Switch was up early. Ungodly early. The sun hadn't risen yet and there she was, sneaking out of her house mate's bed (what, it was cold last night and Kale is a warm body!) and going to get ready for the day. She showered, she tidied up her kitchen, and she dug through her cupboards to find any cleaning supply she possessed. These were all very needed if she were to tackle the shop again today. She had spent the entire day there yesterday, from early morning (though not this early) to very late night, just cleaning.
Sadly, the place didn't look any better than when she started. Nobody would have been able to guess that she even attempted to clean it!
Just as she was about to leave, she heard the sound of footsteps behind her and, upon turning her head to see who it was, discovered that Xbalanque, the boy from the Mayan Shaman Mask, was putting on his shoes and coat behind her, holding one of her boxes of cleaning supplies. The green eyed woman just stared at him.
"You're not wearing those pants, are you?" Was her only question, her gaze moving to the obnoxiously bright teal pants he was wearing. Kay only grinned at her and pushed his way out the door to start the walk towards the shop he came from.
They made it to the shop just as dawn broke, Switch opening the door and placing a brick against it to keep it open. New air still needed to get into the stale-smelling place. As she unlocked the door, she wondered what ever became of that curly orange headed kid. She never did see him leave the shop.
With Xbalanque helping her, Switch tackled the immense task of cleaning the shop for the second day in a row; hoping to at least put a dent in it this time.

Greloren blinked against the light of the rising sun, growling at the small grey dragon lying curled around his neck, hiding in the half-elf's long brown hair. "People should not be up this early..." An answering chirp came from the miniature dragon and the man sighed. "I hate working the early shift..."
Protesting the entire way in a one-sided conversation, Greloren headed to work. Luckily for this procrastinator, there was a convenient distraction along the way. "Hey, look, Quill." The half-elf glanced in the propped open door to a shop that... looked rather like home. Just without the piles of dirty laundry and trash cluttering up the floor.
Greloren spotted a woman and child inside. Both looked to be busy... cleaning? Psh, waste of time that. It'd only get dirty again. But a few of the items on the shelves caught his attention, so he wandered on in. After only seeing the contents of one shelf, Greloren knew one thing: This shop had a lot of JUNK!

Switch heard footsteps on the creaky old floorboards that didn't belong to Kay, nor did they belong to herself (and she knew this because she wasn't moving her feet!), and almost cried out in thankfulness. Yay, an excuse to not clean! She put down her duster and tried to pat the thin layer of dust off of her hair and person, then wandered towards the man and his...dragon?
"Uhm, Hello! Welcome to Balcombe Curiousities...I'm its current owner Switch and thats my, um, well, thats Xbalanque." She motioned towards the dark skinned boy who, upon noticing that his Guardian wasn't cleaning, stoppped as well. He grinned at the man and offered a wave, and instead decided it would be more fun to look through the items on the shelf he was supposed to be tidying. Nahual, the feathered snake that was permanently fused to Kay's skull, spotted the little grey dragon and started hissing.
"Uh, thats Nahual. Ignore the feathered brat." She glared at the feathered serpent; she didn't care for him one bit! The damn thing kept biting her, so her lack of care for the creature was well deserved. "Oh, but if you see something you like let me know! Or...if you're looking for something in particular." The last part was added as an afterthought. Switch used to be a lab technician prior to her lab exploding on her, so shop-related things like welcoming and offering assistance was so new and alien to her.
"I'm amazed that people are even up this early." She commented, taking down a novelty license plate that was carefully balanced on top of two glass figurines, setting the plate aside on a safer, less glass-scratching surface. "Its way too early in the morning."

Greloren turned his attention from the shelves to the woman as she started speaking. Crazy salespeople. Didn't know when to leave someone alone. "I'm Greloren." The man introduced himself. A chirp and he added, "And this is Quill." The half-elf glanced around the shop. "Interesting place here... don't remember this one."
He grunted and nodded about the people being up early. "Agreed. Somehow I got stuck with the early shift at work." More chirping. Greloren glanced at Quill from the corner of his eye. "Yes," he muttered. "I should be there. But no one will be there anyways."
Quill hissed, rearranging himself to bop the man upside the head with one of his wings before glancing over to the feathered snake. The little dragon puffed its chest out and gave a loud chirp. There, it had settled that!

"Nice to meet you." Switch said, tilting her head a little bit at the little chirping noises. "Uhm, Maybe you didn't notice it because it was closed for over a month?" She offered, picking at some of the dust bunnies that had latched onto her jeans. "I'm in the process of getting rid of well over a months worth of dust and disarray." That was really all the explaination she was going to give in regards to the shop's inner appearance.
Nahual was not pleased by the show the little Dragon was putting on. Despite Kay's disinterest in the situation, the Feathered Serpent was more than protective of what he claimed to be his; which, right now, consisted of the shop. His hissing got louder, and after taking in a breath himself he let out a rather strange spatting noise. If the gray intruder wanted to pick a fight, so be it! His feathers were ruffled in agitation, and they didn't flatten even after Kay bopped the serpent's nose.
"Oh, so you're on your way to work?" She questioned, completely ignoring Nahual's display of dominance. No matter what the serpent thought, she was the Master here! "Well, then, I'll leave you to your browsing." The blue haired woman gave a little bow before wandering a few feet away from the newcomer.
"Hey, Na, whatter these?" The dark skinned boy suddenly piped up, picking up a box and taking it over to Switch. He held the box up to her, and when the woman looked into it she instantly snatched the box from the boy's hands.
"Ack! These a-are, uhm...they are--ew! Ew. Ew. Ew. Who would put these in a Curiousities shop?!" Completely forgetting about the other male in the shop, Switch put the box down after her rather panicked rant, leaving Kay looking rather confused as she wandered off hurriedly.

Greloren chuckled. "Ah, that could be it." It would also explain why she was attempting to clean so much dust. Quill chirped at Greloren again. "No," the man muttered, "our place isn't THAT dirty." Another chirp. "No!" Greloren hissed at the small thing. "I'm NOT going to ask her to come over and agree with you." Chirping again. "No, not because I think you're right. Because... it'd sound like I'm asking her over on a date!" Greloren muttered at the dragon.
He was glad when the woman asked another question, allowing him to ignore Quill. "Ah, yes. But it's just this old bookshop that no one ever comes into anyways..." He shrugged and started to look around some more.
Quill glanced over at the serpent again. What was with this thing? The dragon gave a happy little cheep sound and nestled into the man's long hair.
Greloren's attention was grabbed again by the kid asking about something. The woman's reaction just made the man even curiouser. He wandered over to see just what was in this box. His money was on some sort of dead creature or body parts.
"Er..." was about all that Greloren could manage as he spotted just what was in the box. Sex toys? ... Who would? Why had...? Ew?
However... WHY could he not stop looking at that one? The black one with the strange bumps.... the ring-shaped one. Greloren tried to put the box down, but... he just HAD to get that. Why, he had NO idea. But he did. So he carefully picked it up, not really wanting to touch this... thing.
Unfortunately, he grabbed the wrong section to be picking it up and a rather loud buzzing noise broke the silence in the shop. "Uh..." Greloren blushed as he tried to figure out how to turn this freaking thing off before the woman spotted him with it.
Awkward~

Switch had given the man a strange look as he talked to his Dragon on the side. She found herself blushing a bit at his last comment; she didn't hear it all, but she blushed more for her embarassment from overhearing rather than her embarassment over the few comments she did catch. Luckily the conversation continued and then Kay came over with his newest finding.
The blue-haired woman had gone off in search of her garbage bag, and just as she found it and reached out for it, she felt that strange pulsing feeling throughout her body, and something in the back of her mind whispered to her; something in a language she couldn't comprehend. But this had happened twice before; when on the previous day two people came in, and each wandered away with an item. That meant that...an item had latched onto that man!
A feeling of dread washed over her; while the shop was filled with things, there was that...particular box that was set near him. The sudden buzzing noise did nothing soothe her fears. She grabbed the garbage bag and wandered hesitantly back towards the man , her child and the box of sex toys. Of course, she was met with the sight of the man holding a wildly vibrating ring with beads on it.
"Uh...Y-you can have that. Free of charge, No refunds!" She sputtered out, feeling sorry for the man more than embarassed for his choice in items. Its not like he had a choice, anyway! The item called him, not the other way around. She looked away from him for a moment, then her gaze eventually moved back towards him. "And, uhm, I understand that you're drawn to it for reasons that aren't what normal people would think." It was some vague attempt to make the situation less embarassing.

The man's face was red. No, not just red. Beet red. Deep, burning red with flames of the heat of his embarrassment. He did manage to find the little button that turned the thing on and off and pressed it, glad that the buzzing noise had stopped. But... now... the silence was pressing down on him.
Wait, free? HE DIDN'T WANT IT AT ALL! But, after standing there for a few moments trying to make his voice work, but instead looking like a fish with his mouth opening and shutting several times. "Err... uh... Oh, look at that! I'm late for work!"
And with that, he fled, vowing to NEVER go back there. That was just too embarrassing... As he stepped out onto the sidewalk, Greloren shoved the small ring into his pocket, wondering why he couldn't just have put the thing down.

Switch's own face was beet red, but her colour was put to shame by the man's. She tried to find something to say that wouldn't give away why he was drawn to that item. For some reason, she couldn't get the words to form from her lips; it was like they were sealed, though she desperately wanted to tell him. It would have made him feel better! But some unseen force was holding her back.
Instead, she watched him panic and try to find something to say, and eventually he ran out of the shop. She rushed to the door in his wake, holding onto the inner door frame to call out.
"Uhm...HAVE A GOOD DAY! I'm so sorry!"
Luckily, nobody else was out on the street to hear her.
