond wtih What makes you think I'm gonna listen to you? only babbling emerged.

"I shall take that as a no." Quilt nodded, ignoring the angry glare from the carrot-topped child with a smirk of his own.

Ajiiel, of course, did not need toys. She was a former treasure hunter! But, something about them appealed and so the girl found herself perusing the store anyhow. Ostensibly in search of shiny jewelry things.

The shiny jewelry things section, though, consisted mostly of plastic and floofy dress-up dresses and things that didn't really interest her because they weren't really shiny enough, and so when the man and little girl entered the shop, she took their presence as a welcome distraction.

"How come she's stuck in that stroller thing?"

Quilt wasn't certain whom the young lady was talking to but a quick glance at his surroundings led him to assume the question was directed at him. "Because she's more fussy when you carry her in your arms." he explained.

Magda blew a raspberry at the white-haired man before turning to fix her gaze on the older girl. Despite lacking the ability for articulation, the pale infant's eyes showed an intelligence that didn't coincide with her juvenile form. She gave Ajiiel a curious look and pointed at the scales on the older girl's skin, "'Eety!" she declared, paying a compliment.

Ajiiel preened visibly at the compliment,
"Thank you, little girl!" she brushed a strand of hair behind one ear and knelt down to look at her,
"But, can't she just walk on her own?" she asked the other. She seemed to have forgotten that there was a time when she as well could not be mobile without the help of another. Of course, she'd always been carried around because Shiori couldn't risk people leaning down to look at her and getting bitten.

Magda immediately reached out to get a feel of the older girl's scales. She cooed in appreciation; mostly out of nostalgia for her old life even if her "punishment" wasn't that bad. Lack of mobility and verbal communication aside having a large family was proving quite interesting and fun for the former Population Control Practitioner.

Quilt blinked, unsure if Ajiiel was serious in her question. Certainly most infants on Gaia did not stay in their small forms for long but they were, as far as he knew, not physically capable.

"No..." he answers, a little uncertainly, "She can't stand on her own without assistance." he added.

Again Magda shot her guardian a glare, she disliked having her shortcomings pointed out. Especially in front of complete strangers. "No mo' 'akin'!" she ordered before turning to Ajiiel and pointed to herself, "Ma'da."

Ajiiel blinked. Oh yeah. Baby. Can't walk,
"Well that sucks, doesn't it?" she asked the little one, nice enough to not smack the girl's hand away when she reached out for her arm.

"I'm Ajiiel" she assumed the "Ma'da" was the girl's name, "I come from Outer Space! Or, I did. I used to be a bounty hunter...." why was she telling this kid this stuff? Oh well. She couldn't get arrested here! "And a treasure hunter."

Magda nodded at the sentiment, there were a multitude of things that sucked while she was in such a helpless form. Though there were benefits. Namely the attention, oh how she loved being fussed over at home! She wasn't aware of the privilage Ajiiel had given her by not swatting her hand away, though. Still, she liked running her small, chubby fingers over the older girl's arm.

Ignoring his charge's order to let her do the talking, Quilt introduced them to the young girl "Nice to meet you, Ajiiel. I'm Quilt and this is Magda."

Both guardian and infant took a keen interest when Ajiiel mentioned that she came from outer space. Though they both also had to remind themselvs of the chances they'd run into another alien exiled onto Gaia. "Magda here came from space as well, except she was some sort of doctor."

Magda rolled her gray eyes, "No! Was!" she pouted, sort nothing! She was a doctor, granted one who was in the business of ending life but it was culturally acceptable and therefor had no moral implications.

Ajiiel nodded politely. Doctors were boring. She'd never been to one before she came to Gaia, and afterwards had found that she really didn't enjoy it that much. Definitely something she preferred to avoid.

"So I guess you didn't land that long ago, if you're still stuck as a baby. I hated being a baby, myself," if they were from outer space of -course- they were from it the same way she was. After all, everything revolved around Ajiiel.

Quilt took Ajiiel's response into consideration, he wasn't very good in guessing what Magda did or did not like. Perhaps someone who could relate to the adult-in-infant's-body would be of more help especially in this endeavor?

"Would you mind helping us out? I was required to purchase a toy for Magda to keep her mentally stimulated during the duration of her infancy. But I don't think it would be appropriate if I were seen with a toy that was not suitable for her physically age-wise." He asked.

Magda quirked a brow at her guardian, was he going to suggest what she thinks he's going to suggest?

Ajiiel tilted her head curiously,
"What did you have in mind?" she knew what -she- would like, but then her guardian never would've given them to her when she was a baby, because she might choke on them or something if she put them in her mouth. Like she was stupid enough to choke on things.

"Would you possibly accompany us into the toy store to act as a sort of "cover" for age-appropriate toys?" Quilt asked, "Magda wouldn't be happy with any of the toys for infants her age but I don't think it would appear socially acceptable if I purchased the kind for older children."

Magda cocked her head, as if considering her guardian's offer. It made sense to the former-doctor, yes, she could go along with that. All that was left was to have Ajiiel agree. "'Leeeeeeeeease?" she pleaded to the older girl.

The black-haired girl wandered into the store, followed by her currently hot pink-haired guardian.
(It didn't help that the eighteen-year-old was wearing an orange t-shirt with black cats on it with a pair of black knee-length leggings, although that was simply Umbra having different taste.)

Ah, the trials and tribulations of having a metamorphagus for a guardian. Every day you either wandered out and found her new hair color, or the fact she suddenly had rainbow eyes.

"Miiizore, can I get-"
"No."
"Buuttttt..."
"No."
"But I need Scribblenauts! Longcat kills god, Miz! Isn't that awesome?"
"Umb, you're not getting the DS game, you got Pokemon this month already."
"But I NEED it!" the former criminal retorted, pouting, her earwings dipping down and ears pointed back.

Mizore shook her head and sighed, her youngish-looking features seeming odd in that position. "Hey, little help here?" she called over to the pair of...hmm. Another former criminal, looked odd enough.
The other probably was, which left one (responsible?) adult.
"She doesn't know how to deal with the fact that she already got her game for the month."
