To banish unwanted persons Azkadeliah read from her latest magic book. This was exactly what she needed. She turned the page and grumbled. Cannot be used on family members, most especially siblings. Azkadeliah, do not banish your brother. Her mother had gotten ahold of the book first. One day Azkadeliah would get her hands on a brand new magic book, and then Riggs would be sorry. She kept reading, enjoying the time to herself in her little corner.

After a rude and abrupt exorcism from his usual domain, Jazz found himself wondering the woods, taking solace in the darkness and silence of the place. It was a pleasant change from his home where Selena contented herself to harassing him whenever possible. Of course he was aware she only behaved in such a way towards him because she missed Serena. Ever since Serena's lifemate had begun to behave properly Lena had been left without her partner in crime and the effects were felt by the rest of the family. Needless to say it was impossible to compose when an agitated female sat by deliberately bending pitches out of tune and snickering at the horrid noises produced.

"Maybe I could turn him into a toad . . . on purpose this time." Azkadeliah muttered to herself, flipping through the pages. She stopped for a second as she saw a passage, "True Love Spell? Pft. Like that would ever work."

As he walked along the path Jazz softly sang his latest composure hoping it would help to lighten his spirit. He'd grown up hearing the stories of what happened to the males of his species as they aged, how they'd lose their ability to see color and feel emotions...he just never throught it would happen to him. But here he was a mature male Carpathian all but completely abandoned by the beautiful colors that once surrounded him and the emotions, that passion that once inspired his music. It is little wonder I have been unable to compose, he thought to himself. Without passion, emotion...my muse and my music are lost to me...

"Summon fireworks? Why would you need to do that?" Azkadeliah asked herself. Then she thought she might as well try it. What could it hurt? A little fireworks. Maybe scare the living daylights out of Riggs once she perfected it . . . "Right," she muttered before she started chanting the spell.

"There are at least some things to be grateful for," Jazz said quietly. "Two sisters with their lifemates, happy...if one could forget they are only two of five if would be quite pleasant..."

The fireworks shot up and out, but far too close for comfort. "Oh! Not good! Not good! Not good!" The nearby trees suddenly burst into flames. "Oh! Water! Help!" Azkadeliah screamed as she flipped through the spell book for another spell to put out the fire.

The smoke reached Jazz's senses on the wind, "Fire? But how...must be that lunatic dragon again..." He said shifting forms to fly through the skies and reach the flames before too much damage could be done.

"What? How is there no water spell?" Azkadeliah asked the book. "Oh, right." Mom was allergic to water. No wonder there was no water spell. "Help!!" Azkadeliah screamed again.

Not the dragon... Jazz had time to think before the world exploded around him. Every brilliant color that had only seconds before been pale ghosts of their original forms returned with a vengeance and assaulted his senses. "What on earth..." he gasped realizing he'd lost the shape and quickly opened his wings to catch the air. But he'd have to figure out the source of the colors later. The cry had come from the area of the fire and it was in his sights now. He focused on the fire, always an area of interest in a talent through many generations of his family, and pulls all the oxygen from it. Without the air, the fire would suffocate and die.

The flames went down. Azkadeliah blinked. "What?" She didn't feel like she'd done anything. Catching her breath, Azkadeliah vowed to add a water spell to her book.

The flames were gone as was the immediate danger but still there was the scream which drawn him to the spot. It did not take him long to discover the source, she almost seemed to glow in the darkness of the night. A vivid green coat wrapped in a black cape - both alluring and mysterious was the woman. He couldn't take his eyes from her. More than that he felt a sharp and sudden urge to carry her away to some dark secluded spot and... He stopped his thoughts right there, what was wrong with him? She'd just been through and ordeal with the fire and certain didn't need...whatever it was he wanted to do. Still, he had to be certain of her well being - that was quite normal and acceptable, wasn't it? Of course it was.
He landed a few feet away from her, "Mademoiselle?"

"Ahh!!" Azkadeliah jumped back. She felt her powers rise up and do . . . something, but she wasn't sure of anything. Someone had just landed right in front of her. And he was powerful and strong. She ran, still not knowing exactly what her powers had done.

"Wait!" Jazz called already moving at supernatural speeds to cut her off. "I just wanted to make sure you were alright."

Azkadeliah skidded to a stop, too quickly, and tripped. Her mind was racing and the world was spinning. She tried to calm down, but it was no good. What she could really use was a drink of water.
Thunder shook the ground as a downpour began. Great. Now her powers decided to do something useful.
"Oh," Azkadeliah muttered. "That's not what I wanted!"
