Kaewyn was still pretty well reeling over the news. Aika had not only wandered away immediately upon hitting adulthood, but she'd also crossed baths with a LION and now she was EXPECTING. And he hadn't even met and approved of this lion yet!
Kaewyn was torn between emotionis. He was aghast with the SCANDAL of it. He was angry she had left home, when Mom had done so very much. He was inexcusably happy and hopeful for both Aika and their mother. Maybe - just perhaps this fellow that had swooped in was a worthy sort. Kaewyn had always tried very much to be that sort for his family, but he knew Aika dearly needed something more than a brother. He knew Mom was proud, but needed something to keep her spirits up. Kaewyn himself was thrilled, in a way. He'd always wanted, needed really, another male around.He'd never dared to say that before though. It just would have been ungrateful and hurtful to a motehr who'd loved so much.
He was afraid though that the male would completely take Aika away from them. what if he spirited her away forever? Or what if he left Aika? Either was possible.
Those were the fears that kept kaewyn awake now, though his mother slept beside him.
Kaewyn sighed, turned to nuzzle his mother, and whispered to her sleeping form. "Don't worry. I will never leave you. I will accept Aika's new family. I will keep peace. I will make you proud."
It was the best way he knew to both repay her and not get overly mush with words like, "I love you."
