A lone otter padded silently through the reserve, green eyes bright on the lands around her with the careful watch of a seasoned adventurer. For any familiar with her three things would be noted straight away: her silence, her thoughtfulness, and that she was completely alone.
Relm Arrowny checked the nearby bushes with a sniff and continued on. She had left Interceptor to watch the perma pups for a while so that her son did not need to feel bound to do so. Not that he often did... but Relm liked to give Xavier what freedom she could. Though her Nobody son said nothing from her own experience Relm could tell he was lonely and from her own experience with that emotion it saddened the pictomancer though she knew it could not be rushed.
To her mate Relm had told most of the truth: that she needed to go out alone to clear her head a bit. It was so silly, fretting about the past so like she was. Relm really did not want to bring back up the unpleasantness that was bothering her with Roxas. He had been so utterly, wonderfully supportive of her that day when she had really been in the wrong. His gentle comfort and show of support had cemented her crush on him, perhaps placed the first warm tendrils of love upon her heart. It was hard to say.
The thing was... Relm had meant to apologize ages ago. She had told Morgana and Abel she would that day, just on another time. A more opportune time. But one had never arrived. Their paths had never crossed.
So now she hunted, adventuring towards the other otter's range. Relm had caught the barely familiar scent of the other female some ways back and followed it until the area it touched was saturating with it. In a way Relm was surprised she remembered the scent at all. Theirs had actually been a rather short encounter, with lots of other otters around.
It was probably the guilt that kept the scent & the memory strong. It was just supposed to be fun... The winged otter thought in old frustration with herself.

Even though the day was cold, there wasn't that much snow on the ground and the ice over the river wasn't too thick that one couldn't go fishing for any fish that had stuck around during the winter months. It was generally peaceful and quiet and for once, Elizabeth was thankful for it.
The large otter was lounging on a snow free patch of dried grass, feathery tail flicking up and down in the air, sandy brown hair partially covering her closed eyes, and she had her boots off since they were still wet and cold from having swam in the water to catch a fish for herself.
She was still adjusting to being what they called an Elder, having always associated that class of otters with Morgana since she was always the wisest and most patient one in the family. She smiled happily as she thought of her 'sister', having her second set of clams with a male they actually knew this time, though there were whispers Ketsu was the father of the first group. And her lovely granddaughter was having pups of her own with one of Akira's sons, which made her....a great grandmother!
She groaned softly at that thought, slowly sitting up and stretching, letting her long tail lift up straight into the air before dropping back down and she went to inspect her boots.

She continued to sniff. Even with the cold snow Relm could tell the scent was warmer, fresher. Even to her nose, which was not as efficient as her protector wolf's. Relm followed the scent, keeping to the shore rather than the icy river.
A large form ahead made her pause. From this distance... no. If Relm was sure of anything it was her vision. That otter was too big. But... she had the right clothes... wait, Elizabeth had not had hair like that!
Then it sunk in: Elder.
The artist frowned, deliberating. This posed a... quandary of sorts. It certainly was a dampener to Relm. Not that she was jealous -Relm had no interest in being an elder herself- but that it gave more chance for her to be called a child. All her careful preparation would be undone if she got upset over that.
She simply would have to be better than that then.
With typical Relm gumption the angelic squared her shoulders and padded closer to the elder. Is she looking at her SHOES? I wonder why? "Hello." Relm greeted conversationally.

Her boots didn't feel wet, but still a little cold. Well, she figured if she moved around, she wouldn't notice it too much, especially with having her winter fur. She had slipped one boot on when she heard someone call out a greeting to her. She blinked, not really recognizing the voice right away, so this caused her rounded ears to flick and she looked about to make sure it wasn't a dangerous otter since there seemed to be so many as of late.
Once she finally saw the female angelic, she calmed down and worked on putting her other boot on properly and then fully gave turned to see who she was.
At first she really didn't recognize her at all, having seen many angelics around the reserve as of late (and she was giddily awaiting the day Morgy's clams would open and the pups would come out!) so seeing this angelic didn't phase her.
She was about to greet her but then as she got a better look at her, she finally did recognize her and a very subtle change came over her. She gave a smile, but it wasn't friendly, nor was threatening or meant ill intent. It was there for manners sake, but there was a slightly wary look in her brown eyes.
Oh yes, she remembered this female very well and though she didn't think about that part of her past all that much, she could feel the feelings of anger and her privacy being put out for everyone to see came rushing back.
"Hello." she greeted back, sitting down and curling her tail around her paws.

Green eyes studied the elder beneath light brown curls. At least she was not going to be attacked, that was a good sign. Maybe. Relm was quite apt at reading others -though she usually used it to annoy them, if they were not Roxas and Interceptor.
The artist did not miss the shift. Saw the fake smile, the hint of distrust. Relm tried not to let it irk her. She was the one that had come, after all.
"Can't say I'm surprised you're not thrilled to see me." Relm said lightly with a small laugh, sitting carefully away. Her green eyes missed nothing but she was trying to keep this casual. "I guess I should do the boring thing and cut to the chase?"
Yes... probably best to go with boring. Last time Relm had tried to entertain herself around this female was why she was in this ridiculous predicament to begin with. Imagine! Apologizing! Relm could hardly believe it herself.

Elizabeth looked down at the female when she sat down at a distance and for a moment, she couldn't help but feel....superior, being physically bigger then the female this time instead of equal size. But she quickly pushed that thought away because she was now as big as Hector and that seemed to bother him for some reason.
Getting rid of those thoughts, she didn't change her expression, though the smile did disappear and the feathery part of her tail flicked against the ground, "Yes, I suppose you should." she said, her voice neutral.

Actually.... Relm had already been smaller than the other female before -if one did not take into account her wings. Relm was perpetually small. Childlike. Her son was bigger than she was -discounting the wings again.
Relm was fairly accustomed to boldly (and sometimes foolishly) facing down opponents many times her size. It was to be expected.
But it was also why she hated being called a child.
The inner squirming did not show on her face. This was not Roxas, with whom the pictomancer was free with her feelings. "I was... unfair the last time we spoke." Not 'met' for there had been a time their pups met when quite young. Xavier did not like to be reminded of it. Relm had kept away from the other family. Relm had not seen Elizabeth then but neither had she looked for her.
"Afterward I didn't think it was an appropriate time to apologize." Now the impish smile flicked in -permitted by the little actress. Unlike Elizabeth though she knew manners when she showed them they were seldom manners for the sake of manners. That just was not how Relm had grown up. Manners were just another way to reach an end. "I didn't mean to hurt you, if I did."
Hurt, no. Get a good reaction out of, yes. But never did Relm actually intend to cause pain with her sharp tongue. It did happen though. Frequently. Her jabs were not often kind, no matter in how much fun she meant them.

She was quiet the entire time, her face still neutral and not changing, her tail idly flicking up and down. She heard the sincerety, but she had to wonder just why Elizabeth was so upset with her that day.
"I wasn't exactly....hurt. Back then, there was a reason I did not want Hector to know my feelings because at the time I still wasn't sure of my own and second, I still considered him my rival for territory and food. I didn't....appreciate someone annoucing it to the world when I wasn't ready to let him know. I am sure you wouldn't appreciate it if someone decided to announce your own private affairs to the world without your consent."
She turned her head a little to look off into the distance where her den was hidden, "But I never held a grudge, I really didn't have the time. I had pups to raise, grandpups to look after and I am soon to be a great-grandmother. Another in my family just had her second set of pups, but winter is hard because there isn't as much food and that isn't good for a mother of three."
She then turned her head to look down at Relm and finally gave a small, sincere, "But thank you, I do appreciate that you came to me to apoligize and I do accept your apology." she said, bowing her head.

For once Relm was silent as she listened to the other speak, though her thoughts were less so. She had never once thought of how someone might feel beyond the entertainment she gained when she spoke out what was to her, obvious. It simply had not occurred to her the underlying ramifications though in essence Relm was a deft judge of people. On top of that Elizabeth stunned her, twice over even so.
First, that the apology was actually accepted, second that Elizabeth was going to be a great-grandmother. The later being the easiest to respond. The winged otter seemed to sink, hard. The pictomancer's green eyes were wide and locked on the elder. "S***. Great-Grandmother already? D***... maybe I should've been nudging Xavier more when he mentioned meeting some girls..."
Relm was slowly shaking her head in disbelief. She had actually been considering bringing up the notion of more pups to Roxas recently, but the thought of their pups having mates or pups much less those pups having either had not crossed her mind at all. Now she wondered... maybe she was somehow holding Cid & Xavie back? Her son from his stories did not seem much overly interested in either female he met... was he too cold to find love? Was this somehow her fault? Relm's tail swayed to curl around her.

Elizabeth wasn't all that phased when Relm seemed utterly surprised at the notion that pups could have pups of their own or grandpups could be parents. But she did arch her eyebrow when she cursed, still a proper lady in some respects. But she didn't say anything, but just nodded her head, "Yes, I was quite surprised myself when the news was brought to us all, but that just means me and Hectors line will continue to grow stronger. As well as Morgana's line, especially since she finally has a mate!" she said, rolling her eyes over the first time Morgana came back home, pregnant and refusing to say who the father was.

It was not that she was surprised grandpups could have pups -that was rather 'duh' to the 'in everyone's business' artist-mage who had grown up way too soon beyond her years quite some time ago- but that someone who had become a mother at the same time she did had grandpups that were having pups.
It actually would have been easier to hear about Morgana, whom the pictomancer was accustomed to thinking about as being older than she was.
Elizabeth was just lucky Relm was not cussing more. She had actually gotten out of the habit since meeting Roxas and usually being around 'their' perma pups. The age old habit she had picked up while a mouthy know-it-all pup herself still remained, only showing itself at times like these when her mate was not around.
She caught the eye-roll though and wondered at that. Of course having to ask. "What's the deal with Morgana finding a mate? Sounds normal as fish in the river."

Elizabeth shook her head, "It's not as simple as you say it is. A few months ago, Morgana disappeared from the den for a while, which is normal for anyone in my family. If we want some time away from everyone, we will go off on our own if we feel we are safe." She sighed and rubbed her head with a paw.
"Well, when she did come home, she was bigger then before and I knew right away she was pregnant. The only thing is we don't know who she mated with and she still refuses to this day to tell anyone who the father is. But now she has an actually mate, someone to help her protect her pups so she doesn't have to do it all alone." she explained.

Okay. That made Relm sit up and take notice. The pictomancer actually gaped. Stunned, that the angel elder Morgana had done something so... so... well seemingly out of character for sure. That the bloody female had found a mate and had pups was like learning water ran downhill -it was rather 'duh' to Relm and fit in perfectly with her impression of Morgana.
That she 'snuck' off and got herself pregnant much less would not tell the father was like watching Edgar not flirt with a female.
"okay... at least makes since why you were all weird about her finding a mate." Of course now Relm was pretty lost on how to think about the situation herself at the moment. "Objectively... kinda would've expected her to be mated with kids before either of us. She struck me as the naturally motherly type."
Unspoken though it hung in the air how neither she nor the pirate king were mothering personalities. A bit more hidden -though the little actress did not bother hiding it fully as she once might have- her awe and wonder and happiness in her mate's affection and their pups.

"Well, I always thought Morgana would have children before me, she has the heart of a mother. That is why I was so amazed when she came home, pregnant with pups and with no mate in sight, I always thought she would find an otter for herself before having pups." she shook her head, "Well, stranger things have happened, I am just glad she has someone to protect her this time..." she said, feeling both angry and sad for her 'sister' and all the unfortune that happened to her for a while.

The pictomancer jerked her head sharply towards Elizabeth, her gaze having wondered off while her thoughts drifted. "What happened?" Relm demanded, unmitigated worry for the elder who had been politely stern with her when Relm had not deserved such kindness made her voice harsher than the actress would have had it on her own. "Something happened when she was unprotected?"
