User Image There's a couple tops that i wanted that sold out recently,
but I've found them on eBay at decent prices...
Should I buy?

Discuss: The disappointment of sold out pieces,
buying clothes and other things on eBay,
..whatever else comes to mind...
Nyo.

I have known people who've shopped with ebay, including a sister. And yes, check the sizes so you know exactly what you're getting. Other than that I see no problem with it. I like to read the feedback on the sellers too. I like to know if I'm buying from a reputable person or someone who's just a p***k.

That person being reputable is a big deal!

I've gotten FAKE MAC on the internet.
It was a pretty decent quality fake, but when you pay for MAC, MAC is what you should get!

But as for clothes, make sure you get the right size and make sure you can see the ACTUAL article of clothing they are planning on sending you.

Good tips, nyo.
But I only do clothes and collectibles.
I'd never buy cosmetics from eBay...

I agree, I once had a friend who bought a DVD set from ebay and one one of the disks was missing...yeah he was mad.

As for make up, well I'm particular about that sort of thing, so I would just have to pony up the cash and buy it off line or something since I can't afford a trip to New York or the ATL.

I can't believe you don't have a MAC store, I'm so surprised.

My town is so small. We've just barely got a mall, but the MAC came with the Macy's.

But then even when MAC wasn't here San Diego's only about an hour and a half away from here...

How sad. We don't have a Macy's within the city limits at least, and none of the stores here carry it. I mean really, we couldn't even keep the Disney Store here from packing up and moving when the economy started sucking rotten eggs. But alas, it seems to be true, we have no ESPN Zone, Macy's, or MAC stores....or Waldenbooks/Borders for that matter. Now how tragic is that? crying

Man, that sucks...
Well, we have those stores, and a lot of restaurants...
They pretty much made my city a tourist attraction in these economic times,
come here instead of traveling far, far away...
So things like the Sanrio store and the awesome arcade we used to have in the mall are gone...

Well before things went down the toilet we were a tourist trap anyway, so that hasn't changed much with the exception that we are now a struggling tourist trap. And of course we mustn't forget the surplus of hotels in the downtown area alone.

Well what keeps my town afloat is the Mexicali rich crowd that like to shop in American stores.

Can I ask where you live, or like what kind of tourist-y thing you had going on?
PostPosted: Thu Feb 05, 2009 6:10 pm

Tennessee, and here we have a bunch of little festivals usually sponsored by the local newspaper and nearby businesses, AT&T and so on. During the summer there are music festivals, art festivals, AIDS runs, things for the March of Dimes, breast cancer, bike rides, movies in the park (Sponsored by an organization called Families First to promote healthy relationships and families) kite flying, canoeing, kayaking, and so on.

Like I said, a real tourist trap.

Oh that's pretty cool.

I bet during summer you can run around and talk to a lot of new people.

Oh plenty of them, of course I spend a lot of time trying to give people directions since at least half of them are from out of the country. Last year my sister and I tried to puzzle out why people from Ireland, Japan and China would waste their time coming here of all the places in the U.S to visit.

I avoid eBay like the plague. Not because I've had a bad experience, but because there's just. too. much. I get overwhelmed as soon as the home page loads!

I say go for it, though!

I love to buy clothes on Etsy. It's a site like eBay but targeted at all handmade/vintage items. It is so much fun stepping into a 50 year old dress, it adds so much fun to getting dressed when I feel like I'm wearing history!
