Mmm, the smell of grubs...It was so delightful.
Sellion gazed at the wriggling grubs that squirmed and twitched under the large log he had just lifted up. The cheetah blew hair out of his face with a puff of breath, grinning. How they moved! It was positively disgusting! Sellion was quite content just watching them for several moments.
Then he shifted the log and dropped it, crushing the wiggling creatures with an audible splurt.
Sellion laughed his high-pitched laugh and scrambled away from the new grave site, tail bouncing behind him as he went.
What a lovely day!
The cheetah hummed, gazing for a bit too long into the sun as he walked. When he shifted his eyes back on the jungle trees before him, a strange shape entered his vision. It was surrounded by a halo of light, and strange, black lines swirled over it every time he blinked. Was it...
A DEMON?!
Heart skipping happily, Sellion bolted over to the figure, expecting the best. When he got closer however, the shape turned into something more familiar. And Sellion saw that it was just another cheetah. But a dark, black one with vibrant orange patterns. What a lovely, demonic coat...
"Good day~." Sellion slurred kindly, smiling. The sun-spots in his eyes were still in effect, making his already twitchy face even more insane-looking as he blinked.

 One step, Two step.
Scarred by the ghost stories that his father had nearly engraved within his once young, impressionable mind Athi had, through the years, found that the simple stories which cubs now a day would consider stupid were the fears that haunted him. It was pathetic, really, but it was something much like an invisable invalid which stalked the back of his mind constantly- perhaps waiting for the perfect moment to lerch from out of hiding and drag him into oblivion. The mere thought of such a thing caused the lanky, gangly cheetahs' frame to rattle, paws trembling as he breathed in and out deeply.
Big boys don't cry, he thought to himself over and over again.
Yes, he told himself the same thing, along with other helpful reminders, over and over again but to no avail did it seem to chase away the fear. The simplest trigger of fear, worry or dread seemed to leave him in a quivering mess, howling and near shrieking, even dashing away just as fast as his feet could carry him- or well, that was if he wasn't petrified as if his very feet had become attached to the ground itself.
But with the dawning of a new day and the lack of anything too frightening rearing its ugly head from out of nowhere, the young cheetah was left to lurk within the shadows, keeping himself away and out of sight. In anothers own, clear logic it was to be believed that an individual would avoid the shadows rather than the light, wasn't it? But within the skewed rationality of the orange and black cheetah, there was no such thing as rationality and nothing, perhaps no one, could be trusted. Nimble paws seemed to pad softly while his sleek form seemed to wrap itself tightly around the tree as he circled once, then twice in making sure that no one was watching him or no 'ghosts' were waiting to eat him. Black and orange swirled repeatedly as the cheetah nearly plastered himself against the tree walking around it while dull, blue orbs widened. A twinge of fear caused his ears to flicker before it caused his tail to rattle and wave about frantically.
"Don'tseedon'tsee...anyoooon," Athi whispered to himself, almost whining before his form slinked back behind the large tree and collapsed in a tired, dizzy heap.
But before any sense of security could be reached, a sudden and unexpected loud crash seemed to thrum through the silence along with a sickening, grotesque splurt which caused the cheetah to scramble to his paws, biting his lower lip while his front forelegs began to knock together with tremors. "AHHHHH!" He screeched, ears pinning against his head as he backed himself up against the tree, panting heavily.
With the rapid rise and fall of his chest Athi was starting to feel that his worst fears were coming true. Not only that but he was certain that his heart was soon to burst out from his chest and explode! Squeezing his eyes shut as he couldn't help but nearly gasp for air, the male tensed.
Was it over? Was he alive?
Athi managed to open one eye but, as luck would have it, someone was staring at him- they were too close! Dull, blue orbs suddenly widened while ears perked upward and his jowls all but fell open. Even as the stranger spoke Athi could feel his whole body begining to quiver, trembling with such a jolt that one would have thought that the bones themselves would rattle or break! Already he knew it, he was staring death in the face. These were his final moments- his last goodbye! He had to- no, he must be brave! Perhaps someone would remember him even if they were bound to be the very thing to eat him!
Biting his lips as his tail curled around his body, the cheetah whined softly- ears returning to sulk against his skull as he tried to speak. "H-H-He-Hiiiii?" He eased out, somewhat in a high tone of voice as he tried to scoot his way away from the stranger ever so slightly.
Although he had taken an initiative to speak it couldn't be helped that the poor cheetah was on the verge of a metal breakdown as tears began to welt in his eyes.
"I'mgonnadieI'mgonnadieI'mgonnadie," he mumbled to himself, scooting away from the other cheetah and slowly around the tree.
Where was a hero when you needed one?

Sellion frowned, fangs sticking out awkwardly as though he were sneering. His tail flicked behind him in some motion of amusement as he watched the other cheetah, feeling a strange sense of nostalgia; familiarity. It was a good feeling. And it only made him walk closer to the cheetah, disregarding its obvious fear and panic.
Tripping over his feet, Sellion found himself face-to-face with the orange and black cheetah, confused by his mumbles of dying.
"Hmmmm?" the black and pink cheetah hummed, examining the other with a penetrating stare. He sniffed at the other a bit, continuing forward with every step the other cheetah took. He could smell no sign of disease or decay; no wounds or filth clung to the individual. Then what was going to kill him? "Why are you going to die, sir?" Sellion asked, automatically using the politeness which was drilled into his head at a young age.
Maybe there was a fire nearby...Or evil beasts coming forth from hell, and they were making there way to this part of the jungle at that very moment? Perhaps it was the end of the world?
Sellion stared at the cheetah expectantly for an answer.
The sunspots in his eyes were lessened, but Sellion was still getting lost in the swirling patterns of the orange and black male.
Swirls, swirls, swirls...

Even as the other cheetah loomed closer and found its face near Athi's, the cheetah winced. To think that today was going to be a good day! Dread seemed to wash over him while his tail twitched slightly- heart continuing to nearly flutter within the cavity of his chest while the world around him felt as if it was off kilter; things were spinning, somewhat topsy turvey! Athi's nostrils widened as he seized a great, deep breath of air while paws pushed him back, dragging his rump upon the ground in attempt to at least live to see another day. Although he was starting to find himself at a loss within the captivity of his own mind as words and fragments jumbled from his lips in an incoherent mess, something strange seemed to spark within his mind. He hadn't of realized it before as fear nearly swallowed him before but this- this cheetah looked familiar.
For a moment fear seemed to all but be forgotten, if only for a split second, as Athi's maw gaped open. "You-You-IKINDALOOKLIKEYOU!" The words simply blurted out of his mouth, albeit a bit loudly, as he continued with another shuffle around the tree.
An intoxicating amount of adrenaline had coursed into his veins, preparing him- no, urging him to run shrieking but, strangely, it was one of those moments where he felt as if he couldn't leave. Even as the other cheetah seemed to follow his ever scoot with one step closer, the male still couldn't help but stare. Unlike a monster that would so often be so voracious with apptetite and anxious claws this monster- cheetah, to be correct, seemed so... so caring. In Athi's relatively short lifetime, the only individuals that had ever cared for him were his parents, of course, and his brother Itha. But now, here, this stranger seemed so compassionate? No, so heroic! Could this be fate? Where all of his days of shrieking and running away from everything that moved or breathed finally over? Frantic breaths that nearly spat from his mouth slowed as the lanky creature peered upward into glistening, pink orbs. Athi couldn't help but curl his bottom lip while his frame rattled slightly with an exhale of a gasping breath.
"W-wh-what a-a-are y-y-yooooou?" The cheetah's ears flicked, perking upward before folding back several times while it appeared that the tremors caused his very head to bobble side to side. "Y-y-you're not going to eatmeareyou? I'mnotreadytodieandIhavesomanythingsIwanttodo," he was weeping, tears ambling from out of his eyes as he frantically scooted back, overshooting the turn before blaring sunlight seemed to flash across his fur and face.
All sanity was lost.
"MY EYES!" It was a shrill shriek followed by a sudden lunging cheetah diving into the shadows in a pathetic mess while forepaws slapped themselves over his eyes. "Burniiiiiiiiiing," Athi whined, drawling it out while his tail simply convulsed with sporatic thumps behind him. "Hurtiiiing."
That searing light- he could feel his retinas already to the point to explode or be set a-blaze! With the sensation of warmth still lingering on his face, Athi reeled to and fro on his back. What a horrible thing, light was! A low whimper slipped from out of him as the cheetah moaned, whining uneasing as he curled out tightly in spite of his figure looking as if it was soon to rupture due to the unsteady, somewhat chaotic nature of his spazzing. But in spite of all of this, Athi managed to weeze out an answer. "Monsters, ghooooosts- ghosty lioooons," choked on his own words, the cheetah lifted his paws away from his eyes ever so slightly. "GhostsgetrealhungryandeatAthiiiiiiii. Daddy said so. And I listened. And I don't want to get hurt. Again."
Paws flattened themselves over his eyes before an onset of sniffling and weezing began.
"Everything the light touches is not my friiiiiiend. I'm so alooooooone..."

((I LOL'D HARD.))
Something strange was happening inside of Sellion. His ideals, wishes, dreams, ambitions, sorrows, wants, memories, loves, hates...They were all being multiplied in his mind by several hundred times. But it wasn't a bad thing. No, he was feeling so fresh and alive; so much like himself. Because this cheetah in front of him...This cheetah...
Was going to be his friend.
Oh, yes. It would happen. It had to. It was going to. In fact, it already had.
Sellion's face was a painting of humor and understanding. He knew everything this cheetah spoke of; he had experienced much of it. But even as the black and pink cheetah's mind was in such a blur of frenzied, frantic, unfamiliar and hyper thoughts, he managed to slow down enough to reply to what the other was saying, ears twitching madly and eyes still blinking from the remnants of sunspots; or perhaps it was in the habit of blinking from the sunspots...
"We ARE similar," Sellion began convincingly. But he, like the other cheetah, was constantly moving on to the next thing. "I am a cheetah." he said, almost proudly. But the pride was lost at the memory of bitter times; yelling fathers and upset mothers and stupid sister and kind, lovely sister. Did he hate cheetahs? No, he liked them. But did they like him? Did this cheetah hate him? What did it mean to truly be a cheetah?
"FOOL!" Sellion bellowed. "I do not EAT my own KIND." and with that he decided that he didn't dislike his own kind at all. But the sudden glare of the sun and shrieking of a new "friend" shifted Sellion's mind into turbo drive.
"YOUR EYES!" he screamed, throwing himself to the floor in a flurry of dead leaves and dirt. "BURNING FIRE, NO!" he screeched, smearing his face in the dirt as if it were some flame-resistant protection. Fire was his worst and most despised fear. It was his phobia; his destined demise. His dear sister had died in a fire and it was his greatest fear that he would be consumed in those very flames. But it was also his greatest want. He wanted to burn with Chana in the flames of hell evermore, evermore, evermore dead with his sister...But not yet. The fire was frightening. He hated it!
"Ghosts..." Sellion echoed pathetically, not paying attention to the words coming out of his own mouth. Then he realized he was on the ground, smearing his face in dirt, and there was no fire in sight or smell or sound. So he scrambled to his feet, eyes darting left and right quickly as he surveyed the area. All was well. No ghosts. And Sellion could see ghosts, oh yes. He could see them sometimes, glaring at him in the shadows of trees...
"There are no ghosts here, silly orange boy." Sellion explained matter-of-factly. His tail gave a casual sway and he relaxed his face. "Never listen to your fathers." he said darkly after a moment of thought. "Fathers are wrong all of the time. All of the time." he said, nodding wisely.

Dull, blue orbs were left to stare up into the eyes of the pink and black cheetah, watching as if a rush of emotions and sudden unseen invalids kindled some unknown, terrifying idea behind the strange cheetahs eyes. Dread seemed to churn a sickly feeling within the pit of Athi's stomach as he whimpered slightly, tail curling around his body while his ears only sunk themselves against his skull in a pathetic display of weakness. He was helpless- left to the desires of this madman while memorable glimpses of his relatively short, frightful life flashed before his eyes. Although that did little to give him assurance that this would bring about an end to a good life- it only made him realize what a loser he was. The bottom lip of the lanky, cheetah's lip stuck out, quivering with a slight wibble while his eyes glazed over with welting tears. Athi's continuing trembling caused his frame to shake as he hunkered himself lower, shrinking down as he waited for whatever was to happen to happen as he squeezed his eyes shut. But no devastating final blow came, no severing of his jugular- no. In fact, what the other cheetah spoke seemed to quickly cause Athi to open his eyes wide while his jaw hung slack in disbelief.
Similar. They were?
It was puzzling but somewhere deep within his wounded, limp heart of hearts Athi believed it. Granted that the two of them were cheetahs, and that itself was a similarity, it seemed that ceratinly there were more things that struck such a familiar chord that it was impossible not to believe such a thing. The younger male lifted his head up slightly, one ear perking upward with full attention just before it seemed that wires, tempers or something else was crossed as the other suddenly bellowed.
"IDIDNTDOIT!" Athi shrieked, paws flailing over his eyes as his posture reverted low, almost sunken to the ground.
Although it was somewhat comforting as well as a relief to hear that the other didn't eat his own kind, Athi sighed lightly- one of the many weights that toppled over his shoulders was now lifted yet the burdens felt no lighter than before. But as if to make matters worse it would seem that the cheetah before posessed fears of his own- fears that Athi could like to although not a wholly. It was when the older cheetah threw himself into a flurry of dirt and leaves that Athi watched with eyes peeking from underneath his paws and ears twitching. He was scared, Athi could decipher that much, of fire. Athi didn't like fire either as that was said to be where ghostly lions and other creatures ventured or were born from- some entrance into the world from the depths of hell and all of its bottomless fierocity!
But now there was fire out of nowhere? Flames just randomly combusting from out of the air and causing the other to panic? A long, trailing whine emitted from out of Athi's chest as he squirmed, fidgeting as he only manged to whimper. So was this to be his ending fate? Rogue fire coming to swallow him whole? Perhaps it would be quick- the less he felt the better.
Much like the calm after a storm, it seemed the sudden alarm disappated into nothingness. Peeking out from his paws, the cheetah sighed heavily.
All gone?"
Likewise with the fear retreating, Athi watched as the other scrambled up to his paws. But as to the comment of ghosts, Athi's eyes widened. "N-n-no ... no ghosts?"He bit his lower lip, glancing around once again just to make sure. Could this cheetah see things that he couldn't? Did he really know? Thoughts rattled through the younger males mind as his tail gave twitched and shook about like a thin branch caught by the wind. "But my dad always said that they're always around. W-w-was that a really bigbigbigbigbig lie too?" For the moment he could only knit his brows while belated tears trickled down his cheeks.
"Its a liiiiiiie?"

"Stop your blubbering!" Sellion chided, throwing himself in front of the cheetah. "If we are similar, then there is no crying like a CUB!" he screeched, not thinking about how he had just been on the ground screaming for mercy on his life like a baby. "If we are similar, you must be like me. Yes, you must be the most like me out of ANYone...I am trying to become a demon, you see. Demons are strong. Demons kill. Demons are ENVIED!" he wheezed, getting excited. "It is possibly for YOU to become one too, if you wished...And all things could be yours." he whispered. "But mostly mine." he added quickly.
Claws scratching the dirt anxiously, the black and pink cheetah's eyes darted left and right rapidly, as if paranoid for something. He heard noises; the sounds of licking flames. Coming closer, closer...NO, they wouldn't take him. Not yet. And neither would those lions who slaughtered his family. He would see them again, yes...He wanted to, actually...But not if they would kill him. He wouldn't die just yet. He had to be a demon. He still had to find his beloved sister!
That's when an idea struck.
This cheetah...Along with becoming Sellion's friend...Would become something else, too. This cheetah would HELP Sellion.
HE WOULD HELP HIM RULE THE WORLD! And become a demon! And find Chana! It was ALL possible!
Giggling like a small child, Sellion moved in place as if dancing, spinning in small circles.
"YOU!" he screamed suddenly, face pointed towards a tree. He paused, blinking at the tree. "You...have the power..." he began darkly, blank-faced. "...TO TURN INTO A TREE?!" he squealed gleefully. But the sound of breath shifted his attention and he turned around only to see the other cheetah right behind him. He stared, confused for a moment. But he forgot what he had been doing and simply smiled again, continuing his thought.
"You will aid me, fellow cheetah; FRIEND. Together, we will become something greater...We will become STRONG. NO ONE will stand in our way. I WILL become a demon, I WILL find my beloved sister, and YOU WILL help me!" he roared, feeling completely empowered. Now, all things were possible! LIFE WAS GOOD!
HE WAS A CHEETAH!
And he would rule the world.

Athi crept backward, ears pinning against his skull as he nodded several times while biting his lower lip. He sniffled, intaking a deep breath as he tried to gain whatever control over himself that he could- he had to! With finding that there was someone else like him, someone so similiar, the younger male couldn't help but feel so attached while a growing desire to remain loyal and close to the older male only stirred up feelings of something. Hope was it? Unsure of what exactly of what it was, Athi was determined to see to it that he wouldn't lose such a feeling. For once in his pathetic life he felt useful, he felt like he could become important and to be even more important he would have to be like the one before him; his new mentor. His friend. While it seemed happiness along with adrenaline flooded through his veins, the younger male perked his ears up slightly in alarm.
He was a demon? Or well, he was trying to become a demon? Somewhere in such logic Athi didn't understand. Weren't demons scary? Didn't they eat others? Brows knitted slightly as he glanced around, almost looking to see if this, of all times, was to be the end. But such a thought was simply crazy!
No, this was not the end.
This was the begining or moreso a chance for Athi to prove himself to the world that he was to be respected, to be envied! All things could be his, or at least things which his mentor did not claim, and it seemed as life had suddenly opened its many doors for him. He squeaked somewhat as it was mentioned that HE could become one as well! It seemed terrifying, dreadful, and hellacious yet, at the same time, he trusted his newfound friend without question. This strange connection, as if such a meeting was destined to hapen, held Athi on a tight leash with such a sudden, deep rooted praise where he would just about do anything to find favor within the eys of his new found friend.
The sudden scream caused the younger male to cower, body trembling as it seemed that somehow or another he was mistaken for a tree- or rather thought to have the power to turn into a tree. Slowly, Athi was begining to adjust to the loud fits and screams, the unpredictable behavior yet he was still, and would always be, a scaredy cheetah. But it seemed for now fear was all but forgotten as it was declared that Athi was to aid him, a FRIEND, to help him become greater. It was all but that moment where Athi could feel his heart swell to the point where it would explode inside of his chest, happiness and even sparkles envisioned raining inside of him with such a glorious proclamation made. Yes, alongside this sudden, newfound friend Athi was sure that no one would dare to stand in their way!
Tears helplessly streamed from his eyes while his lower lip trembled. "VIVA LA REVOLUCIOOOOOOON'!" Athi shrieked, a pathetic attempt to roar just as his friend yet he meant it. THis was a dawning of a new begining- a very, very scary and unknown begining but somehow it felt all the more exciting knowing that he wouldn't have to be alone anymore.
Rising up to his paws with a slight stumble, Athi approached the older male and suddenly flung his paws around him while the last of his joy filtered through his eyes. He gave a squeeze as he sniffled, clinging almost to the other as he softly drawled out a single word.
"Friiiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeennnnnd..."
