Ready Everyone? All Together Now...
EW!
Not sure exactly what I'm talking about? Been living under a rock? Well, head over to the Repossession Mambo Wiki Page and learn your stuff.
Here's What I think: I for one feel very sad, not only if the fact that they would dare make this film, but because the lead character is a Repo Man named Remy. One of my characters in the Repo RP I created is Remy, and he's my lovely Repo Man.

It sucks for Darren and Terrance and the whole cast and crew of Repo! but I think the more of a fuss we make about it, the more Repo Mambo fans are going to feel like the victims and hate Repo! when they shouldn't, and it may unintentionally help create a buzz around Repo Mambo.
If it's possible to do without getting kicked off the property, I may try to hang around the movie theater when Repo Mambo is playing and wear a Repo! shirt, talk about Repo! to them, and maybe even hand out flyers. If the premise interests them and they want to see a similar (and most likely more interesting) film then we could convert them to Repo! without alienating them.
Either way, who the hell is going to be getting Repo Mambo tattoos? It'll most likely end up as a somewhat forgettable scifi film that some people may love, but no one's going to love it like we love Repo!

Masquerade! Paper faces on parade. Masquerade!
What Swift said.
Also, since it was pushed back until next year you can bet Universal is feeling really nervous about releasing it after Repo! is reaching such a triumphic level beyond anything LGF could imagine. Releasing "Repossession Mambo" as LGF begins to finally realize they have a gold mine might not be a good thing for them. After all, as more and more people learn about Repo! and the result of "theft" RM is it will not get the support they need to make as much money as they would have.
Hide your face so the world will never find you...

Swift & Phantomess: Oh, I agree completely with you both, and that is why I posted a topic here and not on a fan site for the film.

ick. I hate when this happens. Whats worse, was that the editing for both the movies were in buildings right across from each other.

The editing isn't such a big deal; that's very late in the process of making a film. The worst parts are that Terrance and Darren say that they know for a fact that there are people who worked on Repo Mambo who saw Repo! on stage, and of course the fact that Darren Bousman shopped Repo! to Universal.

Someone asked Terrance about this on RRT NJ. Terrance said that flukes like this do happen in the movie world, like how movies about similar things get released at the same time, etc. But they know the people who made Mambo were there for the stage play of Repo. They know they were both done in Toronto, around the same time, IN THE SAME STUDIO. They actually shared a wall in the studio while they were doing the music, the Mambo people were literally right next to them.
The storylines are too similar to be a coincidence. It's just a fact. Terrance said he wouldn't patronize the movie to go and see it. It's just so stupid and sad how Repo wasn't even given a chance and now someone else went and stole their idea, and the movie will probably get a wide release.

I think its Universal who's doing it. Lionsgate is popular, but not as much as Universal. Sadly.

Hmm, that's quite problematic. Also, it's starring Jude Law, and he's got a lot of fangirls, and Forest Whittaker, who's liked by critics (and is quite a good actor). Probably when the movie comes out, the controversy will hit national news, and Repo! may finally get its deserved positive attention (from besides the fans, I mean). Still, I feel like this movie will be a rip-off unless they take a totally different premise. It's listed as a sci-fi movie, but that's a really broad genre. *shakes head*
I don't get why Universal would ask Bousman to get rid of the musical scenes of Repo! even though its title is Repo! The Genetic Opera, unless they didn't know anything about its stage origins.

Poor Repo!
Swift & Phantomess - You have said everything I could have.
With this coming out, Will Terrance and Darren still be able to bring out The other two Repo! films?

Well hopefully Mambo will not be as popular. Esp since Repo is out now so people may be like "wait i've heard this story before...". Tho universal will prob have an advertising edge / put in in more theaters. I'll do my best to keep my friends on the Opera track tho lol.
And Swift I totally agree with ya about being a Repo TGO rep outside of anywhere showing Mambo. I'd do it as long as I had a partner.
Also, in my personal opinion... Repossession Mambo just doesn't roll off the tounge as nice as Repo The Genetic Opera lol.
And Mambo is just a straight movie right? No song n dance? What's the fun in that lol

Pneumonia-Repo was released first, so making the other two Repo movies shouldn'd be a problem. I do think there's much Universal could do about stopping the production of any movies that are part of the actual Repo sereis.
