A soft whimper broke the soft stillness of the baren woods. The forest was dull lifeless brown with patches of white snow piled here and there; the snow had started melting a few days earlier and all that was left of it now were these white patches. From the slow departure of winter came the bright orange orb that signaled spring's arrival. Yet putting aside the sun's radiance, the air was still very chilly due to the absence of the cloud cover that had at least provided a bit of warmth. A bitter wind blew threw the place where she stood quivering, nearly half of her body stuck in the thorn bush.
Astraea had been out roaming the world for something...though that certain something could not be comprehended by anybody, not even she was sure what she was exactly looking for. Her parents? No, that would be...silly. Friends? Spring? Maybe that. Yet under the present circumstances, she was rendered to do nothing. She had been making her way through the underbush and as her mind had drifted off to the semi-conscious world, a deep pain had stabbed at her and she had blinked to realize that she was fully and completely stuck in the thorn bush. After several unsuccessful attempts of freeing herself but only letting the thorns bite deeper into her calf, blood had started to leak out of the punctured wounds.
She looked around cautiously, another whimper forming on her lips. This was bad, very very bad. What would happen to her? Would a bear or a wolf came upon her and eat her? Would she be stuck her until she bleed to death? These thoughts combined with the smell of her own blood in the air had reduced her to hysterics. She bit her lip, trying to stop her own shaking since it drove the thorns deeper into the wounds as she looked around, heart pounding, for potential predators that might pop out any second.

Alex had been walking calmly through the pine scented forest, the fresh drifting of winter air was soothing to ones nostrils. It was quiet, the only sound a tiny songbird far off floating within the sky, the melodies reached even ears that were on ground; that always fascinated him.
Stepping over a few rough splintered logs, the small colt has to tug gently several times to free his silky feat feathering from the splintered bits of wood. What had been through here? The whole forest was somehow scared, poor tree blood leaked helplessly from their shells.
Freeing the silk, he continued along the partial snow covered terrain. Thats when a piercing shriek filled the once peaceful note. It was too peaceful, he knew it wouldn't last somehow. It caused two ears to perk, searching quietly for the owner; the voice was too soft toned to be a male, and with the scratched placed evidently on every tree caused the colt to worry greatly.
Flexing four developing muscles, he darted through the terrain being covered in the essence of glittering snow, slipping under low tree branches, and around tree's until finally halting at a covered area. He was sure it was here!
"Where are you?" He asked, eyes searching intently around the surroundings in attempt to fin the troubled filly/mare.

Astraea jumped at the sudden voice and then immediately winced for the jump and caused the thorns to dig even deeper into her flesh. She could hear the pounding in her ears as she looked frantically about, ignoring the spasms of pain shooting up her trapped leg. No one was in sight. Her nerves crashed again as looked at the bleeding wound that the thorns were making. They had bit even deeper as she moved about and the pain was more intense than ever. Her vision started to become blurry as she tried to bite back her whimper of pain as she lifted her head up again, trying not to move her leg as she did so.
Who had been the one that had called? In her fright, she couldn't discern exactly what the voice that been saying, but it sounded helpful at least or else it was just her delusion. Perhaps it was just a hallucination or a...ghost? She was still shivering and she took several deep breaths to try and calm herself. It didn't work. After a few more moments pause, in a barely audible voice,"H..hello? Anyone there?"

Alex raised his had at the squeak that sounded, keeping both illuminous blues shielded by eye-lids to help the aired silence focus the voice to a more perceptive part of his hearing. Few minutes past but at last the colt was able to flick a knowing look aside to where the damsels voice came from.
"please hold on, i'll be there soon" He mentioned in a calm voice, wading through the thick crowding bushes, pushing aside and ripping the nettle vines with his teeth before skipping over the last log in trial. He followed the voice to a ruffling bush where a helpless brown filly was tangled, cut, scratched and bleeding badly.
"Ah, there you are" He gave a soft smile, making his way over he was careful to push a set of vines down and then pull some the opposite direction with his teeth, eying the filly for reactions to know whether he was hurting her or being more helpful. The situation was risky, but no one else was here to help her any better than he could.

Astraea waited patiently, though hoping whoever it was would arrive soon. Though she had not heard what they said quite clearly, she was quite sure they had an air of helpfulness, which relieved her. She glared at the thorn bush that chained her down. How could she have gotten into such a mess? She didn't look much different from a goat and goats ate anything, including thorn bushes!
She sniffed when she saw the foal arrive. They were friendly, and she was glad that it was another foal and not some adult that might chastise her for not looking where she was going. She winced a little as he moved the vines out of the way, but ignoring the pain she slowly removed her leg and escape from the thorn's clutches. Shaking herself off a bit she dipped her head lightly. "Thank you for helping..." She said shyly.
