Antigone was happily moving in the direction that Maddie directed her in, she was going to see a real pride for the first time and her excitement mounted as she moved. Would they all be as eccentric as the curious adolescent? Or would they be like any other creature the green and white lioness has ever met. Secretly she hoped they were something like Maddie, but perhaps more apt to answer her questions.

Antigone mused about the wonders that lay ahead as she walked each step deliberate standing tall and proud. The young lioness was not too keen on social situations, but like everything else she viewed interaction as a learning process, before only being exposed to her aunt, uncle, and cousins was a learning process and they viewed the world slightly different than anyone she had ever met. Today was a day for adventure, the travel warn lioness felt born anew at the thought of learning about other lions.

"Hmmm?"

Tawa'di was old, but he wasn't old enough to be losing his sight. So seeing a brilliantly coloured lioness walking through the lands was quite a sight to see. Intrigued, the old lion picked himself up and ambled his way towards her, his tail swishing behind him through the grass.

As he grew close enough to know his voice would be carried to her ears, he cleared his throat. "Ah, hello there miss. Is there something I can help you with?" His Sight hadn't given him a hint about her, so he merely let his mind take control over the situation. Seeing was never completely accurate, anyway.

Perhaps Antigone was not paying so much attention to her surroundings because the elder male's voice made the lioness nearly jump out of her fur. Looking for the source she changed her direction so she faced him.

She gasped loudly at his markings as they came into view, "I was told..well there was a lioness, she said there was a pride here, she said she was from a wolf clan, but she's a lion." Antigone stopped her approach tilting her head. she was filled with so many questions, the markings which the lioness had explained somewhat..but why was this male completely covered?

"I was curious," heat rose to her face.

The old lion's head perked up slightly at the mentioning of the wolf clan. When the confusion was apparent on her face, he couldn't help but chuckle.

"I can see why you would be curious, then," he mentioned, his eyes trying to comprehend her coat. He was not used to one such as her, not with the blue as well as the green. Finally, he just let his eyes linger around her face, as it would be rude to not look her in the eye while speaking to her.

"Being curious never harmed, as you are asking the right old lion. We are the Ela'wadiyi, a pride that wanders in different clans across our land. The title of our clans is merely a title, though we try to emulate what it is when we can." Nothing required, of course. A name was just a name unless you wanted to make it more.

"I am Tawa'di Kanati, a nvwati, or shaman of the lands. Do you remember whom you spoke to?" He would find it merely amusing, nothing else.

Antigone felt very silly indeed once he explained that they lived in clans and traveled the land one of the lion clans was called a wolf clan. She laughed and looked curiously at the male. "It is nice to meet you, Tawa'di Kanati," she paused realizing she had not said her name, "I am Antigone, and I'm not sure what a Shaman does." she smiled all the more, he seemed nice and Antigone was not afraid to show she did not understand a concept.

"Madoa Waya, she had these red markings all over a brown coat...and she was pretty odd. But..but in a good way, she was very focused on her task and was not much for answering questions." Antigone was hoping to meet the very odd lioness again, maybe next time they could search for something else.

"I've never seen a pride before, I've been outside of a pride's lands, but I did not meet anyone in the pride. The Ela'wadiyi, are they a lot different than other prides?" She was not sure which questions to start with.

Tawa'di chuckled. "Well, mainly we help others. We can heal, tell stories of the past to teach little ones, give advice and read omens to help the adults." His tail twitched, deciding to hold the fact that he could See as well. It wasn't really important to being a nvwati, only another tool to use when it wanted to be used.

Bobbing his head, he happily obliged to answer her questions. "We are, as far as I have learned. I've lived within the pride all my long life, so it seems normal to me. Most prides merely have one or two leaders, and the rest assist with life. We do have an overall leader, but he only steps in when needed. Otherwise each clan has their own leader. So we're split in terms of how things function. Since we're quite an old pride, most of our decisions come from our traditions, though."

He nodded his head, pausing to see if she needed anything clarified, or even had more questions to ask.

The things Tawa'di spoke of seemed magical and wonderful to the naive lioness. Maddie's telling her to come this way was certainly good fortune. The multicolored lioness' brain swirled with images of lions with markings and feathers all interacting peacefully.

She bobbed her head in understanding of his words, they were like her huge family, but they broke into small parts to live, just like her mother and aunt lived on their own, but still turned to others in guidance. "If Maddie is Wolf clan, what other clans are there?"

"Do you allow outsiders to live here?" she was not sure why she asked, staying here and learning from them would be wonderful. But, they were a strange pride and she was already asking a lot of questions.

"Beyond the Wolf, there is the Bird, the Sky, the Shadow, and the Earth. Each clan is similar in basis, but each have their own specific beliefs special to their clan." He chuckled. "Even I don't know what the secrets are to every clan. That is something that they reserve for themselves. Think of it as a family secret."

The old lion nodded, his greying mane curling around his face. "We do, actually. Would you like to reside here for a while? I'm certain that you will enjoy it once you see how we live." He chuckled, a small glimmer in his eyes. "Plus, there's always more to find out about yourself once you learn more about the world around you."

"Staying here would be such an interesting experience," she smiled with excitement and delight. She wanted to know more about Maddie, and certainly wanted to know more about the tattoos and why a pride would have smaller clans within it. Like Tawa'di said they were different than other prides, it would be good to learn about the world.

She justified it, knowing that she was not doing too well on her own, and they would probably be able to help her learn to survive, she was an awful hunter and her thinning frame certainly showed that.

"If it is not any trouble, could I learn and grow along side your wonderful Ela'wadiyi?"

Tawa'di smiled. "I'm glad you will think that." His tail twitched as he thought about it. Such a pale, yet bright lioness. She would certainly bring a little colour to their lands. He chuckled, shaking his head at himself. He was poor at jokes, but his mind never stopped making them.

"Don't see them as mine," he said with a wave of his paw out towards the pridal lands. "See them as what they are. They will surely welcome you into their home as I have welcomed you. Keep an open mind, and you'll surely love these lands."

Tawa'di was only slightly proud of how the pride had flourished. Just slightly.

Okay, maybe more than that.

"Would you like to return with me, and see my family? The little ones love newcomers. Just make sure you have a story or two for them!"

His worlds that they would open their homes to her brought a lump to her throat and she fought back tears. She had a family, her mother and aunt and quite a few siblings she had never met. She left them because she no longer felt welcome, even if in all certainty they loved and missed her. To be welcome again, to be in a home setting again.

"For what they are," she nodded. Antigone was visibly moved by the offer to stay here.

"I would love to meet your family, and I might have a few stories," she thought over what she might know that would interest them. Maybe her meeting the horned lion, or an odd looking leopard.

Tawa'di only smiled as he lightly saw the welling of emotions. No need to point them out, but he in turn felt a stirring of emotions as well. Pride. He was proud that she accepted his offering so strongly. Surely this was exactly what she needed. His tail twitched as he blessed his intuition. He was glad that he was one of the first to help others when they stumbled across their lands.

"They will certainly get as much out of you if you let them! Come, follow me. I will show you where they are. There are eight of them as well, so watch your toes when we get there; they haven't gotten the grace and manners that they will soon enough," he said with a chuckle, thinking about his young children.

Eight children! That seemed like an amazing number for any rogue she had ever met, but perhaps those in prides were different, maybe they gave birth to more to keep their large numbers. Oh there was so much that Antigone needed to know about this wonderful world.

She smiled and laughed alongside him ready and waiting to follow.

Eight children, I wonder who watches and feeds all of them!
