Normally Ini would run in the morning, bright and early before anyone had even woken up. Today however was different. He had slept much longer than normal, perhaps because he was thinking about his new friend, and hadn't had the chance to go out and run until late in the evening when the sun was setting.
It was rather disappointing to the male, who had assumed at Otea had already been called in and would not be able to join him. Still he had a routine that he'd keep. He would still go running.
Even though he didn't think she'd be out he found himself running in the direction of her den.
Sure enough, the younger female was outside her den, but her bright blue eyes watched the cautious glow of her parents’ eyes from within the darkness. “I’ll be in soon mommy!” She called out, reassuring her before continuing her once before quest. There was a golden butterfly on a small gray rock just laying there, its wings flickering occasionally. Her head gave a tilt, wondering why when this one moved, it would lift itself in the air instead of using the ground.
Otea wanted wings so she too could be like the beautiful flutter that seemed to be so content in front of her. When she was older perhaps she too would sprout the extra limbs! Otea the dreamer, she fits her name well.

He had been so focused on his running he hadn't noticed her at first. Then he saw the butterfly. Slowing down until he was only trotting he watched the butterfly when he caught her movement from the corner of his eye. "Otea!" He called a large grin spreading across his lips. He was absolutely thrilled to see that he hadn't missed her yet. "I thought you'd be inside already." He called switching directions and walking towards her.
Already the butterfly had fluttered out of his mind. "I'm sorry I haven't come by earlier I, er, slept in."
Her bright blue eyes drifted from the butterfly to the small pitter of paws moving towards her. It was Ini!! He was late…she frowned, but when he apologized she shook her head, grinning like a Cheshire Cat. “And here I thought you forgot about me!” She purred, crouching low to the ground and growling playfully at the male. She lunged, aiming for the spot cubs liked to go for the most, the ears. Even though it was getting late, and the sun would soon be below the horizon, Otea still found the time to play.
”Did you at least have a good dream?” The cream colored cub asked with a muffled voice from the ear in her maw.

At her cheerful reply he laughed and shook his head. "I could never forget about you." He stated completely and utterly sure about the statement. She caught him off guard, for once, and he fell to the ground on his back squirming as she caught his ear. "Hey! Letgo! You know that's my weak spot!" He told her still smiling and laughing. His statements were true, all ears were senstive but his, well they were more sensitive than most. Too bad she already caught him.
"I did." He replied with a nod still attempting to pull free. "I was running on clouds, it was like I was really flying! But..." He paused a small frown forming.
She did let go, but only after she had held it for a few more seconds.
Otea’s eyes closed, imagining the dream herself. He was running (which was one of Ini’s passions it seemed like) but when he mentioned flying her heart seemed to soar. Just earlier she was thinking she wanted to fly, and now here her best friend was dreaming as if he had! “Lucky, I want a dream like that!” She stated, but her ears flickered backs slightly as his voice faltered, and a frown had appeared on his maw.
”But…?” her ears drooped then. Buts always meant something bad.

His mother always had dreams to fly, he find her in a tree eyes closed letting the feeling of the wind let her fly. He wanted to experience the same thing but honestly trees just weren't cutting it for him. So he ran, ran to feel the gush of the wind wrap around him and take him soaring. One day he'd feel how it was like to really fly. Until then; well he was content to just run. "I bet you'll have them sometime." He told her still thinking about the not so happy parts of his dream.
"I felt like I wasn't just running for myself. That I was running for someone else." He paused his brows furrowing as he contemplated the thought. "I felt like I was looking for someone. Someone who I'd lost. I couldn't figure out who."
”It’s one thing to dream though; I hope when I get older, I will actually get wings!” She was still young, and really didn’t know that one just couldn’t sprout wings and fly. She actually didn’t know of the gods either, so in her mind the thought of having wings would be an ‘only her’ kind of thing. Well…she and Ini if he could get them too, then they could fly instead of run! She would most definitely would beat him in the air.
”That sounds like a scary dream. But maybe it was just that, a dream you know? My mommy always says that dreams aren’t real, no matter how real they seem to be.” She assured the male. What made a dream anyway? A bad day? That would probably make a nightmare actually, but a dream…hmm.

He laughed at her idea the bad feelings left from the end of his dream vanishing. "You're silly. Lions can't grow wings." He told her rolling over to his stomach with her weight still on him. "At least I don't think so...Maybe you'll be the first!" He himself didn't know of gods either and thus didn't think that she couldn't grow wings. "That'd be amazing!"
Her words made him think and he nodded. "Yeah, probably. Can't think of who I'd lose anyway." He shrugged his shoulders. The only people he really cared about were his mother and Otea. His father was there yes but he always seemed so detached. He hoped he never became like that.
”Maybe…” she contemplated. Another dream she would strive for, but first, she had to ask her mom and dad how it was just possible that the butterfly had sprouted wings. Then, she would follow suit of the bug and voila!
“See! Then you have no worries then! As long as you keep the ones you know and love close, then you won’t have anything to worry about anyways!” She said cheerfully, watching the last bit of rays from the sun disappear over the horizon. “It’s time!” She said in an outburst, gazing back into the den to notice the glowing eyes were no longer there.
”Let’s go!” She said quickly, bouncing off the male before heading to the small field just left of the den.

"I guess you're right." He replied with a nod. He didn't want to think about it anymore, not when he could be paying attention to other things. "What?" He asked when she said it was time. Time for what? Did they have plans that he wasn't aware of? Didn't she need to go inside? Oh well. "Wait! Where are we going?" He called after her watching for a minute before realizing that he should be following her.
"Hey wait up!" He told her knowing full well that he could catch her if he wanted but he still wanted her to wait. She couldn't always just charge off blindly without him!
”Come on slow poke!” She grinned, but waited for the male anyways. They were near the field to begin with, but she liked to get there right before the show started.
”I come here at this time every night when the yellow star sinks into the ground. Watch,” she said quietly, darkness developing the land with just the slightest hint of orange near the base of the sky. When that too disappeared, ‘stars’ came out, twinkling away with no tomorrow. However, these stars weren’t the normal stars in the sky that you could almost touch but it was just no in reach. These stars you could actually feel if you were lucky enough to catch one.
”The stars of the lands, right in our own backyard!” She didn’t know the name for the flies, but they still were beautiful to look at. “Here is where you can make a wish. My mom said to me if you make a wish on the stars, it could come true. But those stars are so far away, how can they hear us? But these…these stars are so close.”

"I'm coming, I'm coming." He told her with a chuckle as he slightly picked up his pace so she wouldn't be waiting for him too much longer. "What is it?" He asked before she had even started explaining herself. Once she started he fell silent listening, waiting. He watched as the 'stars' poured out of no where occupying whatever space wasn't taken up by them. He tilted his head confused by the little glowing lights. His brows knotted together as he stared.
"Wow!" He exclaimed in hushed tones stepping forward into the clearing pulled in by the pretty little lights. "These are stars?" He asked glancing back to Otea. "Make a wish huh? I think I will." He closed his eyes and wished.
”Of course they are stars! I mean…what else could they be? The twinkle like stars, and you can only seem that at night like stars, so then they’re stars!” She said with a matter-of-factly tone as if she knew all the answers right then and there.
She wanted to know what his wish was, but she then knew that it would never come true. She didn’t pry, but instead, made a wish herself. Her eyes closed as her mind worded her wish carefully, before they fluttered opened. A ‘star’ blinked right before her eyes, causing her to giggle.
But before she could make a wish on another star, she her the voice of her mother call out from the den. “Maaaan,” she said with a frown, making a wish quickly out loud. “I wish I was older, and then I wouldn’t have to go in so early!”

"Well you have a point Otea." He replied with a nod blinking as one settled on his nose. He went cross-eyed trying to look at it before it fluttered away. He didn't have a chance to do anything else when an outside voice interrupted their play time. She had to leave? Already? "Aw. Well you'll be older tomorrow." He joked moving to her side and butting her lightly with his head. "I'll see you tomorrow?" He asked knowing what the answer probably would be. "I promise to come earlier so we have more time, okay?"
”Promise?” She asked, her blue eyes wide with pure innocence. “I’ll be waiting for you then!” She said with a returning head butt, before bounding towards her den. With a quick turn of her head, she called out, “Night Ini! Have a good dream!” before her body disappeared into the void of the den when her family was waiting.

"Promise." He replied with a nod before watching her run off. "You too!" he called in return before turning and continuing his run just like before. Another day, another time. He couldn't wait.
