A fresh spring breeze brushed through strands of Emris’s hair as he made his way towards the familiar bridge of his home. Satchels bounced against each other filled with things for the home as he started to walk faster towards the small bridge. Sunlight was just beginning to spread over the forest and the birds were stirring with chirps as babies declared their hunger to sleepy parents. Softly smiling Emris watched as a careful doe with her fawns crossed over to the other side of the trail as he approached. He chuckled and nodded before walking onto the bridge and stepping onto the soft ground of his home.
It felt like forever since Emris had seen his home, yet he had only been gone to market for less than just two days instead of all the years that it felt like. The foxtaur’s heart leaped happily as he stepped near the porch with it’s ivy covered rails that spiraled and were finally beginning to bloom again with their light purple and blue flowers. But something even more desired was waiting behind the front door and that was his mate, Terrie.
Just thinking of her and what had recently happened to them in winter made Emris smile brightly, because he wasn’t just Terrie's mate anymore he was a father too. As soon as Emris stepped onto his porch a small shadow tackled into him. Knocking into his father, Leif reached his small arms around his father's arm in delight. “Father!” A small shrill sound of joy startled Emris as his oldest son hugged him.“Leif?” Asked Emris in surprise as he returned the hug. “How did you sneak out so early without anyone else knowing?” He chuckled and held the child close as he took in the familiar warmth of his son. Ah yes, he definitely hated leaving them behind for any amount of time.“I’m jus’ did!” Laughed Leif before pulling back to look at his father with wide eyes, “What’d ya bring?” He asked trying to get into one of the packages peeping out of one of Emris‘s traveler satchels.“You’ll have to wait til I see everyone else now.” Chuckled Emris getting back up on his paws. He winked though and patted the second satchel hanging from his shoulder and Leif immediately brightened up as he followed his father into their home. “I’m back!” He called out softly wondering who else in his family was up this early.

Terrie sat at the table, food all over her shirt. She was wiping off herself and the little brunette in front of her. "Mersi, I swear. One day I will make sure everything on your plate gets into your mouth and down that throat of yours." Perking her ears, she smiled and quickly tried to wipe off excess food. "Daddy's home!" She said with a big smile, scooping the wriggling girl into her arms and heading into the front room. Mersi had suddenly decided that her bowl could be turned into a hat, after first taking the food out by throwing it at mommy. She sqealed in protest as her new hat was taken from her, but otherwise giggled at the ticklish towel. Hearing her brother and mommy confirm it, she reached her hands up and squealed in delight. "Daddy-daddy-daddy-daddy!" And she didn't stop until Terrie had carried her into the front room, where seeing Emris made her squeal even more and reach her arms out to him.

"Mersi! Terrie!" Laughing Emris took Mersi into his arms and hugged her, "You seem messy today." He commented looking up to Terrie with a small grin. Feeling a tug on his tail, the foxtaur blinked down at Leif who was scowling openly with impatience.
"Okay, okay." Chuckled Emris making his son smile in delight as he held onto Mersi and started to wiggle the second satchel from his shoulder. Soon it fell and the wrapped contents scattered to the ground. "I brought gifts for everyone as well." Explained Emris with a smile to Terrie as he let go of Mersi so he could rummage through the spilled items.
"Me first!" Exclaimed Leif as he scooted towards the packages. His small hands grabbed randomly at the items and he pulled at one of them trying to tear it open.
Laughing his father helped him and inside were a couple wooden toys of various designs. One was a fake sword though which Leif immediately hugged to his chest because it reminded him of the shiny thing that 'Uncle Xe-Xe' always had. "Mine!" He exclaimed after Emris patted his head and started to look through another package.
Letting the rest of his load drop to the floor, Emris held up a bigger package for Terrie's inspection. "I bought a bunch of seeds and other things for the garden." He mused happily watching as Leif clumsily tried to raise the sword up. One satchel he kept around his shoulder though that jingled lightly, that one held gifts as well.

Terrie laughed and kissed Emris' lips lightly. "She decided that food belongs on me and bowls belong on her head." She shook her head, tail flicking happily. "That'll be nice. I can't wait to start it." She took her box and smirked at Emris. "You didn't have to get me anything."
Mersi giggled and nodded. "Mommy took my hat!" She yipped happily, laughing at what just moments ago had made her pout. She looked around with wide eyes at the packages, looking yearningly at Leif's sword. "Mine?" She asked hopefully, picking up a random box and looking up at her father, picking at the wrapping slowly.

Tokala's ears perked from where he slept; he was a late riser even with all the noise going on. Yawning, he stretched his paws out in front of him and arched his back ears flicking to pick up the voices. He blinked and stood and trotted out recognizing one of the voices he hadn't heard in a couple days. He gave a happy grin as he saw his parent. He gave a sort of happy squeal and went to pounce, "Daddy Daddy Daddy!!!"

Emris looked at Terrie before lightly returning the kiss, "Of course I did. I just hope you like wearing some jewelery and that you like ribbon." He replied running his hand lovingly through her silky hair before looking back between Mersi and Terrie. "So Mommy took Mersi's hat?" He asked playfully with a small gasp. Winking at Terrie he watched as Leif started to try hitting the floor with his new 'weapon' before he looked back over to Mersi.
Emris nodded at Mersi and started helping her to unwrap her gift containing a toy that he hoped she would like as well. But before he could do anything else Emris found himself pounced, "Tokala!" He exclaimed happily squishing his second son in a warm hug.
Finally maneuvering his wooden sword, Leif blinked at the blur that pounced his father. A wide grin crossed his features as he clumsily waved his sword about scattering more of the torn wrapping paper, "Toka! Lookie!"

Tokala grinned tail waving as he clung to his father happily. He gave a happy giggle as he snuggled up close. His ears perked hearing his name and glanced at Leif. He gaped lightly, "Me too!!"

Terrie flushed slightly. "Jewelry?" She'd always wanted something pretty... She smiled at Tokala while she unwrapped her gift. "Hey there sleepyhead." She giggled. She remebered clearly the day she had found out there were three kit babies inside her instead of the usual two. It was a miracle in her eyes that they were so lucky. She gasped as she pulled from the wrapping a rope of threaded dark brown leather. On it hung a round pendant with three large stones. Each stone colored to represent the three children. "It's beautiful. Thank you." She peeked into the box again, wondering what he had meant about ribbon.
Mersi nodded at Emris, laughing when she discovered the package she held was indeed for her. She carefully pulled at the wrapping. "Dolly!" She yelled happily, hugging the stuffed foxtaur doll to her chest. "I name her Honey!" She brushed the doll's blond string hair back from the cloth face, petting the fuzzy red tail. She looked proudly at her doll, raising her nose to her brother's silly sword.

Emris released Tokala in order to hand him a similar sword to Leif's except that his was painted white and green while Leif's was brown and green. Chuckling the foxtaur smiled at his daughter and wife's reaction to their gifts and his tail swayed happily as he stood and went to hug Terrie. "You're welcome." He replied softly before taking the necklace from Terrie to clasp it around her neck. Emris smiled widely, "I'm glad you liked it though."
Stealing the box back from Terrie, Emris shook it and allowed two of many long strands of colored ribbon to float out. "I thought you might find some use for these..." He gazed down at Mersi and back to Terrie with a sheepish look on his face, "Hair ties, decorations, and for other things."
"Hounie?" Repeated Leif with a curious gaze on the foxtaur doll. He hugged at his sword and shook his head from pride at his own toy, "Better for me." He blew a small raspberry towards Mersi before attempting to poke his brother with his wooden toy. "Gotcha!"
His eyes widened though as he thought about some of the stories that Uncle Xe-Xe had told him when he visited. If they both had these swords now....they could act things out and fight like Xe-Xe! He grinned wickedly and attempted to poke his brother again as if they were dueling. Later maybe he'd take Honey hostage as well to get his sister to play...that could work.

Terrie gently fingered the necklace once it was around her neck, nearly feeling overdressed. She'd have to get used to it. She tilted her head at the ribbons and smiled. "Mersi? Would you like some pretty ribbon in your hair?" She asked playfully, plucking a bright orange ribbon from Emri's hand.
Mersi stuck her tongue out at Leif before looking curiously up at Terrie. "Ribbon?" Ribbon came around presents... why did mommy want to put it in her hair? "Me a present!" She shrieked happily. Everyone liked presents, so that meant everyone would like her once she was wrapped in ribbons! "Honey too!" She grabbed at a blue ribbon that had been around the box her doll had come from and attempted to ties it around the doll's body, pouting when her fingers wouldn't get it right.

Tokala eyed his father eagerly as he was set down, tail waving side to side, ears perked. He gave a happy squeal at the sword and took it happily, stepping back to swing it around a bit, moving in a circle. His ears perked at the poke he received and looked around a bit confused as to who and what had done it, but then he spotted his brother.
At the second poke his ears went back as he attempted to make a silly guard before scooting back out of reach. "Leeeif ~" He whined. His tail flicked as he eyed his own sword before glancing at his brother and making a go to poke back.

Laughing softly Emris sat down beside of Mersi and taking the ribbon from her managed to tie a bow around the Honey's tail. "There...Honey too." He stated looking at Terrie with a warm smile before nudging Mersi towards her mother. "Now Mersi has to match Honey right?" He asked with a soft chuckle as he stole a peek towards the boys.
Laughing what he hoped to be evily, Leif waved his sword at his brother. "Tokaaa~" He copied before realizing that his brother was moving his sword towards him. "Oh!" Leif laughed as the poke tickled him before attempting to move back out of his brother's reach. The child ended up tripping over his tail though and fell to his side where he blinked dazed. "Oops..." He breathed before pushing himself back up and grabbing his sword. "Fight me, Toka?" Leif asked after he was back on his paws.

"Tank-oo daddy." Mersi clapped as Emris gave Honey a tie, then nodded contently. "Yep! Pretty ribbons!" She toddled over and sat herself in front of Terrie, hands continually petting her new doll. She closed her eyes from enjoyment as her hair was being brushed.
Terrie returned Emris' smile, giving his shoulder a gentle touch before sitting behind Mersi. She cocked her head slightly, wondering how to put the ribbon into the girl's hair. Flicking her tail, she reached into the box and pulled out two more of complimentary colors and braided the three into Mersi's soft hair. It was a short braid, but she thought she'd done well. "There. You look so pretty!" She cooed to the giggling child, tickling her sides.

Tokala giggled as his brother laughed. Tail waving a bit he blinked watching his brother go down and went over to look down at him head canted curiously. Murring, he smiled when he got back up though unsure if fighting was okay. "But.... fighting bad?"
His ears flicked as he glanced at his parents.

Emris found himself distracted when he glanced back over to see what Terrie and Mersi were actually doing. After seeing Mersi's hair Emris decided that it was a good thing that he had stumbled upon the colorful ribbons. Then tilting his head thoughtfully he looked at Terrie and chuckled, "Now that Mersi is pretty, should we make Mommy a pretty 'present' too?" He asked his daughter gently poking her in between her mother's tickling.
Pausing Leif held his sword at his side before blinking at Tokala. "Bad?" He repeated softly with his golden eyes wide. Could playing with these things in a 'fight' be bad? Really? Clutching at his sword the child thought hard about the question before following his brother's gaze towards their parents. "But playing not bad?" Leif finally asked looking back to his brother, "Not a real fight." He nodded bravely and held up his sword playfully swinging it towards the ground.
