Turning from the main den after watching the alpha display his wrath she headed upwards towards her own den, not far from the main den though enough so she could reside there with a little more privacy. With now a general knowledge of the number of pack members and rumours of there place and responsibility within the pack and also having walking the pack lands she felt she knew enough to go on for now. Sleep beckoned her, well what she referred to as 'sleep', she was a light sleeper and never really, truly switched off, even with Damon watching over her.

She did not hasten her step, she made her way in her usual sultry grace, weaving her path up though the rock face. She wondered how long it would be until Damon returned to her, it was pointless for him to pursue the trail of the run away wolf for long, with the alpha and Liriel already on the trail, more in time would no doubt join it, he was not needed. News would return of what became of the wolf and if she had managed to escape and gain support from else where, that would be where she would come into play, brute force was not always the answer.

Flicking her head to one side, the gesture slight and near unnoticeable, she tried to clear it of all her musings and plans, she needed to empty it in an attempt to rest. Reaching her den she circled about to standing in the mouth of the cave and look out over the surrounding area, searching for Damon. A glimmer flickered through her eyes, weariness mixed with annoyance, she gently lowered herself to the ground, though she did not rest her head upon her forepaws to sleep, she kept her head raised and her eyes open.

Tired paws padded over the hard ground, weary muscled stretched and bunched under dusty fur. Long legs moved smoothly despite the aching weariness that felt like lead weight within him. It had been a hard chase, and a disappointing one, unable to get as close as he wished or wanted, to have been of any use. Eventually he had slowed, knowing that he had to go back.. return to his mistress..

Ice blue eyes had lifted, scanning the view before turning and retracing his tracks, loping for mile after mile, long, powerful stride eating up the distance until he came upon the heart of the pack's territory. Skirting round the main area to avoid running into another member of the pack, the shadowy male followed a hidden trail up the rock face, slowing to a walk as he hopped from one foot-hold to another, climbing up to where he knew his mistress, Moghedien, was waiting for him.

Slipping round the last pillar of rock he spotted the silver-furred female, padding quietly over the last stretch of rock to where she lay waiting for him

As she looked down over the steep decline from the entrance of the den she spotted Damon emerging from the undergrowth. She caught his scent a long time ago on the wind but she always felt a strange reassurance upon visually seeing the huge wolf. She did not watch him as he began the climb, instead she rested her head down onto forepaws, the necklace producing a small click as it came into contact with the rock beneath her.

Moments later Damon approached her and their den. She did not look him she merely closed her eyes knowing that he was here, but she would not find sleep. How long had it been since she'd really enjoyed the company of another, just for the pleasure of the companionship, the warmth, too long but now it did not matter. Reputed for being icy, cruel and self indulged she had buried the shattered remains of the gentle, loving wolf she had once been.

Nearly half the size of Damon, when standing her head would only just boarder his shoulders, she was tiny and had a sleek built also. Laying in the mouth of the cave she looked like a fragile creature but stunningly beautiful.

Large furred ears flicked forwards then back before the massive hulking wolf took one last step forwards, lowering his head to touch the tip of his nose to pale fur. A long slow breath, drawing in her scent and holding it for a moment, as if to assure himself she was there, pressent and safe under the shadow of his bulk.

After a moment the dark male slipped round, shadowed fur blending with the darkness of the rocks about them, a heartbeat later his solid warm slid along her side, settling against her. Nearly encircling her sleek, fragile frame. The cold touch of wet nose against her cheek, as familiar as the solid musk of the large male.

She did not lift her head as Damon curled about her, nor did she nuzzle into him as he placed his nose to her cheek, the relationship between them was not like that. No, their bond was one of function and duty and what kept them together was a respect for a great male's wishes, her fathers.

Icy eyes stared out at nothing as her mind rolled over all the activities that had been going on recently and then she came back to herself and rather in the usual icy voice she addressed her current pack mates, she used a tone that was solely reserved for Damon and the respect she held for him, one of familiarity and comfort, 'What can you tell me then?'

She had never forgiven herself for not listening to his advise in the past, for it had never been flawed even right up to her down fall and he stood by her still. The solidarity of their relationship gave her strength even when she didn't deserve it.

"Very little, m'lady." Came his voice softly, speaking in the calm tone that was so common for him. He went silent for a moment as he made sure that the femme he was pressed against was more comfortable. His eyes slid shut as he tried to figure out the best way to state what had happened, as he didn't wish to upset her at all.

"I chased the tail of the runt for eons. He tried several times to stay in packs, but each time he caught my scent, he ran off before I could catch him. Such a difference from what he once was." He was speaking, of course, of a former pack member who had run with his tail between his legs.

"There was a pack up north that I chased him down to, but I was.. not welcomed by the guards there. The Alpha would hear nothing of what I tried to say, and I was given no further information."

His maw seemed to form a slight frown, rather frusterated with himself that he could not get more information for the one who relied on what he did so much.

Moghedien felt Damon tense slightly next to her, signalling his frustration, he never liked failing her and that's he was invaluable to her. He wasn't speaking of Selene, no, memory came to her of Feros the red and black pup she had first met in the shadows. There was no great lose there, she had felt a weakness in him and she was not surprised of his leaving the pack. Evidently it hadn't bothered the alpha all that much as he'd not mentioned it to her during their conversations.

Moghedien reassured her advisor, 'Do not worry Damon. Selene is the one I need to find. Though I have my suspicions that Tomkin has something to do with her disappearance. Our alpha, however, is sending Rumor off to Tomkin next, so I can't follow it up.' There was a suggestion in her words, she wanted Damon to stalk Rumor and see what she learnt, rather that just the rumours of what happened once she returned. Damon was also analytical and she trusted him to spot things she had perhaps missed.

Plus from her knowledge Rumor was the pup of the alpha pair of Gomorrah, who had been given to the Reign as a tribute. Her alpha had spoken of the female fondly, stating she was destined for future greatness. She would not be out done by this female and did not wish to hear the alpha speak so fondly of her again. Moghedien would now be tied up with meeting all of Liriel's pups and trying her best to avoid the mother, not yet ready for a confrontation. She would trust Damon to follow up her suspicions on Tomkin and to keep an eye on Rumor.

Damon was no fool. After all of their years together, he was able to pick up what she felt without her saying it. "Selene." He stated softly, doing what he could to remember what he could about the femme. He nodded his head after a moment, dark eyes glowing once they snapped open.

"I will follow her, M'lady. And do everything possible to make sure things are handled correctly." He, of course, would shadow Rumor and not her catch on.. Unless he was told to do otherwise.

He lived to advise and take care of Moghedien, not another pack member of the pack they had joined. "Do you know when it is that she is leaving?" Damon would prefer a little time to rest and keep an eye on Mog, but he was sure that the Alpha would not let anything happen to his mistress.

He had mixed feelings about the Alpha. He was no doubt a very strong, powerful leader. But he did wish that he would take Mog as his mate. She would be even safer, and that was what truely mattered to him.

"Have you been all right here?"

Moghedien lay as she was, refraining from the comfort of placing all her weight back upon Damon whom had curled himself about her. Their next course of action not clear, little words passing between them having to explain, but they knew each other well and Damon was good at his work, no explanation was needed. At his next question her eyes narrowed slightly and her voice held a hint of ice to then, ‘since when did we discuss such matters?’

Her eyes widened again and she sighed deeply, all these outward displays of emotions she did not allow for anyone else but Damon to see and because of this she realised it was only Damon with whom she could discuss such matters with. She knew it was not good carrying all her emotions and worries with her and so she apologised to her old friend. ‘I am sorry Damon, I am tired. her words held a double meaning, one she believed would not escape him. ‘I do not know why I am driving so hard for a position beside him. I think maybe because I believe it the best place to be and one I am use to, but I do not think I have any feelings for him. I don’t know him enough for that I suppose but then I do not think it is a good idea to give away ones heart.’

She closed her eyes, her head still upon her forepaws, and the soft blue glow of her pendant casting its light upon her throat. She did not believe she was mistaken in thinking the Alpha had marked her as one of his favourites but she could not fathom as to why he wasn’t taking a mate. She, out of all the other females in the pack had given far more than double than any of the others and had proved her loyalty to him as well as the pack, what was he waiting for?

A small sigh left him when he heard the ice that surrounded her words. He had not not meant to upset the femme, though he did need to make sure that she was taking care of herself.

Of course, he understood what she meant by tired, and concern rose in him. It was his job to protect this female, he did not wish her to have any emotional harm. He listened silently to his words, tossing them back and forth in his mind and debating if he had any right to say anything.

He had known Mog for a very long time, seeing her so upset was not something he enjoyed. It made him feel like he was not doing his job correctly. But it wasn't as though he had any control over the situation. He could only be a ear for her to use as she needed, and the strength that would keep anyone from harming her physically.

Damon knew he needed to be careful. He had boundries that he was not to overstep under any circumstance.

"M'lady.. If you believe that it is the best place to be, then one can only admire your dedication to such a thing." He could not comment on feelings, or love. He very much wanted his mistress to have this, to feel positive emotions instead of negative ones. Then he would feel more successful.

"I am sure that soon he will need an heir, so perhaps he will take you by his side then?"

'Perhaps.' She stated simply allowed a few moments to past, her thoughts floating over various issues before she returned to the 'here and now'. She did not know why Damon stayed with her sometimes, her father had died many a year ago now, when she was still a teen. She had took the position of alpha at a tender age. She admired his foolish level of loyalty to both her and her father and secretly she admitted that she would be lost without her guardian, always there, always looking after her. What sort of life must he have? He was just slightly older than her father, she had often wondered if the male had had a mate years ago, a family but something always kept her from asking, from truly befriending the male.

Slowly she rose with grace, even in her weary state and she looked down at him, the only time when the petite wolf could, a gentle smile played upon her maw but never blossomed and she turned her back on him without a word and entered into the darkness of their den to sleep.
