Okay...well, this is a place to tell us if you are published or are thinking of getting published when you are ready?
Or it may even just be a hobby.

-- Myself, I plan to get published, my latest work actually. I will either search for a publisher or go into self-publishing. It's a hobby but I spend my life on my works and would love to show other people what I can do.

So - here is a place to share your publishing experiences. biggrin

I don't plan on getting anything I write published but if by some stroke of luck, ten years from now, I complete/revise/rewrite one of my stories and I send it into a publishing company and they want to publish it. Then yeah I guess I'll get it published.
Other than that... Nah, it's a hobby and I don't have my sights set on it at the moment.

I want to get published, but I am at the very least going to get my story, concepts, and characters copyrighted.

I have been published twice in my high school magazine, but that is nowhere near professional level (each time, there were only about 100-200 copies of the magazine sold, and I think professional is something like 1,000 copies at least. I could be wrong, but I know I am under the radar in both cases).

I want to get future stories published, but not the one I'm working on now. It's just a worldbuilding practice.

I want to be published, but not what I'm writing at the moment, unless I manage to majorly rework it and make it not suck.

I have an extreme, fiery drive to be published, by a publishing house. Maybe a literary agent, too? WOULD BE AWESOME.

I fully intend to be published someday. (Technically, I'm already published, but that was a short story I wrote in half an hour for my school magizine.) Right now, though, I'm going to wait. Mostly because I feel inexperienced. I may or may not be twice as smart as the next guy, but chances are that they'll be twice as wise as me. And wisdom counts for more in writing.

Hopefully, in a decade or fifteen years or something, I'll be sending stuff off to a publisher. Along with giving myself time to mature, I'm also adding more and more to the ideas I have now. Considering the progress I've made in the last year and half with this one story, by the time I'm old enough I should have a whole new universe ready.

Although having a realistic idea on your talents now as a writer compared to how they will be fifteen years down the line is good, it's always a decent idea to write what you feel would be publishable now, if that makes any sense. Look at the drivel being published today. You don't have to be a fantastic writer to get anywhere.

....not that I'm saying you should just write drivel, lol. stare

So far, just a story in a very small anthology and one poem in a lit mag. I don't count either of those. whee

The poem thing is a bit funny, though, because it was when I was in college and they were having a writing contest. There were 3 categories, fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Even though I never write poetry, I wanted to enter all 3 categories for a better shot at the cash prizes. So I did, came in 2nd or 3rd (can't remember) in poetry, and got paid $50. Not bad for 10 minutes of effort. xd

Anyway, my goal is to write and publish middle grade and young adult novels. That's mostly what I read, and it's what I'm most interested in writing. I'm getting closer and closer, and may even manage it this year (with a lot of patience, and persistence, and revisions, and some luck, and more patience...)

I've been through a lot of the process, so if anyone wants some advice/help on submitting to agents or editors, let me know and I'll do my best. heart

I don't really plan on getting anything published because I only write for the fun of it.

I have some experience with publishing. My first novel, Magebound was released August '09 in trade paperback from P.D. Publishing. The sequel, Spellwrought, will be released later this year, probably before summer. They also asked to see the other books in the series as I finish editing them (which I need to do--I hate editing. sweatdrop )

I've also published a few short stories and novellas in e-book format through Shadowfire Press. Unspoken, Slave to the Crown, and Faerie Christmas are out and Suburban Fantasy 1: The Vampire Next Door will be released in early February. I'm contracted to write at least two more books in the Suburban Fantasy series, which is what I'm working on now.

Both are very small publishers, so there weren't any huge advances or print runs or publicity, but to be paid anything, to receive recognition for something that I love to do, is a dream come true.

I'd love to be published someday. I just have much work to do before that will ever happen.
