well, I kept tellin myself I would find another one and get back to my roots, so when I found this beauty for 2800 bucks I could NOT pass it up. this puts my plan to supercharge the sol on hold for a while, but its worth it. picked up this 1987 Toyota Corolla GTS on friday. exterior could use some work, but its bearable. the chassis has 305k on it, the motor has 160k and pulls STRONG. the interior, except for the dash and steering wheel, are IMMACULATE. well, the rear seat headrests are fading a little, but this is the first hachi I've seen where it isnt totally ripped to hell already. (most hachis dont even have rear seats...damn kids) stock GTS 'snowflake' meshie wheels. never seen them in person before. wow. never been drifted or abused, only mods to it are NGK spark plug wires and Tokico blue shocks.     it's gonna be a while...but this new project is gonna be fun. especially now that since this is my second AE86, I know ALOT more about them, and I know more of what I'm doing. unfortunately, no LSD installed, but I'll change that later.

How does the hatch open? I can't see the lines where it lifts, or is it a coupe with a "trunk?"
Also, you autocross with the Del Sol, so why would you want to add more front end weight with power that's just going to overwhelm the tires even more on autocross tracks? Or are you planning to stop 'crossing with the Del Sol?

Very nice. Don't forget to slap those Fujiwara Tofu stickers on there there for that authentic feel. mrgreen
I always thought those cars were ugly when I was younger, but after seeing them in "new" condition in video games and stuff, they're nice, all the ones around here are trashed, though.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a beauty too! You going to put a Levin front end on the front? I think it'll look better since its a coupe. And if I where you I'd swap out those snowflake wheels and have them restored and put in a corner under some plastic. Also you gonna drift this one, or just set it up for fast driving? In the mean time I want to see the following on the car ASAP. I don't care how you do it, just do it.  * Origional Sakura's are preffered, but replica's are acceptable. Then I want a Levin Conversion with an appropriate body kitt with wide wheel arches, and a two tone paint job.  Also, since its a coupe, I want an apropriatly sized rear wing. But no Carbonfiber! We're doing this old school! (If you want Carbon, then paint it. I don't want to see any weave!) Here is an example, but we'll fit ours better. [ FYI, you are also required to do turbo conversion, you may choose the head you want to use, but I'm preferable to the 20valve out of a SW20 MR2. I'll leave the suspension up to you, but I don't want the back end to be too loose. A four point roll cage, buckets and a nardi are needed on the inside. I have declared that I now also own the car and hereby decree that you are FORBIDDEN to sell this car unless, A) You have my total concent (in writing), B) you are selling it to me; or C) You're swapping it for a RWD Alfa Romeo. n_______n

oh wow. give me a chance to keep up guys haha.
@ Millefune: whatcha mean overpower the front? it would be PERFECT for autocross, I need more low end power. remember, single cam. oh, and its a coupe. not a hatchback. too many kids out there with the hatchback...all trying to be like Tak from Initial D. it makes me sick. and they want like 6000 for them.
@ Chaos: rofl. guess you never saw my old pics of my first one? I had the fujiwara tofu shop sticker on there for halloween. and i got bored and painted the hood black. I ended up just rattlecan-ing the whole thing afterwards.
@ Panda: Not gonna drift it. I had my fun with the first one i had, that one had stock LSD, this one doesnt. and if i was able to find those Sakura's in a nice -15 offset, for under 2,000 USD, i would hella get them. i've always wanted them. But I think some Watanabe's or Panasports will look nice. and YES I will be going Levin like I was going to last time. Its gonna have to be panda paint scheme, and yeah probably going with the j-blood kit...but possibly a Chockets front bumper. I have some older AE92 (88-91) corolla GTS sideskirts, but they require some modification. AND I'm bugging my coworker to trade me his Levin white-line tails from his SR5 coupe.
oh and Panda, the SW20 never had a 20valve... the silver and blacktop 4A-GE came from the AE101 and AE111 Levin and Trueno.
SW20 had the (you guessed it, thanks to the model designation) 3S-G(T)E

Damn, looks clean! I've always wanted to pick up a hatchi. No clean hatchi's on the east coast though........
I'm too picky anyways. I like the idea of the hatch more than the coupe though.
What are your plans for the car?

I like the idea of the hatch more than the coupe though. What are your plans for the car? right now my plans for the Hachi are just a full restoration project. I'm debating whether or not to do a Trueno or Levin front end conversion...but for now, just going to take care of the rust and all that. get the wheels cleaned up a bit. you guys will be kept up to speed
