The play space was large containing lofted structures, slides, ropes, tiny swings and matted padding all around as children scooted off into structures. Tubes echoed shrill cries of excitement while tunnels with windows peering down led to series of slides and meshed in rooms. It was a small wonderland for any child under the age of 12 with beanbags by books for reading and tables set up with crayons and paper for coloring. The place shrieked joy and happiness that anyone could get dragged into. Jack however, viewed it as a loud, smelly if not a cesspool for bacteria and totally enclosed prison with a guard at the door who was in the skin of a kind lady with a bright smile. The next few hours, while Aaron stumbled off into the mall leaving the small orange alien in the daycare while he sorted out business of clothing and other objects of use, Jack would be enslaved in a false happy world picking at the crusty bits on the floor. In all honesty he didn’t know what was so wrong with running around starkers but apparently the conservativeness of his family had him beat and he’d have to endure but a few hours in the brightly colored room. At least the receptionist was pretty.

“Don’t wannu.” The alien muttered as Aaron settled him down on the floor. He was already checked in, a large nametag stuck on his sweater reading ‘JACK’ in bright orange letters. “Where’s Quincy?”

Aaron merely sighed and patted the boy’s head. “Quincy’s with Kilani at the library. Something about planes.” He muttered rummaging around in his backpack. “Here’s Haddy.” Aaron said with a blush as he pulled the scantily clad stuffed bear out and pushed it into Jack’s arms.

Jack immediately nuzzled his face into the soft fur, short chubby arms gripping the bear as he mumbled “She’s Haddy the hotty-bear” into the plush’s fur.

“Okay… Play nice.” Aaron said and moved out of the playroom with a final wave. Jack felt something of dread as he watched as the bright yellow gate close behind his guardian. This was not acceptable.

Anywhere, anytime, Elly can find adventure. So, like dozens of other children, the playplace is, to her, a wonderful location full of wonderment, joy, and friendly faces.

But Garrett and Alaina had been gone an awful long time. She'd played on everything twice already! The girl collapses with a whimper of a sigh into a bright blue beanbag. She immediately fusses with her pigtails, which had come very loose in her tumbles and tussles. She kicks her feet a little and hums an obscure tune as her tiny fingers poke expertly at her ladybug embellished scrunchies.

Orange!

She sits up with a jerk, which just causes the beanbag to slump underneath her to a different and more awkward spot. Her feet at now almost over her head as she's doubled over from her excitement of seeing such a fun coloured child making an arrival.

The entire room was filled with small children hanging from poles and racing up and down slides, looking from child to child for a possible temporary friend. So when Jack first felt the tensing in back, neck and tail that noted someone he didn’t think much of it until it wouldn’t go away. Absently stroking the fur and red satiny under things of his bear Jack took a small swivel in his seat to get a look around and was greeted, had the object been older and less of the poster child for jailbait, by quite a pleasant sight. He grinned before remembering that he himself was probably younger and even less flattering. Orange was quite a nice change in pace as far as skin coloration went and the tail definitely had…uses, but the absolute lack of hard planes in substitution for baby flab was quite unseemly.

Something innate plugged into the back of his mind and he was once again reduced to the paralyzed infantile state as gums bit down onto his bottom lip. Slowly and lacking his normal luster charm he gave a shy grin and held his hand up to the girl. She seemed cute if not amiable and he wouldn’t mind another soul in the place with a pretty face to keep him occupied until Aaron returned.

Pincer like toes gripped at the furry body of his bear and he looked from the play structure back to Elly before he noticed her character armbands, off eyes and… was that a tail? His need for greeting rose as Jack attempted to stand, pushing his arms down on the squishy surface of Haddy the Hottie but the chubby legs merely trembled before he fell face first over and unto the large bear. His orange tail swished from side to side as his legs flailed, lavender spikes seemed to poke upwards in defense before he finally released a tiny whimper. This entire ordeal was really beginning to become quite demeaning of him if not pitiful.

If one was making a fool of himself, then she certainly had the humiliation part cornered. Elly wiggles herself upright and eventually manages to plop off the beanbag before it swallows her whole once more. Giving it a cross look over her shoulder, she stands on her own two feet and brushes off her good ol' Dora bandages.

Her tail swishes through the air pleasantly, and the bright flash of ribbon cheers the toddler right up once more. Nothing like one of the thousands of things Elly loves to put a smile back on her face, if ever it left.

She toddles on over to Jack's side, and crouches beside him and his scantily clad bear. She tilts her head a little, and her freckled cheeks scrunch up as she broadens her smile.

"You hug weird!" she observes kindly, taking note that horizontal hugging doesn't really look comfortable. "You're orange! I like orange. I like blue, too, and, and green. Green is nice. Do you, do you like colours and hugs, too?!" She falls softly onto her bottom, as her knees have started to ache from the prolonged crouching.

Jack let out a discontented side as his nose is pushed further into the carpet; with eyes squished tight and legs finally failing at their endeavor he sneaks a glance at the exuberant girl to his right. He finally manages to dislodge himself off the bear, rolling on his head and doing an awkward half summersault that places his feet well above and over his cranium as if his body wanted to make a mocking of the letter ‘C’. Slowly he let his feet plop to the ground, spines flexing easily like silicone to ease his discomfort. This was not a good way to meet a lady. Carefully he squinted cucumber green eyes to take another look at the girl, cringing with the sheer high-spirited attitude that seemed to leak bubbles. What he did wasn’t very close to hugging, it edged more to a ‘I totally just fell onto Haddy’ and ‘where are the paper bags so I may hide my shameful face?’ but if the girl lessened the blow to his ego, he will take it.

“ ‘S ‘cause we love each other.” He said in a tiny voice, damning his speech hampering gums and rolled back onto his bum to face the other girl, tiny hands absently gripping for Haddy. He tilted his head slightly in puzzlement at the topic switch. “I guess colours are nice. I like purple…”

He dragged Haddy back onto his lap and gazed over the head of the bear and grinned a small smile to himself. “ I’m Jack…”

"Hi Jack!" Elegy beams something fierce at her company, not at all soaking in his subtleties. Instead, she's just very impressed by his flexibility, and stops short of trying it herself, for introductions are in order! "I'm Elly!"

She scuttles over on her padded knees to throw her arms gently around Jack and his bear in a sort of group hug. "Purple is nice. It looks really good with orange!" she exclaims as she pulls away, her mind flipflopping topics. She remains in a kneel, which this way puts her pretty much face to face with the younger child. Too much looking up and down, and not enough looking straight across at her friends!

“Elly is a good name.” Jack says with certainty before looking down at his toes and then back to Elly. She seemed excited if not dense and more or less a nice person to be with during his imprisonment. Come to think of it, she was a bit taller than him and probably knew of a way to escape, which by no means would be unwelcome to the orange alien. He was about to say something, hand coming down to push Haddy’s head down and back into herself but was surprised by an enthusiastic hug causing him to be more than uncomfortable with the proximity of his teddy. He let out a small noise upon losing the remaining air in his lungs with the hug and paused before raising a hand to pat her on the back. An action meant to imply that he was done and needed fresh oxygen now but probably went over as a friendly gesture to say that, yes he did enjoy knocking the wind out of his lungs and should really do so more on a daily basis.

Upon being released he continued to squish Haddy’s head down and gave Elly a large grin at the seemingly good-looking circumstance. She was tall, older and a bit of a carefree ditz and would probably have the solution of escape if he could only play this right. She liked the color orange and thought purple was nice so he could definitely use brightly colored things as a way of persuasion. “Dad and me passed some really colourful places before!” He said with mock excitement, bouncing slightly in his seat behind Haddy. “And a lot of people to meet, maybe we could go find them?”

What a marvelous idea! An adventure! Elly clasps her hands together and squeals slightly. "Okay! Okay, Jacky! We'll have an adventure!"

In no time flat, she's on her feet and scoping out the scene. Jack has a very good hold on her, and his perception's quite correct; she's pretty much a naive little ditz, easily manipulated, the poor thing. So she doesn't realize her part in the escape is basically just her being, well, used.

She carefully scans the area for the best method of escape. It's like an epic fantasy game to her, in that she has to avoid the baddies and steal away her loved one to safety. Of course, she puts herself as the heroine of the game, for, pfft, gender roles? Please! She might be a princess, but princesses got responsibilities!

Wiggling her fingers at her side, she grins with a slight evil downturn of her eyebrows. "Coat chute!" she practically shouts, but her voice is pretty much drowned out by a lot of other children, so any suspicion from supervisors is lost there. And why on earth there's a chute for the coats, besides having to employ additional staff to sort and hang them, is completely bizarre. "Let's go through there!"
