Today was what Azriell'Kyupe liked to refer to as a lazy day. Not getting up until past sunrise, and even then getting ready at her own pace, lounging around on a nice warm rock all day, sunning herself. Her mother had the cubs for the day, so she had one of those rare opportunities where she could rest and relax, without fear for her children's safety. She did relish moments like these.
Rolling over onto her back, legs dangling in the air a little, a contented purr vibrated from the femme's maw as the lovely rays from the big fireball in the sky shone down onto her belly, warming it pleasantly. The sun was so lovely here in the savannah. But to couple that with the sea down by the Bahari'mtoto lands...well, that'd just be even more perfect. A sigh parted the lionness' lip as she rolled back onto her front, head in her paws and little depressed. The only trouble she was having was securing her cubs a safe guardian. Her mother had her own cubs to deal with - she couldn't expect her to look after another six. She needed someone else. Someone she could trust.

It hadn't taken Pembe'juhi long to realize that there were little cubs running around that bore his markings. He could only gather that they were from his get together with Azi. While he was unsure of what she felt at the time about having cubs, he had stayed his distance from her but made sure to introduce himself to the cubs. The last thing he wanted to do was to have the cubs thinking that they didn't have a father or to think ill of him.
And the tiny pitter-patter of pawpads behind him caught his attention. One of his daughters, Jesenya, was following him around today since he was showing her some of his favorite sites. "Come on Jesenya, let's get going!" He looked at her with a warm smile.
Happily bouncing after her father, Jesenya was rather shy with the rest of her littermates but took to her father very well. She had recognized him and his markings, very similar to her own.
With each step, she made sure that her little pawprints were inside of her fathers. Her father's were so much bigger than her own! Her tail flicked happily as she looked at him, "I'm coming, Dad!"

That voice...it sounded strangely familiar. Looking up, ears erect, Azriell narrowed her eyes to get a better look at the two shapes moving across the savannah in front of her. One she recognized instantly - Jesenya, one of her own. Who was she following, though? Large and pink... The lionness froze, her fears confirmed as the word 'dad' flowed from her daughter's maw. Her ears instinctively pinned back against her daughter's head, Azi beginning to form her mouth into a snarl before stopping herself. No - that wasn't what was needed at all. It...it wasn't Pembe's fault.
But how had he found out?
"Jesenya," she called, loud enough for her daughter to hear. Her emerald eyes avoided Pembe, instead focused on just her daughter, figure tensed uncomfortably. "Will you come here, please?"
What was she going to do now?

Just as she was keeping up with her father, Jesenya heard her mother's call. With her ears lowered slightly, she didn't want to leave her dad just as they were about to go and have some fun, but she couldn't ignore her mother. Her blue eyes gazed up at her father, unsure of what to do.
At the sound of a voice calling out the Jesenya, Pembe knew instantly who it was. He paused briefly and looked at his daughter. With a gentle smile, he nudged her towards her Mom, "Don't make her wait too much longer." He kept his eyes on his daughter as she made her way towards her mother. His gaze shifted towards the lioness, he could see the tension on her features and didn't make a move to come closer. He'd let her get comfortable before taking up her space.
With a slight pout at her father, "Alright." She turned and bound off towards her mom. Curious, she had no idea what was going on between her parents but being a cub, those complicated things didn't mean much to her at this stage. "Yes, Momma?"

Pembe was touching her - he knew. He definitely knew. The way he touched her - gently. Not too cautiously, as if it might've been if she wasn't his cub. But gently and fondly. He most certainly knew, and that was what worried Azriell the most. Would he be angry at her, like she'd been back then? As Jesenya bounded over, the female lowered her head, gently nuzzling her nsoe into her daughter's head as a sign of fondness. She was quick to raise a paw, however, nudging her daughter in the opposite direction to her father.
"Go play with your siblings, Jesenya. Me and Pembe need to talk."
It was a no-nonsense tone of voice, not really giving the cub the chance to complain.

She nodded at her mother's words and went off to where her siblings would be. Jesenya knew better than to not listen to her mother and make her mad. Besides, she could do stuff later on, now wasn't the only chance she had to be with her dad.
As his daughter walked off quietly, Pembe kept his gaze on her before turning them back towards Azi. He stood there quietly before greeting her, "Hello Azi." There were so many things that were going through his head, but he'd wait to say or ask anything until Azi said something since he didn't know where to start.
