There was a warm air that lingered around Tsaphiel's wings. It brought a reminiscent and comfortable feeling, one had hadn't felt in ages. As he soared above the quest landscape he sighed and hoped that the wind was also bringing in a new and fresh season. He could tell that lately creature's spirits were down, and winter was becoming a hassle rather than a comfort. No one was interested in the snow anymore, and the everybody was hoping for a fresh bout of Spring. Tsaphiel didn't mind what the weather pertained to, but he did hope that other's could keep their spirits happy and healthy somehow. And if that meant bringing in more sunshine, well, he'd pray for it at least!
Unlike others though, he chose to not enjoy the sunlight. It worked out nicely that he adored the moon's rays in comparison, and when the clouds allowed it Tsaphiel would soar upward on the clearest of nights, and make his way as close to the stars as he could. The feeling of being so close was wonderful for him, and the moonlight was as cherishing to him as sunlight was for others. In truth, he kept his mind focused on the moon at all times so that he would never miss the daylight. But on the most lonely of nights, he truly missed the warm summer days when he ran along with his family and friends. This was his burden, though. And who knew when it could ever change...
Tonight the moon was hiding behind a few clouds, so Tsaphiel decided to focus on his personal tasks instead of his pleasurable ones. He watched the land below him for any sign of life like he always did. His ears were attentive and careful, since he needed to be ready for any kind of noise. He was as silent as the wind was against his fur, and his specialty in observing others was truly as impressive as the stars ability to shine. So, rather then bringing in any of the memories or thoughts that were on his mind, he decided to fly forward and hope that the land was full of peace for the night.

The night was starless. The pinpricks of light were hidden behind layers of cloud, much like her own thoughts and purposes. Only a faint glow behind a group of clouds suggested that the moon was present. The glow was only enough to show the dark outlines of the trees around her and only her bare instinct could stop her from crashing into branches or stumbling into the bushes. Faint traces off the winter snow could be seen here and there across the underbush, but most of it was already gone. Dried leaves rustled slightly from the long gone autumn as the mare walked slowly through them as if she didn't care if she got lost or not. It might have been much easier to just fly through the night and let her thoughts float away just like that, but her thoughts seemed to be clinging almost desperately to her mind that she seemed to lack the motivation to fly.
Astraea paused as she came out of the eaves of the trees and out into a little forest clearing. Her light blue eyes scanned the skies silently, there were still no stars. She dropped her head back down again. Had she keep her gaze up only a moment more, she would have seen a dark shape soaring between the clouds. Yet she had not and now she was staring at her own white hooves glowing strangely in the dark contrasting oddly with the darkness of the ground. She took a big breath again as she savored the darkness. It was lovely, the night. So quiet and so still, the calm before the storm. Lately, she had been more awake during the night than the day. She had slept the darkest corner two-legger's teepee for most of the day and only ventured out at the time of dusk to who knew where. Only into the darkness, the loneliness, the emptiness.
A warm breeze blew through the clearing and she closed her eyes blissfully. Spring was coming. The flowers were going to bloom, birds were going to learn how fly and the world would be alive with happiness. Yet the thrill of the upcoming spring seemed to have left her. As a foal, she had always thought adulthood to be a glorious thing. To be an adult was to do everything right, to be able to face whatever difficulties there were before her. But why did make her feel so empty? She was nothing, nothing that mattered, nothing but a stupid soquili lost in the turn of the world. She had no past, nothing.
Left as a basket before a two legger's teepee with no memory of who her parents were, she was adopted by a kind stallion who she called Big Brother. For long she had lived happily under his care, yet as time passed, she felt strangely different, isolated, lost. Who was she? Who were her parents? Where had she came from? Why had her parents left her? She had often fantasized that her parents were beautiful soquilis who had left her for her own good and would in time come back to claim her. Yet as the days pasted and no one ever did come, her sense of loneliness seemed to increase until she finally began to crumble underneath its weight. There seemed to be no clear focus in life anymore, every night as starless as this one, nothing more than whispers in the wind...nothingness. The world was empty, swallowed by the gaping mouth of the night into nothing. Nothing.((To the stat counter: Astraea lives in ~InfinityTrust~'s Teepee and her stats haven't been updated at all. I think that might have been the reason. ^^; Hope that helps. ))

The mare's movements were suddenly heard by the stallion, and he made a quick swerve and found a steady ledge to rest his body on. His ears flicked as he continued listening for small rustles and crunching, but where the sound came from was unfortunately unknown to him. Tsaphiel preferred surveying from ledges anyhow, and from his own memory he knew of one that would give his eyes enough distance to watch the landscape. He found it important to also give his wings time to regenerate especially since he was always on the move somehow. So, for now he could focus on what was ahead of him rather than on his strength. As the noise continued on in front of him he knew he had found his target for the evening. Hopefully he could be of help!
The hardest part of finding somebody was tracking down their figure, and although there was an apparent noise ahead of him, Tsaphiel realized that the creature may have been somewhat darker like himself. He wouldn't give up on his search though, and he snorted lightly while shifting his eyes back and forth back and forth. He was incredibly stubborn when it came to giving up, especially when the prospect of another in danger could have been an option! He'd never leave someone alone after discovering them. That was as bad as torture!
But then, he saw it! Without even completely processing the movement his eyes had caught, he leaped back into the air and soared forward and towards the ground. When his hooves touched base he found himself galloping from the sheer speed of it all. And finally, many feet in front of him, he saw the figure of another. So he wasn't seeing things, he had found them! The other creature had most likely heard him at this point, since Tsaphiel was never hasty to surprise others, and he was always noisy on purpose when approaching strangers. But even so, he decided to speak out, since the creature could have been focusing elsewhere.
"I hope you don't mind me disturbing your evening, but I wanted to make sure you were all right. It's very uncommon for someone to be wandering on their own this late at night- do you need any assistance?" He kept himself furthered from the creature since not everyone sought his support. He'd soon learn what the mysterious figure wanted, but until then he kept his posture tall and his eyes forward and direct. He was trying to make out with his eyes if the Soquili in front of him was a stallion or mare, but so far he could at least tell that they weren't a Kalona!

She closed her eyes as she tried to clear her thoughts. Yet even there that darkness lingered, now with the absense of the dim shadows of the trees and the underbush...even darker. It was now completely empty and in the emptiness, the mare felt strangely at peace. There was nothing there just the soft tuouch of the chilly breeze blowing through the forest clearing. It felt so empty, just her standing stranded in the middle of nowhere just like when she had been a little filly trapped in her basket. Trapped, lost and alone. Though she had been raised by Big Brother and the two legger, the loneliness didn't cease to release yet cling on to her like many flies over rotting meat. Buzzing over her until she would be entirely devoured.
Astraea jumped at the sound of the voice and immediately opened her eyes. Her thoughts had been elsewhere and so she had not heard the sound of the stranger's approach but she did return back to the present as the voice came. It was still dark, of course it was still nightime, so she had no trouble adjusting to the dim surroundings. The faint glimmer of white behind the thick blanket of clouds did little to help the mare discern the source of the voice. It seemed to have come from her right so that way she turned yet there seemed to be no one in site.
She paused for a few more seconds before saying softly,"No, it is no trouble. I'm..." She paused before continueing, "perfectly fine. Sorry if I had worried you..." She trailed off, at a loss to say with her puzzlement of the sudden arrival of who knew whom. For all she knew, she could just be speaking to midair and the voice had just been a delusion. Or worse, the voice had been of a Kalona's or Skinwalker's. Though she had never met any of these breeds, she wasn't entirely kin to met them either. She had often heard stories about them from Big Brother, always filled with blood and murder. Yet from the voice and the words he said, the stranger meant no harm, or at least of any she could tell.
She blinked, having just noticed a darker shape that had before appeared to just be another tree and now upon closer expection, taken the shape of a soquili. He was still too far away to tell what breed he was, but the stranger was a soquili no doubt and not just the whispering wind. A faint trace of curiosity wondered who the stranger was and why he was traveling at this hour. She had half a mind to ask these questions yet dismissed the thought almost immediately. It would be impolite. She paused as she waited for the stranger's reply.

From her quick reaction Tsaphiel felt awful for startling her. His dark coloring was a pain for this reason, and no matter how careful he was, he was constantly creeping up on other's comfort zones. But, something about the mare's voice was unsettling for him, and although she admitted to being alright, he didn't find it possible considering the circumstances. She seemed as though something was bothering her, but if it was internal Tsaphiel could never truly know. He had to make sure of the situation some more and ask more questions so that the mare was fully aware of his presence. That way he could also find out more and see what he could do- even if it was very little. "I mean you no harm, so I pray you don't mind me coming a little closer, in hopes that your eyes get used to my figure."
So with that, Tsaphiel took three or four steps forward until he was comfortably in front of the female. He could now tell that she had wings and long hair, and her eyes stood out rather naturally against the darkened atmosphere. They were so alive and bright, and it made him think of a clear blue sky on a perfect day. "Let me introduce myself, I'm Tsaphiel, and I spotted you and made my way over here out of concern. Though, I did not mean to intrude of course. Many nights go by where I find that many are asleep and comforted. But, seeing you was somewhat shocking for me. It is rather late." he then smiled lightly but figured she couldn't see such a reaction. He tried to keep his voice calm and soothing, so that she could read his emotions in that way at least.
He quieted himself when his introduction was over and flapped his wings in response to a light breeze. Luckily the weather was rather mild for the evening, and hopefully with time the moon would drape across the sky and lead to more light for the area. He gazed his eyes upward to observe the slow moving clouds that blocked the natural skyline. He would understand if the mare didn't want his company. There were many nights when he would do this sort of scenario, introduce himself and then walk away since the other creature was unfriendly to the idea of communicating. But, he would see with this female, and he hadn't given up hope yet.
He may have been 'doing' his duty as a night guard, but he'd never miss the opportunity to chat with somebody new. His life was a rather lonely and quiet one- so, when the opportunity arrived, he flew to it!

A light smile crept on her lips as the mare replied, “That would be much appreciated.” The loneliness of the night forest seemed to have crept on her as the impending darkness pressed on her, the stranger’s company would be appreciative. Though she had wandered alone through the darkness in the past, rejecting her big brother’s company, she felt strangely comforted by the stranger’s presence. And his mysteriousness seemed to lure her into an odd sense of peace. Hearing the voice, she could almost tell that it was no Kalona or Skinwalker. It was filled with such tranquility and good will. Mean no harm it said, and she believed, the stranger did not mean any harm. If it was her fate to die this night because of her sense of fate put upon a Kalona or Skinwalker, so be it. She knew in her heart that the stranger couldn’t possibly be one so her nerves relaxed and her previous calm, if that was what it was called, returned accordingly.
Astraea blinked as the stranger formed from the darkness. He was a stallion, his black pelt blending almost perfectly with the darkness of the night. It was not a wonder that the mare hadn’t spotted him before. Yet in the midst of the blackness were streaks of a pale pink…scars. Scars. The stallion must have gone through a lot of turmoil in his life to be here today. A soft sadness shone in her eyes as she peered at them unblinkingly. So many scars…what had happened to him? No, it would be impolite to ask. The overwhelming wave of memories crashing down…this she knew all too well. Often she had been asked where her parents were. She had always answered with a big plastered smile on her face that she lived with Big Brother, but inside, her heart had felt strangled. She did not wish to bring these memories back…and she knew, or guessed, that the stallion before did now want them to be resurfaced it.
She let her eyes wander from the scars as she faced the stallion. His hair was of ebony and it was only now that she noticed the many black wings sprouting from his back. He was an Angeni. A soft gleam came into her eyes as she saw this. It came to no surprise to her that he was neither Kalona nor Skinwalker. The dark abysses of the eyes peering through the ebony hair did not frighten nor unnerve her. They seemed to be feel strangely familiar, and she felt comforted. She smiled softly as she heard the stallion’s, now Tsaphiel’s, introduction. She felt strangely glad that he had been concerned about her, though it no doubt was rather bothersome to the stallion that he had flown here and discovered that she was in no sense of real danger. Yet still, she felt strangely…important, needed, like she was something that was necessary to be concerned over.
A light ripple of laughter escaped from her mouth as she smiled softly, saying, “Yes, indeed it is rather late…” She seemed to look rather lost for a moment before continuing, ”Pleased to meet you, Tsaphiel. My name is Astraea.” Her gaze traveled up to the dark sky once more, it was still starless, but the faint glow of the moon glimmered still from behind the thick blanket of cloud. It seemed to give her odd sense of courage which caused her to say softly, ”The night is very beautiful, is it not? So quiet, so serene. It’s as if you’re the only one in the whole world.” At this, she closed her eyes, and continued, ”Even when you close your eyes, it seems like the night hasn’t disappeared at all. The darkness, the emptiness and the despair are all still there. It’s no one but me standing in the midst of the darkness, alone. The loneliness, the despair, it eats away at you in the darkness so that the light becomes a kind of support, food.” The soft warmth of the sun shining on her back and the stars twinkling in the night sky seemed to echo in her memories.
”Yet as time passes, the light seems empty, fake, fading…I got tired of the sun always shining and the birds singing because whenever the sun shined and the birds sang, I felt alone…on my own little island. Could that even be possible? To feel alone in such a crowded world? I retreated into the night because it felt…more peaceful.” A soft smile grew on her face as she looked at the ground thoughtfully,”It must be almost spring now. I could hear the birds calling to each other inside the two legger’s teepee where I slept. Flowers must be blooming and new life everyone. The world is alive…yet why do I feel strangely empty?” The mare stopped abruptly noticing the amount of things she had just said. Embarrassment washed over as she mentally reprimanded herself of being such a bother and a burden to a stallion she had just met. It had been the first time that she had fully expressed her thoughts, worries and actions to another soquili. After a few moments pause, a chuckle from her as she laughed at her own frivolous thoughts and saying, ”I guess that’s why I like wandering in the night. Silly, isn’t it?” Absolutely silly, her words, her thoughts and herself. Yet why did she felt such a need to hear Tsaphiel say that they were not silly?

Tsaphiel went silent as the mare confessed what was really on her mind. She may have been embarrassed from speaking out so openly, but he was very glad she did. It was his job to give those he met the kindness and comfort they deserved. And, if Astraea needed any kind of interaction or guidance, then he would certainly comply. His eyes watched her carefully as she spoke, and her voice felt very soothing almost as if conducting in a lullaby. There was a great youth to this mare, and she must have been just a tad younger than himself. So, was she somewhat new to the world as well? That might have been another reason why she was so conflicted with all that surrounded the destiny that was life.
But, listening to her speak was difficult at times, only because Tsaphiel had been in similar thoughts not long ago. It wasn't until he began his own destiny where he found that one could live their life amongst others whenever they wished. Still, finding one's own destiny was not an easy task. He could imagine the time and effort that most had to take, and now that he thought about it, finding his own path took months on end as well!"Never be embarrassed to admit how you are feeling. Please, allow me to help you in any way I can." he then moved so that he was standing next to the mare, and he was offering her a large smile in response. "Shall we walk a bit and talk? That might help any anxieties or thoughts. Or at least, it has worked for me in the past."
From what he could gather, it seemed like most of the stress in Astraea's life came from loneliness. But, she was at a point past general sadness. She had adjusted her life to be more comfortable, and now she was roaming amongst the nighttime just as he was. That was surprising to him, since not many enjoyed the nighttime as much as he did. "I've always found the night to be the most comfortable atmosphere. At least any true fears can hide alongside my shadows I cannot see." he sighed softly, and understood the mare's concept very well. But when she spoke of light he was even more surprised. It wasn't common for anybody to find light as fake, but the mare had good reason. He wondered what has caused her to feel so uncomfortable. It was not his place to ask, though. If she wanted it then she would need to come out about it. Tsaphiel was only there to aid, not pry.
"You may feel alone, but I doubt that you are truly alone. That isn't to say that I don't believe you, of course." he nodded lightly and hoped to clear up any rudeness that may have come with his statement. "Surely there are others you know of who have had an impact on your life? Or you on theirs?" If the mare would answer no, then he would work on a different approach. But, he had to learn more about her, and figure out what it was that kept her from feeling such sadness and worry about such a broad issue.
"The emptiness you feel can only be determined and discovered by you. I can offer my aid and voice, but I am shamed to say that I cannot bring the true thoughts out of you. In these sorts of moments, one must have a revelation. You must key out the problems you find most destructive, and then move on to what revelations come from discovering yourself." He paused then, and kept his eyes forward so he wouldn't make her nervous or anything by staring. "Like I said, I am more than honored to keep you company throughout this process, and help you as best as I can. It pains me to see you so affected by these issues. So, it would be my greatest joy to help."
The burden of the other mare was too much for him to even think about personally, so he couldn't imagine letting her walk away without SOME kind of guidance. He prayed that he could make her feel better somehow, and allow her to open up on some intricate details. Where did such a measure of loneliness come from? Hopefully Astraea's life was not as somber as she made it seemed... and if such was so, then he would help her most definitely. "Everything will be ok, I promise."

Astraea looked towards the darkness beneath the eaves of trees,"I never knew my parents...I was left as a basket in front of a teepee beside the sea. The twolegger and two stallions who lived there adopted me. One of them, I grew up calling big brother. They were all nice to me...but I never seemed to be satisfied. I wanted to see my parents, yet there were no news of any of them. Nobody knew them or heard of them. It's like they never existed. I went looking for them once upon a time, but I didn't find them and I just gave up. And even if I had found them, what would I say? Cry tears of happiness or yell at them for abandoning me? I don't know...I'll never know because I doubt I'll ever find them." She said these last words a bit bitterly but as she continued, her words seem to become more soft,"It doesn't really matter anyway."
The mare smiled lightly in response to Tsaphiel's words, "I guess I'm not truly alone. I have big brother and I've met a few other soquili. Yet why do I still suffer? I have practically everything I could ever wish for, yet it's like I'm missing something. Everyday is a long journey to a place I do not know. What would be at the end? Happiness, despair, peace, violence or just nothing...nothing at all? I guess this is what people mean when they say what is the meaning of life. Nobody really knows, not even when they leave this world...That's the purpose of life I guess, trying to find something you can never find even if you spend your whole life looking for it."
"Mhm. The darkness of the night makes fears seem real and yet so unreal. You know that the fears are dwelling somewhere in that stomach of darkness yet you aren't afraid to face them because you know that they're just shadows of the night, gone by day. If walking under the darkness of the sky stops the fears from coming, why does nott the world do so? Spending everyday in the brightness of the sun, cowering at the approaching darkness of the night. They see happiness in the day and despair in the night..."
She stopped suddenly and looking slightly abashed,"I didn't mean any offense to anybody. I was just wondering, nothing inteneded..." She faded off and stared at the barely visible ground beneath her hooves. She moved a hoof absentmindly on the ground watching its progress and said softly towards the stallion's knees,"Thank you for listening to me for so long. I really appreciate it. I feel like I've let out a heavy weight off my back. Thank you."
(( So sorry that the reply is so late. ;;;; Shot me if I ever take this long again. It seemed Astraea took an understanding to his words and felt like sharing what was on her mind. Tsaphiel was silent as she spoke, only watching the light hues of the stars bounce off of her light eyes. It was all as he guessed; she had a ton to deal with. It must have been hard never knowing one's family, he suddenly felt very selfish. He also felt selfish that he hadn't visited his own, and rather was focusing on his own atonement with others. Astraea may not have known it but Tsaphiel was learning from the mare's own experiences and words. He was thankful in that regard, so now he really wanted to help her as much as he could.
"I wouldn't give up hope on not finding them." he finally inquired when he noticed the mare took a light breath of air from her speech. "We all are blessed with so much time in our lives, and miracles do indeed happen. You may stumble upon a familiar scent, or even a familiar face or voice that you could only recognize from your dreams." And if that happened, it would truly be amazing for her. "I pray for you that you can at least ask why you were left as you were, and find out the truth so you may be at peace. I can help you search if you ever need it."
Her suffering was hard for him to pinpoint in reason, and he shook his head and could only smile at her lightly. "First off, you don't have to thank me. Please continue on as much as needed. I am here because I want to be here, and it pains my heart to hear you say such things." he paused then and tried to trace where her emotions were coming from. "Everybody has a different purpose of what life is. What you consider as the purpose may be different than my own- I only live to enjoy and help others. My family is the same way, that is what we do." And usually they were pretty good at helping others.
"As for the fears, they only come out if you ask them to." he hated to say it, but such could be true. "If you want them to go away, then you must bid them and control them. We all have fears, hell, I am constantly battling mine. But I'd hate to see you miss out on such lovely aspects to the world if you are distracted by such dark thoughts." He patted her lightly with his wing and sighed while staring at the stars. "I'll admit, life is complicated, but it is also quite beautiful."

She looked up at him once more, a pale gleam of hope streaking across her eye like a shooting star, "you really think it's possible...?" It was strange, that he seemed to have more confidence in it than she did herself, but seeing that in another somewhat renewed her own; like a candle going out but being relit by another candle. "I could never ask for more..." She felt humbled that an angeni would even offer to pray for her own sake, though she was quite sure she didn't have enough nerve to really request if he could help her. On the other hand she could imagine herself asking if he could help her- but really only for the sake of talking to him longer... but that would be quite selfish. It was just something about his words that made her feel like he deeply understood, and that somewhat enchanted her.
Astraea nodded slightly, but picked up 'family' again, "you're family..." She had never considered Tsaphiel's history, that he had a family... he seemed like such the lonely type, "what are they like...?" She didn't want to pry, but was curious if they really all were like him. Now that I think about it more he reminds me of someone... Not only in looks, but in name and personality too. "Tsaphiel, you wouldn't happen to know another angeni named Taharial, would you? She was the one that taught me how to fly." She remembered the beautiful white mare very clearly- and how she had such shiny hair! There was another too, that she could think of but maybe they were a little more far fetched and chances seemed slimmer.
Taking in his words she felt very comforted by the light pat. He was right... she could not let fears just take a hold of her, she wouldn't be able to enjoy and admire the stars as she always has- the sky was like a mother to her; the starry night sky had been the first think she saw when she escaped her basket. Looking up she gazed at the stars with him. If there was a creature that created stars in the sky then that creature must also create dreams in the hearts of others. She closed her eyes for a minute, feeling the breeze lightly ruffle her mane. Though everything was so far away sometimes it felt so close that she could touch it. Opening her eyes for a second she had fooled herself into thinking that stars were palpable. Lowering her head till it was level again she glanced at the earth floor, wondering if where they lived was a world that really was stuck between two of heaven and hell.

It seemed the mare wanted to know a bit about him, so he chuckled very softly and expected such. It was probably strange for her to be telling so much about herself to a stranger she knew nothing about. He supposed he could help by telling a bit about his family members. "My family is quite big and rather complicated." he finally admitted, with a usual smile when he spoke of the issue. "Unfortunately I don't know everybody I am related to. But I have heard of her, yes. I grew up with her because she is my sister."
Yes... his youth. It was a kind and quiet time. He had no complaints, besides one incident. But he had moved forward and became exactly what he was today. "Everyone in our family enjoys helping others. I am pleased to know she was there in aiding you and was kind enough." She was very quick in the skies and would have been a great individual to learn from. She was also patient and had a big heart, which was important. Tsaphiel found it amusing that the mare had met someone so closely related to him. The world was much smaller then he had imagined, it seemed.
He noticed that the mare then took a moment to take what he had said to her heart, and she became very quiet all of the sudden. It was refreshing because Tsaphiel was watching her absorb all of the words he had said. Not many actually listened, so this was nice. Unfortunately as creatures Soquilis liked to believe they knew absolutely everything there was to know in the universe. Tsaphiel knew quite well that this was so wrong. But there were some known things, or rather, helpful tidbits that were healthy for the soul. It was best to share those in hopes of a better mental progression for everybody. Hopefully Astraea could move forward in how she liked and not allow her fears to take over anymore.
"So how long do you plan on keeping yourself up in this chilly night? I only worry for your well being since most creatures need sufficient enough sleeping hours." He smiled at her generally and hoped to disrupt her a bit from her much deeper thoughts. She would need much more time then tonight to process a new way of thinking and he found it best to clear her mind a bit.

Astraea smiled gently as she listened to Tsaphiel talk about his family. It must be nice having such a big family that one didn’t know everyone in it. The mare felt a slight tinge of jealously, but she ignored it. It was okay now, she was getting over it. Maybe one day she would meet her family, and that hope was enough for her to be content. The burden had dropped off and she felt lighter than air. She was going to live, yes and be happy. She’ll be fine. There was nothing to fear in the unknown. It’ll be fine.
She laughed, the first time she had in a while and answered, “That must be nice. Having such a big family I mean. The surprises in store would be interesting, no?” She paused and continued, “You’re lucky to have such a nice sister. Taharial helped me a lot…” Indeed she had, Taharial had given her the joy of flight, even a small feeling of family. If she hadn’t had Taharial’s help, she would probably have remained with wings but flightless even now. Aeolus and Casanova were good guardians sure, but they had no wings so she could never learn flight from them. Flight was an amazing feeling, feeling the wind blow against her face as she soared through the clouds with the birds. It was like touching the sky, mysterious and refreshing. In those skies, she once felt unconquerable, that is before the darkness set in her. But that darkness was now gone with Tsaphial’s words.
Astraea came back from her thoughts at Tsaphial’s words, “A bit longer I think.” She grinned, “I sleep for most of the daytime so you can say that I’m still pretty much wide awake now, more or less.” She paused before she continued, “The night is very beautiful isn’t it? It seems that I’ve forgotten that for awhile now because I retreated too much into myself.” She shook her mane slightly, trying to get that lingering heaviness off, “The stars are bright tonight. Have you ever wondered, if you flew high enough, would you be able to touch them?” She stopped suddenly noticing her foolishly and quickly blurted, “Of course I know that stars are great orbs of fire and that if you touch them, you will get burned to death. So please ignore my previous question…” She trailed off back into silence.

"I am lucky." he agreed, while bowing his head politely. "But we all have little things here and there to be lucky for. I like to believe that we can all make our own luck." he grinned and hoped he wasn't talking about himself too much. That wasn't in his nature. He much preferred learning as much as possible about others and focusing on them entirely. But she seemed curious about little things towards him and that was kind of refreshing. Usually he was stuck only thinking about depressing things because that's what other's focused on. Not that he complained of course! But tonight was different, and it was wonderful. Sort of like a nice break from everything he was used to.
"Ah, so you enjoy staying up late as well? That is unusual, most refrain from doing that. It must get lonely for you sometimes. I pray that isn't true for you?" he looked at her gently and felt a bit of worry arise per usual. Before he could worry further, he grinned at her next statement. He glided his eyes upward and watched the twinkles happen left and right. Stars really were perfect looking. They were such a pleasant gift from the skies. His parents liked to name the brightest ones and use them when needing directions. Most of his siblings would still get lost even with the stars help!
"No reason to take back what you so pleasantly said." he finally added while ruffling his wings. "It would be nice to touch them, but no one is that lucky. But you know. I think that's what makes stars so special. That we can only admire and just dream from them." Well, that's what he did at least. He did enjoy admiring such beautiful aspects of nature. If only others could appreciate stars at much as they did. Other's just weren't as lucky!

Astraea grinned. It would have been great if she could make her own luck, but alas, that was not the case. Life was life and whether she liked it or not, she was stuck with it. Yet at Tsaphial's comment, a small firework erupted in her heart. Maybe she could make her own luck. Even though she had been born with perhaps less luck then most foals, but that didn't really matter anymore, did it? That was the past. She would have to crave her own path, with luck or not. The prospect of having such a firm grip on her life was refreshing. For so long, it had seemed to slip continously out of her grip, as if she was a mere leaf blowing in the wind, a small boat in the vast ocean. But she had caught it again, landed, found land.
Astraea shook her head, "Perhaps the loneliness was what I searched for when I decided to travel by night than day, but looking at it now. The night isn't lonely at all. It may be quiet, but that's the beauty of the night. Don't you think?" She closed her eyes at this as she took a deep breath of the cool night air. With her eyes still closed, she continued,"I can feel the life. It's as if the earth is breathing as I close my eyes. It taking one big slow breath at a time...I can't hear that during the day time with all the hustle and bustle. But now, it's so quiet that it's refreshing."
The mare blinked, her face turning a light pink. Not many appreciated her strange quirks. "I guess so. Stars are like dreams. So high and seemly impossible to reach, but maybe, one day. Maybe one day someone will touch the stars, maybe one day everyone's dream will come true. After all, we just have to try, don't we? And in the end, maybe one day."
