Baako led his new "friend" through the savannah in silence. The pair had agreed to travel together on the condition that they continued to challenge one another in order to prove who was actually better. The pale serval, however, was running low on ideas as to just what they could do in order to achieve their goal. Unable to simply sit and think, Baako continued forward, pressing on through the grasslands and only pausing to get a drink of water when he felt weary. Perhaps that was a test in itself. How long could she go without whining and complaining about the fact that Baako had no plan? If she was the first to speak between the two, perhaps that showed she had smaller patience than he? He would win then, right?
Pausing at a small watering hole during their travels, Baako quietly made his way to the waters edge and knelt down to lap up the water.
"Ah. Another one of you, eh." a brightly colored blue bird said boldly. He sat in a tall tree above the watering hole, eyeing the pair of servals curiously. Thaka was not typically the type to strike up a conversation with a stranger, let alone a serval, but he had been resting for some time alone and actually looked forward to company.
Hadi was growing bored, they hadn't come up with any new challenges lately and she was anxious. They were pretty even when it came to their scores. What would they do now? She couldn't be sure and it bothered her.
"Baako," She started calmly as to not sound impatient. "Do you have any ideas?" She asked as though it was simply a stray thought. When the bird spoke she glanced at him bored. "Who are you?"

Baako had begun to lap up the water eagerly when he heard Hadi's voice reach his ears. Lifting his head, he narrowed his eyes on her and almost let out a laugh. Aha! She had been the first to break the silence! Baako was feeling rather proud of himself and opened his mouth to speak when he heard a strange voice come from up above. Lifting his head, the serval looked up at the strange bird. Licking his lips, Baako grinned. "The first one of us to get the bird wins." He said coldly, ignoring the words Thaka had said to him. The high climb did not put Baako off from the challenge. The pair hadn't eaten for some time and it was worth a shot.
Thaka gave himself a short bow when Hadi asked him who he was, "I am Thaka. I have ventured far from my home in order to see the world. I am simply here to rest." Before the bird could continue conversation he heard the pale serval's proposition. Thaka had hoped that his position high up in the tree would discourage the pair of servals. Flapping his wings and taking off into the air above them, Thaka called out, "I hate to ruin any of your games, but I am not about to sit around and let another serval try and make a lunch of my head!"
He looked so smug, it was disgusting. It wasn't as though she had lost or anything, no she just wanted to do something, something that actually required words. Traveling in silence was boring, worse than having nothing to do. So she set about fixing it. "Easy." She replied to his new little game watching as the bird took to the sky. The height and the fact the other was in the air didn't bother her at all. No it made things more interesting. She had caught birds from more difficult places. She flexed her claws when she spoke of another serval.
Another? Perhaps it would be a more interesting one and she could leave Baako for more favorable company. While that sounded nice she knew it wouldn't happen. "Wait." She told her companion watching the bird. "What do you mean?"
After his meeting of Hadi, any thoughts of Korrin had almost entirely left Baako's mind. The serval had become so caught up in his desire to prove Hadi wrong he had almost forgotten his original quest to find his brother. The female's comment about the hunt being easy caused the male to flex his muscles tauntingly and prepare his plan for just how he'd be able to catch the bird. Once again Baako would have entirely missed Thaka's comment had it not been for Hadi's dismissal of their game. "Why wait? Are you that certain you'll lose?" The serval teased.
Baako almost ate his words when what Thaka had said finally hit him. "Another serval? Near this area?" For lions it would be strange to become hopeful at the news of another rogue lion nearby because they often travelled in groups and had such great numbers, but for servals it was an entirely different matter. Baako wondered just how long both he and Hadi had been traveling. Could it have been possible for Korrin to have also made it this far? Baako approached the tree, looking up towards the bird flying overhead. "What did the serval look like?"
Thaka could tell now that the female was certainly the brains of the operation. Landing on the tree once again he was glad that he had caught he attention. While he doubted the pair could catch him in the air, he had been resting and was still weary from the long flight. He didn't want to worry about the pair tracking his flight and catching him once he landed. Directing his news to Hadi and disregarding Baako, the bird continued, "There was another lone serval traveling near this area not long ago. He was dark in color with similar markings to that one.." Thaka made a gesture towards Baako.
"Of course not you idiot." Hadi growled rolling her eyes. While he was rather skillful sometimes she wondered if he even had a brain. She liked a good challenge but she liked a bit of brain with her muscle. It wasn't odd for her to hear of a lone serval, she herself had traveled on her own before meeting Baako, whom she regretted knowing occassionally. "Did he give you a name or did he simply try to eat you?" She asked calmly still ready to launch herself at the bird if her companion tried. Slowly she turned her head in his direction. "Do you know him?"

Baako growled when the bird directed his attention to Hadi. He had considered himself the leader of the pair because he directed them to wherever it was that they travelled. It was an insult for the bird to assume otherwise! While Hadi and Thaka spoke to one another, Baako waited as patiently as he could to ask a couple more questions. The possibility of finding his brother had the light colored serval both eager and curious to learn more of what the bird had to say. Looking Hadi over as she spoke, Baako was surprised to see that she was still prepared to act, her muscles taught. At the thought of Korrin, Baako's muscles had all relaxed and his eyes were hopeful.
Almost embarased about how he seemed to be acting, Baako made sure to look only to the bird while speaking. He didn't want to give Hadi the impression that he was weak. "That doesn't sound familiar." He lied. What reason would he have to care about any other serval? He forced himself to think. With a shrug, the cat quickly made his way from the small pool of water and began to continue on his travels. Their game was off and he was no longer interested.
"A name.. hrm.. I don't believe so. The serval tracked me for some time looking hungry. He was thin and alone." Thaka was surprised at first when Baako simply let the conversation die and turn his back on the pair. From the corner of Baako's face, however, the bird could tell the serval's demeaner had changed. The bird had said something of interest and the cat was trying to feign uninterest. Curious about the strange antisocial cat, Thaka quickly added, "The closest prides around this area are the Simbafutaji. They are accepting of other species and might be a good place to check for your friend."
Hadi was far from stupid and could tell that he wasn't being truthful. "Baako." She stated his name and watched with disapproval as he turned his back on them. Heaving a sigh she decided right now wasn't the time to pry. "The Simbafutaji?" She repeated going over the name carefully. "Alright, thank you." She paused glancing back at her pale companion. It would be good to keep this information. "We'll look in to it. I appreciate the help." Another pause. "I apologize for planning to eat you." With that her muscles relaxed, no longer would she aim to strike.
No she had things more difficult to deal with. Turning away from the bird she moved to Baako's side. "Is something wrong?" No matter how much he annoyed her she still cared, just a little of course.
Thaka smirked at Hadi seemd to relax and thank him. If the pale colored serval would not admit to appreciating the information, as least his companion would. With a short bow, Thaka bid the servals farewell, "You are very welcome and I appreciate not being hunted." The bird couldn't help but let out a light laugh. It was certainly interesting conversation to discuss whether or not one would become eaten. As the pair of servals continued on, curiously in the direction of the Simbafutaji, Thaka simply watched them and continued to rest. Soon he'd return home and have another story to tell Lesedi!
Baako was surprised to see Hadi hurry to his side after he had continued on. He was also surprised with how interested she appeared to be in the information. Did she know why the bird's words meant anything to him? Or was she simply curious about another serval so that she might leave his side and meet someone new? Baako felt himself growling beneath his breath at the thought. Hadi had to stay with him.
Hadi's question went unanswered for a good couple miles as Baako thought to himself. He had no reason to explain anything to Hadi - afterall, she didn't care about him, she simply cared about whether or not her pride would be wounded. Bitterly, the serval growled and mumbled along the way. In the distance Baako could see the shapes of various lions gathered together. "This must be it.." He said quietly. Turning back to see Hadi, Baako said, "I may know that serval." A part of Baako wanted to tell Hadi should would be coming with him, but something held him back. She had been good to him during their travels, perhaps she deserved a break. "I am going in to look for him. If you would like to stay behind - or leave - you're welcome to do as you please."

Hadi was annoyed by his lack of an answer. She had tried to show that she cared, if only a tiny bit, and he had rejected her! How rude! She couldn't get over how much it actually bothered her to know this. Did it mean that she had actually grown fond of the pale male. No! It couldn't be...could it.?
"You might?" She repeated her brows creasing together as she thought over the information. Was this good or bad news for her? He probably had been doing something before they met so she couldn't be jealous. What if he left her to reunite with whomever it was? She didn't want that.
At his suggestion she laugh. "You think you're going to leave me behind? No way." No, he wouldn't be leaving her. She wouldn't let him. "I'm going with you."
There wasn't a chance that he'd leave her behind. She'd stick with him whether he liked it or not. End of story.
