The hunt was successful, very successful. As food was distributed, Sewelo nabbed the tenderest bit of the gazelle he had helped bring down. His Daddy took care of his Momma, but Sewelo was going for his little family.
Head up, the proud male high trotted towards his den. He worked hard with his mother to protect the pride, and with his uncle Jethro, but there was one place he'd give his claws to be, his den. The birth of his two daughters was the most amazing day of his life, they were so beautiful. As far as he saw, they looked so much like him, he completely missed that there was no way in the world that they could be his.
Playfully, he moved high on his toes 'sneaking towards the den, peaking around the corner as if the meat didn't scream there was something very nice there.

Unfortunately for poor Sewelo, surprising Jua was nigh impossible. She'd seen her daddy coming long before he'd even finished the hunt, and was eagerly waiting at the entrance to the den. Upon seeing the rather large slab of meat, seemingly dangling in thin air from the angle Sewelo was standing at, the young leotah grinned and quickly darted over to playfully bat at her daddy's ankles.
"I knew you'd come home soon!"

Watching his daughter appear, the proud father smiled through his hold. The smile was grizzly looking to some, blood on his mouth and fangs, but the meaning was nothing but good.
Hearing her response, he didn't look too deeply into it, well because he never did. Placing the meal on a relatively clean rock near the den, he put his clean nose down to his daughter's level and gave her a nuzzle, playfully nudging her side. "I'll always be home as soon as I can no den I'd rather be." He still loved his mother and family, but his new family was his priority. "How is my little angel?" Both girls had nicknames like that; both equal in his eyes, this father had no favorites.

"I'm good. Mommy's taking a nap with Isako," Jua said, nuzzling her daddy back before sitting down in front of him. The little girl had been nothing but sweet and loving since her birth, and had truly earned the nickname her father had given her. The sight of Sewelo, gripping the meat with a blood-spattered muzzle, hadn't disturbed her in the least. "Did Daddy have fun?"

Tiifu deserved the nap, and with Isako sleeping as well that meant it was just him and Jua. That was fine with him, he adored one on one time. His adorable little Jua always seemed to just get cuter, looking at her the proud father just grinned proudly.
"Sounds like it'll just be me and you to find trouble." He never meant trouble in the traditional sense, more like little games between themselves. Hunting was a good idea that might be a fun game.
"I did, Jua, I was hunting with my Daddy." That was a blast, getting caught up with this father and bonding more. As the days had passed since he got home, it was beginning to feel like he had never left as he got caught up with his family and settling with his new family.

"Can we go play on the beach today, Daddy?" Jua asked, kneading the ground eagerly. Sewelo had promised to take her to the beach when she was bigger, and she hoped she was big enough to go now.

All in good fun, he picked up his paw and had it just over Jua's head. "I donno, you have to be this tall to go to the beach." For a while longer, he joked around about being serious about the little bit of a height requirement.
Unable to resist for much longer, the father finally said, "Alright, we can go. Remember the rules, no going into the water when there are no adults there watching you, even when they are, not farther than above your paws. As grandma says, respect the Ocean, She'll take you with her far before your time if you don't." He had grown to accept his mother's way of talking about the Ocean as if it were a woman. That was the place where lions went when they died, a good place but not for the living.

"Aw, come on Daddy!" Jua whined, pouting and pushing up on her hind legs in an attempt to brush her head to her father's paw. She knew he was joking, but she always loved joking back. And when Sewelo finally gave in, she jumped up joyfully and hopped around in a little circle.
"Yay! I'll be good Daddy, I promise!"

Sewelo was sure if Jua knew how powerful that whine and pout was, his will would be completely crippled. So long as he felt that he had that, he'd be safe. Smiling to her, he told her, "Alright!" Giving her side a little nudge, he turned and started toward the blue ocean. He had a respect for it because he had lived near it his whole life, playing and always hearing his mother's warnings.
Moving a little quicker, he enjoyed the feeling of his paws sinking in the sand, moving between his splayed toes. Warmth of the sand on his paws, it put him in even higher spirit.

With a happy grin, Jua eagerly trotted after her father, marveling at the feel of her paws sinking in the sand. It was so different from walking in the grass! And when the ocean finally came into view, her eyes widened and she eagerly loped forward.

There were things you didn't want to miss, every moment of your cub's life summed up most of them. Watching, he observed the moment she saw the ocean that had always been right out of view and now before her paws.
Giving her a little grin, the big cat stepped on light toes to the ocean. Cool salty water lapped at his paw, soaking the black fur that it touched. Taking a paw, he dug into the sand so the water could collect. At that moment, that instant before the hole was filled in, he cupped the water and turned to splash Jua, "Jua, meet the Ocean, Ocean meet Jua." That large smile didn't go away; one good natured action deserves another.
