Playlist: Cry by Rihanna
It was a decently bright day, a bit of a chill but easily handled for a huntress in training... Dozing lazily in a tree she had escaped the confinements of the HyTech facilities wanting to be alone for one. Though that was hard to do when you could constantly feel the presence of another dipping in the shadows. With a huff she sat up swinging her leg over the branch she was perched on. "I can feel you out there. You might as well just come out it's annoying otherwise." Still to this day she couldn't pin point his location which to her meant she wasn't at her full capacity as a huntress but one day she would be. That she had promised herself.
Even so it was nice to have that little bit of reassurance, to be able to feel him lurking about even if she couldn't see him. "It's a nice day out, you should enjoy it with me. I'm bored."

Lurking somewhere nearby in the shadows, Dyre was tense. He had been following her since daybreak, circling around as he tried to gather the courage necessary to do what he had to do.
It had finally come; the day he cut himself from this world and said goodbye for good. He had been putting it off for some time, dragging the decision out by telling himself that Noe needed him there longer to protect her, teach her and to care for her. But finally he had chosen a date and he was going to stick to it now that his mind was set. It was just difficult to take that final step and say ‘it’s over’.
It hurt. Dyre was almost surprised at how much pain pressed down on his chest, making him feel as if he needed to gasp for air. He should never have allowed it to happen. This fondness should never have been allowed to grow. But of course it did exist and now the Dark Angelic would have to deal with what had blossomed from a curious trip onto another world.
The branch dipped under his added weight as he appeared upon, balanced easily, slightly crouched. His expression was blank. After this goodbye he would have to use up every bit of his energy to finish his intended plan, closing off the pathway between worlds for good and also leaving a part of himself behind. It would have been impossible to go had he not known she would be taken care of after by someone or something he could trust to never forsake her.
“I’m leaving.”
The words hung heavily in the air around them, and the day seemed dark despite the sun.

She didn't bother responding, didn't bother looking at him, her eyes gazing into the endless sky momentarily blinded by the sun until she lifted an arm to shield herself. There was no need to say anything, it was a decision made a long time ago but to think it was already time for him to leave she couldn't possibly believe that. With a heavy sigh she leaned against the tree once more keeping her arm shielded over her eyes. Laying back she managed a half smile trying to humor herself over the situation. "We should probably go further out fishing. It's really a nice day..." So he was leaving why dwell on it, they could spend a little more time together couldn't they?
There were so many things she could learn, things she wanted to ask him... maybe now was as good as time as any but instead of that, her voice was caught in her throat. A soft whimper managed to escape and thankful for the shield of her arms she didn't have to look him in the eyes. At this point she probably looked pitiful but she wouldn't show him such a shameless side. Just like when she was little she always demanded the most of him now was no different. They were going fishing! "So shall we?" She sat up with a warm smile the gloss in her eyes giving away the pain she felt but she was strong. "I won't take no for an answer." And with that she slipped from the branch to land gracefully on the ground, giving one final look up toward him before running at top speeds to the lake. "Hurry up!"

Noe’s reaction made him more tense that if she’d simply broken down into tears. Dyre had known her a long time now, so that the pain she desperately tried to hide shone through.
Yet she fought it, giving a bright smile and demanding they go fishing. Fishing? A part of Dyre wanted to grab her in his arms, say goodbye and then leave for good, making the painful moment as short as possible. But his agony was going to be prolonged it seemed. They would spend the day together, wondering about what could have been and trying to find a way to let the other go at the end of the day.
But if Noe needed that time then he would give it to her. She would have one last day of memories to keep in her heart before he left and was allowed the bliss of forgetting all that had one been.
Dyre closed his eyes briefly as she slipped from the branch and took off, letting out a deep breath before he moved to follow, suddenly beside her and easily keeping pace as they sped towards the lake.

It didn't take long for them to reach the lake, Noelani thinking back on how many times she had wanted to spend alone with Dyre like this. It was just a shame these times were the last. With a heavy sigh she stopped short of their destination taking slow strides to the lake side where it stretched far over the area.
Another sigh escaped her lips as she stepped to the lake's edge sticking her feet in the surface. "By the way I want to apologize for that fight a while back. I was just being a brat." She offered as an after thought.
As her mind wandered she couldn't help thinking the easiest way to say goodbye to someone was to not say it at all. It was better to just assume they'd see each other again some day. Who knew maybe another portal would open and he'd come to visit. A girl could dream right? Suddenly fishing didn't seem like much fun and she only sat on a log stump nearby feet kicking up water at the lake's edge. She could still feel him but it was growing more faint by the minute... So he really was leaving this world...

In silence Dyre followed Noe towards the lake, easily matching her stride and relaxing the pace when she decided to take the last few metres slowly. His mind was thankfully blank. He had already gone through all the turmoil it took to make this decision and he no longer had to think about ‘yes’, ‘no’s’ and ‘maybes’. His leaving had been hanging in the air for a long time now, poisoning their meetings with badly controlled grief, anger and resentment. That it was finally here was almost a relief. Almost.
Dyre paused at the edge of the lake, staring out over the water with an unreadable expression. “I… also apologize.” The corner of his lips lifted into a bitter smile. “After all this time I’m still no better at dealing with others feelings than when I first stepped into this world. The situation caused me to lash out at you.”
His gaze moved to Noe and he reached out, gently combing his claws through her hair. This was the last time. The very last night he could look upon her. Preparations were already in place… and then once he put the final gears in motion, this world would be gone from him, memories destroyed. He would forget and she would remember. It made the guilt all the worse.
But it was alright. He wouldn’t be leaving her alone. Not really.
“Noelani…. I do love you.” Such strange, perfect words. Just the complete, honest truth spoken in his usual nonchalant way. “Even though I am gone, a part of me will always be here to protect you.”

Strange words indeed but words she had wanted, more importantly needed to hear before he left. It was still a sad thought. She wouldn't see him again but knowing this gave her a hope. A solemn smile lifted the corners of her lips before she turned to look upon him. "That's not fair." She let out unable to help herself the tears were flowing down her cheeks despite wanting to put up a brave front.
Oh screw it, he wouldn't see her again so there was nothing to be embarrassed about afterward, right? She couldn't help jumping into his arms with her face buried in his chest. "You suck you know that... but I love you too." Although spoken in muffled words it had to be said or she'd regret it later. Though his statement of having a part of him nearby went missed by her understanding. It was something people said to make one feel better anyway so it was easily dismissed. Nothing would remain so why bother consoling her with some trivial love speech...
With a sigh she just remained buried in his arms. "Dy-dy..." Well at least she hadn't forgotten his nickname from so long ago. "Be safe when you return and just promise you'll find someone worthy of you when the time comes." She looked up with a winning smile despite the tears marked by stains on her cheek. "If you promise me that I won't hate you, Dyre."

“Nothing is fair.” Dyre couldn’t help the bitterness in the words. No it wasn’t far. If you loved somebody you were supposed to be with them forever. But this wasn’t a fairytale and the Faekat knew very well that life didn’t turn out how you wanted it. No matter how hard you fought, sometimes your heart had to be broken over and over again. As Noe buried he face in his chest he wrapped his strong arms around her, resting his chin lightly on the top of her head.
“I suck big time.” He chuckled, his chest tightening as she used the pet name from long ago. When she had been a child and had stolen his heart. Dyre looked down her, moving an arm so that he could brush a lock of hair from her face. “If I find another, they will be worthy. I won’t allow it otherwise. But I will never love them… like the way I love you.” Giving a light smirk, he bent his face closer to hers.
“And I can’t promise you won’t hate me. Maybe you should, for being as cruel as to leave. But I hope you won’t. I hope you’ll remember me fondly and never forget anything I taught you.” With that he pressed his lips gently against hers, a lingering, first and final kiss.

"I can't believe you're leaving me..." Noe spoke up softly, her eyes filled with tears that she fought hard to hold back. Looking to him with pleading eyes she allowed the kiss, not half as satisfied as she reached up to wrap her arms around him tightly deepening the kiss. It was their first and last, it shouldn't be like this... her mind screamed but she wouldn't show such weakness in front of this person.
"I love you, Dyre. I love you so much.. I don't know ... what am I suppose to do when you leave?" She questioned but knew there was no answer for that. Simply move on, try to make the best of her life without him. There were many things she could do but it still remained if she would bounce back from a broken heart. Still holding tightly she looked into red eyes unable to help the tears spilling from hers at this point. "You really do suck." She managed on a broken laugh. "I won't forget you or the lessons. I promise but if you don't leave now I'll force my way into your world."

No, he couldn’t believe he was leaving her either. The one perfect, real thing he had ever found and he had to turn away from it. Dyre held her closer as the kiss deepened. It was over all too soon, as they parted and that warmth and oneness was over. The world would seem so cold without her. “You’re going to live and you’re going to be happy. That’s what you’re going to do.”
He gave her cheek a final stroke before he pulled away; the action taking a great mental effort. Away from her embrace he gave a sigh, the green furred creature’s shoulders slumping ever so slightly. “Never forget and never regret. Farewell.” He gave her one last lopsided smirk and then the shadows deepened around him. In the blink of an eye, he was gone. Dyre’s presence left completely from the world, except for one tiny spark that had yet to grow.

She could only stand and watch as every trace of him disappeared from her sight. Stumbling back into a tree she slid to the ground drawing her knees against her chest. She remained that way for a long time, curled into a ball as she spent this one moment of weakness alone in tears. Long after she sat there, the sun setting, the moon rising and the sounds of the night filling the air around her. She had prepared herself for this moment but it wasn't nearly enough as she finally looked up, wiping stray tears from her cheeks. With one final glance at the spot he had once stood she walked home an emptiness filling her heart. crying -end- crying
