Ears flat, the blue cheetah moved through the grass very irritated. A hungry cheetah was not a happy one and by now, he’d settle for a rabbit if it would give him something to eat. The fantastic hunter had gone three days without food, that was a threat for his title. There had to be something moveing, something living that he could end that and fix his status as best hunter.
~~~
Flexing her limbs, Tuta stretched and shook herself till the restlessness went away. It was an ever present companion, just as her blind lioness was. Of course, ones companions didn't normally conflict with each other... It was because she stayed with Asatira that she felt this terrible restlessness, like everything around her was moving on while she stood still, waiting.
Well, at this moment, that was indeed the case. She was, after all, standing still to get a good sniff of the wind. Putting away those thoughts that so distracted her, she lifted her nose and breathed deeply, getting a feel for the place and what was around her. Part of her hoped for prey, since she never seemed to catch enough to fill her belly, and part of her hoped for nothing at all, so she felt safe enough to go and rest with Asa from the heat of the day.
A feral grin, hunger chipping away at his charming exterior, the male didn’t even bother to confirm what he was going after. Shifting his paws, Ryuu burst forward, not even bothering to growl until he was nothing more than six feet away. For three feet more, he knew she wasn’t a prey beast, his hunger got in the way of his brain and he honestly debated if he should try to do the kill before sanity forced him to veer to the right in order to avoid an collision.
~~~
The pounding of paws on the packed dirt was the only warning Tuta got before blue flashed before her eyes and she jumped back, instincts kicking in to avoid the two bodies colliding, most likely painfully.
"Hey!" She shouted as she backed to a safe distance, frowning as her lips pulled back from her teeth in warning. The form that had barely missed her appeared to be that of a cheetah and she snorted at the dust he'd raised as he went by. "Watch where you're going..." She grumbled, more to herself.

The snarling brought about his own response, he bared his own teeth. “You looked like a zebra, funny looking one at that.” Charm was beaten out by the hunger. Tail twitching, he sought a use for this, using that much energy for nothing could not be allowed. What to do, starting at her like he wanted to eat her was hardly helpful, but it was all that was coming to him right now.
Strike of genius, and primal rudeness, “You help me hunt, I get out of your hair and you get whats left.” Somewhere along the line the question got dropped.
~~~
Tuta snorted at his absurd response.
"I looked like a zebra? If I did, then you're blind as a bat." She grumbled. All black as she was, with a few spots of green, she hardly resembled a zebra of all things. "And why should I help you hunt?" The maned wolf was feeling irritable after having this cheetah all, but barrel her over, and despite the rumbling her belly, she was un-inclined to do anything for him that made his life easier. "I could catch something just as well on my own."
Half turning away from him, the black female watched him from the corner of her eye, just incase he tried something else stupid.
Twitching his tail a few more moment, he grumpily responded, “Black and white, the pattern hardly mattered.” She was still looking tasty, too bad she was female. It was harder to attack a female even if he was very hungry.
He had reasons for her, “You could catch your own, and I can take that, less work. However, in an attempt to be polite, I was offering to help. Otherwise, I will continue to allow you to enjoy my charming personality without food.” Eyes narrowing, the pain in his gut liked to transfer and make him a pain, but whatever works.
~~~
Green eyes narrowed as she glared at him, wondering what she'd done to get such an annoying companion. She'd just been standing there when he'd decided to crash her little world. Well, it seemed she had some not-so-great choices to make. None of them seemed to really appeal to her. She did need to get back to Asatira soon though, so perhaps it would be best to play his little game for now and maybe get rid of him sooner so she could go on with her life.
"Fine. Help me catch something and we'll share it. Any ideas where to start, Hot shot?" She growled, realizing she didn't know his name, but also that she didn't really care to. One less complication, as far as she cared.

Some rationality brakes through the clouds and the female was going to cooperate with him. He also had a plan, “Little Miss, there is a mean old gazelle who is used to me. I am going to chase him over the small grassy hill and you will bite his ankles or how ever hunting works for you, over the hill I go and down he goes. “ It would show that rude scar butt, most of those scars coming from him but that was hardly the point, he was hungry and had been attempting to earn that meal for a while.
~~~
The female frowned as she thought about this. It wasn't a great idea by any means. First off, if it was mean and knew him, it must have escaped him a couple times before. A fit and agile gazelle made for tough hunting... and dangerous, since those delicate little hooves could cut through fur and skin if they connected.
Long ears flicking to him and back as she thought it over, wondering how this would benefit them. Well, if anything, she could sneak away while he was busy with the gazelle, and who knew? Maybe they'd actually catch it and she'd get her meal out of it...
"Lead the way then, Hot Shot." She grumbled, her head slung low as she padded towards him, her tail swaying behind her.
Scar butt would get whats coming to him; Ryuu had never met anyone who didn’t want gazelle. Watching her body language, this would be a short partnership. That fit him, first impressions were awful but he was too hungry to care.
Twitching his strong blue tail, he was determined to get his share of the kill, what she did after it was made never mattered, guilt would set in after the full stomach. Nodding to her, he turned and padded towards the ride in the distance. After getting her set in place it wouldn’t take much to find scar butt, he was probably still laughing at his last charge. "This way, Little Miss. The hill is right up there."
~~~
Tuta grumbled in her own head as she padded after him warily, not quite ready to trust him. After all... he could be leading her into a trap. Now that she thought about it, the more likely it seemed. Another could be waiting for her just out of sight, ready to spring and take her down... predators didn't usually eat each other, but they did kill to keep down competition.
Preparing herself for anything, the maned wolf stepped over the ridge and followed the stranger down the other side, wondering who he was and just what his problem was... she hadn't met really any others that acted like he did. Her eyes slid from side to side, keeping a careful watch so no one could creep up on her from behind.

She was right, he was leading her into a trap, but it was a trap for scar butt. If he wanted to eat her, he would have actually attacked her beforehand. Feeling like he had the upper paw, should she run off or betray him he was confident that he could catch her and make her pay for it. What was the worry, either way he’d get his flesh.
When she was on the right side of the ridge, he told her, “Wait here, Little Miss, Scar Butt will be on the way.” Turning, he moved up the hill, his blue to white hair swaying like the fire fitting a dragon in his mood. Over the edge of the ridge, he continued to walk; Scar Butt wouldn’t run from him.
Just as he predicted, the battle scarred gazelle was munching away at the grass. One could hardly tell the back of him wasn’t meant to be pink and hairless from scars. Lowering his head, he trotted around the bored looking beast. The other side of the creature, he saw its tail wagging in distress. He knew better, it was mocking. Growling viciously, he charged and the Gazelle ran, right to where he wanted it to go.
~~~
Little miss... that name was getting annoying. He wasn't -that- much larger than she was... Grumbling, she took up the place he indicated, standing lightly on her paws.
'Well, here it comes.' she thought. He'll disappear around the hill and then charge out with a companion or two to take her down. At least she was ready for it. They'd think twice about messing with her. Tuta's fangs bared themselves as she growled softly, huffing through her nose. She'd give that snotty cheetah the rough side of her teeth, she would.
In this frame of mind, she was taken utterly by surprise when a heavily scarred zebra broke over the hill and charged her, her eyes flying wide as she yelped and jumped back. Just in time, she remembered what she was supposed to be doing and leapt at it as it came close to her. Her jaws snapped shut on the soft nose and she clung for dear life, dragging its head down as her back legs kicked at its chest in distraction. She hoped the Dance had steps that led that daft cheetah to her, or those hooves that flashed in the dirt below would make short work of the slender maned wolf.
The burst of speed died quickly, nothing to feed the muscle, it pained his poor back legs. The meal would be enough to hold him over while he hid away. Sore legs would make running out of the question. It was a shame; her surprise would have been funny to watch.
Even at the trot, he got over to see scar butt furious, grabbed by the nose and fighting. Jumping into action, he leapt forward and grabbed at the throat. Mostly on the panicking arrogant beast’s back, he used his slight weight to work on of balancing the creature as his jaws clamped tight to work on strangling him. That moehawed ankle bitter did a good job, exactly what he needed her to do. If she ran off now it wouldn’t matter, thought it would be a shame to spend that energy and not get something out of it besides being free of him.
~~~
Tuta whined around her deathgrip on the zebra's nose. It was a matter of death too, either the zebra's, or her own when she fell and it trampled her. On her own, she never would have gone for something this big and powerful. She risked breaking one of her slender legs, and then that would be the end of her. As it was, she felt a flood of relief when the cheetah joined in to take down the animal, their twin grips making it hard for the zebra to stay on its hooves.
She clung, feeling her strength draining as she fought for her life and to take the life of the zebra, promising herself she'd never get involved with cheetahs OR zebras again.

It didn’t take long, with the two of them working together, Scar Butt had no chance. Within minutes, the brute fell to his front legs then to the ground. Not letting go, Ryuu bit harder, the hot blood running into his mouth like the sweetest water.
Licking the fur off of the dying beast’s neck, the taste of flesh and blood calmed him and returned his manners. Well, a bit, he wasn’t going to let go until she decided if she was going to eat, or run. Having to defend this kill from scavengers would be a real pain in the neck, easier with help.
~~~
Tuta growled as they pulled the zebra to it's knees, then to the ground, holding on with all the tenatiousness of a crocodile till the prey had finished it's thrashing and finally died. When it was all said and done, the maned wolf was exhausted, but humming with adrenaline. That had been the single most idiot thing she had ever done... and she felt like she was flying from the after-effects of it. What a thrill... but something told her to be cautious about pushing her luck like that again.
Scrambling to her paws, the dark female shook herself all over, glancing at the blue cheetah with disapproval written all over her. "Well, there. You've got your Zebra. Eat what you want so I can have my share." She didn't quite snap or growl, but her voice was hard-edged.
Ryuu grinned cheekily at her, blood staining his blue pelt. "Ryuu one, scar butt zero! Good work, Little Miss." Ankle bitter would always be his nickname for her, though she certainly aimed height then the ankles with this kill.
Since she was going to let him eat first, he was not going play chivalrous. Wasting no time, he leapt over the shoulder and went for the gut. Diving forward with growls and snarls, he made short work of the skin. Lions, the lazy things would lick the fur away, but a cheetah knew to eat as fast as absolutely possible because something bigger could be around any second to take the food.
The one kind act was to leave half of the liver for the ankle bitter, even pulling it out of the beast and leaving it for her. After that he went for the choicest meat and organs. By the time he gorged himself round as a cheetah pregnant with a hippo, most of the cavity had been emptied and only the heart and lungs were left of the organs. There was still plenty on bones. Yawning like a happy cat, the overly full cheetah commented, “Wonderful job, beautiful, enjoy what you can eat, don’t stick around too long before something bigger comes to take it.” The cocky cheetah started to walk almost waddling off, there was long nap in the sun waiting for him to help digest what he stuffed down his throat.
~~~
The maned wolf rolled her eyes as the cheetah strutted off, stuffed to the proverbial gills with fresh meat. She didn't need anyone telling her how to take care of a meal, least of all him. Pale jade eyes watched him for a moment, perhaps to make sure he left, before she slunk over and devoured the half of liver he'd left. That done, she tucked into the softer bits, getting those out of the way before starting on the harder muscle of the body. She ate neatly, if ravenously, one ear always cocked for intruders. It had been so long since she'd got a good, filling meal... and not knowing when the next would come, she made sure she ate all she could hold.
Only when she was done did she guiltily remember her charge, Asatira. There was enough for the blind lioness here, and an easy kill at that. There were buzzards circling over head, so if she was going to do this, it had better be done quickly. Slipping away, she took off to find her companion, racing time for the meal left unattended behind her. The memory of the rude cheetah that had helped her kill it was set aside for now, tucked into the other memories she rarely took out to look at.
