Since meeting Antigone, Maddie had gotten distracted from whatever flower hunting activity she had been doing at the time and eventually had found the flowers hidden in her pouch and poking around the band holding it around her neck.. much to her confusion. She could hardly remember picking them all up let alone what they were for! After managing to empty them all out of her pouch (and finding a shiny stone she forgotten putting in there so long ago), she had the dried, crinkled flowers set out before her as she tried to figure out what their significance was exactly. They were not all the same, and while she often shifted to and from ideas very quickly, she rarely ever completely forgot about one.. but she had, and it was bothering her!

Hmph. Stupid Sahale. He'd get the better of him next time.

The young cub strutted out, his chin in the air as he sulked while he walked. Sahale had managed to best him in the game they had played, and Skan was angry about that. He wanted to win! And win really badly~!

He was so upset that he abandoned everything, enough so that he got a little lost. ....oops. Mom would certainly scold him for that one. Pfft. She had wings! She could just fly the two of them ho- oh?

Who the heck was that?

Skan's eyes widened as he watched her. What a weirdo. Curiosity overtook him, though, so he trotted right up to her, staring at the pile of flowers that didn't seem to be anything, but they must be something.

Well, there were two blue ones- but they were very different shades of blue. She quickly decided that didn't matter and pushed the two blue flowers into a separate pile, and looked back at what remained. She seemed completely oblivious to the fact that there was someone small now standing beside her, puzzling over the flowers with her. There were three pinkish flowers, four if you counted the red one.. and she pushed them aside too. But even with the starting of division by colors, there was no obvious pattern. Why would she need two blue ones, four pink and one of a bunch of other ones?

"No, that's not right at all!" she said with an exasperated sigh, and she shuffled all the flowers back together. Her attention shifted to the stone momentarily, wondering if it fit into the mix somehow or not.

"If I could just remember.. maybe I'd.."

She brushed her paw over the stone idly, rolling it over in the dirt while she thought about it.

Skan watched her, puzzled. What? He didn't follow her at all. His head kept tilting from one side to the other as he watched her push the dried flowers around. Weren't they dead? What was the point of holding onto something when it was dead, especially flowers? Ugh, girls were so weird. This one here was like...textbook definition of it!

"What, are you trying to make a flower crown?" he asked, remembering that sometimes his mother would try to teach his sisters how to make one. They never had the attention span for it, mainly because it wasn't that easy to make a really good one. And though Mom was annoying, she always was really good at....everything.

"That's probably why you have so many," he clarified, pointing at the pile of flowers as she was distracted with the rock.

Maddie did not acknowledge Skan himself, but she acknowledged his suggestion, almost as if it were something going through her own mind at the time. It was somewhat reasonable, for any normal lioness perhaps. But it was still something she could addressed.

"No, that couldn't be it," she muttered, her paw stopping on the stone but her eyes moving to the flowers again, offering an explanation before looking back to her paw covering the rock, "No stems or anything.."

She sighed sadly. Maybe she just wouldn't figure it out.

Hmph. Hey! He was going to be the next awesome leader of the Ela'wadiyi! So why wasn't she even looking at him?! He wanted to demand an answer, but as she was older than him, she'd probably tell Mom. And Mom wouldn't be happy about him yelling at anyway. Sometimes he wished Mom would be more like Dad. At least he would only laugh it off, pat him on the head and send him away.

He was so, so tempted to try and steal one of her flowers when her eyes were latched onto the rock.

He lowered his belly to the ground, remembering what it was he needed to do to hunt. Keep low, watch for an opening...his green eyes were glued to the movements all around the older girl. No...no....there!

One little pale yellow paw snuck forward and swiped a flower. Success! Hah, take that Sahale! He wouldn't be the best at everything someday; Skan would!

Maddie was almost ready to give up on it all, but she gave one last lingering look to the pile of flowers. Unfortunately for Skan, she looked over just as he reached out to swipe a flower. She made no effort to stop him, but she jumped in place when she really noticed that he was there. Despite having almost spoken to him, she was still surprised to see him there. Where had the little yellow cub come from exactly? More importantly, he was taking one of the flowers..

"What are you doing?" she asked, looking at Skan with the same puzzled expression.

He still had his head close to the ground, a triumphant look on his face. That look only lasted for a moment, though, once he realized that she actually did notice. ...oops. No, that wasn't going to be good. His face sunk into a trace of worry, his ears flat against his skull. Now he was in for it.

Only, he wouldn't give up that easily!

"Trying to get your attention," he said sharply, sticking his tongue out at her. "It's like I'm talking to you, but you think I'mma ghost or something!" Hmph! AS IF. Skan was just too cool for that!

"And it worked, so I win." Ahahaha, he'd sooo rub that in Sahale's face, once he showed off his new trick. Oh yeah, he was awesome.

"Besides, you don't even know why you have your flowers, anyway."

"No no no," Maddie tried to interrupt him, but he kept explaining and she, surprisingly, did not bother talking over him. She instead listened to him- but did not really respond to how he was trying to get her attention. She would remember it, for a while, but as one of the least common ways of getting her attention it was not something she would consciously try to hold onto. Sometimes lions did weird things when she was around.

"That is unimportant," she said when he commented on her faulty memory, though she agreed, "What are you going go to do with it now? Why do you need it?" Maybe he would have some insight into what she was missing. She was very unhappy know she forgot something, she was willing to get opinions on it.

Skan stared at her. "What? Why does it matter?" Dude, he stole it from her. STOLE. And she didn't care?

Okay, this girl really was a weirdo. No need to worry about Mom scolding him anymore! He had a defense! (A really sad one at that).

He stared at her for another moment before giving her a real answer, rising to sit instead of lie.

"I'd probably crush it," he said with a playful growl. "Or give it to my sister, so she can make a flower crown." Even though she'd probably break it, knowing how they still couldn't really make them. Hmph.

"Why don't you want it back? I stole it from you," he asked blankly, though he assumed she wouldn't hear him, since she seemed to have...selective hearing.

She was completely unconcerned with the fact that he had stolen from her. He had explained himself and she was far more concerned with remember which plan exactly had had anything what so ever to do with flowers. They were all so different, it wasn't just something requiring flowers, it was something requiring specific flowers. Otherwise she would have just picked a bunch of the same flowers.

"No, that's not helpful at all," she said, getting to her feet now and looking from Skan to the flowers again. Slowly, she stood opposite the cub so the flowers were between them.. and she just stared at them.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 01, 2009 6:49 pm

Skan snorted. "Well, you're not helpful!" Ugh! He was so through with this! When he became leader...he'd...he'd make sure that everyone made sense! Cause this girl sure didn't!

It was hard for him to really view her as older and thus technically superior to him, since...she really wasn't. At least, unless she was cryptic and spoke in some off language that he didn't understand, she was crazy.

"Augh!" With cubbish frustration, he lashed his paw out at all the flowers, destroying the pile that had been there. "You don't even need your own flowers, so there!"

Yelling- one thing that always got Maddie's attention. As soon as Skan cried out and rather violently (and unexpectedly) destroyed the pile of crispy flowers, Maddie's eyes moved from the pile to the cub. She had not even considered that he might try something like that. Why, she'd even tried to include him in further speculation by making sure she was still facing him and that he could still see the flowers! He was certainly not as helpful as the brown lion had been.

"What did you do that for?" she asked, frowning, "That wasn't very nice."
PostPosted: Sun Mar 01, 2009 6:57 pm

"You don't need 'em, that's why," he said, sulking. "Besides, it's better for them to return to the ground and help make new flowers instead of wastin' 'em...on whatever it was you were going to do!" Whatever it was indeed. Skan's mind couldn't wrap around the fact that she might have wanted them later, but he never really thought outside of his own self.

"That's what my dad told me, so it must be true!" Skan was a pretty firm believer that everything Tawa'di said was the truth. He was so old and grey, he had to know everything!

Skan sighed. He knew his mother would find out somehow, though. "I can....help you...fine....newones." He mumbled at the end, hoping that she wouldn't hear it. That would mean having to spend more time with the crazy girl, something he really, really didn't want.

Maddie's overall mood was unchanged, she was not mad but she was confused- just as confused as she had been before the subject had changed from what she wanted the flowers for to why he would smash them. Figuring out their purpose was definitely going to be a lot harder without them now..

"Your father said that it was better to smash the flowers than let me use them?" she asked, not sounding convinced at all and making a bit of sense for once, "If I can't remember what my plan was, we'll never know what was better. And I don't need new ones until I remember."

She looked around thoughtfully.
