It seemed life had livened up a bit in the place she called home. She could vaguely recall a childhood of mostly playing with her siblings, or on her own, and filled with the curiosity of what might lay in-land. But it appears that in-land had come to find her.
Tamu had woken lazily this morning. It was any wonder she'd woken at all really, and it was the sound of other lions starting the day that broke her sleep. She needed water, and so padded towards the forested mangrove, saying some pleasant greetings to those lions she happened to meet along the way.
Hitting the mangrove, she knew to walk just that bit further up the stream. Here, fresh and salt-water mingled and kicked up the silt to make a very unpleasant drink. Further up, it was still murky due to the plant life but not near so 'dusty' in the mouth.
Having found her perfect spot, she waded in a short way, flanked on both sides by the gnarled and stilt-like roots of the mangrove trees. Everything seemed rather serene.

Kwaruza had fallen in love with the pride within minutes of finding the place. She had adored Tamu the first time they had met and the pride was now home to her and her five children, all of which seemed to adore the place as much as she did.
She woke in a good mood, the sun seemed to be shining and well everything was beautiful as it always seemed to be in these lands. She got up and stretched a little, shaking her fur before she started her normal morning routine which normally meant a walk along the beach, a swim and then heading to get a drink.
Her routine seemed to be getting done quicker and quicker every day and well it depressed her a little and so she made a mental note to spend more time swimming tomorrow. The sea was beautiful and so nice to swim in, she might as well make the most of it.
She followed the streams that fed down to the sea up into the more grassylands. She had found that salt water really wasn't the nicest thing to drink and was glad she had learnt this rather quickly.
As she walked up she hadn't expected to see anyone but as it were it was a nice surprise to see Tamu.
"Hello there!" She called out, a smile on her maw as she walked up to the first lioness she had met here.

Lifting her head from the water, Tamu smiled as she saw Kwaruza. She had not known her nearly as long as say Sevati, but she was so pleasant to be around and someone she could call a friend rather than just a pridal colleague.
"Good morning Kwaruza," she said with a cheerful tone. "Hope this day finds you well. 'Tis a lovely day indeed."

Kwaruza smiled, she thought of Tamu as a good friend, someone to just hang about with away from children and other things that life generally brought to them.
"It is indeed a beautiful day." She smiled back at Tamu.
"How is the day fairing for you?" She asked softly before sitting herself down not far from the other lioness. She found that standing for too long was just too tiring for her, she liked to have a good old sit down!

"There's still some of the day left yet, but its good so far," she replied.
She bent her head down for another cool drink and then waded back out onto the bank, dripping with water. She could tell that Kwaruza had also been in the waters recently and guessed the big-water from the different smell.
"How are you finding things here?" she asked casually. She was always curious to know if lions were settling well, and warmed her heart if they were.

Kwaruza smiled at Tamu and nodded.
"True, true." She smiled and watched as Tamu drank some water.
"I adore the place, my children do as well. This place is the most perfect home I could have imagined." She smiled at Tamu again.
"I would never have thought that a place like this would exist, somewhere where my children are happy to settle and stay. I adore the sea as well it makes for wonderful swimming in the mornings." She adored her swimming sessions, she could swim for ages and her son Chuju is the same. This place was perfect in so many ways and she adored it.
"How are things going with you then Tamu?"

"Always glad to hear that," she said, her chin dripping with liquid. "This is the only home I've known, but its always great to hear that lions are settling well here."
Her fur was already starting to dry in some places with the warmth filtering through the treetops. A few bugs hovered around, to Tamu's annoyance.
"Oh a morning swim? Be careful something doesn't nibble your paws," she laughed, speaking from experience. "I can't tell you how many times I've ran back onshore with a crab attached to my foot or my tail."
Its ironic how often she was afflicted by crabs considering it was a crab that got her mother and father together in the first place.
"Oh I'm fine really..." she said, a little resistant to what she really wanted to say. She looked down at her paws and made patterns in the soft sandy earth.

Kwaruza laughed a little when she spoke of the crabs attached to her foot!
"Chuju seems to attract those things, he always ends up having one get him but I suppose I am lucky, I have not yet met one attached to me." She smiled. She adored her morning swims and was sure that even if a crab got her every now and then it wouldn't stop her swimming, not at all.
Fine? Tamu sudddenly seemed far from fine.
"Whats wrong?"

Tamu smiled at Kwaruza for the story about Chuju, but it disappeared quickly after being questioned and all of a sudden, anything was more interesting than this conversation. She even took a breath as if ready to say something then looked like she'd changed her mind.
"...I've just been a bit busy really...lots of new lions to meet and get settled and so forth, and they all need showing where to sleep, where to drink, where to hunt, where to make offerings, WHEN to make offerings....and its been a bit manic really," she finally admitted, a little sheepish.
She felt embarrassed to say it, as if she couldn't cope with it all. But could she?

Kwaruza looked at Tamu and sighed a little.
"Tamu maybe you should allow someone to help you? I would help in anyway I can, just tell me what to do and I will do it!" She smiled at the other lioness hoping that she wouldn't see the offer as an insult but as a friend trying to help a friend.
"Sometimes it's just good to have some help, that and it will give you more time to just be yourself too!" She continued to smile while watching her carefully. She was trying to work out how Tamu was about to react.

Tamu looked thoughtful. She had a 'thoughtful face.' Everyone had one, and Tamu's involved a slight furrowing of her eyebrows in a worried manner, a slightly skew jaw as if she was jutting it forward, and big, doleful eyes. She looked to Kwaruza, then to her paws, back to Kwaruza, back to her paws, now to the water.
Help? Would that...be allowed? She felt confused more than anything, or curious perhaps. Her father had mostly run the pride alone, but he DID have her mother by his side. Who did Tamu have - no one. But should it be king and queen only? Tamu had already made changes to what her father had planned by removing the king and queen as ruling forces. She didn't like the whole 'royalty' thing, even though she WAS one. It felt like she was more important than the rest but really, she wasn't. It needed everyone to run a pride.
So...what to do...
"I...I dunno...I do like the idea...but my dad never had any help...although I suppose things are different now. He's not ruling any more, and the pride's getting bigger every day..." she said, still a little sheepish.

Kwaruza watched as Tamu seemed to have issues with whether or not to accept help. She thought it made sense really, if you need some help you should take it but then it was up to Tamu.
"Well if you need help, you know where I am. I am more then happy to help you in anyway possible." She smiled again, hoping that if Tamu was struggling she would at least allow someone to help her.

Tamu smiled at Kwaruza, very appreciative of the offer. She'd need a while longer to think it over though, or wait for some kind of sign that it was the right thing to be doing. Maybe she should just take a chance this once and just see if Kwaruza can really help. If things ran smoothly, she'd know she did the right thing. If not, well then no big loss....except maybe it would mean an awkward conversation with her later...
...what was she doing!? Over thinking things again. As always. Thinking about every little mishap and mistake that might occur as a result of her decision.
"What do you do most of the day Kwaruza?" she asked, seemingly changing the subject but she wanted to know for a reason.

"Not much, I hunt and then wander around checking my family are okay, meet those I don't know... then swim somemore. Not much really." She wasn't overly sure why Tamu was changing the subject but she allowed her. She knew it seemed to be a hard time with the idea of having help so she let it slip.
"Why?" She was curious as to why Tamu asked that though, out of everything she could have asked.

Tamu then had that supposedly innocent look of thinking or scheming, like when you've thought of something specific but someone has caught you doing it, or guessed what's next.
"No reason...just like to know what my constituents and friends are up to really," she said, still sounding 'innocent'. She was a terrible liar. "I'd hate to think...there wasn't enough for you to do...I mean, how does that reflect on m-me...not giving enough challenges or things for my friends to do..."
There was a pause as Tamu continued to look at her paws rather than Kwaruza, doodling shapes in the sand with her claws.
"...because I suppose...if you did want to keep busy...helping me out would be a way to do it, right?"
This was a very clumsy and long-winded attempt at Tamu justifying her decisions. It was a little naive and showed that she could do with a guide or support, someone else to lean on for another opinion.
