Well, I'm sure most of us saw the inauguration of Pressie Obama (...some of us closer than others), and it's already been a week. Who woulda thunk it that we're still America!

Anyway, times are hard. Each state seems to be having a serious problem, be it environmental, financial, or just really boring. All this does is worsen the recession we've been in for around two years, now.

The end of it is in sight, but there seems to be a gap in our way.

How do you feel about the recession?
The value of an American dollar has decreased significantly, and entertainment itself is annoyingly expensive.

Jobs are being lost left and right,
and the sky is turning blurple. Oh, wait...you weren't supposed to know that.

Again, the discussion here is: What do you think of it? You have a plan to tough out the rest of it? What do you predict will happen? (And don't worry - this isn't school work, so you don't have to go all "Aw crap, I hate writing class." )

My plan is to tough through it, I guess.

I'm an art student at a state university, with guaranteed scholarships. There's nothing really I can do to impact the situation. I'll just continue spending money when I have to and definitely not invest.

I think you do need to invest. You should buy from the stock market while its low.... and then as the worst part is over and we begin to go back up your cheap stocks will be worth more and more and more as you enter a bear market. I already have a vanguard Roth IRA ... so yeah. I'm going to Valdosta state university, with the hope scholarship, so I'm set. I, too, will be an art student.

Well, I think the problem with investing is that if we do fall into a real depression, businesses are going to be disappearing left and right. If you invest in big corporations you might weather through it, but small and even medium sized businesses might not make it through the hard times. And then your stock disappears with it.

We will not fall into a real depression... studies show this... and forgive me, previously I said bear market, when I meant bull. >.< My bad.

*Shrug* There's studies that'll say anything. The problem with studies positive or negative, is that real life doesn't read them. I don't think anyone can say for certain what is going to happen.

Well not investing only hurts the market more! The great depression happened because people pulled out of the stock market, so how much sense does it make to not invest, when not investing is what caused the depression in the first place? Also, with 100, 000 dollars of your money in the bank insured by the fdic, if you've more than that, you would obviously use two banks. But you won't lose money from the banks. Which was another thing, the banks closing was what sent us further in a spiral, not to mention all the preventative laws put into place and the crack down on severe corruption.

Believe me, history shows... we've nothing to worry about. Only those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

This is a depression. Completely. Horrible truth, oh no, suicides everywhere, people jumping off of office buildings and others throwing chairs at eachother.

...I'm feeling tweekish, sorry.

Anyway, I think we're screwed for the next year or thirteen. The end of it's in sight, at least.

Time is not a circle, and History does not repeat.
But Time is a spiral, and our past can come back to haunt us.

Me, I'mma tough it out. I even have a survival kit in preparation for the worst-case scenario, lolz.

Yeah, not investing hurts the market, but you have to think: 'With the amount the market has dropped, and the amount that it would take to boost it back up again, why invest?' I, as well as many others, simply don't have the funds to waste on the market right now, never mind being able to put in those funds and hold out until the market rises again. Yeah, the market needs seeding to grow back, but the sheer amount of funds that it would take is just too much for the mid-to-lower class majority Americans, like myself.

The tough economy is the easy part...
The ZOMBIE UPRISING should be the main concern!
I have packed firearms, water and twinkies in my underground shelter. I have a large group also prepared for this uprising. Now...we wait. We will not be taken so easily! Our brains are not for their taking! THIS IS SPAR-er...I mean: THIS IS AMERICA!!!

The end is near...are you prepared?!?

As for the economy...eh, I'm still young and we are sitting pretty well at our current wealth. We will all just have to get through it. It'll either pass...or we die. I will welcome both with open arms.

"It'll either pass...or we die."

Wait...what?! What does the economy have to do with dying? Not only that, but why the h*** would you welcome Death with open arms? That's kinda stupid, in my humble opinion. And yours, apparently, too, because if you were accepting Death with open arms, you wouldn't be alive right now. Every time you breath it's a fight for survival, so don't give me that crap.

Now we can focus on how stupid I can make myself while we all temporarily forget the economy. There.

And I don't expect or accept death. Truthfully, I really don't care about all of it.
