I'm just getting opinions about maybe doing a guild rp or something like that. Or at least an rp with dedicated rpers to the rp.

Aye, the Airship Dock is where the RPs happen. Most of them are now a bit defunct, but the Khaos one and the Brass Cog teashop one are both active. The Khaos just left the docks, however, so it might be a bit hard to join in that one logically... XD
But! You are more than welcome to start your own as well! ^_______________^

JackLantern2020 I think she meant something like a guild rp like everyone joins in ya know? [voice=exuberant]The guild itself is that rp![/voice] *ahem* In seriousness, though, I love the concept of a guild-wide RP (and have been toying with ways to do it for a while) - problem is, the guild itself is so damn huge everyone would be in all different places, so we might as well have several little RPs running, with people switching back and forth (like the Brass Cog teashop). I was intending to mount an expedition of sorts from the Anachronism, which everyone is welcome to join. From the Anachronism to Strange New Lands!

im not sure if any one would like this... but i was taught to roleplay through chat rather then forum... NEXXUSCHAT tends to be a very good, respectable, roleplay chat website. Normally nothing under 4 lines of para is acceptable there. There are people who start Roleplays and crate sites for them, then take their ideas to Nexxus and begun a room on one of the servers there. That allows anyone who wishes to join to join. The Room owners can be very picky sometimes ... I do believe I have been declined from almost every roleplay ive tried to join there. But in the normal user rooms the people are very nice. There dont to seem be as many users on it now, but in the summer there can be over 200 users on the site. I use Cyber Chat

I really don't like roleplaying through chat like that; particularly as to get something good going lots of people need to be online at once (or else it's no better than a forum RP) - and when lots of people are on at once it can get... hectic. Also, the four lines minimum sounds horrid. There is no real need for that.
But to each their own.

I too prefer live chat RP over turn-based forum RP. It's a lot easier to RP when everyone's there at once, and if anyone objects to anything, it can immediately be resolved (assuming everyone is mature and cooperative). But indeed it is difficult to get EVERYONE in the same spot at one time. Also, 4 lines is more than you'd need for live chat RP, since you can "double post" at will, and there's no need to cram EVERYTHING into one message. Unlike forum RP, you act in response to others' actions, without having to sit there for 30 minutes typing up a paragraph. It's more like LARP-ing without being there in person... Someone does something, you do something in response, possibly even WHILE someone's doing something. That's very difficult to pull off in forum RP without turning into a god-mod party-pooper. What if you decide to smash a bottle over someone's head while their in the middle of some insulting speech? In forum RP, you have to wait until their whole post is complete, but in live chat RP, you can cut them off if you absolutely had to, as if you actually conked them on the head and they can't finish the speech (again, I'm assuming everyone is cooperating and playing along, it's not always a bad thing to cut someone off!). The key to getting live chat RP to work is for everyone to understand that only 4 or 5 people max can be talking, and no one can hog the spotlight for too long. When I used to RP a lot, we would have 2 rooms going, one for RP and one for commentary, so that if anyone has objections, suggestions, etc, they can post that in the commentary room without interrupting the RP room. It helped when one scene would get stale and someone wanted to start a new scene elsewhere, shift the focus a bit.
I never much liked the whole "write a paragraph and post it" style of RP, especially since you have to wait around for others to post in response before you can do anything else. In my experience, forum based RP generally ends up giving way to a couple of overactive posters god-moding around and making other people's characters do things without waiting for people to actually come in and post. I've never been in a forum RP that worked out even half as well as most of the live-chat RPs.
Anyway, I suppose I'd be willing to give a dedicated guild-wide forum RP a try. I'm already in character whenever I post in this guild (as much in character as I can be without having to use euphamisms and give everything the run-around when talking about real life and modern day things). I might need to spiff up my vocabulary a bit, though, hehe...

Aye, fair points there - I admit chat RPs do have their advantages. Perhaps I was overly critical of them earlier.
Although if I were to have a guild RP, I would personally rather it were a forum-based RP; largely for the fact that I know we'll not all be on at once (particularly if we get a lot of people involved). As long as everyone plays decently, there shouldn't be a problem with waiting for another to reply (which would be just the same as waiting for someone to get online to chat RP).

Heh, it seems more people like the idea of a guild RP than I thought.
Guess I'll get to rustling something up then, a grand expedition to explore uncharted regions of the globe!
