It had been several months now... and the cubs that Far had birthed had grown up a bit, each one of them getting just a little bigger, and stronger. And it was time now, for them to decide what place they would have within the pride once they were adults. For their training should start as early as possible... So the parents were each taking two or three cubs and talking to them alone to see where their thoughts lay on such things. And one of the cubs Ka was talking to was Kaimel...
Of course, little did Ka know that his darling son had decided on the place he'd hold in the pride long ago. While talking to his sister, they had decided on what they would both do to support the pride. From the inside, important and vital but sometimes overlooked. But the little lion had no clue that was what his father had taken him out to discuss. So he just sat there, tail curled around his haunches and staring up at Ka with wondrous red eyes.
Ka smiled down at the little one as he settled on his own haunches, ears tilted forward. "Son ... " he started, "I pulled you out here to talk to you about something very important."
"What is it, Dad?" Kaimel asked, his own ears pressing forwardin a show of eagerness. He'd always hung on every word his father said, awed by how strong the lion was. He couldn't imagine how many demons his father must have fought to get all those scars, after all!
Ka purred softly at the boy's obvious eagerness to please and leaned down a bit. "It's time ... for all of you to start thinking about how you would like to help this pride when you grow up," he said then, seriously. "What we do is very important, and everyone must help somehow."
"I already know what I'm going to be when I'm big, Dad. I'm going to be a healer, like Mom. I'll make sure all of the hunters are taken care of!" Kaimel said, grinning happily and kneading the ground. He couldn't wait until he was big enough to start his training!
Ka blinked at that - a bit startled that Kaimel had already thought about it -and- decided. But he supposed that he shouldn't have been too surprised... after all, these were his and Far's children. Smiling, he nodded. "Healers are very important... and I'm sure your mother could tell you more about it, if you want to know."
"I'd like that. Mel told me she was going to be a nanny when she was big. We decided together. We'd both make sure everyone had something to smile about, always," Kaimel said, his grin widening at the thought of his sister.
Ka laughed softly at that and leaned down to swipe tongue over the cub's head for a moment. "That's good... we'll definitely need help taking care of the little ones while the hunters and fighters are outside the pride!"
"And I can be near Mel! If she needs any help with the cubs, I'll be there!" Kaimel said, laughing and bumping his head against his father's chin happily.
Ka purred at that and nodded, glad that at least two of his cubs knew exactly what they wanted to do with their lives. He'd already talked to Shakil as well... which had proved to be a bit more of a sticky situation.
"Have you talked to anyone else yet?" Kaimel asked curiously, looking up at his father with expectant eyes. He didn't know what his other brothers and sisters wanted to do with their lives. He spent most of his time with Mel, after all.
Ka nodded at that. "Just Shakil so far..." he sighed softly and shook his head. "He's not quite as sure as you and Mel what he wants to do... "
"He'll figure it out. Me and Mel talked together about this after I met Miss Moto," Kaimel said, nodding enthusiastically. All his brothers and sisters would figure out what they wanted to do someday! They weren't quite as lucky as he was, having their own twin! Even though him and Mel weren't really twins.
Ka nodded at that with another little purr. "I know that he will," he replied with a nod. "He just may need a little more help... but that's all right. It's ok to need help sometimes."
"Everyone needs help sometimes. I remember I stepped on a thorn once and had to get Mel to help me get it out of my paw," Kaimel said, wincing at the memory of the thorn. It had dug rather deep into his paw, but at least it was better now.
Ka smiled at that. "Exactly... so if you'd like... maybe you could talk to your brother sometime," he hinted lightly, gazing down at the other.
"I could do that. Do you know where he is?" Kaimel asked, his own grin widening slightly.
"When I left he was back at the den," Ka replied easily, nodding back in the direction he had come from.
"Alright! I'll go talk to him now!" Kaimel said happily, trotting off in the direction of the den. He'd help Shakil find his place in the pride too!
