It was a lazy spring day, the sort of day that seemed incapable of deciding if it wanted to be spring or to cling stubbornly to the cold of winter. For the most part the snow was gone, leaving in its place the cold, sloppy ground of early spring; however, the sun was shining, and a warm breeze gently stirred through the new grass. All in all, it was a decent day, as long as one didn't need to keep their feet clean.

Well, as long as they didn't need to keep their feet clean and couldn't fly!

Eying the ground with that thought in mind, Seyx had chosen his landing place with the utmost of care. He was hardly a fussy stallion; his long tail seemed to be cosntantly acquiring burrs, and it was a rare day that he wasn't spotted with mud or stained with grass or otherwise bearing some other sign of his adventures. Then again, compared with his friend and travel companion Lessia, he was quite tidy indeed! That still didn't mean that he was going to go out of his way to get filthier than usual, though.

Finding a spot that looked reasonably non-muddy, the little alicorn swooped down to a gentle landing, then looked around with interest. He and Lessia had parted ways for the time being because she was on the hunt; Seyx himself was planning on taking advatange of the time to do a bit of hunting himself...albeit HIS prey was far more grasslike in nature, being grass itself. Still, food was food, and he was hungry!

The snow was finally melting, revealing a land still hard and stripped largely bare from the cold. The eating wasn't too good during the winter, which was enough to annoy any growing stallion. Not that Imriel would even claim he was still growing, but he liked to do so to attempt to justify his eating habits. He was a growing boy, that was all!

Much like Seyx, Imriel wasn't a stallion much given to caring about his appearance, though he could see why others might find mud distasteful. Today, however, he didn't plan to encounter others. He could be as dirty and as manly as he wanted to be, without fear of running into a chastising female or another judging stallion. Today was Imriel day. No siblings, no parents, no other extending family, no friends. Just a day to be himself, and do stallion things, whatever those may be. Imriel felt some sort of vague obligation to follow the code of what he imagined stallions should be, often to comical effects.

Sighing in relief, Imriel shook out his orange-y mane, letting his head feathers bob wildly with the force. They sprung back obediently enough, though not so quickly that Imriel didn't try and grab them, much like a cat would chase it's tail. Well, it was rather tempting, wasn't it? They were just always out of reach, occasionally blocking one green eye, but most of the time sitting there and quivering. If Imriel could see himself without the aid of his reflection, he would realize what a strange picture he painted, but thankfully enough, he couldn't.

Of course, it's always difficult to be alone in the soquili lands. You would have to travel far and wide to escape everyone, and today was nothing different. In the end, however, Imriel couldn't be too irked. The other soquili, browsing gently in the distance, appeared to be a stallion. He needed some stallion time anyway.

"Ho, stranger! Did you know you're eating what I saw a yonder wolf urinating on?" No such thing had happened, but this stallion couldn't know Imriel's elven spirit.

It was just as well that Seyx hadn't started to graze yet when the other stallion's cheeky voice called out; though hardly a finicky sort of fellow (or indeed, the jumpy sort of fellow), that wasn't the sort of comment that ANYONE could take without some sort of reaction.

In the case of Seyx, that reaction was probably a bit more understated than the orange stallion would have liked. A raised head and a blink of the eyes was his first reaction, followed quickly by a somewhat curious stare as he surveyed the stallion who had called out the 'warning'. A bit bright on the eyes, this orange stallion, and definitely sporting a few 'odd' characteristics in the form of some weird head feathers and tail ornaments...but then again, Seyx's family was made up of four different Soquili types and his best friend was a kalona. Needless to say, he wasn't about to point fingers!

Ever since he was a foal, Seyx had enjoyed meeting new people and finding himself in new situations. Undoubtedly that was why he and Lessia got as long as well as they both did, the pair of them adoring the unknown. The biggest difference between the two was their attitude and approach; while Lessia was energetic and eager and decisive, Seyx was laid back, relaxed, and accepting of things happening 'as they came'. At the moment, that laid-back attitude was in full-swing as he eyed the other stallion, then queried, "Is it common for you to watch wolves do their thing, or was that more a circumstantial thing? You happened to be watching, he happened to be taking a piss..."

Princely conversation there, indeed!

"Oh, it's a fetish of mine. I like to stand perfectly still, downwind, and watch. Not just wolves though. Mountain lions, raccoons, rabbits, mares, other stallions..." Imriel's voice trailed off as he gave a theatrical wink before dissolving into laughter. He too had a rather laid-back attitude, though his was coupled with his rather... er, shall we say, odd sense of humor.

At least he was getting better from his rejection from Yazmina though. Enough to make jokes and smile again. Or maybe it was just because he had met a fellow stallion. Imriel would always be more comfortable with males rather than females, perhaps because his number of brothers far outnumbered his number of sisters. Hey, he had never even met his eldest sister. She was a far mystery to him. Yei was really the only female with a constant presence in his life, and she was his mother. It wasn't like she was a real girl or anything like that.

"Of course I'm just jesting. My name is Imriel, and I come from the mountains. I have a huge family up there. I like journeying down here though." The orange stallion laughed again, a deep laugh that came from somewhere in the vicinity of his stomach. It was far deeper than his regular speaking voice, oddly enough. It had bothered Imriel when he was younger and his voice had gone through various changes, but now he had learned to live with it. It would always be a quirk, and quirks were always good.

"What about yourself? Where do you hale from? Do you have a large family?" Too bad Imriel had never learned the fine art of not nosing into everyone's business. Well, he had time to learn. He was plenty young enough, and still plenty stupid enough.

Yeah, this conversation had taken a somewhat nasty turn before it even got off the ground. Seyx wasn't the sort of stallion to be squeamish or easily turned, but he had to admit that he wasn't expecting the sort of response he'd gotten from the orange one. Mud, blood, bruises...those were more to his taste than casual chitchat about bodily functions.

He managed to keep a mostly straight face, though it was with an inward sigh of relief that he accepted the lest and the turn of conversation. It was always important to 'know thy enemy', and that also applied to new acquaintances and conversation partners. How else were they going to become enemies? Or, better yet, friends. Enemies were vastly overrated.

At the orange stallion's laughter, Seyx too broke into a chuckle as well, though one more in keeping with both the baritone tenor of his voice and the relaxed nature of his personality. He could respect a stallion who was able to laugh at himself, after all, and was never the sort to begrudge another for honest curiosity! If it was his to tell, he was more than willing to chat, provided that the other Soquili was willing to steer the conversation. "I'm from this general area; grew up over in the forest with a brother and sister about my own age, and I have three older siblings who were grown and gone before we were born. It works." Not that he spent a great deal of time with them anymore, but that was beside the point. "And I'm Seyx, nice to meet you. You're a strange fellow, aren't you?"

Imriel cocked his head. Was he a strange fellow? He supposed so. He knew that his personality certainly wasn't keeping in what most people thought of as socially acceptable. But in his large family, it made his personality stand out, didn't it? So who was to say what was strange and what was normal? Bah, existential thoughts were meaningless! Imriel didn't want to go into introspection right now, or quite likely, ever. Introspection just made one unhappy, and that would ruin his whole persona.

Pausing for far too long in his opinion, Imriel spoke quickly. "I guess I am pretty odd. But you should see my family. There's so many of us and we're all so different that I think I look comparatively normal. We each have to forge our own personalities to stand out." Imriel was enjoying the company of another stallion, for once, and not feeling the same awkward tension he often felt in the company of a mare. If only he had more experience! There went introspection again. Imriel turned his mind to concentrating wholly on this conversation.

"Have you ever flown anywhere very exotic? Earthbound as I am, I'm limited in my travels. I'm always curious to ask those with wings if they've done anything fun." Imriel could picture a tropical paradise deep in his mind's eyes, complete with mares who worshipped him in a rather comical, over the top matter. It made his green eye's glaze over in happiness, though he was still very much rooted in reality and the present.

"I've only met one other like you- wings and the horn, that is. It seems to me to be a terribly interesting combination of things. Have you ever had to fight off evil doers with just your horn?" The questions came fast, but Imriel was genuinely curious, if somewhat silly. He still had a colt's mind in there after all!

Being an alicorn, Seyx had always accepted his various body parts and their capabilities without thinking them to be exceptionally remarkable. Handy, but unremarkable. That, coupled with his somewhat laconic personality, made him an unlikely candidate for Imriel's curiosity. After all, what defined "exotic", anyway? He'd certainly been to many places, but he didn't know if he'd personally call any of them 'exotic'...

And for that matter, he was hardly one to talk about exciting battles and epic adventures. At the orange stallion's questions, Seyx found himself responding at first with nothing but a somewhat curious look of his own. After all, Seyx was a SMALL stallion; the flutter part of his family had shown itself in that Seyx, fully grown as he was, was MAYBE the same height as a fully grown mare. Horn or not, he hardly looked to be the sort who would be off smiting down the enemy...whoever they were.

But he still considered the questions for a bit, his head cocked to one side in a slightly introspective fashion before responding, "Well, I guess that depends on your definitions. I've been in many different places, like the deeper forests, the mountains, the grasslands...I've been to the beach before, that's kinda cool if you ignore all the sand...but that's about it. The lake region is a fav of ours, though, because it's got the cliffs on the one side and nothing gets the blood rushing like cliff-diving!" He wasn't sure how Lessia had come up with the idea of that pastime, but cliff-diving was now one of their favorite "games"; basically, all participants flung themselves off of a cliff and the winner was the one that got closest to the ground without pulling up or smacking into it. Needless to say, Seyx's horn had been used once or twice because of that game, but it was still a major adrenaline rush.

"With regards to evildoers, though, sorry. I've never fought anything in my life, unless you count my siblings for the last clover." Not that he really needed to be able to fight anyway, not when he spent so much time with Lessia! "Do you fight a lot, then?" That would be one possible explanation for such peculiar curiosity...
