Aqila frowned and sniffed the air again. She should be getting closer...Ah! There! So many cheetah scents on the wind...it could only be the place she was looking for! With a smirk on her maw, she trotted towards the scent she picked up, excitement in her bones. Finally...a place free from lions and leopards, a place JUST for cheetahs. It was perfect, absolutely PERFECT.
She just had to find out how to integrate herself in. Perhaps they had use for a scholar. Aqila knew she wasn't the most...personable cheetah. But her mind was sharp and her knowledge great. After all, she had to absorb knowledge easily or she never would have stood a chance against her cousin!

Zikomo stood along the Duma'Chama borders, head high and eyes and ears alert to any changes in his surroundings. He took his job very seriously and eagerly waited for any changes he might report to those above him in rank. Although the male didn't want to have to fearfully return to the center of the group with bad news, he did silently hope that something might happen. Something that might make his job seem more eventful.
Adjusting his position to stretch his stiff muscles, the cheetah caught site of a white blur approaching. Standing at attention, the male began to pad outside the group to get a better look at just what was coming towards him at such a quick speed. Aqila was still a few feet ahead when Zikomo determined she was a foreign cheetah. She wore no marks of the Duma'Chama, but seemed to know where she was headed. Puffing out his chest and speaking boldly, the male called out, "Greetings! Welcome to Duma'Chama!"

The white cheetah stopped a few feet from the other cheetah, a brow raised. "Duma'chama...that's what this place is called? Is it the cheetah coalition I've been hearing rumors about, the one where only cheetahs are welcome?" She hoped so. It would mean her search was over, and she could settle a bit...She'd have to wander out every once in a while, after all, to get new information and to give that blasted leopard a piece of her mind. She'd been in too much of a hurry to do so last time.
"I am Aqila. And I've traveled a great distance, hoping to find the coalition."

Aqila's look of surprise when he mentioned the coalition caught the male off guard. He had been warned to be careful when speaking with strangers for fear of giving away private information to those that might do wrong with it. Zikomo felt as though he may had been over excited about the site of the cheetah and assumed she must have been coming for their lands. Before he had a chance to correct himself, she asked the question many wandering cheetahs did. Zikomo had been right!
With a grin he made a gesture towards the ring of orange and golden flowers that seemed to lead into their land. "Yes, you have found your way to the cheetah coalition. Let us welcome you into the lands so that you may rest your weary feet. I understand that we are a great distance from many other populated areas. Are you hungry at all?" In addition to his position of guard, Zikomo was asked to welcome new comers once they arrived.

Aqila held herself back from sighing in relief. But her expression softened a bit as a slight smile crossed her maw. "Good...I'd been half-afraid I'd gotten the wrong place." She chuckled. "I am rather hungry...and curious. I'd only heard that this was a haven for cheetahs. But I do not know anything beyond that." She wanted to know what sort of place she could hold. "Does this place have use for a cheetah knowledgeable in many things, and the world north of here?"

Zikomo brought himself to Aqila's side so that he may walk with her opposed to in front of her. The male cheetah tried his very best to be polite and respectful towards everyone. "We have many groups of hunters at Duma'Chama and always hunt for more than ourselves. We have multiple dens that are very cold and preserve the meat for longer than the open air. We can find you something to eat there."
As they walked, nearing the coalition, he had a strange feeling he had seen her before. Or she must have reminded him of someone he knew. He couldn't quite place his paw on it. Entering the ring of flowers and now the richer population of cheetahs, Zikomo dipped his head to many friends and continued on towards the den he spoke of. "The coalition has a use for any task you could perform. I know Aailyah would love someone to record important information and teach the young ones. She would be the best to speak off on that matter."

"Now that is a bright idea. It certainly makes sure there's something when a hunt doesn't go so well." And with her species...that happened far too often, it seemed. And she didn't mind cold meat, so long as her belly was filled.
Aaliyah...a familiar name. Made her wonder...but it wasn't likely her cousin was here. Aqila did hope a little...but she'd learned long ago that getting one's hopes up ended only in tragedy. "Then once I've eaten, I would very much like to speak with her." It would be nice to have a place where she'd be able to record information on more than just stones for random passers-by, or in her mind.

Other than the curious ring of orange-colored flowers, the land seemed relatively uninhabited at first. As the pair pressed further into the cheetah-scented territory, making their way between trees and over rocks, the presence of others of their kind became known. Making sure Aqila was at his side, the male explained, "Although Aailyah likes for cheetahs to recognise the flowers, she also understands that a protected territory should not be so open." Beyond a couple larger rocks, Zikomo stood in their main clearing, den's straight ahead, hunting ground to the left and stream running through diagonally.
"Follow this way and we'll make sure you're well fed." Zikomo approached the storage den he referred to earlier. The scent of meat filled his nostrils and he grinned, "Looks like it's your lucky day. Someone must have just come back from a hunt."
"Oh! Zikomo!" A gentle voice called out from inside the den. Taking a moment to finish what she was doing, a white colored cheetah finally peered out from inside, a small missed stain of blood on her muzzle. "I just got back from a hunt with some of the others." Spotting someone alongside him, Aailyah smiled more broadly than before and then lowered her head respectfully. "Welcome sister," she said, her voice warm and welcoming. "Surely you must be hungry from your travels?" Aailyah didn't wait for a response as she rushed back into the den and tore a fresh slab of zebra from the haunches of their freshest kill. Returning to Aqila and Zikomo, the angel-winged cheetah set it down on the rocks at the entrance and made a gesture to show Aqila she could eat. "You are in good company. I am sure Zikomo has told you much, but if you need anything, please do not hesitate to ask me."

Aqila marveled at the lands. The founder of this place was a very smart, and aesthetically minded. The scent of meat made her stomach try to growl, but she held steady. And then the cheetah came out of the den, and she couldn't help but stare as she ducked back in and came out with a slab of zebra. She knew only one cheetah of that appearance.
"A-Aaliyah?" Was this cheetah really her cousin? The one she'd pitted smarts against visions with?
