I'm going to be going to Germany over the summer, and will be spending about two months there. In the process of my preliminary planning, I've stumbled across mention of international student ID cards, which allow (allegedly) one to get student rates at museums, cultural events, movies, etc, while abroad, and sometimes other discounts as well... I was hoping someone here might have a bit of experience with these cards, and if so, might impart their wisdom on the topic. Should I bother? Where do I go to get one? Etc.

Here's a link to a site about them. I haven't really looked at this sight in depth but it looks like you can get some questions answered. smile

It seems like a good idea, unless you're one of those people who doesn't want to be revealed as a forgeiner... ninja

I hope your trip to Germany is awesome by the way, and that you get a lot out of it and well, whatever you're going for and looking for. smile I hope to go there someday myself.

Thanks. I'm mostly going there to improve my German; I'll be doing two courses with Goethe Institut, one in Munich, the other in Hamburg. Also, seeing as I want to major in German, it kind of makes sense to have been there at least once... sweatdrop

Okay, I know this is a little late, but I think when we were in France we just showed our passport to get student rates. Rather than student, I think it means under 18 like our local bus lets "students," aka minors ride free.

If anyone is considering getting an ISIC, it's actually worth it, at least for Germany. The only thing is that some places wanted to see an ISIC and an ID from an actual school or university (apparently there are a lot of frauds going around).
