Jilan paces back and forth in front of Genka's apartment, wrapped up in his coat as he waits for the Princess Shuuken. Staying in and reading for the winter is an exciting idea to him, and the little scholar just hopes that Princess Shuuken will enjoy herself, too. ... A part of him worries she will just make fun of him, but on the other hand, he is still glad to have one of his friends from outside of the Silver World to visit. Someone closer to his own age, too.
He had gotten a bit of a start on the old moldy books already, but the progress was slow. Jilan is certainly ready to welcome her help and company... especially since it is already quite cold out, and he wants to be sure she will be able to find the correct apartment building....

And Shuuken appears soon enough, her simple brown coat tied tightly against her while her hands duck into her pockets and her face hides in her collar.
Shuuken is not a creature of cold weather, and it is made most obvious by the little arrows of negativity that shoot from her at quick, timed intervals. To even be out in this weather she seems grumpy, but when she sees Jilan a smile pries itself onto her lips and she begins to run towards him.
OhSilverEmpressruninsideandtakethemawayfromthecolditsawfulJilanplease! Her hands move to grasp his shoulders and shake him as if to rush him into action! He has to hurry!

Jilan greets her and quickly lets her inside, and up to his temporary Silver World home.
... Is Princess Shuuken's homeland this cold this time of year? He has seen Gaian winters this cold, but, he still does not particularly enjoy the weather. Good time to curl up with a book, at least, right?
How has the Princess been doing? Jilan has been... face-down in magic books, but she probably already knew that. He gives off a vaguely embarrassed and shy feeling, but he is still definitely glad to see her.

Shuuken has never experienced a winter like this, groans the princess as the winds threaten to tear her apart. Shuuken, ever-comfortable with touching others, shoves herself against Jilan and proceeds to shiver slightly.
Waaaarm!
Shuuken, once she is sufficiently warm once more, pulls back from Jilan and eyes him with a playful smile. Jilan's fine! With what he's doing, he'll be a great mage one day, right?
Jilan shouldn't be embarrassed! Instead, he should be proud of himself! And as if to strike home her point, her fist punches Jilan's shoulder very lightly.

The little scholar squeaks with surprise as the Princess latches onto him, but makes no move to get her to let go. She is probably strong enough to overpower him anyway. He relaxes after a moment, and lets them both into the apartment. Genka and Kinkyou are out at the moment, but they might come back before too long. They know that Shuuken will be visiting, though.
He then squirms a little under the Princess's praise. Well, maybe he will at least be a scholar, and probably not a great one, but he will do his best. Jilan cannot exactly keep up with the magic he was learning before, though, because he does not have Kumoru to teach him in the Silver World. Hopefully he will not forget everything while he is here teaching himself Porcelain magic theory instead. sweatdrop
When the Princess Shuuken punches him, the boy squeaks again... then after a moment, gently jabs back at her.

And the moment he opens that door, Shuuken pours into the warmth of the place. Her hands move to rub up and down her arms as she attempts to rush warmth into her tiny frame. After a few moments, she turns to Jilan as her eyes flicker like flames, accentuating the smile on her face.
Shuuken will beat up Jilan if he continues to demean himself! He is talented in many things, she is sure, and she would not be here if she didn't think so!
She blinks when he punches her back, looking down to the spot where his fist landed. She then looks back to him as if attempting to discern what to do about the playful punch.
... Shuuken comes to the conclusion that he needs to be punished! The princess darts a hand forward to prod him in the ribs, knowing the tickle points of mere mortals and puny Jilans!

Once inside, Jilan starts to shrug off his coat and thanks Shuuken shyly. The Princess is very talented as well, and much stronger and braver than the little scholar is.
The boy grunts as Shuuken jabs him, and staggers back, giving off a feeling of surprise and discomfort. Alright, he's sorry, he surrenders gonk And he'll, uh, get the books right now so the Princess can see them, too. Jilan scoots away towards his small room.

Shuuken snorts, folding her arms. Anyone can be brave! Shuuken will merely have to tutor Jilan like Jilan is tutoring her! Her arms fold as she smiles smugly at him.
Don't worry! He'll be the bravest scholar to ever live when she's finished with him! As he moves to his room, Shuuken begins to follow after him; her eyes dart around the home as her hands fold behind her back, the Porcelain obviously interested in exploration.

... Well, he will not make any promises, but he can try to learn to be braver. If it really is something that can be learned sweatdrop
The little scholar's room is fairly small, filled with his small collection of belongings, and an awful lot of books from the library. His bed is in the corner with his zither case resting open on it, and the moldy books in question are stacked on a small desk right beside his bed.
There is one chair for the desk, which Jilan offers to Shuuken. He will sit on the bed, he supposes, unless she wants to sit there? Or he can show her around first. It is not too interesting - just the living area and the kitchen and the bathroom at the end of the hall, and the room that Genka and Kinkyou share that they should probably keep out of anyway, and a few tiny storage rooms that are not too exciting.

And as Jilan finishes asking Shuuken where she'd like to sit, he'd see her butt already planted to his bed with one of the moldy books in her hands. She flips through it erratically, attempting to gleam what pieces of interesting knowledge she can from their pages.
After a few seconds of this, she glances up to Jilan and grins. Why does Jilan want to become a scholar, Shuuken wonders? Does he wish to achieve greatness? Does he want to save someone? Or is it merely what comes naturally?

Jilan shrugs a little and goes to shut the zither case, then moves the instrument off of his bed to get it out of the Princess's way.
As for her question.... He considers for a moment as he settles onto his chair. Kumoru is a mage and a scholar, and Jilan has always admired him. Since he changed back into a child, Jilan has found it easier to learn, as well, and his hunger for knowledge greater. Perhaps... he wants to gain his human father's respect, and be something like an equal. But he is also wishes to learn for himself - there is just so much to know, even though he just takes particular interest in magic. So Jilan supposes that it could be considered striving for greatness, but it is also just comes naturally, since he is shy and not really built like a warrior.
What is it Princess Shuuken wishes to become? What has she been learning recently?

Shuuken blinks at Jilan's explanation and then takes the time to stare at him uncomprehendingly. She soon leans forward, a finger poking lightly at Jilan's shoulder for what can only be consistency as she inspects the very pores of his face for wrinkles. Of course, not even such a close inspection appears to satisfy the princess.
For now, forgotten by the wayside, is Jilan's question--Shuuken has questions of her own! Shuuken wants to know what Jilan is talking about, first of all!

... That's right, Princess Shuuken has not met his human father Kumoru, has she? Kumoru is a mage with great power, and he was teaching Jilan magic back in Gaia before he left. Jilan knows he will never be able to get very good at Kumoru's awkward spoken magic, but it is still something to know.
Porcelain magic makes much more sense to him, really. Probably because it is supposed to come to him naturally. And because he has read so many books about it.
He gives a slight awkward laugh as Shuuken prods at him, and fidgets. He is also... much older than he looks sweatdrop
Jilan picks up the book he has been working up from where it was sitting on the floor beside his chair, and flips it open to the chapter of alchemical terms.

... Shuuken huffs slightly and folds her arms. If only they could make an army of people like Lynod, Setsushi, and Kumoru. They would then have no problems in meeting the Silver Empress.
... Of course, She might be angry that they stormed in with force, but...
Shuuken pauses in her thoughts and peers at Jilan. ... How can he be so young looking? ... How can he be so young acting? Shuuken slips off the floor and crouches on the balls of her feet, all the while peering at Jilan.
Shuuken demands to know his eternal youth spell! If he was to look, the scholar would see a grin wrapping around the girl's face. Well, Shuuken doesn't want to know that so much as how he became small again.

Jilan laughs softly and adds that he is not sure how pleased Kumoru would be to be a part of an army. Though his spells might be useful.... The boy laments once again that he could not learn any actual magic from him before coming to the Silver World.
He is honestly not so sure how he is so young again. He came to Gaia as a young child, grew to adulthood, but then found himself a child again one day. Then, when he fell into the Silver World by mistake, the last time he was here, he found himself ... changed. He did not used to look exactly the same as he does now, even though he has, of course, always been a Porcelain.
... Does the Princess really think he acts young? sweatdrop
