Esen sat down in the cold snow and looked at her mother. "I'm not sure if I can really fly with these, Mommy. I can move them, but it doesn't seem like it does any good." She wiggled her wings a bit to show what she meant.

Cori smiled and looked at Esen's wings. They weren't big yet, but she could definitely learn how to use them. Although Cori wasn't completely sure how to teach one to fly, but she would do her best.
"Someday your wings will be stronger and bigger, but I'm sure you can use them now honey, don't worry." She leaned down and kissed her daughter on the forehead.

Esen smiled softly and nodded, feeling a bit more confident. "Alright, then I'll try my best." She flicked her wings a little, testing them. "So what do I need to do?"

Cori smiled. "Just flex your wings up and down until you've got them going fast enough to lift you up off the ground. If you're confident your wings will hold you, you can give yourself a push off from the ground with your feet." Cori demonstrated and started out by fluttering her wings slowly, and then slowly gaining speed. She pushed off of the ground lightly and fluttered in the air for a moment before coming back down to help Esen. "Now you try. I'll help you if you like." She put her hands around Esen's front paws to help lift her if she needed it, and also for support. "Start by flexing your wings first so you can get the feel of them."

Esen listened carefully to her mom's instructions. She wanted to make sure she got this right. Her eyes grew wider as he mom began to hover. How pretty and magical she looks, Esen thought. As she came back down and spoke again, Esen nodded, taking her mom's hands. "Alright, here goes." She flexed her wings slightly, moving them up and down. Feeling how she could control them.

Cori watched and nodded in approval. She could tell that Esen was serious about it and that she was paying close attention to her instruction. Cori smiled. "Good. How does it feel? Does it feel like they can lift you up. Try moving them a little faster now," she encouraged, still holding her paws in case she needed the support.

Esen bite her lip gently, trying to get a feel for it. "I'm not sure. If feels a little weak." She kept her eyes on her mother as she nodded and began to flit her wings faster now. She slowly began to feel as though her body was lighter. Less weight was being put on her feet. She wondered if her mother was lifting her, but soon realized it was because her wings were starting to do their job.

Cori smiled brightly, the pride she felt for her daughter evident in her eyes. "Great!" she said, "You're doing it! Can you get higher? I'll come with you." She flitted her wings up and down lightly, not enough to lift her anywhere, but just enough to prepare herself.

Esen nodded and tried to move her wings faster. But she couldn't seem to get enough movement to lift off the ground. She frowned and tried harder. "It's hard..." she said softly. Slowly she began to lift off the ground now.

Cori rose off the ground with her and smiled. "Yes, it is hard, but you are doing it." ^^ "You've done a good job, why don't you rest a little bit now? Are you tired?"

Esen nodded as she started to let herself lower. "Yes, a little. It's a lot of exercise for my wings. I guess I'm not use to it." She flexed her wings, making sure they weren't overworked. She could tell she'd have to practice a lot to get them strong.

"Yes, well you've done very good today. We can have another lesson another time if you'd like." She smiled and patted her gently, "you're wings will also get stronger when you grow."

"I hope so. Then I'll be able to fly for sure. Just like you." She hugged her mom tightly and looked up at her smiling. "So we can try again..umm tomorrow? Or maybe the next day." She giggled a little, feeling excited.

She hugged her daughter back and grinned. She was so happy and proud of her. "Of course!" she said, "any time you want, dear. I'll be happy to teach you some more tomorrow! Perhaps then I can give you some dance lessons!" She loved to dance, and she wondered if Esen would like it also.
