It had been almost a full month since Marilyn handed the shop over to Switch. The only reason she knew it had been a month was because there happened to be a strange kid with a nasty expression and orange curly hair leaning against the shop's door when she finally got the courage (or was it her sense of duty?) to go back to it. He had told her it had been a month, and he seemed very unhappy about it.

Switch made her way around the kid, treating him much like a germ that shouldn't be touched, and reopened the store. It was dirty, it was dusty, and the items were in as much chaos as they were the last time she came to the store. Sighing, the blue-haired, green-eyed woman rolled up the sleeves of her purple hoodie and got to work. The kid followed her in, but disappeared into the rows of shelves and the general disarray of items.

The Shop itself was open to the public; perhaps not officially, but the door was wide open to let some new air into the place.

There was a lot of grumbling and a lot of swearing as she cleaned the shop as best as she could; which at this point didn't seem like much. There were too many items, not enough store space! A Ship in a Bottle, a curious but sweet-smelling braid of some sort of grass, a strange pair of gloves...too many with a strange amount of variety! Switch found herself not only covered in dust, but also standing on a short and dirty ladder, reaching out to a couple of items teetering on a shelf that looked rather unstable.

It was getting late and the only shop in the entire city that sold ceremonial items had been closed. She muttered angrily under her breath about strange worlds without wild incense as she roamed the streets looking for a likely shop. Bump and Grind Herbals, pet shop, pet shop, adoption agency, pet shop. She snorted- like anyone needed more strange animals around here. She wasn't even sure if the animal slinking through the alley beside her was actually a cat.

Amid all of the pet shops she noted something different. Curios. What was more curious than something normal in this sea of strangness. The door was open even. Forcing a smile on her fustrated face she poked her head through the door, "Hello, are you open?"

Ira did not know why he was out here, the man so usually organised and precise did not go out of his vast manor unless he needed something. But today all he had found he needed was some fresh air and a walk to ease the pain in his leg, lucky for him it was late and the streets seemed quite empty, a few shops still had there lights shinning on but a glance through the wide windows told him that these were mainly shopkeepers and friends talking or sharing tea within.
He didn’t know quite how long he was walking, his step uneven due to the limp and a cane you would not expect a man of his young years to carry, but he was starting to tire, a tanned hand wondered to his pocket feeling the slim outline of his phone and he wondered weather he should call his driver to come and pick him up.

But as he considered this he spotted a door ahead wide open, a women having just now stopped at the entrance, he hadn’t noticed a shop there before, at least not an open one. And to day was it seemed destined for a slew of strange happenings because the shop was quite the strangest one he had ever seen, a second hand shop but not like most, it wasn’t filled with clothes but items, no two of which seemed to be the same. He brushed past the women in the doorway without so much as a glance and limped forward along one of the rows.

It seemed empty to him, the dark suit jacket he wore soon coated in a layer of dust as well as the tangle of fine dark hair but it didn’t seem to bother him to much, as he tapped his way across the wooden floor. Looking for a sign of life.

Woohoo, item aquired! Switch grabbed an old but solid glass figure of an elephant from the rickety old shelf, holding it close to her chest. However, in doing so, she was forced to see what had been behind the glass figure; a jar containing a shrunken head in formaldehyde. What happened after that happened to be perfect timing; she saw the head in the jar when the woman peeked in and called out to her; the shadows that the woman cast by accident gave the illusion of the head's mouth moving, and not even a second later there were footsteps. Limping footsteps.

All of this happened in the span of a few moments, and the blue haired woman was fooled. Letting out a shriek of terror, Switch jumped and tumbled backwards off of the ladder, hitting the dusty ground with a thud hard enough to make the floorboards shake. She was starting to hyper ventilate while she sat here, hugging the glass elephant with her green eyes wide in fear; and the limping walk continued. Against better judgement she looked over her shoulder, and the view form under a nearby table let her know what there was someone at the door, and with another twist of her head she could see a pair of feet and a cane.

There was no talking, shrunken head. There were people! People in the store! Oh god, oh god, oh god...

Forcing herself to calm down, the shell-shocked woman got to her feet, shaking visibly the entire way, the glass elephant still managing to be in one peice, despite her grip on it. She moved her way around a table and a shelf.

"U-uh H-hello." She stuttered out. Swallowing hard, she fought to keep her voice under control. "S-sorry about that, you scared me...I wasn't expecting anyone this late." She apologized, still shaking. The elephant was moved to be cradled in one arm, and the other arm tried to pat the dust off of her, to make herself more presentable.

"Uhm..Welcome to Balcombe Curiousities...I'm its c-current owner, Switch. Uhm. If you need anything...just...ask." Her scare still had her heart racing, but she was at least trying. "And, um, pardon the dust. Its been closed for a month and it wasn't well cleaned prior to that."

Sarah flinched. Ouch, that sounded like it hurt. She stepped into the shop after the rude stranger to see a blue-haired woman sprawled on the ground. "Are you alright miss?"

She listened to the introduction and nodded. The store was filled with oddities...oddities and dust. It was asethetically pleasing though, like someone had purposely scattered junk. It was kinda pretty even. She felt herself smile.

"I like it, cleaning is over-rated really." She moved further inside and swept her gaze over the objects. She had been looking for something rather specific, and it wasn't likely she would find it here anyways but she was drawn to look around anyways

The shop suddenly shook with a rather large thud and Ira only just managed to save a small wooden music box as it toppled from one of the higher shelves, lucky he was there really, he rounded the corner to see the culprit and apparent owner of the store getting to her feet another women near by, he wasn’t impressed. But they must have startled to her so such clumsiness would have to be forgiven today, he offered no greeting or hope for her well being but nodded at her words, taking them in without vocal response for now and setting the music box back onto a shelf, he didn’t think it would matter that he hadn’t placed it back to where it had come from after all everything was just…scattered. Nothing seemed to have a specific placed of its own.

He picked up a china bowl painted with twisted fish in blue and gold and silver, it was a pretty thing but the colours were dulled by dust as was everything else and his fingers left imprints on its surface through the gray. He put it back, his face refusing to show the disapproval was blank mask. “you could do with some help.” he told her. “It seems a little big of a job for one person alone.”
But that wasn’t really an offer jut a comment. A suggestion delivered in cold monotone.

He was looking for nothing in particular but seemed attracted to the nautical items. Like the fish bowl, after which he picked up an old copy of Jules Vern Book ‘Twenty Thousand Leagues under the Sea’ which he flicked through but then replaced, it seemed nothing had quite caught and managed to retain the attention of those dark eyes for more than a minute

Switch turned a nervous smile to the woman first. "I prefer clean, actually...I'll probably be here all night." She admitted. Her house was spotless...well, it used to be. Her live-in was a run away experiment named Kail, and due to her shock of living with him she might have ignored her cleaning duties. Maybe. But she did make a mental note to check when she finally did decide to go home. "But I'm starting to think its overrated for the shop, though..." She admitted, patting some of the dust off of her shoulder. "I've been at it all day and...I really don't see much of a difference."

Her gaze was then drawn to the stern-looking male, and she pondered his comment. "Oh, I don't know...the lady who ran it before me did just fine on her own, and I don't think this place generates enough income for me to hire some help." But now that he mentioned it, she could probably loop her live-in and her little Mask Curiousity. He was getting bigger and could help! She pondered the situation, her gaze falling on a rather creepy looking mask with spikes in the eyeholes. Luckily, she was too enveloped in her thoughts to be startled by it.

"Oh! But uhm..Is there anything you're looking for in particular?" The glass elephant was placed on a sturdy table and her hands were clapped together to make them a little cleaner. "I'm sure something in here will catch your eye, this shop tends to do that to you." Her last comment seemed rather strained. She remembered coming in the shop for the first time, too. She was drawn to a Mayan Shaman Mask and Marilyn had just smiled a knowing smile and sent the blue-haired woman on her way without a word of warning.

Eamane listened to the rude man and the shop keeper as she made her way around the shop. There was such a wealth of things! Nothing that made her want to grab it, but all of them rather interesting. Decorated pottery, foreign masks, drums, dolls, stuffed animals... sex toys...

She picked up a wooden figurine and wiped off some of the dust. The colour underneath was a warm, earthy brown. She found herself drawn more towards what most people would call primitive- things like the wooden statue, or the slightly terrifying masks.

She caught sight of it in a small corner, almost hidden behind a fur pelt of some kind. "In fact I was, but it looks like I found it." She chimed, looking over her shoulder at Switch. She pushed aside the furs, unlodging a cloud of dust as she did so. Sneezing she reached in her hand and fished out the braided plants. Sweetgrass!

Ira barley noted that the women that has cast such a dissaproving look his way before seemed to have found what she desired, he cared neither for her or her desires so it made little diffrence to him instead he wondered deeper into the shop looking, looking for something he wasn't sure but he knew that there was a hum in the back of his mind which told him not to leave he had yet something to do or accomplish here and althrough you would not think it to look at him the dark haired male trusted his instincts on the world around him and judging the people around him.

So he wondered deeper into the shop, through the rows of oddities, and came up something he had not expected, a curly haired boy serching through a box. The child looked up at him, glared and strightened himself. "what the do you want? Isn't it late, get out." he snapped and prometly stuck out his tongue at him and ran deeper into the shop. Ira was rather startled by the boys apperance, even a ittle bemused by the attitude displayed and if he saw him again he wouldn't let him go so easily but as he had run off he had tipped over the box.

Ira sighed and leaned down to right it, alot of the items looked like they might be delicate as well, wrapped in layers of newspaper to protect them, and maybe some of the only items in the shop that had been sparred alot of the dust, and then he spotted it, the head of a bottle sticking out from the newspaper, leaning down he gently lifted it out, the paper falling away and he saw that he wasn't holding just a bottle, inside was a perfect minature ship. He was instantly draw to it. The bottle after all looked whole with no seems so someone had somhow built the ship inside after the bottle was whole, he couldn't help of being a little in awe of such work and it pleased his eye greatly. Tucking the item carefully under his arm he limped back towards the sound of movement and voices.

When he came upon the shop owner again he held out the ship in the bottle. "you were right." He admitted. "Something did catch my eye, this. How much?" he asked, not really caring, money was of little concern to him.

When her two customers had wandered away to search the store, Switch went back to half-assedly dusting and cleaning the things around her. Of course, it was a rouse; she didn't want to just stand there like an idiot! She had just picked up a little statuette when there came this sudden pulse that vibrated through her body. It was something she never experienced before, but it felt like her entire being was echoing. Then came the voice. It was faint, it was quiet, and it definitely was not english. Switch, startled by the sudden feeling, dropped the little statuette, which thankfully landed on something soft that was on the floor; she didn't take the time to notice.

She spun around to see what was going on, and as she did the pulse came again; just once, vibrating through her like it had the first time. It didn't hurt, it was more...startling. She gripped the table behind her, her green eyes wide. The feeling faded, and she was able to regain herself rather quickly.

Then the man with the cane came back, holding out a ship in a bottle. She stared at it, then up at him.

"F-free of charge, that one. Its is yours." Apparently the shop was at it again, after being dormant for so long. Switch understood how Marilyn knew which items had the will to live. "You know, for being one of the first people in the shop." That was a lie, of course. But still.

She tilted her body then, looking around a shelf at the woman with the braided grass. [coloe=blue]"You can have that one, too. Free of charge." Switch was smiling as she straightened up. "But there aren't any returns." She warned.

Besides, it would've helped her with the mess, even by two items.

Ira raised a brow elegantly over the golden brow hue at the words, he didn’t get where he was by being an idiot, she was lying. But why? Why would she give him the ship in the bottle for free? Judging by the wear and the style it could have even been an antique. Maybe she just wanted them out of the shop so should could close up? He couldn’t say he blamed her. Such a dismal dusty establishment was hardly somewhere he would want to spend any length of time either, especially with the little curly haired brat running around.

He Pulled his hand away from his pocket where his wallet was located and picked up the bottle from the counter he had set it down on, rustling up some more of the thick layers of dust into the air. He bowed his head gently and shifted on the cane, his leg starting to ache already. He cursed gently under his breath and decided no matter what he would take the item. After all he liked it, was almost drawn to it despite the queer words from the women.

"No returns?” He repeated. “What a very odd thing to say, Anyway you should avoid making a habit of lying to your customers, it does not reflect well on you especially when it is so obvious.” He informed her coldly. “But I shall take it none the less, good evening to both of you.” he told them tilting his head towards Switch before limping out of the door the metal end of the staff tap, tap, tapping on the wood as he walked.
Outside the cold wind ruffled his dark hair and he noted the night already rolling in, Hailing his ride and climbing into the back seat, to be honest he was rather pleased to be leaving the shop behind even after being there for a few minutes he felt like he needed a bath.
