I found out that my aunt has sent me quite a bit of cash for my birthday. She said it's for my birthday, but I know, underlying, that they're merely trying to help me and my situation. As such, I know that I should put all that money into the things that my mother broke.
However, more than ever, I feel a need to get myself something -- especially on my birthday. I never buy anything on my birthday; I never expected anyone to give me anything since I was fifteen. As such, usually the day passes as just another day, except with people being kind to you.
So... I'm not sure what to do with it... If I talked to my psychologist, however, he'd most likely tell me to do either one, because they're both helpful to me.

I say get yourself something nice. You deserve it.
There will be time to replace things, which I know you will, but right now you should treat yourself to something you really want. It's good for you to pamper yourself and it seems to me it's high time you do something nice for yourself.

I agree with Thaliat, I don't think you spoil yourself enough Lin. You always seemed to be worried about family stuff lately and well... I think you need to give yourself a major treat! I'd suggest buying all the ice cream, chocolate and candy you could afford but that more the kind of treat I would get myself....

Tell me, exactly what does freedom mean...
Well, as I've said before, I don't know your situation, but I would suggest that you spend a bit on yourself. If you haven't had a decent B-day since you were 15 ( Once again, I don't know much about you, so I don't know how long ago that was) That's kinda screwed up. I suggest you take at least part of the money and have fun with it.
...if I'm not free to be as twisted as I want to be?

I've been sort of raised to not expect things like that anymore at a certain age... So... I just never thought of getting gifts anymore, or having cake, or having a party, no matter how small. But right now I want a party, and presents, and cake, and people here.
It's so bad; I'm at work right now and I'm crying a bit. I'm just glad there are no customers right now.

Well, I think you should do it. If it's what you want, and it won't set you back financially then do it.

AR-15 mags.
Think I'm joking? A year or two from now they'll be double in price from what they are now. Then you sell them and double your investment.
Or, you could buy something you enjoy having.

Go for the Party dude!! Really enjoy yourself smile Save a little of it and use the rest for the party. My mate spent his on Tea-Bag's and Sweet's so whatever you do... It won't be as bad as that smile

I'm a big fan of the spoil yourself option smile You could buy some cupcakes, grab a cd, and hang out over at a friend's house. Insta-party cool

Well... knowing something of your situation (I *do* pay attention, believe it or not...) wink , I'd say to get something nice and splurge-y, and then put the rest aside for family/survival/etc. stuffs. smile
And Alaris' suggestion is a good idea, too, and wouldn't make much of a dent in the budget. (Especially if you and/or a friend made the cupcakes.) mrgreen

I am not a Mod but I am a regular and will always answer if you ask =] Lol, it's the player not the yoyo.
But some pros of buying a cheap yoyo.
-cheap -enjoyment that goes everywhere -good for killing downtime -makes people reminisce -etc. etc.
Lol, do what you want Lin. I'm sure whatever it is you do will make you happy because you will have put some thought in it as you always seem to do. Unlike me.
