((An AIM log between Gin (me) and Safi (T'Poi) ))
Gin’gii lifted his head from the water hole after drinking his fill. Smiling to himself the wild dog glanced around not seeing anyone in the immediate vicinity. It was a shame really, it was a beautiful day, nota cloud in the sky. He would have liked to be able to enjoy it with someone, anyone. Oh well, he could always see the maned wolf that lived nearby, or he could explore on his own. He just had to be sure not to stray too far away from his cave on his own, he didn’t want to get lost again; last time he went off too far it took him an entire day to find his way back. Chuckling at his forgetfulness he turned away from the water hole and padded across the Savannah, on the look out for anyone mildly interesting.
Safi was out collecting again, keeping an eye out for anything that Lela might be able to use in her crafting. He tended to have a good eye for such things...he and Pich. But his blue and gray daughter had stayed at home today, instead helping her sister. He'd already found quite a few things and stuffed them in the bag slung across his back. It was quiet, and peaceful and...He stopped and blinked.
Was there another creature out here? He grinned. Wonderful! He liked meeting new creatures! Trotting towards whoever it was, he chuckled. "Hullo stranger!"
Gin, not being the smartest wild dog in the pack, never thought to keep a look out for anyone who might be behind him. So he was pleasantly startled when he heard a voice call out from that general direction. Turning he grinned at the yellow wild dog, padding over to him. ”Hey there!” Stopping not too far from him he smiled tilting his head slightly. ”Nice day, isn’t it? My name’s Gin’gii.” His brown tail wagged happily, his ever present red grin on his maw. ”Who might you be?” The wild dog noticed the bag that was on the other’s back and was curious as to what it was for, but he didn’t press the matter just yet. He thought it’d be best to learn the other’s name before pelting him with questions.
Safi nodded at the dog who met him halfway. "Nice ta meet ya, Gin'gii! I'm Safi'mmoja!" His tail decided to wag rather quickly, always happy at meeting someone new. "It is a very nice day! Not a cloud to darken the skies, and the sun seems cheerier than ever!" He was obviously in as bright a mood as his coat. "Do ya live around here, or are ya just traveling?" Maybe they had a new neighbor! Well...at least until they started traveling. Neighbors were good!
”Likewise!” Gin grinned and then nodded, agreeing that the day was indeed quite pleasant. He couldn’t help but be happy on days like this. It was the rainy days that made him feel dreary and depressed. Going outside on rainy days never ended up well, nobody liked a wet coat, so he usually just spent them inside his cave all on his lonesome. Catching Safi’s question Gin nodded and turned looking in the direction of his cave which was just barely visible.”Yep! I live right over there.” Glancing back towards the other wild dog he smiled. ”Do you live around here as well?”
Safi nodded brightly. "I do! About a half day..." He looked around, regaining his bearings quickly, and pointed a paw towards where the sun generally set. "That way! Me and my family!" He grinned. "Somehow, I ended up with a BIG family! Though not as big as the one I was born into." He chuckled. "And one of my daughters loves making things, so I help her out by finding stuff for her to use."
Half a day? Gin couldn’t even imagine traveling half a day away from his home all by himself. He’d never make it back! At the mention of family Gin cocked his head to the side, he didn’t have a family. He used to have his parents but they died, a long time ago and since then he’d been alone. He wouldn’t mind being a part of a family, with someone to love. Oh well, for now he was okay on his own. ”Oh, I wish I could make things. I’m a bit of a clutz though, I tend to break things I find.”
Safi chuckled again, this time a bit sheepishly. "I'm kinda the same. Another of my daughters too. We both seem to be rather...uh...accident-prone. And I used to get lost a LOT." Was how he'd gotten separated from his parents and siblings. "But...not anymore! I got lost so much I just started...well...getting unlost!" If that made any sense to anyone but himself...He hoped it made sense.
Gin’gii chuckled, it was nice to know he wasn’t alone in his clutziness. The wild dog tilted his head a bit at the other’s words trying to make sense of them. It took him a moment but he managed it. ”Really? I get lost all the time too! I never tried getting so lost I was unlost though…maybe next time I should try that.” He grinned, tail still wagging a mile a minute.
"Well...I wouldn't try it if you've got someone at home. They'd probably worry...a lot." He knew Fiyali worried when he traveled a lot...he couldn't imagine what would happen if he got lost again! And he hated making Fiyali sad or worried. She and the pups were his world.
”Ah, well lucky for me there’s no one to worry about me if I did get too lost.” He grinned, that was Gin, always turning a negative into a positive. He figured his maned wolf friend would worry over where he went to if he was gone for more than a few days but other than that the brown wild dog was alone in the world.
Safi blinked. All alone? That sucked! Safi remembered his days of wandering alone...and he never wanted to return to that. He'd taken to being around others like a fish to water! "Well...if you want someone to go with you, someday...I could accompany you? Or my family? We're going to start wandering ourselves soon. Looking for my birth family, mostly..."
Gin perked up a bit at the offer, he supposed it could be nice to have other wild dogs to wander with, he’d been alone for so long he didn’t really remember how it felt to be part of a group. Smiling he nodded, ”I might just take you up on that offer some day.” He remembered the green wild dog female he had met not so long ago and thought that maybe he’d hold off on the wandering. He might have found a new friend in her and didn’t want to just up and disappear.
Safi grinned. "Awesome! You'd certainly be welcome! My whole family is friendly!" Some were a bit rough 'n' tumble...but they were sweet nonetheless. "Maybe you'll stop by sometime...or we could come visit you?"
The brown wild dog grinned ”That’s good!” He nodded paws shifting in the dirt underneath them. ”I’d love for you and your family to visit. My cave’s always open to company.” He yipped happily. ”And if I can find you guys without getting lost I’d love to come and visit.” He laughed a bit, he could see himself getting lost.
Safi nodded. "Awesome!" He bounced a bit excitedly. "Well...I gotta go! Need ta finish my looking for the day, and then Fiyali and I are going to work with the pups on their hunting again!" He loved teaching them...and he liked being applauded for being a good hunter. It was good to have others look up to you, even a little.
Gin couldn’t help but bounce a bit as well, it seemed the excitedness was rubbing off on him. ”Alright, good look with the looking and the hunting!” He grinned wagging his tail. ”And it was nice meeting you.” The mention of hunting made him realize that he hadn’t hunted yet today and he was getting hungry. So with a smile still on his maw he turned and padded off to go and find something to eat.
