The heat of the day dissipated into the cool of the growing evening. Watching the light from the west fading with its golds, pinks and purples, his brown eyes fell to the warmth at his side. No celestial purple could match the deep purple before him. Leaning his head over, he nuzzled Tiifu's neck and chin area purring softly to her. The ball of affection enjoyed nothing more than sharing it with Tiifu. Enjoying the sounds of the savannah coming to life as the day went to sleep and the prey of the night time got more nervous. At complete peace, nothing seemed to be able to go wrong in his world and he had no desire to move from his comfortable spot laying next to the companion he found just days before and had already become so close to.

Tiifu couldn't help the soft purr of contentment she felt at Sewelo's nuzzling. Only a few days and already she felt closer to him than she had to anyone else in a long time. It was amazing how well they got along. The leopardess gave a soft smile before absently rolling onto her back and looking at the stars.
"I once heard that those long past look down on us from the stars. Do you think it's true?"
Her voice was soft, and almost reverent. As if speaking too loudly would somehow be a crime.

Having just gone to visit Posca again ... Iar was heading back toward the pride's lands in a sort of loop - exploring a bit as he went. The goddess was pregnant now, and Iar was keeping himself in her good graces until the cubs were born. After that ... he'd have no more need for her, and he would take the ones that turned out to be demons, and likely never see her again.
But for now... it was necessary to keep up appearances.
This morning, however, seemed as if it would be a bit more interesting...
Having been keeping watch, he noticed a pair of creatures up ahead. One was obviously a leopard... the other... looked rather like a lion with a much shorter mane and no tuft on his tail. What strange sort of thing was this..? And moreover, what were they doing so close to the pride borders?
Snarling softly, the demon king crouched and crept closer - trying to listen in on their conversation.

Resting his head upon her, he gazed up his eyes to the stars and wondered about that. It could be true, he reasoned, and shared his mindset, "With so many stars so close, it could be, families reunited in death with their ancestors, it looks so peaceful up there." He echoed her tone, because she used it not because he thought much on it.
Ear twitched, Sewelo rose his head and looked around, ears alert. Straining, he sought to discern if he heard something or if it was just a trick of the wind.

"I suppose we won't really know until we pass," Tiifu said absently, before pausing to look at Sewelo. He looked... On edge suddenly. Deciding to chance it, she rolled back over onto her stomach, ears pricked forward. "Is something wrong?"

Iar damped down that growl of his - going completely silent. He really wasn't in the mood to give warning today ... no, not at all.
He was much more in the mood to attack first and ask questions later... or not at all. Having to be nice to Posca so much was getting on his nerves, and the demon was quite ready to simply rip into something.
So when he did show himself, it was a flurry of claws and fangs - flying at the male of the two with a roar.

Listening harder, he tensed and did not answer her right away. Hearing nothing no matter how hard he tried. Sighing he looked down at her and smiled warmly, "No, I guess I was hearing things." Giving her a soft nuzzle to the ear, commented to the first thing she said, "We'll be waiting a very long time to find out, but I am very patient."
He believed that without faulting, except for three breaths later when the devil himself flew out of nowhere. For a moment, he looked dumbstruck, his heart skipping a beat as his life flashed before his life. Half of him wanted to cry out for his mother, the adult in him screamed one thing 'Tiifu!'
Kicking off the ground, he threw himself forward, exposing the back of his neck, thankful for what ever the mane he had could do, against the violent creature. Using his back paw he pushed at Tiifu, a forceful enough nudge to try to get his point acrossed, "Get to safety, find a tree!" Snarling he tried to bite the front paws, but that didn't work because forepaw guards, all he could do was endure the great pain of the bone against his top teeth while having the bottom teeth to try to grab the muscle on the back of the leg.

"I hope so. I want to see as much of the world as I can before I pass," Tiifu said, relaxing slightly. Only to have her fur puff up in surprise when Iartuupe jumped from the darkness. At Sewelo's push, she went tumbling backwards, and quickly listened to the male. The leopardess found a good tree and quickly scrambled up into the branches, watching the leopon worriedly from her safe perch.

Iar forgot the female almost instantly once she ran away ... he cared nothing for females of other species, since they couldn't produce demonic offspring.
He was much more interested in the fight he had started and snarled - trying immediately to yank paws away from the other's teeth and slash at his face with claws.

The powerful grip he had, one made out of desperation, was easily broken. A growl of pain escaped the young male as his whole head got snapped to the side. Recovering, even if all the stars hadn't cleared from his vision, the young male backed up swiftly. Brown eyes searching quickly to make sure that Tiifu was out of harm’s way.
Not a second later, he glared at the battle scared male, snarling. "What is your problem? Get the Cacti out of your butt!" Okay, taunting the devil not a good idea but he was shocked out of his manners and his mind. He was prepared to fight, claws out.

Iar just growled at that, choosing not even to dignify the other with a real answer.
Roaring again - he launched himself at the other male, this time heading for a shoulder, intending to give the leopon some scars .... at the very least.

Sewelo stood his ground, out running Iar wasn't an option, and there was no way he was going to lead that beast to the tree. Time to learn on his feet. Rather then use his agility, he allowed the attack on his shoulder, giving as much slack on the area as he could to less the damage.
While his shoulder felt the fire of pain, his claws were there to give it back. Taking a powerful swipe, he aimed his keen claws down to the rib area of the black beast. In the same motion, his back legs released the pressure he kept in them, just like he was ready to go up a tree, he used that same power to do the best he could in knocking the male off balance or perhaps more. Tree climbing training could help, at least he was betting the other side of his pretty face on it.

Indeed, that sudden push did catch Iar a bit off guard, but he refused to go down - instead accepting the slash to his ribs in order to push back at the other with a low snarl.
He was the better fighter here and he rather thought they both knew it.

Well, he did try, there was some success, but he didn't get the result he was going for. Falling back at the push back, he bared his teeth at the older male and tried to work out what else to do. Knocking the male over did not work and a claw to the ribs was hardly life threatening. Shifting his paws, he felt like staying still was as much a danger to his life as moving.
Form leaning back to bursting forward, he charged at the older male with a spurt of speed and power. Aiming for the more vulnerable abdomen with claws and teeth, he did his best to swing his back half to the side away from the deadly claws and teeth.
He knew his fighting ability was far, far below that of the older male. There was just no other choice, backing down and submitting would likely get himself killed and prove he was incapable of protecting his pride. What he was banking his life on, he had youth. He was younger than the other male and had speed as well, if that and his leopard heritage for the agility, it had to be enough.
