Mii'ah had been walking for a while and she had to admit that it was rather, well, boring. For a while now she had been walking by herself which was really no fun at all. Now, now she needed something to entertain herself and to do so. Well that required her to look.

Heaving a sigh she let her pale green eyes survey her surrounding, which consisted of many, many trees, as she came to a stop. "What to do, what to do~" She mused to herself in her sing-song voice

--

Among the many, many trees, was a lion. He was sleeping, actually. But he probably wouldn't sleep for very long. See, he'd had the brilliant idea of pulling a leopard and clambered up onto a tree. The branch had held him for a while, but he shifted a bit, and well.. It was starting to crack. For now, Mteremo-- previously Nuru, was peacefully oblivious to this fact.

And he remained oblivious until the branch cracked and flung him onto the floor, making him awake with a really loud scream. The branch hadn't been high (not like he could reach high branches anyway), but crashing onto the floor did hurt even when you were just tripping, so imagine free-falling from a tree.

Though he was arguably wide awake now, after the scream, and the subsequent jumping to his paws (only to find one was somewhat injured), he seemed a little slow to react now, and stared dully up at the branch, hanging onto the tree by a small thread of bark. Then watching it as it finally gave way and crashed completely onto the floor.

Like he'd been oblivious to the creaking branch, Mteremo was completely oblivious to the lioness who'd probably witnessed what just happened.

--

She had seen everything and it showed on her expression. Her eyes were wide and she looked a little dumb-struck, her mouth open in an o-shape. There had been a lion sleeping in a tree and had now fallen, successfully hurting himself and the tree he had been resting in. Once she got over her shock she stepped forward, mouth closing studying him.

"Are you alright?"

She called tilting her head as she remained a few paces away. It would be good to study him, to learn a little bit about him before 'playing' any kind of games.

--

An ear twitched backwards as she spoke, though it took a while to register that someone was speaking, in fact, took a while to register that there was someone, and despite delayed, his reaction was leaping and spinning around. "Ah! " Mteremo wasn't usually a jumpy lion, but give the guy a break. Look how he just woke up, come on. "Who'reyou? " He spoke quick, then paused, making a face as he looked down to his (very) recently injured paw and making a face, releasing a bit of pressure on it before glancing back at her. Then he remembered she'd asked something.

"Oh. Oh! I'm fine. "

--
As he spun around to face her, looking surprised and panicked, she laughed softly shaking her head. "I'm simply a passerby, I didn't disturb you did I?" She asked taking a step forward and smiling at the male. "My name is Mii'ah." She told him with a small bow of her head as she took another step towards him. Then he made a face which she could only assume had something do with his paw because he lifted it.

"Did you hurt your paw?"

Yes, she'd start with the obvious question and make her way along. It sounded like a good idea to her. One by one she'd pull him in.

--

He paused, inching backwards, still a bit disoriented by the entire situation, and taking a moment to glance up at where the branch left a scar, and the branch on the floor, and the spot he'd landed in. "No, you didn't. " He said absently, still assessing the branch and the floor. Last time he'd ever try sleeping in a tree, ever.

Then she was speaking again, and he glanced at her, then at his injured paw. Yes, he had injure his paw, but a little glimmer of pride told him to deny this fact. "It's fine. " He remained silent for a few moments, before deciding he'd freaked out enough. "You said your name was Mii'ah? Nice name. My name is Nuuu.. Mteremo. Just Mteremo. " Name swapping took a wee bit of getting used to. "Nice to meet you. "

--

He denied the ache of his paw, it could only mean that his pride wouldn't let him. It was nice to know, for her at least. "If it hurts later I could see if I could do anything to reduce the pain." She offered just as a suggestion for later. Yes. "It's nice to meet you too Mteremo." She told him still smiling.

"What brings you to these parts?" She inquired out of simple curiosity. Deciding that she would be more comfortable sitting she did so. Tilting her head at him she waited for his response.

--

He nodded, and decided that if she was smiling, he wouldn't be the idiot who kept a straight face, so he managed to tip the edge of his lips upwards into a smile, albeit a tiny one. "Thanks for the offer. " Though he did quietly wonder what she could do to help anyway.

At her next question, he paused a bit. What was he doing here? This wasn't the swamp, as evidenced by the very, very solid ground. He'd tested the solidness of it himself. Swamp was murky and muddy.

Oh, right. He had stopped for the night on his way home. "Aaah, its a bit of a long story. "

--

"A long story?" She repeated more to herself than to him. She had to think about it, did she want to sit and listen? Well she didn't have anything better to do so it probably wouldn't hurt. "I have time, if you're willing to tell me." She stated with a firm nod. "I'll be honest, it's nice to have company after traveling on you're own..." She told him when she started to wonder if her presence was starting to bother him. Especially with all his questions.

"I'd appreciate it if you'd humor me." She mumbled lowering her head and looking up at him, eyes half-lidded.

--

He blinked, a bit surprised that she'd actually want to hear it. "I know what that's like. " He mumbled towards the traveling comment, Mteremo was a bit homesick after his quest to find a name, and honestly he couldn't wait to get home. But he was still a few days away. "Alright. " He said, mimicking her and sitting down, flicking his tail. He supposed he should start by talking about his pride. He took a quick moment to notice that Mii'ah was very good looking. Then reminded himself that wasn't exactly how you're supposed to think about people, so mentally shook his head.

"I'm from a pride in the swamp lands, called the Jini-msemi. " He paused, thinking to himself how exactly to go on. "Anyway, when I was born, my mother named me Nuru. " He flicked his tail slightly, quietly reminding himself that it'd only been her, not dad. He wasn't totally sure about explaining to her everything about the name, though. "It's not supposed to be my real name, though. When lion come of age, we leave to find our real names. " The ones they'd have for the rest of their life, should they return.

"That's why I'm here. " He shrugged. "I found my name and I'm on my way home now. " He'd simplified everything quite a lot, but either he simplified or he explained everything about the pride.

--

"Swamplands?" That sounded interesting to her. "What's it like there?" She asked trying to picture the place in her mind. Then he continued on with his story and told her of his birth name. So they left to find their own, real, names. How interesting, but she liked the idea of it. It gave you the chance to change your name if you didn't like it. The idea was simply, pleasing.

A name change might be nice.

"That wasn't that long of a story silly." She told him with a light laugh as as let her green eyes dance over his form again. He was a good looking male and she wasn't sure she wanted to travel anymore. Maybe she could convince him to take her home with him. Now that would be interesting. "What about outsiders who'd want to join the pride?"

--

He smiled slightly. "Its.. wet. " Very, very wet. There'd been a flood once, which had been horrible because of all the water. Well, so he'd heard. "Well, it is long, but I simplified it. A lot. " He smiled, twitching his tail tip and perking his ears. This chat was pretty nice, actually. He tilted his head slightly at the last question.

"Well, outsiders have to accept our traditions, " Obviously. "And change their name. "

--

"It's it very..." She paused to think of the right word. Earthy? Yeah that sounded perfect. "Earthy too?" She liked the smell of the earth after it rained and the smell of trees. She remembered swamp-like lands as she was growing up. It couldn't be the same place though. No, it simply couldn't. "Well I appreciate the simplification." She chimed.

"What kind of traditions?"

If she felt okay about the traditions she would easily decide that she wanted to see this pride. To join it even. Besides the male beside her was pretty good-looking and interesting. She wouldn't mind spending more time with him. Not at all.

He smiled. "Yes, earthy too. " Can't get much earthier. He dipped his head politely. "My pleasure, " Simplifying had been good for him too, he had a feeling explaining eeeverything would give him a headache. The next question, though, got her a pause and a blank look, and poor Mteremo couldn't think of the right way to talk about his pride. "Uhh.. Well, more-so beliefs and stuff. " And there was the birthing thing, and other things.. And lotsa of things in general. Or perhaps it wasn't that much and he simply considered it a lot because his pride's traditions summed up his whole life.

"I.. don't know exactly how to explain it. " He shrugged. "If you want, I can take you there to see for yourself? " then he dumbly realized they just met, and how weird it must be to invite her over to visit his pride.

"I-I mean, only if you wanna. "

--

"I like earthy things." She told him almost dreamily. She could practically see the place and it made her happy. She had a feeling that she'd like the place, possibly a lot. When he stated that he wasn't sure how to explain it she frowned just the slightest bit. Well that definitely put a damper on things. Then he suggested taking her with him to his homelands. Ah-ha! Her magnificent plan worked!

Of course it did, it was her plan afterall.

Was she conceited? Maybe a little.

"I think I'd like that a lot." She told him in her cheerful tone of voice.

--

He blinked at her response, Mteremo hadn't actually been expecting her to want to go. Though, maybe he shouldn't be soo surprised, she'd seemed somewhat interested. Or bored with-nothing-better-to-do, but lets say interested, it's better than more. "Great! " He smiled, contemplating getting up. "The swamps are actually a couple of days away, though. Soo, do you wanna get moving now and get there sooner, ooor? " He left the 'or' open for her to do whatever. Maybe she wanted to eat. Or take a nap. Or.. do girly things.

--

She laughed softly at his surprise to her acceptance. "A couple of days? We can leave now if you'd like. There's plenty of time to rest later when perhaps we both need it?" She offered moving to stand and stretching her limbs. This was going to be an interesting journey. She hadn't really shown the male her 'flirty' side but she assumed that there would be enough time spent with him to do so. Then maybe she could get him to do things for her. That sounded nice. "It'll be nice to have company for longer than a day."

--

He got up too, but didn't really stretch much, besides wiggling his injured paw a bit. It would do fine, he just wouldn't put too much weight on it. "Okay then! It is.. this way. " He looked around, then nodded towards the direction he was almost positive where leading towards his pridelands. (Almost positive, because he hadn't been objective with his travels and simply wandered around. Here's hoping he didn't get them lost. Once pausing a bit to double check himself, that he would be going the right way, Mterembo began a light trot through the woods, though he looked a little silly because of how lightly he stepped with that one paw.

Then he remembered he actually had company and slowed down at bit, glancing back at the lioness.

--

Mii'ah nodded as he stood and began to trot off. She followed him soundlessly observing, watching as he was careful not to put too much pressure on his wounded paw. Hopefully it would be better in a few days or he would actually let her take a look at it. She could probably help reduce the pain, her mother had taught her a few ways when she had hurt herself as a child. But men had their pride and wouldn't admit to pain unless it was really bad. She followed him in silence unsure if he actually remembered that she was following him. When he looked back she smiled and picked up her pace to walk beside him.

A new beginning was around the horizon she could feel it.
