Josh was feeling the best he felt in a long time. In fact, he couldn’t remember ever feeling so good about something in his life. This only meant one thing- soon he would be faced with a shitstorm and probably fall harder than he ever had before. His arms itched with the inward feeling of impending doom. But as he walked home, the warm slip of paper which he was sure had a spell on it in his pocket, he still felt happy.
And he deserved to- didn’t he deserve his moment of happiness? It may not last long, and end up hurting him worse than he started out, but that didn’t matter now. He was pretty sure he loved Godfrey. He could tell because his heart hurt, being away. Being unsure of the future, and if this was just another awkward moment between them. It felt different though, it really felt like love.
Godfrey and Josh. They were boyfriends, now, right? Would they hold hands at school and get jealous stares, maybe? Josh had gone out with someone in his class before, but it didn't last more than a week and he felt like neither of them were into it ********." His breath was coming out as fog it was so cold, but he was perfectly warm, like the cold air couldn't touch him. This better not just have been another awkward make-out session... "********." Josh closed his eyes, trying to repress such thoughts. But now he had thought them, and they wouldn't rewind.
Twenty minutes later he made it home, a small Muggle house on the corner, the white paint chipping, one of the windowsills slightly crooked. When he walked in the door he didn't bother saying hello; both his parents were out, as usual, either partying or just simply getting away from this house, getting away from Josh. Fine with him. He didn't need their s**t added on top of the current emotional drama that was his life. In fact, he was content with going to his room, locking the door and possibly jacking off until he got bored enough to study. Sounded like a plan.
However, after going upstairs and entering his room, locking the door behind him, his eyes wandered to his old guitar. Not magic, just a plain old acoustic guitar, the stings probably long out of tune. He sat on the carpet, pulling the guitar into his lap, strumming it to get a feel. It took him about five minutes until the strings were adjusted to his liking, but he couldn't help but smile again. Playing music was his main escape, and before Hogwarts his only escape.
He started strumming a tune, nothing special, nameless notes, a song that sounded like a million others. But it made him feel better, and he kept playing, making lyrics to match the tune, a quiet voice in an empty room.
"the farther I fall, I'm besides you... as lost as I get I will find you..."
Everything might just be okay. Josh set the guitar back to lean against the wall, crawled up into bed and began to work on some schoolwork he'd been putting off.
-----
Josh was pleased to find the weather outside was much warmer and less windy. He tried to dress up without making it too obvious that he had- a newer pair of jeans, a nicer shirt, and most importantly, an extra spikey mohawk using his Magic "Stay-All-Day" gel. He escaped the house without notice, walking at a brisk pace towards the park.
It was early yet, not even ten o'clock, but they hadn't decided a meeting time, so he figured better be early than late. He could sit at the park and enjoy the nice weather until Godfrey showed up.
Josh could see a bunch of little kids playing as soon as he got close to the park, hear their cries of joy. They were enjoying the nice weather as well, apparently. He looked around, making his way towards the shade of the trees, trying to see if Godfrey was already there or not.

Godfrey jumped at Josh from behind, wrapping his arms around his shoulders.
"Hey! I've only been waiting for about five minutes, great timing!" Godfrey's voice sounded happy, extra happy. And he too was dressed nice today. He let go of Josh and took a step back, so he could turn around.
Last night, Godfrey had gone home and, there was no other way to describe it, jumped into his bed with all his covers and giggled like a girl for hours.
Unlike Josh, he just felt happy, and unable to sleep, and was looking forward to the next day. He'd even gotten up and chosen his clothes about a dozen times, before deciding on a pair of black skinny leg jeans, a white belt, a new pair of shoes he'd had for a while but didn't wear, and a snazzy yellow shirt. He wasn't wearing any jewelry or anything besides his simple black watch, not being one for bracelets and necklaces and things.
Still clinging to Josh's, Godfrey suddenly felt shy, which was unusual for him. He let go and took a step back, resisting the urge to put his hands in his pockets and wondering if Josh would think he looked nice.
From what Godfrey could see, Josh certainly did. And he wondered if Josh had been up all night as well.

"Oi...!" Josh almost stumbled and fell over, but managed to keep his feet, grinning, twisting his head to try and get a look at Godfrey. "Godfrey!"
Josh felt like he had that magic slip of paper in his pocket again- warm from the inside out. "I'm glad I didn't sleep in, I didn't want to come too early though or err..." Turns around, his train of thought cut-off. "Uhh..."
Blinks a few times in rapid succession, trying to arrange his thoughts into a coherent sentence instead of stumbling over his words and sounding idiotic. "Wow... you look really nice." Smiles really big, stepping closer to Godfrey and taking hold of his hand, determined to get close right away instead of tip-toeing around. He gripped Godfrey's hand tightly, standing just inches away.
"So... where do you suppose we should go..." jerks his thumb back, gesturing all the children with their parents, playing and laughing and screaming the way kids will, "to get away from this lot?"

Godfrey noticed right away that Josh was all dressed up too. For him? It wasn't such a surprising thing, considering the circumstances, but he was still left surprised. Josh... looked good. Very good. Good enough that, when Josh suggested they leave, albeit in an offhand way, he had a few ideas of exactly where they could go. But he shook them out, because that was his hormones butting in.
"I.. um..." Godfrey looked down at their hands, his face surprisingly red. Josh's hand felt nice around his, big and warm and... his brain gushed a billion other things which were all very sappy and adorable. "We could just.. windowshop? I..... it'd be nice to just walk around."
He was going to suggest for a second that maybe they go to Thorpe Park, or try to sneak into a club, or something else. But for one, he kind of felt like doing something where they could sort of ignore all the other people. And two, all those things cost money, and he didn't want to make Josh feel uncomfortable. He knew they could have plenty of fun without having to spend a dime.
"We could make fun of tourists." He grinned a little at that suggestion. "And, they're not too bad. Definitely cute!"
He was referring to all the kids playing on the playground, and kept a good hold on Josh's hand as he peeked around him at them all. "I can't wait until B-Roddy's that big."
He grinned widely. "And you probably spend a lot of time walking around here, you lead the way!"

Josh was sort of surprised that Godfrey was acting so... shy. He'd never seen him act like this, really. Awkward and shy were two completely different things, thankfully. he would much rather have shy. Besides, Godfrey was cute already and him acting shy only added to it. Josh grinned slyly, planting a wet kiss on Godfrey's cheek.
"We could make fun of tourists while windowshopping. That definitely sounds fun. There's this really high class place, you see all sorts of way-too-dressed-up tourists and people there, with like, whole flocks of minks as scarfs, and highheels so tall they can hardly walk, haha... plus it's the best place to windowshop."
Casts a backwards glance at the kids on the playground, having a good time, except one who seemed to be crying about sliding right off the slide. "Urr, yeah, I guess they're cute... they're at least small." Josh couldn't remember much about being small, but he liked kids, really, he just never knew what to do around them, never having any siblings of his own, or even distant family, for that matter.
Shakes his head, grabbing Godfrey's hand tighter again, excited. "Come on then, it's this way... I saw this pair of awesome shoes there once, they were 500$ or something retarded..." Starts leading Godfrey down the sidewalk away from the park, the older buildings leading way to restaurants, then newer, and obviously higher-end stores. It was really busy, as usual- children weren't the only ones enjoying the nicer weather. As they walked together, Josh wasn't really watching where he was going so much as he was looking at Godfrey, and he was purposefully making it obvious. "So then, didn't get in trouble last night, I expect?"

Godfrey couldn't blush anymore, but grinned as Josh kissed his cheek.
"Five hundred dollars for a pair of shoes? That's stupid! I'd never spend that much on any sort of clothes......"
First and foremost, Godfrey couldn't help but notice that Josh kept watching him, instead of where they were going. He had no doubt Josh could traverse the streets without having to, but he couldn't do it as easily. Godfrey tried to look forward to make sure they didn't run into people, but he kept looking at Josh as well and tripping over his feet.
He had a goofy grin on his face the whole time.
"I..." He was brought back from the clouds as Josh asked if he'd gotten in trouble. He hadn't been grounded, but his Dad hadn't liked him coming home when it was a little dark out, nevermind it wasn't even supper time! Then again, he couldn't let himself get all angry and riled up any time Harry ever said anything to him, and while Harry had been worried, he hadn't been annoyingly overbearing. "No, not really. He just told me to remember to come home before dark."
He shrugged his shoulders a little, and walked closer to Josh, so their arms bumped against each other. He started to look around and noticed they were on a street he'd never been on before. There were lots of fancy things, shoes, purses, outfits, jewelry. If Godfrey had a Mom he might have been here before, but neither Harry or Gilderoy had ever worn dresses or women's clothes so far as he'd seen.
When they started to pass by a shop that had tiny clothes in the window, Godfrey gave Josh's arm a tug and slowed a little, before stopping.
".............. why are there tiny jeans and a tank top on a dog mannequin?" He asked, looking up at Josh with a raised eyebrow. He didn't quite get the fact at the moment that the place sold clothes. For dogs. That likely cost more than $500 for some.
He spotted what he thought were people clothes in the store as well, but quickly came to realize they were for larger dogs. The size of them made an image flash in his head, and he snorted quite suddenly. He wondered if they made pants for gigantic lizards?

"Hm...?" Josh stopped, looking in the shop window along with Godfrey. "Dogs? Oh, oh, yeah. That whole store is for dogs. There's like, dog treats made of veal... and everything, it's pretty ridiculous. Diamond studded collars and the like. Honestly, from my experience dogs don't really care what they're eating, as long as they're eating it." Laughs, pointing at a frilly pink dog tutu. "Poor rich-people dogs, haha! I remember I had a dog, well, sorta, a stray one when I was little... it would always not look where it was runnin' and smash against stuff... heh."
"Do you have pets or anything? Not like I've ever really...well, 'course I've never been to your house... urr..." Blinks a few times in rapid succession, scratching at his nose.
Glances around the street, suddenly gripping Godfrey's hand tightly. "Ah! Ah, look over there, come on!" He tugged Godfrey away from the tacky dog shop to the shop on the opposite side, with lots of guitars sitting in the window- some were old and refurbished while others were brand-new and all sorts of weird shapes and colors.
"Wow..." Has his face literally pressed against the glass, pointing at a a pale yellow guitar. "5,000 pounds, yeah right... it's a Vintage so I guess..." Backs away from the glass grinning. "Anyways..." Sighs a bit, but it's more of a happy sigh then anything, pressing himself closer to Godfrey. "Well, is there anything in particular you'd like to...shop for? I know most everything these shops have, so we could just..."

Godfrey caught sight of most of the weird things Josh mentioned, his eyes resting momentarily on a big, pink collar, which made him grin. He then giggled at the thought of Josh's odd stray.
"I've never had a dog. I have goats. Or one goat. Bernard. His ladies are his."
Godfrey perked up suddenly when Josh said he'd never been over to his house, about to say something, but before he could he was grabbed and dragged across the street with Josh, as the other boy moved almost as a magnet towards the guitar store.
He giggled a little, watching Josh press his face up against the glass, and peered into the window at all the shiny, odd shaped instruments.
"Wow." Godfrey intoned along with Josh. That yellow guitar. It sure was yellow and shiny, and he felt lured by it as well. He knew instantly Josh would look really good playing that, and even better playing something for him. 5000 pounds was his entire allowance for the month, however, which was a lot even to him, though he usually deposited his money in the bank and saved it.
Still, he was tempted to drag Josh inside and buy it for him. But, no. Josh wouldn't like that, he thought. Plus, he wanted to have a fun day without them buying anything.
"No, I don't want to shop, just to look. All of the stuff on this street looks too expensive for my tastes anyways." He said, shaking his head and leaning against Josh's shoulder as he surveyed the rest of the street. "That guitar was sweet though. I don't even play the guitar and they had me almost drooling."
He grinned, looking up at Josh. "Let's just keep looking at stuff and laugh at how ridiculous people are for buying them!"
He stood up straight again, taking a step forward so his and Josh's clasped hands were behind his back. "Oh!" He looked back over at his shoulder at Josh. "Would you... would you like to come to my house for a bit, later? We could have lunch there, around one or two, or whenever we're hungry."
He turned around to face Josh again, biting his lip a little. "I could show you Bernard, if he's there. And maybe you'd like to see.... well... I've got a treehouse, we could eat up there. It's a bit much though. And we'll have to say hi to Dad and Xeno and everyone. My front yard's pretty cool though, it's got a lot of colours. But anyways.... I don't know, we could go to a clothes shop and try lots of stuff on, and then not buy any of it?"

Josh wriggled his nose, thinking. "Goats are an odd sort of pet... I always loved their eyes though, all slitted horizontally like that. And their little goat beards. I love out-of-the-ordinary pets though! I always wanted to have a pet alligator, and a moat around my house to put it in, hehe. With a drawbridge. No, no. That's a bit too much, heh."
Josh stared at all the guitars for a moment, shaking his head. "Those guitars are awesome and all, but really, the music sounds the same no matter how expensive. It's about the musician, you know, not the... the price of his instrument." Scratches at his chin, turning his gaze away from the window. "I bet if anyone was to buy that guitar they wouldn't even know how to play. They'd just put it on their wall or somethin'."
Watches Godfrey for a few seconds, just enjoying being close, doing his best to listen. "Oh man, I would love to come to your house. Well, as long as it's no bother to your... your Dad and such. I mean, we can plan to do it another time so I'm not a bother." Smiles softly, squeezing Godfrey's hand as they stood there in the middle of the sidewalk. People streamed by, unnoticed.
"And urh, to be honest... I'm kinda hungry right now." Laughs, thinking of how there was nothing in his house that could be considered edible, let alone breakfast.

".... a moat?" Godfrey grinned slowly, one side of his mouth turning up. He grinned further, shaking his head. "That'd be fun."
Godfrey looked back at the guitar again. A cool thing like that, sitting up on a wall? All unloved and... and unplayed? It seemed really sad to him, and very devious and naughty thoughts started to enter his head, but he tucked them away to mull over more later, because Josh was hungry, and he wanted to come over to his house!!!!
"What? Bother? No!" Godfrey grinned really wide then, grabbing Josh's hands and bouncing up and down on his heels. "No, let's go! I only ate some toast anyways."
He abruptly started to drag Josh enthusiastically down the sidewalk, and this went on for about a half a minute before he suddenly stopped.
"Oh....... oh! We'll have to......." Godfrey turned to look at Josh. "You've taken the Knight Bus before, right? Because I can get home just fine by myself. But I can't take someone with. It probably wouldn't be too long of a ride in the bus, and there's no floos around here, I'm pretty sure."
He nodded, thinking about all the floo points that he knew of in the city. (Mostly in case of emergencies.) Was there one nearby? It was really hard to think, with holding Josh's hand and how nice he smelled and all the excitement and Josh would meet his DAD.... he shook his head to clear it a little, but it didn't help much with the grinning and the enthusiastic fidgeting.

"Oh, yeah actually, I've taken the Knight Bus loadsa times. I wander about a lot at urr... night, I guess you could say." Smiles softly, trying not to think about it too much. "And yeah, there's not any sorta Floo around here, too busy of an area to risk some Muggle stumbling upon, I think."
Glances back and forth, "Urr, so how do you call the Bus anyways? It's always just came when I needed it so... and well, it's always been night. They can't just pick us up in broad daylight, right?"

"Oh, okay! And of course it can pick us up in the daylight, silly." Godfrey grinned at Josh, punching him lightly in the shoulder, and then turned his head behind himself, feeling in his pockets and things for his wand.
"Now... where did I put...ah hah!" Godfrey bent over and pulled his wand out of his sock, under his jeans, holding it out.
"It's disguised from muggles, because not everyone can appa-" Godfrey paused as a loud BANG! signaled the arrival of the bus down the street, said vehicle swerving carelessly at pedestrians, other vehicles, and even buildings, but all moved out of the way, the people seeming to not even notice it.
"Not everyone can apparate or floo, of course. Ah, two tickets please, and no, we don't want any tea, hot chocolate, tooth brushes, blankets, papers, or anything." Godfrey grinned at the man who came out to greet them onto the bus, not even letting him give his usual speech, and reached into his pocket, swiftly pulling out the correct number of sickles, putting them in his hand, and told him what the address was.
"Come on! I hate not being seated before they take off, and they always try to get you." Godfrey grabbed Josh's hand, surprisingly pulling him rather forcefully after himself and onto the bus. The bus doors closed the instant they were on, and a muffled swear could be heard as the bus shot off into movement once more, paying no mind to anything in its way.

"Oh..." Josh trailed off, chuckling as Godfrey searched for his wand. Of course he kept it in his sock, of all places. Josh just kept his in his pocket, but admittedly it did fall out now and again. But chances are if he was doing something that would cause his wand to fall out of his pocket, his sock wouldn't be much better.
Josh flinched instinctively as the Knight Bus appeared, letting Godfrey drag him onto the bus and into the nearest seat. He kept his hand locked in Godfrey's, pushed back into the seat as the bus zoomed off at its normal pace. "To Godfrey's!" he announced triumphantly, as if anyone on the bus cared where there were going.
