As anticipation for the Scout update builds, I thought that we might have an all-encompassing thread to cover Team Fortress 2 news. 1. I will try to keep this thread up to date as Valve begins to leak news about the update, including release date. 2. Discuss the information released, or speculate the new weapons for the Scout (or future class updates, for that matter). 3. Valve recently made several minor updates for the game. Get some information here.I know that this is a lot more focused than some topics, but a free-play weekend is a good chance to get some guild interaction, especially if we want to avoid the thousands of Scouts that will inevitably be running around every single server for that week. EDIT 2/17/2009: Well the update site is up here. 6 entries, one for every weekday. Looks pretty cool, but there are a lot more things that they could do with this. Also on the free play weekend, typically update ships on Tuesday, and anyone can play TF2 starting Friday. See you in a week, tough guys! BONK! EDIT 2/18/2009: Two new maps. One for Arena, one for Gravel Pit style CP. EDIT 2/19/2009: Energy Drink and achievement names announced. EDIT 2/20/2009: HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO s**t!!! Two more maps announced, one with a new style, one a fixed community map. EDIT 2/24/2009: Albeit late, Force-A-Nature announced. Hopefully will have another update here for the last entry on the Scout update page. EDIT 2/24/2009 remix: Wow. Valve doesn't seem to be doing the free play weekend, but instead are offering TF2 at half the price. I haven't looked to confirm, but that should make it a whopping $9.99. Never a better time to join in on the fun biggrin On a second note, Valve let us decide the pecking order of the weapons. Force-A-Nature unlocked at 10 achievements, Sandman at 15, and BONK! Energy Drink at 20.

It has a lot more lift than the Demo's grenades, making it a little different to handle. After a while, though, you will be glad that you can set people on fire from afar.

Sandman...interesting. I'll have to use it before I pass judgment, but the first sneak peek is looking pretty good.

Mr Jawes Sandman...interesting. I'll have to use it before I pass judgment, but the first sneak peek is looking pretty good. You can't double jump, but then you can launch the ******** from afar.

Sure, it looks like a decent range weapon, which the Scout has been lacking, but I can't help but feel my speed as a Scout be compromised. Also, I'm not sure I like that it works against an uber. Unless it is very hard to use, that's too much push against the Medic, and he was the first update because he was the least used.

Seems like a fun way to screw around, though. I mean, i never play scout, but when I do, I'd like to hassle the other team as much as possible. Especially those snipers.

Well, it depends on how many baseballs you can launch in a small amount of time, since one, if there is an Uber, there is usually a flock of everything else trying to get through and help wipe out everything the Uber isn't catching, and two, Snipers are getting REALLY ******** good, and I suspect you'd have to be still to get an good an accurate launch off at an Uber, which isn't good for you in the first place. Still, if you can get the time needed, which isn't really that hard to do if everyone is doing what they're supposed to, then you should be able to get off maybe 2/3 balls before having to move to a different spot. That's good enough in a tight situation, especially if your team can confuse everyone with an Uber of your own. Don't forget, Medics are sticking to Demos and Pryos as well, and they are much faster to deal with than the usual Heavy. ********, I've seen Uber'd Spy's, as a BATTLE PLAN. Also, prepare for the obligatory balls jokes that will be raining from the sky when this Update hits next week.

I mean as a GENERAL battle plan, for like, EVERYTHING. You don't know how...weird it is. I need to stop playing custom maps. Which means stop playing 2fort2serious...but I love those guys to much.

Depending on the spy you get, it can be very effective because the revolver does deal a lot of damage, but the spy would have a hard time fighting more than one person without the extra health. If all else fails, there's still top stabs.
