I'm doing everything for this wedding by hand, except for the dresses (thank God, since I can't sew for beans), and I really need help with planning. Since I'm doing it myself, I don't have any sort of wedding planner whatsoever. I don't even have a caterer for the reception other than the people at my church. Thankfully the UMW (United Methodist Women) are willing to help out. I really love those ladies. whee
So, I'd be forever in your debt if you guys would help me out. heart
Current need: What songs other than Butterfly Kisses are there to dance with your dad to? I'm no girly girl... if that helps any. ninja
I don't really know much about music, much less dancing music. I don't really dance. My fiance are currently trying to learn how to swing dance, but I think right now I know more than him. But that's beside the point. What music could I play that others can dance to, since I won't be dancing to the normal stuff anyways. I prefer techno and that kind of stuff. Dances that use glowsticks. whee I've got a really awesome DJ already, so maybe he can help me out, but I thought I might ask for suggestions anyways. (He said bad news... but didn't tell me what yet. crying )
Thoughts for other plans:
I'd like to do a live web cast of the wedding so all my gaian friends can attend my wedding without leaving their homes. Of course this entire guild will be invited too. heart
The reception isn't going to be a full meal, just a snack food type meal. Mini sausages, fancy dip, nuts, cookies... that kind of thing. If you've got any other suggestions, lemme know.
Past Needs:
I need help with wedding invitations. I'm making my own, since we can't afford to have a company do them and I'm a multimedia major, so it's my job to do that kind of stuff. xd So... what do they usually say? Invitations just about ready! I'm also making a Gaia counterpart! xd You're all invited!

My brothers invitation said
Mr. and Mrs. John Robinson request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter (smaller)
Amanda stupidbitch Robinson (bigger)
to (smaller)
Isaac James Andrews (bigger)
(smaller) Then the date it was all written out. "Saturday, whatever day of June, two thousand and four at four o'clock in the afternoon"
The address where it will be
And something about the reception.
Oh and you could include a smaller envelope with a response card so you can get people to respond and let you know they'll be attending or they won't so you won't cook too much food or too little.
I think a live web cast would be cool. Maybe record it too? That way you can make a DVD of it. Along with the reception if anyone's taking pictures or video footage of it. Put it all together and put it in your wedding album.

My uncle and cousin are taking care of the whole video thing, and they're really knowledgeable, so I think they'll be able to do that kind of thing for me. whee At least that's what I hope. 4laugh
That's an odd way to write out a date... and I'd never thought of putting my parents in there.
Thanks for the advice. whee *makes notes*
((I take it you don't like your sister-in-law. xd ))

She's not my sister in law anymore.
Yeah, it is odd. But more elegant maybe?
I'd want video of my wedding ... if I actually had a big fancy one instead of eloping.

Japi We're not allowed to elope. xd Elegant sounds about right. 3nodding We were told we couldn't. But we did anyways. Kept it from everyone for a few months. lol My parents were so pissed. But we are going to have a ceremony probably for our 7th anniversary.

My mom's parents tried to pay her and my dad to elope because my grandma didn't believe their marriage would last. xd Now they said if they ever got a divorce, they'd be keeping my dad instead of my mom. xp (Not that they'd ever divorce.)
But that sounds like fun, being sneaky like that. whee

*nod* The wording that Lee posted is probably the best wording out there really. Well... more universal. Though theknot.com has some other variations of wording, depending on who is hosting/paying for the wedding and what-not.
Hehehee, hubby-to-be and I are probably going to get married in Canada at one of those nifty chapel things. Either there or Vegas, and we're inviting our entire family with us 3nodding

The Knot is one of the best one's that I've found out there. 3nodding Off beat bride is pretty good too for the more non-traditional.
Hehehe yeah, it's going to either be Vegas or Toronto. We're not sure yet, it depends on how much the Toronto ones are.

I'm kinda going back and forth about the non-traditional and traditional stuff. I really just want whatever is simplest and cheapest, so we can focus more on the celebrating with family and friends and less on how we're going to pay for it all.
That's the biggest reason we're doing it all at home. Low cost. rolleyes

We like that idea. Oh, and that includes everything. Flowers, music, pictures, minister person, souvenirs, and whatever else you can think of.

That's not too bad. But it's still more than my family could afford. sweatdrop We'll be really pushing it to get a four digit figure for the wedding fund. xd

Actually... as far as music goes. I was gonna hire some of my orchestra buddies, but they ended being busy during my summerish wedding. We ended up just putting in a cd. xD But there wasn't any dancing. It was just like in a garden and people talked and walked around. Very low maintance, besides putting together all the flowers.

There's always the option of using a CD or mp3 player with all your favorite song (that way none get played you hate) and you can just ask someone to be in charge of it. It seems like a good option as well as inexpensive.
