Class
You've been assigned a project to create something applying a basic principle of physics (such as Newton's Three Laws of Motion) and present it. What do you create and how does the project go?

It was midday, still rather chilly, and Wei was exhausted. He was honestly trying to ween himself away from the Mall crowd but unfortunately some people wouldn't let him go. Which was why he was clad in yesterday's clothes, obviously wrinkled. Though he had showered after he had done a short...work out.

The brunette had walked into the classroom and immediately went to a seat in the front of the class. As much as he wanted to sleep he knew he was terribly behind. It was time that he took his destiny into his own hands once more, instead of just letting things happen.

Still, it didn't stop him from putting his head down on the desk. His hair, tangled and frizzy (he had lost his hair tye sometime last night), falling all around him. He'd properly get up when the instructor entered.

Physics. Yes, this was much more Scyeth's speed. He liked hands-on, but putting his hands into the innards of a frog was maybe just a little too-hands on for the youth. The blond pushed into the door and spotted the crumpled heap that mildly resembled Weiyuan immediately. One predatory growl later, the Australian was seated next to his once-rival.

"Not sleeping well, Wei?" A wicked smirk. "Well, it's just me and you, sunshine, so you better wake up and get your game face on." Scyeth was certain he could Ace this class, complicated math involved or not. Norman expected all As from the soldier-in-training, and by god, straight As is what Scyeth was going to give him.

The brunette turned his head, one eye appearing from a mess of chocolate locks. He had thought he recognized that voice. He hadn't heard that voice since that one meeting in the main room of the dorms which he had conveniently vacated as soon as he could.

The elder of the two groaned into his arm before sitting up and arranging his things. "Fine. Just make sure that if you launch something it's nowhere in my direction." He produced sheets of various physics-related projects. But knowing the blonde he'd pick one of the ones involving projectiles. Wei just had this huge feeling that somehow he was going to get hurt. Somehow....

"You may send it my way, Scyeth. I am likely to catch it." A large grin from a tan, muscled teen, and Canaan shut the door behind him, approaching the two boys and taking a seat next to them. "Good morning." He hadn't seen Scyeth since before his promotion. "Are you well?" His blazing blue eyes locked briefly with the blonde's before traveling to Wei's.

The Drag Queen? "Weiyuan, if I remember?"

"Canaan! It is good to see you again!" Scyeth's morning just got 100% better! Even if Weiyuan was going to be a drag (hurhur), Canaan would still help with the project. It was also likely to be much more explosive. (Unless Cane actually wanted to do it right, in which case, Scyeth might have to consider the merits of actually doing his schoolwork himself.)

"I am good, getting loose ends tied up. I see you are a science student now? Well done." Shame Scyeth didn't plan on sticking around at this level any longer than he needed to. "So, what shall it be, guys? What projectiles should we be launching?"

Scyeth wanted to build a catapult and Luna save the souls who tried to stop him.

Thank his Ancestors for this savior! In his tired state, there was nothing that could've made his day any worse than having Scyeth launch things at him. But with someone else to help distract the blonde perhaps he'd go unscathed for once. He sat up fully, running his fingers through his hair in a bad attempt to fix it.

Finally, the eldest of the three turned to face the darker male. He seemed...familiar. Dark skin, blue eyes...Oh. Oooooooooooh. It was that piece of eye candy that wanted to do...whatever that one game was called. My, my. How he had grown. Wei likey. (But could not have-y. Studies Weiyuan Studies!) "Ah, yes. Canaan was it?"

Weiyuan turned to the excited Scyeth, rolling his eyes. Of course he'd want to launch something..."Doesn't matter. We all know you won't be doing any of the calculations." He flashed a sneer in his somewhat-former nemesis' direction.

Cane's grin was big and warm at the greetings. Both seemed rather pleased to see him, and he was pleased in return. That was how such things went with the native. Reaching across his desk, he gripped Scy's forearm in a warrior's handshake, nodding. "Thank you, I am pleased to be in my proper school." A pause with a rueful grin. "Though I must admit I am eager to move on and begin my real studies."

Blue eyes slid over to the half-chinese boy and he nodded slowly. "Yes, Canaan." Weiyuan didn't look too good this morning. He was attractive [ as most of the people were here, Cane had noticed], but was clearly not on top of his game. Tangled hair, wrinkled clothes... A long night, perhaps? A large hand slid into his pocket and pulled out a comb, offering it to the other male by setting it on the desk. Cane had come from his morning workout already, and was now freshly showered, hence having a few grooming articles on his person.

Tying his own dark strands back, he raised an eyebrow at the exchange between Scyeth and Weiyuan. "I am sure Scyeth is capable." A laugh. "But perhaps a collision would be better than a catapult?" A brow furrow. "Of course, we could make two catapults and use them to create a collision."

Holy smokes. Cane was talking. A lot. He did love to build things.

"Holy ********, YES."

Canaan was a man after his own heart. Absolutely brilliant. The blond even found it in him to overlook the fact Canaan carried a comb around in his pocket (what was he, a girl?) in light of such an amazing idea. "Yes. Oh, yes." The Australian shivered with excitement. Between the three of them, this idea was entirely plausible. And who was going to stop them? Scyeth cackled with delight and threw down his notebook, flicking through pages until he found a blank one.

The blond began to sketch wildly. "So, what's the scale? How bid do we wanna go, how far? And what are our materials?" the blond rattled, suddenly in a creative frenzy.

...what was this? Scyeth working?

The brunette watched as the two shared a handshake, he suppose it could be called. It wasn't very familiar with any sorts of culture besides his own. But he was mostly willing to accept it all, unless it was something just simply creepy.

Weiyuan looked at the comb in front of him. That's rather convenient. He should start carrying a comb with him too. Carefully he freed his hair of any tangles and knots. He glanced over at the brainstorming blonde and his hunky companion before easily pulling his hair into a bun. No hair tye, no clips, no nothing. It was a really feminine kind of hairstyle but learning how to do it from his Nai Nai (grandmother).

Finally he stood up, going to the corner of the room where building supplies were. It seemed to be well stocked, they'd definately have the chance to make two items. "Solid wood, pre-cut. No saws for you Scyeth." Ancestors help them all if they allowed Scyeth something sharp along with the ability to launch things. The brunette looked up, noticing basic designs for a Ballista on the wall.

It was like a large ground-based crossbow. Longer and sharper projectiles called for pure accuracy. That was much more of Weiyuan's style. It was definately more complicated than a regular catapult or trebuchet. They had supplies for one too. "You'll have enough for a trebuchet or catapult. But how about we have a Ballista as well? Your war machine versus mine?" He turned back over to the boys, a smirk on his face.

Nothing like friendly competition.

PostPosted: Sat Feb 14, 2009 9:29 am

Canaan's brow rose. "If we are having a competition, then we cannot build them all together, or it will defeat the purpose. I get the feeling I have the most experience putting things together." A look for Scyeth. He was more of the destroying type, and Weiyuan? Well. Cane just had a feeling. "Still, if you would like to do this...." A hand wave, "Thing, I will help either of you. Scyeth versus Weiyuan." A grin. "I will simply be your toy, to follow your instructions."

Basically, Scyeth and Weiyuan could design their various war machines, and Canaan would help build them. That was the fun part, in his mind. A hand went to the knife he generally kept on him. "I am also skilled with carving if we need any detailed changes to the wood." Of course, he did like working with metal a bit more... Ah, well. Perhaps that was advanced work.

"I claim Cane as mine," Scyeth grunted. He was clearly better than Weiyuan. And he was the soldier, so he obviously needed this more, too. And his design would be away more awesome, to the nth degree. He wasn't copying anything off the wall, he was designing something formed from a basic idea. And, what's more, he could totally see the design Weiyuan was working from. He wouldn't Weiyuan defeat him!

Scyeth, head still down, had already accepted the challenge. Ripping the paper from his book and folding it, he nodded to Cane. "Let's get this show on the road, man," he said, pacing over to the supplied Weiyuan had already found. "We only have, like, one class, so it's gotta be good, and we gotta put it together fast." The Australian grinned to himself again. Wow.

Today was totally rad.

Weiyuan rolled his eyes, not amused by Scyeth in any way. "Canaan can do whatever he wishes. And besides I thought Rui was yours." He snorted lightly, picking his pieces with care by weight each. Heavy pieces for the base, thin for the frame, a rubber band would suffice for the bowstring. Ballista's were accurate war machines but had limited range, but considering this room was only so large, he didn't think it a problem.

Wei didn't like to rush his actions, he tended to do things steadily over a period of time. He did things right the first time and the first time only. Taking his supplies, he went across the room from where Scyeth was, just so that they didn't have to move their machines after they were built. There was wood glue instead of nails and hammers, a shame, because his war machine used sharp pointed bolts instead of giant rocks. And he wouldn't mind sending a few nails in Scy's direction....but he could exactly hurt Scyeth with flying nails without Rui noticing now could he?

Lucky b*****d.

In a few moments time he had constructed most of it, but his other pieces required modification "Ah, Canaan, could you help me a bit? I could use your carving skills."

Canaan had calmly watched their exchange, simply smiling when Scyeth made his claim before examing the supply area as Weiyuan did so. Standing next to the other boy, he couldn't help but notice that he did seem to know what he was doing, that he was capable. That was nice. The native let Scy work on designing his war machine while he pushed aside pieces of wood to find a large box.

"Scyeth." Cane looked over his shoulder. "We have some sheets of thin metal and a few pipes available to us, along with some nuts and bolts, as well." There were also washers and some tools. He let the blonde know, so that if he wanted, he could incorporate more than wood.

Letting Weiyuan choose supplies first, Cane drifted back over to wear Scyeth sketched, until the half-chinese student called him. Moving quickly, Cane was back across the room, on one knee, examining Weiyuan's work.

"Of course. What would you like?"
PostPosted: Mon Feb 16, 2009 6:46 am

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Didn't claiming mean anything these days?

"Metal, huh?" Scyeth had very little experience tinkering with anything, actually, but he could probably incorporate that. The only thing the youth had ever done with tools was mess with his skateboard, and that mostly consisted of replacing the wheels or the occasional customization. Oh well. How hard could it be, the blond wondered to himself, making a few trips back and forth while Canaan drifted to Weiyuan's side.

Fine. Whatever. He was capable! He could start this himself. Scyeth looked at his pile of materials before returning to the box. Ah, there we go. Tape measure. Scyeth returned to his stash and measure out the pipes, planning to make himself a frame out of them. At least it only took some twisting and a few simple tools to attach these things. But how was he going to attach the wood?

"...hey Cane, when you have a second, can I run something by you?"

Wei had neatly arranged the pieces he needed modifications for, each with their own pencil marks of what should be cut and where. "I need the smaller pieces thinner, I marked length I need cut off. This long piece needs to be trenched a bit, large enough where this," he held up a thin wooden cylinder the size of his pinky up, "can fit inside, it shouldn't be too wide but not thin enough that it would be a snug fit."

Straightforward and to the point. That's how Wei was in these sorts of situations. And with the field trip coming up he had a feeling that he should get back into those habits. Trips outside of the school...just never turned out the way he hoped they would. Still, he could always properly socialize with them later. They were on opposing teams on whatever game that was were they not? He scooted closer the male, leaning in to whisper into his ear. "Also, if would be nice for you to sharper the ends of a few of these. I'd like to give Scyeth a good scare, a little payback..." He pulled away, innocently scooting some of the ammo towards the darker male.
