teens facing child pornography charges for sharing nude pics of themselves
scream
THis is utter crap. Whatever happened to the requirement that a prosecutor need demonstrate criminal intent (mens rea) for a conviction?

Most of the time these families are agreeing to plea agreements in order to avoid embarrassment which I think is the true tactic. I have faith that any judge not willing to betray the principles of reason, judicial ethics, intent of the law, common sense, and AMERICA would throw this shiite out in an actual trial. But as families want to avoid embarrassment they are actually AGREEING to punishment and ADMITTING wrongdoing where there is no justification for any such accusation!

Who the eff gave these patriarchal, moral high-ground slave prosecutors and police officers permission to use the coercive power of the state to enforce closed minded and archaic sexual mores on otherwise happily uninhibited young adults?

Don't get me wrong, the state should indeed try and punish perpetrators of sexual harassment. But accusing teens of CHILD PORNOGRAPHY for sending pics OF THEMSELVES to their girlfriend/boyfriend or other consenting/receptive friends is a blatant attempt to instill a sense of shame over behavior that is not (or at least should not be considered) shameful and is clearly patriarchal legal moralism AT ITS WORST.

OMG I haven't been this mad in a while. stressed

This is definitely a sticky legal situation, but I agree with you in the fact that it doesn't have to be. My personal feelings aside about the fact that our teens are becoming more and more loose, I do agree that the prosecutor should have to prove criminal intent, personally I think this whole issue could be avoided if we could educate our youth as to the fact that they will probably regret sending n***s to boyfriends/girlfriends, I'm thinking it could probably be accomplished via an assembly like they do with drunk driving.

This is a touchy subject.
Because usually when my friends get N00dz of their girlfriends they usually show me their pics! (though I usually ask if they are of legal age or I tell them GTFO)
Like New car they wanna show off and brag.

Indeed that is a problem, but it sounds like a civil problem rather than a criminal one.
