Waterside Den

Hidden deep inside the forest is where Paige and her Kyn dwell. Here the cave mouth is filled with rushing rapid water, fed from a stream coming down the mountain. Large Kyn, like Japanese, European, and Gargoyles, must use the water-filled entrance. The chilly water is usually enough of a deterrant to the other forest's residents. To the right of the cave entrance is where Paige and younger kyn dragons may enter, through natural stairs and into a human dwelling area that fades into the larger rooms fit for adult Kyn.
Scent marks, warning other dragons that this territory is claimed, stake out the boundaries of what Shinju considers his forest. Some of the younger dragons have obvious trails of scent scattering the area as well, even if they bow their head to the prince of their clan. Kaaruni's are the most prevailent of these, as she is the one most often patroling the area on foot.

The Surrounding Area & the Cave Itself
The forest outside of the cave is thick with underbrush, providing ample cover for the many prey items that dwell in the area. Some of what is hunted by the Clan include rabbits and deer. Because of the fertility and easy access to food that the forest provides, it is often entered by ferals who attempt to stake their own claim.
The dragon's watery entrance into the cave, which is deceptively deep. There are points where even large, adult Kyn are forced to tred water. This is a strategic defense point that not only keeps out the other forest dwellers, but feral Kyn as well. Anyone attempting to enter would alert anyone within the caves of their approach as their splashes echoed off the cave walls.
The living room, which is large enough for a full grown to sit in, has one skylight overhead that it large enough for even a Japanese adult to thrust his head in from the outside. It is not, however, large enough for most adult Kyn to fit through. One of the straight paths leads to the watery entrance tunnel, while the path slightly to the left of the drop off is where Paige and smaller Kyns enter into the cave. The drop off plummets deep into the earth and has little natural light penetrating so deep. With some effort the Clan has etched a sloping, circular path down into the depths to create rooms to accomodate their growing numbers.
From the living room a small bridge over the last remnants of the watery entrance leads to Paige's private rooms. Obviously, the entrance to these are too small for a large, adult Kyn to fit through. Paige's room is more furnished than the rest of the cave, though everything is basic necessity. She has taken the time to carve and widdle the bedposts into intricate designs of Kyn in flight, twisting and flaming amidst each other. There is a small series of nesting alcoves where Hakuryu and his small offspring, as well as any hatchlings, sleep. Hakuryu and Nishi are the only permanent residents to the room besides Paige, and even Nishi has her own room.

Paige Kendarian16 year old Paige recieved her first kyn from Kahyou's flatsale - the pearl Japanese male named Shinju. She has a crush on Akemi's bonded, Elijah, which is shown through her kyns' actions towards his kyn. Paige is a little shy about meeting new people, and that shyness has induced Kaaruni to be very protective of her. She lives with her kyns as opposed to in a home nearby, and is completely comfortable around them in comparison with her actions around other people. ShinjuPaige's first kyn, and therefore the prince of the clan, Shinju was a very rambunctious hatchling. Luckily, he calmed down as he grew older. Shinju is really tolerant of hatchlings and other kyns around Paige, unlike when he was little. He has a slight romantic interest in Akemi, and gets along very well with her. HakuryuPaige's second kyn, Hakuryu is the smallest of the kyns in his adult form, able to sit comfortably on Paige's shoulder. He is very jealous at times of the other kyns, especially of Shinju. He tends to be picked on a lot by Banshou, yet would never back down to the younger male under any circumstance. He, too, has a slight romantic interest in Akemi, and gets along well with his offspring Nishi. He is rather indifferent to Kaaruni, and Asayake treats him with great care because of his small size (which he despises at times and loves at others). KaaruniFrom the first flatsale of lunar kyns, Paige recieved her first female kyn. Kaaruni was a rambunctious, over-protective pup that had a habit of scaring others. She still has that habit, and her over-protective streak. Being smaller than most of the other kyn that are bonded to Paife, Kaaruni tends to be aloof around them. Banshou really enjoys shoving her around, and she typically will just walk away from his torments. Kaaruni is very mothering to Paige now, making sure that the young girl doesn't miss her meals or forget to do her studies. BanshouShinju and Akemi's son, Banshou thinks he's the biggest, the best, and the prince. That is until Shinju kicks him back into his place. Banshou bullies around Nishi, Kaaruni, and Hakuryu - being that they really are smaller, but is often chastised by his sister Asayake for his actions. He doesn't stick around the den much, but prefers to wander off on his own. Asayake is usually not far ahead of or behind her brother, as she seems to have made it her personal mission to protect him from getting into trouble - which he finds very often and with an uncanny sixth sense. AsayakeBanshou's sister from the same clutch, Asayake is a very sweet-tempered kyn with a loving personality. She gets along wonderfully with Nishi and just about every other kyn. She's slightly smaller than her brother, but she is much more acrobatic once airborne. Asayake is also very outgoing, and sociable. NishiThe smallest kyn in the family, Nishi is Hakuryu and Akemi's daughter from a clutch of four. She is harassed by Banshou, but this little one doesn't back down from the big galute. She often perches on Paige's shoulder -the one her father doesn't use- and tends to get along with the other kyn well. Her and Kaaruni seem to have a silent understanding and friendship, even if Nishi will chat almost nonstop with Asayake. RashtaPrideful, boastful, and a complete chicken when it comes down to it, Rashta is considered the joke of the clan. He doesn't seem to notice this, however, and still thinks he's the prettiest thing out there. Paige usually has to urge her other kyn to be nice to him. ZarebA loner by nature, Zareb tends to be outside eighty percent of the time hunting. Unlike Kaaruni, he avoids most contact with other kyn and speaks very rarely. He cannot use his mental bond to speak to Paige, as he was bonded to her when he was already an adult, but she does receive his feelings and emotions rather strongly. Zareb has only been known to speak to Paige and to no one else in the family. KyanHatched and grown while Paige, Shinju, and Zareb were away from home in the kyn tournament, Kyan has the most receded personality of the clan. He used to see Hakuryu and Kaaruni as his parents, but when Paige returned from the fight he was sadly put aside in order for them to have time to heal. Although everyone tried to reconcile, Kyan never really bonded to Paige and continues to be a loner of the group. AiAi grew up alongside of Denkou and Raijin, while Paige, Shinju, and Zareb were healing. So she grew up as being an extra pair of hands to help out around the house. She's very concerned about her family members, but has a tom-boyish streak that comes out at times. She's especially adept at catching fish. DenkouProud, yet not conceited, Denkou shows a strong loyalty to the clan and her family. She learned respect by being there when her clan leader and her human needed her. She, like Ai and Raijin, grew up in perhaps a harder time. Unlike the majority of the clan, however, she does not see a reason to worry about the outsiders like Kyan and Rashta. If they don't want to contribute to the family, then why should she watch their backs? RaijinOne of the more prissy of Paige's kyn, Denkou sees himself as being the most striking lad out there. He doesn't enjoy hunting for himself, but doesn't mind giving a good solid whack with his electric tail to anyone that would go so far as to doubt him. Despite this, he has a strong attachment to the family and a strong sense of duty because he grew up taking care of Shinju, Paige, and Zareb. VirikaAt half the size of a normal Lunar kyn, Virika is able to get into and out of trouble fairly easily - and boy does she enjoy getting into trouble! As the youngest kyn in the family right now, she wants to make sure that everyone knows who she is and what she's up to. At all hours of the day and night - much to the chagrin of everyone else. She's a small ball of energy, and although she does joke around, most of what she does it harmless fun. FitziFriends & Enemies - Elijah: male human, Akemi's bonded - Akemi: adult female Japanese kyn, colored like the sunset; has mated with and bore clutches for both Shinju and Hakuryu - Lorne: adult male European kyn, belonging to Ganon - Tranduil: adult male Eastern kyn, belonging to Mararan - Dahn Tau: adult male Lunar kyn, of lion fish alteration; belonging to KiiMeLwi - Nariel: adult female European kyn, belongnig to Mararan - Jaswinder: adult female European kyn, natural lightning elemental, belonging to Mararan - poke mattix: female human, Taku's bonded - Taku: adult male Lunar kyn, belonding to poke mattix - Weaver: adult female Japanese kyn, belonging to Kesmi, bred once to Hakuryu - Falke: adult female lunar kyn, belonging to GanonFirenight, bred once to Hakuryu - Tare: adult male Japanese kyn, belonging to Ganon Firenight; mated to Asayake - Ozzy: adult male Japanese kyn, belonging to poke mattix; Vibrant Red Heart to Denkou
Elijah - Akemi's bonded, he is a good friend of Paige's and is generally liked by the kyns, bar Shinju's occasional jealous streak against him. Akemi - Bonded to Elijah, she and Shinju hit it off rather roughly when they were little, but they grew on each other to eventually have a clutch. Akemi is the only kyn Shinju has ever mated to, but Akemi has mated with other kyns afterwards. Lorne - Asayake seems to treat the overgrown little one with a spark of playfulness and motherly affection, while Banshou would much rather be sunbathing than playing around with him. Although quite frightened by his size at first, Nishi has taken considerable pity to the large kyn with a seemingly small mind. Kaaruni seems more than a little put-off by his clumsiness. Tranduil - Nishi is quite taken with the larger male, even if her sister Kaaruni seems to believe he's just blowing hot air. Shinju and Paige both respect him for his fighting ability and his kindness towards their clan. Dahn Tau - If one didn't know Kaaruni, it might be easy to see that she has a bit of a crush on the male Lunar. Nishi thinks he's silly, but respects his sense of pride to a degree. Shinju, as well, respects his pride but seems distant to him. Hakuryu doesn't really seem to notice him either way. Paige is happy to see her Lunar interested in another kyn, especially since Dahn Tau is very sweet to her. Nariel - Paige always seems a little embarassed around the shy female, especially since her first meeting she woke her up by accident. Jaswinder - Hakuryu tried very hard to impress this one, and finally did. His efforts were, uhm, rewarded with the two balls of energy called Denkou and Raijin. poke mattix - Paige and Zareb fought her in the kyn tournament, and although Paige feels sorry for poke mattix, Zareb holds not an ounce of that sentiment. Fighting is fighting, and there will be a loser as far as he's concerned. Taku - Zareb does not look kindly to this Lunar, seeing him as an opponent and someone to protect his human from. Weaver - There was never really a relationship between Hakuryu and Weaver, more in line with an attempt to shrug off the stress of the absence of the clan prince and bonded Falke - Hakuryu and Falke had a similar relationship as Weaver and Hakuryu. Tare - Ozzy -

Role-Play Log Banshou and Asayake Meet Lorne at the Kyn Park GanonFirenight It was not long before Lorne could fly by himself, and the now-fledgling European Kyn flew to the park unaccompanied a few weeks later. He looked around, flicking his tail, hoping someone would come play with him. The rest of the flight was back at the caves, and he so badly wished to meet someone new. Waarufu A yellow blur, twisting and turning in mid-air acrobatics, appeared as a spec on the horizon. The wingless adult Japanese kyn landed at the edge of the forest, where the plains began. He shook out his silvery mane and stretched his talons into the soft earth before lumbering towards the lake.
In a more direct path of flight, taking her time to land gracefully, Asayake followed her clutch-mate. Unlike her brother, she settled down in the grass of the plains, stretching her neck out to rest on the soft ground and sun her pearl hide. GanonFirenight Lorne bounded over excitedly and slid to a halt near the two! "Hi! I'm Lorne, what's your name?" He looked between them and suddenly frowned. He corrected himself, "What're your names?" and adopted a slightly dopey grin. Waarufu Asayake opened her eyes before picking her head up off the ground to look down at the younger kyn. She chuckled lightly at him, her sunset-tufted cheeks turning up lightly in the kyn version of a smile. "You're certainly rambunctious. My name is Asayake, and it's a pleasure to meet you little one." The only little one she and her brother had ever seen had been when Nishi was little - and full-grown she was still much smaller than Lorne. This size of kyn made her smile, as it looked like he was too large and yet too small to be of the Japanese breed.
Banshou looked over his shoulder at the young one, pearl-colored tail flicking lightly. He issued a snort before turning around to face his sister and Lorne. "Looks like a runt to me."
"Be nice, Banshou," she turned to look back down at Lorne with an apprehensive smile, "Ignore my brother, he's constantly having to make himself look big."
The large Japanese male 'harumphs', approaching to look down on the smaller Eastern. GanonFirenight Lorne blinked and flicked his tail again. "He shouldn't feel bad that I'm gonna be bigger than him... I'm a European, that's how it is." He was already quite large, even for a European fledgeling, quite capable of tackling and pinning an adult Eastern if he so chose. As it was, he raised his haunches, lowering his chest to the ground. "Wanna play?" Waarufu Banshou snorted, tossing his mane (which appeared to be a habit of his) and shoving his large head down towards the younger European. "You're nothing but a little small fry, kiddo. And if I were you I'd -"
Asayake, now standing, had shoved her brother rather roughly in the neck with a fore-claw. Although smaller than him, Banshou had still been knocked away a bit, not having been expecting her reaction. "Play nice. Honestly." She shook her, sighing, before turning to look down at Lorne with a small smille.
"As I said, ignore the big idiot over there. I'd love to play with you." She gave a swish of her tail, turning her head to the side slightly. It had been a long time since she'd played games as a little kyn afterall.
The male, grumbling about his pride being hurt, picked himself up off the ground and blinked at the other two kyns. "Yeah... me too, I guess..." Despite all of his show, Banshou had a tendency to listen to his sister. GanonFirenight Lorne blinked at all this, then snickered. "You remind me of Sakura and Inu. Only Inu's more of a jerk than Banshou." He then bounded a bit away and jumped, spreading his not-fully-developed wings and working hard to get a bit into the air. He certainly was a very large kyn... but he didn't seem to be the brightest. Waarufu Asayake giggled and leapt into the air effortlessly, the unknown cause of Japanese flight spinning her towards him in a barrel-roll. She glidded past his shoulder, arms and legs tucked into her body, tail grazing over his shoulder as she came to hover some twenty yards away. Her lower body hung in the air behind her, tail almost grazing the grass below.
Banshou thrashed his own feathery tail behind him before taking off at a run. Strong, though short, legs propelled him after the younger kyn. He launched himself into the air shortly after Asayake had passed Lorne, clearing the large European's other shoulder and landing on the otherside. He skidded to a halt, turning and grinning at the other one.
"Can you keep up squirt?" Maybe one day, someone could convince Banshou that he wasn't the largest kyn out there. Maybe.
poke mattix hidden within the bushes and trees of the forest, a lunar kyn kept himself hidden from the other dragons. His fur was a gleaming white and in size he measured up to be just larger than an average human. But compared to the dragons in the area he wasn't that big, so he decided to to wait untill he was sure they were gone. At the moment he didn't feel like being pushed around because of his size... GanonFirenight Lorne smirked and flew upward, then kept going and flipped himself over, racing after them. They were better at maneuvering than he was, but he had a speed advantage, his powerful wings enabling him to use the thermals to their greatest extent-- not to mention the fact that he could use gravity much more effectively. He flew up a bit and caught a thermal, soaring high into the air. He focused on the two quickly, his eyes acting like binoculars, allowing him to see every minute detail, and then he folded his wings and dove. He shot down between them like a bullet, a cone-shaped wake rocking through the air behind him and throwing the two older kyn off their flight patterns. He snapped his wings open, then gave a hard flap and shot up at their undersides, laughing and coming up right in front of Banshou, easily close enough that, had this been a battle, he could have gutted the Eastern kyn.
Lorne smirked and rolled once, lazily, falling into formation a little above the two. "Ganon's been giving me lessons." Waarufu The large male gives a snort, launching himself into the air after the other's antics. Unhindered by bulky wings, he tumbles through the air and past the primary layer of cloud cover, entering where the air thins out. It was easiest to fly here for his breed of kyn, unburdened by the constant struggle to keep aloft that some kyn experienced.
Asayake shot straight up from her awkward position hovering in the air (awkward for one that used wings at least, but straight flight was awkward for her afterall)). Performing a continuous cork-screw, she chased after the young European who was much too large for his own youthful set of scales. poke mattix The kyn kept a keen watch on the acrobatic skills displayed by each kyn. In all he was impressed, but only a little. But then it wasn't like he could do any better.
his eyes then returned to scanning the area. The kyn realised that he was rather hungry, but didn't want to return to their den site. He was quite capable of bringing down his own food and didn't need to be fed all the time. Although within a few minutes he was quite sure that there was nothing here that he could hunt for. Any game that was here would have scattered when the other dragons had arrived. he would have to look elsewere.
There was no game back in the forst, so there would be no point going back. But on the other side of the area another forest lay. Perhaps he have better luck There..
Checking the skies again he saw that the dragons were quite busy with their own stunts, so if he was fast....
Leaning on his back legs he jumped forward and sprinted accross the open plains, his powerful body propelling him forward. To anybody who saw him they would have though he was a white blur. The lunar kyn kept on running and running, jumping over streams and rocks as he went. GanonFirenight Lorne roared excitedly and twisted, shooting up after them as he caught the thermals. He rode it like an elevator, catching every bit in order to soar up high above the two of them, then folded his wings and dove, using the sheer force of gravity to drop at incredible speeds unmatchable by the two Eastern kyn. He twisted and rolled around them, not nearly as maneuverable but much faster. The wake from his wind rolled over them, perhaps throwing them off a bit. Waarufu Lazily Asayake followed after the young Lorne, a pleasant smile on her face in the process. She halted her corkscrew and angled out and away from the cone-shaped wake he created, managing to miss the strongest of its backwash with a light chuckle.
Banshou, pleasantly oblivious above them in the atmosphere, was caught off-guard by the wake. He weathered through it with an disgruntled bellow, dropping below the cloud-cover to glare at his sister and 'their' playmate.
"Honestly, you have no sense of humor," Asayake grinned at her brother, giving a flick of her feathered tail. poke mattix Once reaching the other side he slowed down in order to take a more stalking apporach, satisfied he wasn't seen. As he cautiously entered the forest he noticed some wild deer in the distance. Perfect.
Since he was a lone kyn, and bigger than the deer he could use his speed and strength alone to bring them down. With a few leaps and bounds he had closed the distance between him and the deer without them noticing. The kyn then pounced on a large male deer and, keeping well away from the antlers, bit down on it's neck. The deer was dead within a few seconds. He then preceeded to devour his kill, the scent of blood straying away from the kill site. [[end of session]]

Role-Play Log A Meeting Between Strangers Waarufu The medium-sized Kaaruni, tiny compared to the larger European and Japanese breeds of kyn, made her way across the moss covered forest floor with ease. Perched on her shouder comfortably was the tiny Japanese second generation, Nishi. The brightly-colored female was preening her left wing as Kaaruni picked her way through their territory in silence. KiiMeLwi Tau growled to himself, trudging around the forest, following afer his 'brother' Dui, who was flying above the trees. Dui and himself were just out hunting together, looking for their own meals for the day, since their guardian felt it was high time they stopped depending on her so much. At least it was a nice day...He sniffed the ground, and instead of food, smelled fellow kyns. Funny...he didnt realize earlier. Waarufu The lunar kyn's nose twitched as a new scent drifted to her through the wind - that of intruding male kyns. Well, not technically intruding. It was the outskirts. But it was often difficult to argue logistics with Kaaruni. With an uneasy swipe of her tail and flick of her ears, Kaaruni bolted off in the direction of the scent.
Nishi issued a squeak in protest of the rapid change of pace, tiny hindclaws digging into the thick pelt of the lunar kyn disgracefully as she quickly folded her wings. Her free ride had just gotten a lot rougher, though she wasn't in a place to abandon her friend.
Kaaruni slowed as she neared the walking male, coming to a gradual trot and then a full stop about fifteen yards away. A fallen tree and numerous shrubbery had its place between her and this oddly shaped male lunar kyn. She pricked her ears at him, and simply stared.
Nishi deatched herself from the black and red lunar, flapping into the air and gliding over with a merry 'kyu!' on her lips. She hovered near him, about five feet at an angle in the air. "Good afternoon." She was all cheers and politeness, not once considering herself in danger due to her miniscule size. KiiMeLwi Dahn Tau stopped walking as soon as Kaaruni appeared. Turning so he could stare back at her as she was at he, he blinked in mild surprise and even a bit of wonder.
As Nishi greeted him, he slowly turned to the hovering kyn, and gave a nod. "Afternoon small stranger." He mumbled. "And to you as well." He lowered his head in a sort of bow.
Trandui, noticing he wasn't being followed by his 'brother' any more, turned to glide back and landed on the ground in a clearing not far off. He wriggled back, weaving through the trees to see what Tau was doing. "Dahn, what are...oh. Why, Greetings!" He stopped, standing behind the lunar kyn, his body wrapped around a couple trees. Waarufu With hesitation, Kaaruni approached the other lunar kyn as her companion had. Her ears remained pricked forward, leg muscles tensed uneasily. Unlike Nishi, she didn't believe in the kindness of everyone.
The little japanese kyn landed on a nearby branch with a bright smile across her face. Unlike the appearance of Banshou or Shinju when smiling, Nishi ddn't display her fangs in the gesture. "You mat call me Nishi. Who are you and what brings you towards our home?"
She gave a chirp at the appearance of the second male, bowing her long neck and head lightly towards him. "Good afternoon to you as well!"
"Certainly a strange time for many meetings." Kaaruni grumbled under her breath as she approached, stepping carefully through the thick underbrush before halting a under her female friend. "Kaaruni." She stated shortly. She wasn't trying to be rude, simply guarded. KiiMeLwi "My name is Dahn Tau. Either for short." Dahn, noticing how tense Kaaruni was, kept his head low, to make sure he didn't seem threatening. He wasn't here to intrude on anothers land, just a hunt for a meal. "We were unaware that anyone or thing resided here. Be sure we are merely here to..." He was cut short by Dui's laughter.
Dui walked forward, chuckling to himself, and stopped when he was at the male lunar's side. "Ahhh, I don't think there's any reason for you to be so darn formal and defensive, you dolt." He turned to nod at Nishi and Kaaruni. "We're jus' lookin' for a meal. We live under the same cave roof, if you know what I mean, and our caretaker jus' felt it was high time we stopped eatin' her outa her house and 'ome. Or cave. Tranduil's the name."
Dahn sighed heavily. His 'brother' could be such a dope. A BIG dope. A big, cheery, no sense whatsoever dope. "Dui...her mumbled. We might be making them feel uncomfortable. My apologies." At this, Dui just roared in laughter.
"Always formal, that he is." Dui grinned and smacked Dahn hard on the back with his tail, perhaps hitting him a wee bit harder than he intended. "Don't you mind him." Waarufu Kaaruni flicked her ears, more amused now than anything. Apparently the other male coming into plain view had calmed her. She was curious about this male lunar with his strange appearance. Out of her clan, she was the only lunar and she had never seen another before, so this one's strange appearance unsettled her a bit. "Where do you two hail from?"
Nishi gave another high-pitched chirp. "Kaaruni and I, likewise, are from the same clan. Our territory border is actually a mile or so towards the south, deeper in the forest. And it's nice to meet you both."
"We don't get many visitors, seeing how far from everyone we live." The impression was that this lunar kyn didn't mind that seclusion.
"It's nice to see new faces though. I'm afraid except for our brothers that we haven't met other kyn before." KiiMeLwi Dahn Tau pointed his nose behind him, near the north. "A few more miles that way the trees sort of thin out. Our human hatched us and our sisters and brother in some caverns near a small lake." He turned back to looked at Kaaruni, who, he was aware by now, wasn't used to his appearances. He sighed inwardly.
"Pond, actually." Tranduil. "It's much to small to be considered a lake."
Dahn Tau glared at his older 'brother' again. "Lake, pond, fishing hole, pool, its all the same to me."
Tranduil shrugged and turned to smiled at the small Nishi. "The pleasure is ours, I'm sure." He made a kyn bow, and honestly, looked quite silly doing it. "I've only met one other kyn outside our home, and to be truthful, we didn't talk much. Tau wasn't even out of eggshell then." He patted the lunar kyn on the back with a black claw. He really didn't know how much stronger he was. Dahn had to brace himself against the pats to avoid being flattened.
"So." Dahn growled at Dui. "May I ask to why you ladies were out here? Taking a walk, perhaps?"
"Lovely ladies, Dahn. You always forget the lovely." Dui smiled at Nishi, then Kaaruni. "It seems my Dahn doesn't always have the best of manners." Waarufu Nishi and Kaaruni both looked in the direction that Dahn Tau turned his nose in, both offering sounds of affirmation in return.
Kaaruni shifted her weight slightly, ears flicking backwards once before straightening out. She seemed to struggle with relaxing or staying on edge, two parts of her personality doing a mental tango. She was used to being alone, save for Nishi. Used to being picked on by the larger kyn in the clan, or ignored. Used to protecting her human. Being treated with kindness from complete strangers was something that unsettled her, especially with Tau looking at her as if she'd done something wrong already.
Nishi gave a bright trill from her long neck, which looped about itself lightly before untangling. "You two squabble like Banshou and Asayake." Her equivalent of a smile was still present, which was perhaps the closest a kyn maw could turn up at the corners in resemblance to a human smile. Unlike her brothers and sisters, Nishi did not perform an open-mawed smile that flashed fangs. Perhaps a trait she got from her father.
She chuckled again at the other's bow, little wings flapping. Despite being able to easily fit inside Tranduil's mouth and probably find it a comfortable bed, she had no fear of the larger kyn. "Flattery!" She chirruped the word lightly, performing a tight loop-de-loop in mid-air before continuing to pump her small wings to remain aloft in the same place.
Kaaruni flicked her left ear, again, at the comment from Dui to her. And then pointedly decided to ignore it. "A territorial sweep, checking the numbers of the herds nearby. They're migrating a lot recently, and it seems we've something new in our territory boundaries every day." Okay, so she was pointed.
"Walking, yes. It's a beautiful day, despite the chilled air." Nishi corrected the older lunar kyn, still smiling. KiiMeLwi Dahn blinked then gave his best grin at Nishi's comment about he and his brother. "Yes, I suppose we squabble often." He stated, giving his tail a quick flick, perhaps even a bit proud of himself. For what we shall never know. Turning back to Kaaruni, he had loosened up quite a bit, he was determined to help this other lunar do the same. "Territorial sweep eh? Well we'll be sure to be careful about where we go about picking lunch. We shan't harm the herds here." His tail pumped back and forth at the thought of food.
Tranduil nodded to his brother briefly. Seems as if some manners were hidden in that think lunar skull. Dui faced the hovering Nishi, and looked at her questioningly. Silently, he offered her his head, allowing the small kyn to take a rest on his horns if she liked. "Flattery..." He began, "Is the best form of speech. Especially when it's true." He winked at her, chuckling inwardly. Waarufu Nishi offered a small chuckle in response to Dahn Tau, the pride and interactions of the two continually reminding her of Banshou and Asayake. With more manners than her older brother.
Kaaruni watched the other lunar kyn, snorting lightly at his tail swishing immaturely from side-to-side. "You're on the borders now. No harm in it yet." She stressed her final word, voice dropping a notch when she hit it.
The small Japanese kyn flicked her wings to line up with the offered horns, and dropped down onto them lightly. She took a moment to fold her wings behind her, dipping her long neck over her shoulder to preen a moment before twisting it back to peer at Tranduil.
"And so is chivalry." Human-like smile still tipped her facial features, though at a closer range it was less human and more kyn-like. GanonFirenight The wind started with a light breeze on the quartet of kyn, ruffling the grass and leaves. It got stronger, and quite suddenly it became clear that it was coming mostly from above-- very strange behavior for wind. It became stronger and stronger, threatening to whip tiny Nishi off her perch. Trees were being stripped of their weakest leaves, and suddenly the treetops parted from the sheer force of the wind, saplings bending down and pressing to the ground as though some force was pushing them aside.
A form blotted out the sun. It was massive. And it was descending.
It was also slightly farsighted and noticed suddenly that the creatures on whom it was descending, pinned down by the force of its wind, were not in fact deer but were instead kyn. He frowned and moved himself a bit, not so graceful as he once was, and passed forward, gliding. His wings were trembling with effort, but he held on and landed safely away from the kyn-- though the concussive force of his setdown nearly knocked them over.
Lorne sheepishly poked his enormous head out over them. "Wow, I'm sorry, really... I didn't hurt anybody, did I?" He coughed, making a point of not coughing at them, as the force of his lungs ejecting a cough might blow poor Nishi off into the forest. KiiMeLwi Dahn Tau toppled over, the unexpected wind throwing him off balance completely. Whatever pride he had had was tossed aside as he landed in a position quite undignified for a lunar kyn such as he. He blinked, mouth open in complete and utter surprise. "What?!" He could only manage to sputter.
Tranduil had wrapped his long body around himself and lowered his head, trying his hardest to protect small Nishi from the strong gusts of air. Now he unraveled himself, slowly, and peered at the overly large kyn. "I'm hoping Tau's ego is the only thing hurt here, stranger. That was terribly sudden and certainly unexpected. But I shall forgive, this time since we have just met." He stood as tall and strong as he could, an eye raised in the new kyns direction.
Dahn Tau righted himself as quickly as he could, hair on the back of his neck standing on end. He gave a deep growl, but gave up as soon as Dui glared at him to be quiet and let it go for now. If Dahn could have blushed, he would have been a nice solid color of red by now. Instead of acting embarassed, however, he sat down hard. "Hmmph." Then..."Are you alright, Miss Kaaruni?" He was being strangely polite. Waarufu The wind picked up lightly, ruffling through Kaaruni's fur. The scent of the other kyn was shoved down at her from above, and instinctively she braced herself. Clawed feet dug into the dug, leg muscles tensed, ears pinned back, and she snarled upwards as the power increased. All her effort was to no success as she was knocked off her feet.
Nishi gave an ill-mannered squawk, appreciating the cover that Tranduil offered her completely. The initial gust had almost ripped her off of him, and she held her wings pinned against her back to prevent any stray bursts from taking them from their sockets.
After the shockwave of the landing, Kaaruni was on her feet and snarling again. Her fur was ruffled, her ears pinned against her skull. Pride wasn't something she disgarded easily, nor was this invasion. Her tail curled over her back, which was facing Dahn Tau, Nishi, and Tranduil. So it seemed in this awkward situation she did indeed trust the strange looking lunar kyn and his brother. She was beyond words.
Poor little Nishi was huddled against Tranduil, shaken from her close-call. She wasn't used to shifting winds like what ocurred in the upper levels of flight. Her small frame was better suited to low-altitude flying where it was safer. Or at least, it had been safer until this giant showed himself. GanonFirenight He coughed again. "I'm really sorry. I'm... I thought you were deer, was all. And so I came down to hunt... I'm really glad I recognized you as kyn before I landed. My name's, uh... Lorne." His cheeks were darkening in color. "I'm really, really sorry. If anyone's hurt, I can give you a ride back to your den... are... did I hurt anyone?" He seemed deeply concerned, and rightly so-- he constantly feared that he would turn around and crush someone with his tail, or that he'd be sleeping by the woods and roll over on some poor Lunar. A great gust swept into the cave. Fortunately, young Paige was not inside when it happened, nor were any of the smaller kyn. The wind stopped abruptly, but was replaced by a heavy thud that shook the ground and echoed powerfully through the cave.
Outside, Lorne sat down to wait, hoping one of his new friends would come out. Inu was picking on him about his size again, so... he'd decided to head out. He certainly didn't want to have Sakura show up there and find him shuffling his talons while Inu scolded him. Then she'd get defensive, and that'd be even more embarassing... so it seemed like coming to see his friends would be better. He lowered his head, raised his hind leg, and scratched a few times before his ear before sitting up again.

As luck would have it, Lorne had come when more than half of the clan was out meeting the other clan that Kaaruni and Nishi had run into during one of their walks. Banshou and Asayake were the only two left behind.
At the rush of wind from outside the cave created a few mini surges of water through the water entrance of the cave, Banshou was stirred from his nap. He flicked his tail irritably, it having been soaked by the upset waters. With a low growl, he stalked out of the open air living room and through the elbow-deep waters, padding outside of the cave through the water entrance. And he just... stared. The kyn that had shown up outside their den was, well, huge.

Lorne frowned, then wagged his tail as he recognized the kyn (who he now outweighed by over three and a half tons, most likely). "Banshou! Hey, remember me?" He leaned down so that his head was eye level with the stricken Eastern's. Lorne seemed totally oblivious to Banshou's reasons for staring silently, and cocked his head, waiting for a response.

The older kyn looked up at the seeming stranger, then realization dawned and he shook his head. His whiskers were dripping with water, and the motion sprayed droplets across the forest floor.
"You're that scrawny little thing from before? What in seven moons did you eat to get that big?" Banshou gave another irritable flick of his tail. He didn't like entertaining, but he was supposed to be nice to people around the den site as his clan didn't know many others. So he tried his best to be accomodating. At least, his rendition of it.

Lorne shrugged. "Mostly deer. Lots of deer, actually. Lots and lots of deer. In fact, I've just picked a few off. I still have some, if you want it." It was true; underneath one of Hadus's front talons was a dead buck, as yet uneaten. Hadus was probably bringing it to share with his friends. It seemed that he was not hungry, or he probably would have eaten it himself.
As a matter of fact, he was indeed not hungry, and this fact made him very happy.
It was a nice change of pace.

Banshou blinked at the buck stored in the other's massive talons, then looked back up at him. "Sheesh, carry a snack with you everywhere .... Lorne?" He had been about to say 'kid' or 'hatchling', but this overgrown kyn was far due something larger than those words.
Banshou remained standing elbow deep in the water in front of his den, tail lashing occasionally behind him. It seemed on some level Lorne had won some respect from the older kyn. Or maybe it was just that he was intimidated.

"Nah, just when I'm visiting friends. Is anyone else home, or is it just us?" He thumped his tail absentmindedly, an action that crushed some flowers, scattered some seeds, scattered some fish, and scared the living bejeezus out of a specimen of a rare breed of squirrel that was living in a tree high above their heads.
In an unrelated note, the rush of adrenaline that followed slightly altered the squirrel's genetic makeup due to a freak beta particle that jumped through space from a particle accelerator halfway across the galaxy. The particle passed through the squirrel's adrenal gland just as it began secreting, and due to the flaw caused by this freak accident, the species of squirrel would eventually become sentient and in thousands of years would lead a rebellion against humans. They would lose, but not before both sides had suffered bitterly. In the end, the two races would come to a peaceful coexistence, but it just goes to show you that you should never thump your tail around rare breeds of squirrel.
