It was possibly one of the coldest days that she had ever seen. She had awaken to find her grandparents gone, possibly off somewhere together. They seemed to be always going somewhere together and leaving her alone. Not that Mindy really cared, yawning and pulling herself to her hooves, she looked around. The sun was up, but is was still very cold. Flailing her stubby wings a little, Mindy sauntered out of the home she shared with her grandparents and out into the world. To see what there was to see, to do what there was to do. But first... Breakfast.
Walking away from home, familiarity, she headed deeper into the trees searching for things to eat. The snow about her ankles crunched under her small hooves and her black tipped muzzle sniffed at the air some. Bright blue eyes looked around in a wistful way, she was searching for many things. Food, friends and her father who just, poofed. Pace quickening to a trot she looked around still, eyes growing bright at the sights, the sounds and the white stuff that fell from the trees. Wondrous... But... Where was she now? Looking around at the large looming trees a small squeak escaped her... Great...

A minty color stallion appears in the sky from afar, flying as he had decided to go and wander for awhile, wondering if he could make some friends or not. He sniffed the air as if he was trying to find something to eat or drink. He flapped his wings hard to guide himself to land with a soft burr. "Oh, my.. The snow here is fresh." He shivered slightly while looking around, folding his wings in place.
He moved towards the frozen river and pouted ever so cutely. "...the water is hard..." He flicks his ears when he had thought he hears something. "Hello?" He saw something purple and moved towards it, being more curious than defensive. "..Hello? Do you need help?"

The sounds of another's wings and landing caught her little ears and they perched high on her head. Short mane ruffling a little as her small wings fanned out a little at her sides. Mindy envied those that could fly where she hadn't yet learned really on how to. Ducking behind a bush as the older stallion called out to her, she tried to keep herself well hidden, though her light colored coat made her stand out more in the white and green of the lands.
"H.. Hi?" she squeaked slowly shuffling out from behind the bushes, her two toned tail flicking behind her as saucer sized, bright blue eyes watched him. "Mindy don't really need too much help. Though Mindy hungry and there be nothing here to really... Eat." She looked around frowning some, her wings drooping a little at her side. "Does bigger winged one know where food is?" She looked back toward Minty with those saucer sized eyes again, her expression a but lost, but other wise curious.

Minty could only smile at her for her cuteness before saying. "It is quite alright, little one. I won't hurt you." He burrs gently, while tilting his head. "What are you doing all the way out here by yourself, Miss Mindy? My name is Minty... You shouldn't be out here by yourself. You could get hurt." He uses one of his wings to cover her body so she wouldn't get cold.
"I do know a place where there is food." He looked around gently and sees a familar path. "There are some hot springs nearby where green things grow.." He smiled gently at her. "Where is your daddy at? He should be out here, taking care of you. Since he is not here.. I'll take care of you til your family can find you." He gave her a small nuzzle. "Just call me whatever you like, Little Mindy."

Mindy shied away from the wing before it wrapped around her thus blustering the warmth about her body. Her head tilting one way then the other as he spoke of her family and of her father. She didn't know where her father was, nor anyone else of her family. They all seemed to just vanish on her all of a sudden. Though she supposed that they didn't mean to do that... It just seemed like some had forgotten about her.
"Daddy go poof on me." She squeaked looking toward the ground. "Grandma and Grandpa went out for a while, leaving me alone. But I don't want to be alone." She shook her head before looking back up toward Minty.
She looked off in the direction that he had said that green things grew, and there was a hot spring? What were those? She had only been able to eat berries that some fleshy looking thing brought to her and her grandparents. But it seemed that even that stranger had forgotten about her too. Shaking her head, Mindy remained silent for a moment before looking once more to Minty.
"Your name sound almost like my Mr. Minty." She finally came to that one conclusion. "What are hot spring and green thing? Mindy only know to eat berries that strange fleshy creature bring to Grandma and Grandpa."
Oh she was cute, and doubted that it would ever grow out of her.

Minty looks at her with a sad frown before gently replying. "You are not alone, Little Mindy..I am here. I never liked being alone myself when I was your age." He flicks his tail while looking around as he began to lead her to the hot springs where they would have some fresh clovers for her to eat.
"It'll be awhile before we get to the hot springs, Mindy.. I hope you don't mind a bit of walking." He chuckled slightly, burring with ease. "I know that look of yours..You are wondering what are hot springs... Right? Well.. They are ponds or lakes that have warm water in them. If you got any parts of your body that hurts, it'll help you right away by just standing or sitting in the hot springs itself."
"And Who is Mr. Minty? That is one of my nicknames, little one." He smiled as he couldn't refrain himself from chuckling. "They will have some clovers and berries if you like. They have all sorts of green things to eat."
He looked at her with a smile, thinking to himself. "Who would want to abandon this sweet filly? She is a good little filly.. Maybe after awhile, I could adopt her to be my daughter.." He watched her while burring gently. "I'll tell you what..How bout you stay with me while we search for your daddy and grandparents, hmm? I am sure they wouldn't want you to be scared or alone out here. Don't fear for Mr. Mint is here!" He chuckled, hoping he had gotten the little filly to smile and forget her worries for a bit there.

Mindy watched Minty as he spoke and started leading her toward the hot spring that was apparently a ways away. Her head tilting as he talked of clovers? She wondered what those where, she hadn't seen them before nor even heard of them before. turning her face, black muzzle pointed earthward she ponder. Cloves, they sounded like something one would just watch or something like that. But the mention of berries brought a brightness to her already bright blue eyes that she bound forward a little.
"Well, lets, go, go, go!" She pipped bounding a little kinda ignoring the part about him looking after her until they could find either her father or grandparents. "I want to these clovers and hot spring things you talk about."
Bounding forward some she stopped to wait for Minty before bounding forward again. She wanted to get there as fast as she could, no matter what. At this point all her excitement made her forget some things, like the cold. She was too 'fired up' to think about it. Once and a while her tail would twitch behind her, of she was happy... For the moment before things turned to when she would have to try and go home... Where ever that was now...

Minty burst out laughing at the sight of the cuteness she was expressing without realizing. "Oh.. my.. word.. You are the cutest thing in the world, Mindy... Come on! Lets run then!" He then started off as a trot, making sure she had gotten the hint. Then he turned his trot into an easy gallop, not wanting to make her think that he was abandoning her. "I know you are already strong, Little Mindy!"
He looked to see where the path was and turned towards it with a smile, letting out a huge burr, opening his wings to let them feel the wind once again. "Open your wings! You need to let the wind into your heart and body, little one! That is step one of learning how to fly!"

Mindy picked up her pace some as she followed behind Minty. Her tail raising a little behind her, the wind making it wave from side to side as she went. Even her snort mane bristled at the nap of her neck. She tried to keep up with Minty, but she wasn't exactly that strong. As he headed into an easy gallop she poured on the speed to keep up with him, though ducked a little as she had gotten beside him when his wings flared open to his sides. Skidding herself to a halt she watched him curiously.
Looking back at her own 'stubs' when he had told her to open her wings as she ran... Would that really work? would that get her into the air? Tiling her head a little she looked forward as Minty was now a fair distance away from her. Scrambling she dashed after him, her little stubs flying open at her sides as she went. But she wasn't sure what he meant about letting the wind into her heart? What did that mean? How could she let the wind into her heart? Did he want her to cut herself open to let it in? Wouldn't that hurt?
"Fly?" She only questioned out loud. "Can I really fly? Even with these... Stubs?" She gave a quick glance back at her wings before looking forward again, small tri-colored wings still open at her sides.
She was still trying to figure out how to let the wind into her heart and body. She could feel it pulling at her feathers, the small downy feathers ruffling some as she ran. There had to be another way to do all this... Wasn't there? But all these she kept to herself, but there was a real puzzled look on her face, but she looked to Minty for guidance and there was something else there... Mindy just didn't know what it was... Yet.

Minty only merely smiled softly. "You can do anything you want to do if you put your heart and mind into it, Little Mindy.. Believe me. I had the same problem til my mother told me what to do. At first, I didn't know what she was saying." He slowed down for her with a smile. "What she means is believe in yourself that you can fly, Mindy.. Open your heart.. It is your dream to fly.. isn't it?"
He smiled as he gave her a nuzzle across the face. "And I believe in you, Little Mindy.. " He closes his eyes and just kept his wings opened for the air, soon he was gliding slightly over the ground. "See? Even a little wind can pick you up, Mindy. Just keep them open wide like your heart is. You have a huge heart.. That I can see."

Mindy just watched Minty as he spoke and talked about how to let the wind it. It seemed to be more complicated then she first thought. But there was the mention of her dreams? She didn't know what her dreams were, they were just a bunch of jumbled up things she guessed. But the sloppy nuzzle tossed her off course making her trip up over something and tumble to the snowy ground. Laying on her belly, legs kinda here and there, she looked straight forward. Her wings still out at her sides, small sniffle sounds coming from her.
Not that she was really 'hurt' she was just a bit upset with herself for not really understanding. Folding her wings to her sides she just laid there for the moment before staggering to get back up onto her hooves. Shaking her head a little she looked around, wondering just where they were, momentarily forgetting her 'flying' lessons.
"Mr. Minty? Where are we?" she asked looking back toward him, scrambling somewhat to get back to his side as she thought she had heard something behind her... But there was nothing there, but a bush she had somewhat backed into...

Minty gasped when he had saw her fall and moved quickly towards her. He nuzzled her gently before looking at her. "Are you alright, little one? I am here." He looked around and sees the bush. ".. I think we are at the springs now.. You just backed into one of the best berry bush, Little Mindy." He licks her on the forehead to make sure that she is alright.
Minty grabs some berries and puts it down in front of her. "Here.. these are blueberries." He moved towards another bush where they seem to have strawberries. "There are all sorts of berries here.. even Blackberries." He said with a small grin on his muzzle. "I am sorry for making things so hard in your mind, little one. Believe me.. it is not all that hard as you think. You can do it. I believe in you." He nuzzled her once again.. almost like a father does with a daughter.

Looking back at the bush that she had bumped into. Her eyes lite up at the sight of the blueberries. They were one of her favorites that her grandparents had given her. Blinking a little she looked up at Minty has he licked her forehead, rearing up the best she could without falling over she tried to nuzzle against him... But it headed up being more of a headbutt then anything else. Tail twitching behind her she leaned down and tugged the berries off the branch with much gusto.
"Blue ones are always my favorites." She squeaked as her muzzle, well the lower part showed blue from the berries. "Black ones make me shiver all over." She stayed away from those.
She followed him around looking at the strawberries, sniffing at them before tiling her head some. She hadn't seen them before and they looked good from where she was standing. Almost trance like walked closer and pulled one off the plant. Straightening up some she chewed thoughtfully before bounding over behind Minty, tugging gently at his braided tail.
"Those red ones are really good Mr. Minty." She pipped looking back toward the strawberries. "What other things are around here?" she looked around, trying to figure what these, 'green' things were he had mentioned before.
When things came back around to her not being able to fly, or that's what she thought it was about. Mindy just gave one of her cutest smiles to Minty as she nuzzled him back some, her wings shuffling at her sides. Her bright blues looking into his own from where she was, still berry juice on her face. She would clean that off later when she got something to drink.
"It ok, I will get there when stubs not so... Stubby." She smiled still referring to her wings as stubs. Would she ever stop that? Who knew, but it sure did make her cute, right?

Minty looks at her before giving her one of his deep laughter. "It is quite alright, Mindy.. Strawberries and Blueberries are my favorites. They also have some raspberries around here somewhere." He moves her towards the clovers. "These are clovers.. the best green things you can have for a growing filly like you.. especially a cute one like you."
Minty couldn't help but smiled when he saw the juices all over her mouth before moving towards her. He began to lick it off as he burred gently. "Mindy.. you know how to be cute for me... don't you?" He said with a wink.
"You never know til you try, Mindy..My wings were just as the same as yours when I was your age.. It didn't stop me from trying you know." He stayed close to her while cleaning her face still.

Mindy gave a small squeak when Minty proceeded to clean her face from the left overs of the berries that she had eaten. Eyes closing for a moment she shook her head a little trying to now dodge his washing as she wiggled under his belly and out the other side. Moving over toward the clover she looked down at it with a somewhat odd look on her face. It didn't look all that great, nor did it look really appetizing, he had to be joking that it was good for her.
"This is clover? It no look that good." She backed away from it as if the small plants were going to leap at her or something. "It just look like somthing someone would walk on."
True that many walked on the stuff, but most also ate it too. She just wasn't all that sure if it was as good as he had said it was. Turning her head away from the clover she looked around for the hot spring, he had said that they were there and all she had seen so far was the berries and clover, not that they weren't a good thing or anything.
"Mindy just don't want to fall." She said to his flying chatter. "Mindy afraid to get too high, and then fall." she imitated what she was saying with a hoof, her crashing to the ground with a stomp. "So where this hot spring?" she looked around again, trying to take everything in.
