Gaians certainly do have some strange customs, Reiga muses to himself as he walks down the street. A day entirely devoted to expressing your love for others, for example. It seems there is an entire elaborate ritual one must be proficient in, or else risk disfavor. So many stores advertise that one needs a gift that was unique, personal, something she or he would love, and simultaneously simple and elaborate, elegant and 'fun'.
Whatever they may be, Reiga would learn the Gaian customs with as much mastery as any Porcelain custom, since he would be living and doing business in this strange new world. Shaking his head, Reiga decides to go inside a store with giant heart decorations plastered all over the windows for some inspiration.
As he walks into the drugstore, he is overwhelmed with the sheer... pink/red of it all! And there's so much Stuff! Reiga finds himself wandering over to a rack of hair accesories, momentarily distracted...

Lucretia hovers around the pink decorations, hands clasped together as she studies each and every item in hopes of finding one that speaks to her. Something special-looking she can get for her father. Although if nothing stands out, the girl supposes she can always get him another mouse....
She finds herself distracted with the dilemma of her plot for him, though - how to make sure she could get Kouyo to meet him for a date? The quiet, sad Porcelain had not been by their home in a while, and Kumoru mentioned him occasionally when he talked about Work, but it always seemed like something was a little wrong there. Lucretia especially hoped they had not had a fight or something.
Still, she decided the circumstances made it all the more important that she had to get Kouyo to agree the first time. Lucretia thought she could easily drag the slender man where ever she needed him to go but... that seemed somehow wrong in light of what she knew about the holiday.
The Ice Rose drifted sideways slowly as she thought like a balloon near a fan, without seeming to really notice until she was near the end of the aisle. Hopefully no one had seen her space out, and hopefully she was not about to run into anyone - though most people knew when she was coming close, as her skin was always cold enough to chill the air around her.
- Wait, the man right there, just around the corner, with the strange eyes and flat face... was he a Porcelain, too? The Raevan stopped where she was and stared at him, but said nothing.

The Porcelain visibly shivers. Why had it suddenly gotten so cold, he wonders, looking around briefly for the cause...
eek
Reiga leaps backwards, tripping on his own robes and falling to the ground. At least he hadn't knocked anything, or anyone, over. His eyes are wide as obvious panic takes hold at the sight of the naked woman...er, thing...hovering there around the corner!
Snap out of it, he scolds himself. This is no way for you to act! Remember your reputation... Coughing slightly, Reiga gets up with all the grace he can muster, straightens his robes, adjusts his hair, and bows - all in a somewhat fluid motion. The ever present charming, flirtatious smile adorns his face, though he is very careful not to look directly at the stranger. She may not be naked but she is certainly too scarcely clad to be decent. What in the world were the rules of Gaian propriety?
"Greetings, Madame," he says, "has no one told you not to sneak up on others?" he laughs a little.

The girl watches the Porcelain man trip over himself with a blank expression on her face, but then smiles when he bows to her. Xiao Huo and Jilan were so very strange, and this fellow just confirms that the Porcelain do not seem to get any less so when they grow up.
"Hello to you, sir," Lucretia replied, bowing in response. Then, with a decidedly feral grin, she added, "If I don't sneak up, then people know I'm coming, and it's harder to catch prey that way." Definitely the owl in her speaking.
No, had to be polite. "... Sorry if I frightened you. My name is Lucretia. Who are you?"

Prey? Another shiver makes its way down the merchant's spine, this time not entirely caused by the cold.
Shoving back his sense of unease, Reiga chuckles, "I am Reiga, and I'm afraid I would not make a good meal, Miss Lucretia. I am far too thin." He glances up to get a better look at her before ensuring his eyes are looking somewhere else again. She was very pretty, in a strange way, but also very...bare. Still, he did not wish to offend. Oh, perhaps he was being rude by not looking at her! That would not do, but certainly to look would be considered, well, maybe not since someone who minded would certainly not go out with so little on, but Gaia was home to many strange people and traditions-
Sighing, Reiga asked with a projection of minor embarrasment, "I have recently arrived in Gaia, and I still am not sure... I beg your pardon, Miss Lucretia, but do I offend by not looking at you directly? I find myself constantly trying to adapt between Gaian propriety, if there is any, and my own."

Lucretia's smile faded and she leaned closer to peer at the man when he spoke. So Porcelain could talk, and quite fluently, too. Xiao Huo never did, and Jilan seemed to prefer not to for the most part.
The Ice Rose laughed softly, then regarded him again with a blank stare as she told him, "Don't worry, I couldn't eat you if I wanted to. I was just saying."
Then she edged downwards and to the side a bit, trying to work her way back into his line of sight. "What are you talking about? Am I being impolite?" That would be very bad. The girl chewed her lip a little. "I guess if you don't to look at me, that's fine." Lucretia was silent for a moment, then asked, "Are all of you Porcelain going to be weird about seeing my shoulders?"
She glanced down at her bare arms, then awkwardly tried to fold her small translucent glowing wings over them as well as she could.

"Oh! No, no, Miss Lucretia, it is not that you are being impolite..." Reiga looked up, trying to find the right words, then down again, "well, I do not think it is weird, but yes, all Porcelain are going to be a bit uncomfortable with your bare shoulders, but I do not wish to make you uncomfortable in turn - "
He stopped as what he just said registered. "You know other Porcelain?"

"I know a few others," she told him. Then Lucretia laughed and told him, "I'm the Chaos to the very powerful but very tiny Sorcerer Xiao Huo. Or so he seems to think." The Raevan drifted to the side a little, studying Reiga closely. Then she added, "I also know Xiao Huo's big brother Jilan, and Setsushi and High Priest Kouyo. And a few others, maybe, but I don't remember or don't know their names."
Lucretia grinned and backed away a little, crossing her arms. "And now I know you, too."

The Porcelain laughed with her at the idea of her being a Chaos before asking, "You know Setsushi?" Reiga looked up, stunned into ignoring Miss Lucretia's shoulders, "I have not yet met the other Porcelain you speak of, though this Xiao Huo sounds like quite the ambitious young one. I should like to meet him soon. Along with the High Priest you mentioned."
He bowed a little, with a gentle smile, "And I must say it has been my honor to make your aquaintance."

"I have no idea what Xiao Huo is thinking most of the time because he never talks," the Raevan told him. Then she glanced away, back down the aisle of pink and red things, seeming to lose interest in the Porcelain for a few moments.
Then she looked back at him, perking up again. "Do you Porcelain have a love holiday like this, too?" Perhaps the Porcelain man would be able to help her figure out how to encourage one of his kind to participate in this Gaian holiday.

Reiga pursed his lips. "No, Porcelain gift giving is usually... let us just say different. This is a new experience for me." He smiled, broadly, flipping back a stray bit of hair, "But I think I am going to enjoy this holiday. It will provide a great opportunity to study Gaian courtship traditions, I hope."
The Porcelain was growing more at ease with looking at his strange new aquaintence, "What of you, Miss Lucretia? Are you a native Gaian, familiar with this," he made an all-encompassing gesture, "tradition?"

"Different?" she repeated, staring blankly down the aisle of candy while she considered this. "Like, Porcelain boys don't give chocolates or flowers or plushie bears with hearts to the girls they like? You still have dates, though, right?"
Lucretia's black eyes moved back to focus on Reiga intently, and her eyebrows drew together slightly as she thought for a moment. Then she inquired, "What are you Porcelain supposed to do to show you like someone?"
She was quiet for a moment, like she had missed his question, then quickly added, "Oh, I was born here in Gaia, but it was after this Valentine's Day last year. So I haven't really seen it before except on TV in the last week."

The Porcelain chuckled, "Well, we do not have plushie bears with hearts, for one thing. In manners of courtship, one shows off his beauty and skills through refined gifts that reveal something of his personality... is that what you meant by 'when you like someone'?"
Reiga cocked his head, curious, "Miss Lucretia, may I ask why you asked?"

His beauty and skills? ... Well, that would have to be up to Kumoru, since Lucretia could not do that for him. Although this was really probably just going to be a one-time date thing, to get Kumoru and Kouyo to be friends again. Maybe the Ice Rose could just remind them both before they met up to show off a little, and that would help make things better.
She nodded in response to his first question and shrugged, telling him, "I guess." Then at Reiga's second inquiry, the Raevan glanced around and leaned a bit closer, telling him in a hushed voice, "Actually, you can't, sorry. Top secret until Valentine's Day."
Lucretia gave him a quick sympathetic smile, then asked, "Do Porcelain like, go out on dates? Like, do two of them go out to eat and talk together?" She hoped the answer was yes, otherwise it might be harder to force Kouyo to do the whole date thing....

Reiga's eyes gleamed. Dates? If what he understood dates to be in Gaian tradition was correct, there could be only one reason for Miss Lucretia's line of questioning... and it made perfect since that she didn't want her reasons known! The question remained, who was the lucky, and probably going to be very shocked, Porcelain?
"Miss Lucretia," he lowered his voice, almost conspiratorily, "I may be able to advise you better if you told me a little more about the Porcelain you...what is the phrase....have your eye set on?" This was rather in reverse, the maiden should be coming to Lucretia, not the other way around...and she wasn't a Porcelain either, so it could never be a fruitful relationship, but he simply had to know who the male was!
((Gah, sorry about my extreme delay in response! Life went a little crazy.))
