“Want some coffee Xiu?” Hazeline asked as she held the warm polystyrene cup in her hands “It’s rather good.” Although she knew the answer, Hazeline figured that it was never too rude to ask and true to her expectation, Xiu shook his head politely before letting out a soft chuckle. “You do tease so, Hazeline. You know I do not like nor need food like you do. Perhaps a small cup of weak tea now and then…for indulgence sake, but that is beside the point,” said Xiu as he ‘sat’ beside his guardian in the park. A young child ran happily past the raevan and his guardian and for a brief second, Xiu’s rune glowed brightly before settling down to a soft blue glow once again. “That was…fast,” commented Xiu as the watched the child gambol with a couple of his friends in the distance.
“But is it enough?” asked Hazeline as she eyed her raevan. “I mean…that probably lasted only a couple of seconds,”
“Perhaps if he were the only child in the park it wouldn’t be but…there are many children about so, the fast food here’s great,” said Xiu looking playfully at his guardian.
“Oh please,” replied Hazeline rolling her eyes. “Like I need another person about the house making wise cracks. One Joshua is quite enough, thank you,”
“Speaking of Joshua, where is he?” asked Xiu as he watched his guardian settle comfortably on the park bench with a thick book already open.
“Hmmm?” asked Hazline already thumbing through the book’s many pages. “Joshua? He’s off to a friend’s house. Something about completing a school project…,”
“Oh,” said Xiu before falling silent as his guardian began reading her book.
After a moment’s silence, Hazeline glanced up and noticed that Xiu was watching her with mild interest.
“Umm…is something wrong Xiu?” Hazeline asked as she closed the book and watched the raevan shift his attention from the book to her face.
“Yes,” said Xiu “I would like…to learn how to read, Hazeline,”
“That’s great Xiu,” replied Hazeline smiling with approval. “I could teach you a little now if you’d like.”
“I’d like that very much. Thank you, Hazeline,” said Xiu.
“Okay! Let’s start then!” said Hazeline as she took out a notepad and a pen from her purse. Soon, both Hazelne and Xiu were lost to the outside world as one taught and the other listened.

"AhhhHHH!" Namini raised her voice a few octaves as she performed an enjoyable stretch, though her charge was obviously unamused. The curly haired brunette flashed the crimson haired Frei a quirky little grin, hoping to see its indifferent mask flicker but it did not; Actually, Prajna's bored expression seemed to become even more set in its cold features. Namini sighed, defeated, as they continued their stroll through the park. She never understood why Prajna constantly requested these afternoon walks through the park, as it seemed the Frei hated all these people and noises, but she dared not ask. Her cerulean eyes flickered to Prajna's hands as she remembered their first night together. ...It could be so unpredictable in its responses to even the simplest of yes or no question, so the pros and cons to asking such a question would just be a nuisance to both parties. Another sigh and Namini glanced around the park. It seemed so lively today. She grinned at a group of giggling children and their antics. Prajna cringed.
"Prajna, would you like to sit down for a bit?" Namini suggested, noting that today's stroll had been longer, though she blamed this on the weather. Because of the rain over the last few days, Prajna had been deprived of its favorite pastime. The Frei nodded but before they began their search, added sternly, "No shade." Namini nodded in understanding.
As they came to a row of benches, Namini paused her pace and glanced around for one not so close to the children. She quickly spotted one a little further down and began walking towards it when a cold hand gripped her arm. Azure eyes caught sight of the slender fingers and traveled slowly up the arm to Prajna's suspicious face. The look in its sharp blue eyes seemed nervous or perhaps Namini was being too optimistic. No, the glare seemed threatened.
"Wh-what's wrong? Praj-Prajna.." She choked, fearful that it was seeking vengeance on a child that perhaps had bumped into its ribbon or something trivial such as that. The Frei sighed before taking hold of her head and twisting it to look at a curious pair of park-goers: an intelligent looking woman accompanied by..
"A Raevan!" Namini gasped quietly before Prajna released her. She smiled though, which proved to be the wrong response to Prajna's discovery.
"Let's go meet them," she cheered but Prajna remained firm, it eyes locked onto Xiu. Namini pouted, now her hands on its arm. She tugged cautiously, her voice pleading, "Please?"
Prajna then shot its owner a contemplative stare before looking past the duo. "No."
Then, it used their position to its advantage. Dragging Namini alongside it, Prajna floated slowly by the duo towards their designated bench, wondering if its trick would work, wondering if it could catch Xiu's attention rather than expressing how it actually worked the other way around. All it sought was a single sign that Xiu had acknowledged it. But before that, it would not approach.

Despite Hazeline being a wonderful teacher and that they were seated a couple of feet away from the nearest child, Xiu could not help but feel that someone was watching him and watching him with a certain degree of intensity at that. Shifting his wings uncomfortably, Xiu stared at Hazeline. His guardian seemed oblivious to the feeling of being watched as she continued to explain in a perfectly calm manner, how the alphabets made words and how words made sentences. Perhaps I am being overly paranoid thought Xiu as he tried to keep up with Hazeline. After all, I am rather…peculiar to most humans. I am bound to be stared at occasionally….
And with that train of thought, the white haired raevan would have happily continued on with his studies if not for the movement of two individuals nearby that caught his attention. Lifting his head, Xiu noticed a youthful looking teenager walking along with…a raevan!
Xiu’s heart skipped a beat as he eyed the duo; his facial features slowly breaking out into a delighted smile. It had been a while since he had last met another of his kind and it would certainly make his day if he were to be able to meet the other up close. Turning to Hazeline, who had now gone on to explaining the importance of vowels and consonants, Xiu gave his guardian a gentle shake of the shoulders. “Hazeline,” said Xiu gently lest he should startle his guardian. “There is another raevan! I wish to meet him,"
“Another raevan?” asked Hazeline as she followed Xiu’s excited gaze and gave a small gasp. There was indeed another raevan nearby and despite having Xiu with her; Hazeline was still very much awed at the sight of a raevan. There was a teenage girl beside the raevan as well and like Hazeline, she was probably the raevan’s guardian. “Shall we go greet them Xiu?”
“Yes, please!” replied Xiu already floating up and waiting impatiently for Hazeline to do likewise.
Chuckling, Hazeline got up and made her way towards the duo. “Good day,” called out Hazeline as she neared the girl and her raevan. “I’m Hazeline and this is Xiu,”
At Hazeline’s introduction, Xiu inclined his head politely and smiled at the teenager and her raevan but it was clear that it was not the teenager but the raevan that had caught Xiu’s attention. Floating up to the crimson raevan, Xiu lifted his hand and gave the other a friendly wave. “Pleased to meet you,’. And not wanting to appear rude, Xiu gave the teenage girl a polite smile to show that she was not entirely forgotten. “And you as well,”

Namini and Prajna seemed to stop in their tracks right on cue when Hazeline greeted them. Namini was the first to turn around, openly expressing her curiosity, and beamed radiantly at the other's warm welcome, though she still seemed a bit shy in her introductions.
"Good afternoon -a bashful giggle- My name is Namini and this is my Raevan--"
Again on cue, the fiery Frei turned around and its eyes instantly fell upon Xiu's ecstatic face. Its eyes, reflecting its essence and soul combination, were distant yet appealing as it scanned the opposing Frei's overall appearance. He had a soft smile that could make anyone trust him almost instantly but Prajna disliked all the..lack of color on the other's outfit. At least he had pretty eyes like Prajna did, though not as pretty as its own.
"Prajna. Hello."
Namini smiled at her charge's attempt at polite conversation. It was its first encounter with another of its kind and she had always hoped things would run smoothly. She winked at Prajna and whispered, "You're doing fine."
The edges of Prajna's thin lips curled wickedly as it flickered its gaze over to Hazeline, whispering back, "I know."
Namini turned back to Hazeline and Xiu, a smile still lingering on her lips, "I think I can speak on behalf of both of us, but we're so happy to see another Raevan. Prajna's new and I was actually hoping to get it introduced to a few others of its kind; Today's such a lucky day! Oh--sorry I'm probably ranting. What brings you to the park today?"

The girl seemed nice albeit a little bashful. Hazeline smiled “Xiu feeds on the – I think it is the innocence generated by the children in the park and what a coincidence! Xiu’s rather new too although I daresay he has met a couple of raevans, haven’t you Xiu?”
“Indeed I have,” replied Xiu although his attention was still on the crimson raevan before him. Something about the other raevan bothered the white frei and he turned to Namini. “I beg your pardon but…why did you call Prajna ‘it’? Doesn’t Prajna have a gender? Or…” Here Xiu paused as the other possibility was a rather distasteful one. Surely Prajna was more than just a pet to Namini. The girl had seemed rather closed to the raevan after all.
Xiu shifted his wings slightly, unsure of how he should carry on the conversation for fear of insulting both the raevan and ‘its’ guardian.

"Innocence you say? ...Wow" Namini murmured, in awe at the thought, her eyes flickering over to the crowd of noisy children beyond them. None of them looked the least bit affected by Xiu's satisfaction so the brunette took it as a harmless transition between Raevan and human, though curiosity still nudged her to ask, "Is it ok for the kids?"
Prajna, on the other hand, kept its eyes locked on Xiu. The other's eyes seemed to be searching the Frei for some kind of answer and Prajna assumed this is what David proclaimed as "awkward." Its smirk widened, almost stretching ear to ear, "Prajna is Prajna. Is no more?"
"Not enough," Namini corrected, quickly picking up on Prajna's misunderstanding. "Is that not enough."
The Frei floated for a bit, its eyes lingering on its owner before beating its wings a few beats. Hard. Cerulean eyes returned to Xiu as did the smile, "Yes. Is Prajna that not enough?"
Namini paused a moment in her conversation with Hazeline and wondered if she should let the Frei try and explain itself rather than have her step it. Its irritation was obvious and she did not want to have to deal with a cranky Prajna, especially not in public.

“Well…they do not seem any less playful but I am not too sure of it myself…,” admitted Hazeline a little uneasily. “Xiu sort of assures me that it is fine,”
“Indeed it is,” said Xiu overhearing the conversation. Turning to Namini, Xiu smiled. “Shall we equate the innocence to flowers then? They emit fragrance and they are none the worse for it after someone has smelled them. The innocence emitted by humans is the same; although…it is true that I have never completely drained someone… I guess that then would be terrible. Like…using a vacuum cleaner on a single flower…,”
“So you are saying that it does affect them?” enquired Hazeline a little alarmed. “Xiu! You told me that it was safe,”
“It is,” assured Xiu patiently. “If I were to continuously feed only off a single human and not allow them sufficient time to recover, then perhaps it would be bad but as it is now, the humans are quite safe,”
“For everyone’s peace of mind, let’s hope so,” muttered Hazeline shaking her head. Xiu however, had turned his attention back to Prajna who had by then spoken.
“I guess it is…,” conceded Xiu with a slight nod of his head. “But I am curious…Prajna as to why you are referred to as an…’it’. You certainly look…umm…well…that is to say…you look rather like a…,” said Xiu faltering as he realized a little too late that he could not possibly discern Prajna’s gender. To all sense and purposes, the raevan bore the look of a young boy; a rather feminine boy to be sure (the pot calling the kettle black?) but then there was that nagging suspicion that Xiu could not quite shake off…

Namini immediately smiled at Xiu's example as she quickly blurted out a simile for herself, "Like vampires right? Well..in one of the cases..Let's say a vampire can draw a little bit of a person's blood to satisfy themselves! As long as the vampire doesn't lose control and totally suck all the blood out of the person, both parties are relatively ok, right?"
The young brunette seemed to beam at having found such a lovely comparison all by herself, but Prajna just rolled its eyes. Even a newborn could tell that the words "blood", "lose control" and "suck" were not a good combination. Nonetheless, Namini was Namini and Prajna did not feel like correcting her. Its attention was too focused on Xiu. His lips moved so quickly and his words were so confident. Prajna could not help but wince at acknowledging the fact that Xiu..was probably smarter than itself. Age played a part, no doubt, but this fact dug deep in the Frei's delicate flesh. Despite this realization, Prajna kept a smirk on its face as it returned to its "game." Even if Xiu was smarter book-wise and could spit out a million zillion facts about random little flowers, Prajna was determined to prove that its tongue was craftier.
"I, Prajna, like "It." "It" gives more fun, more games. And, David said "It" meant these are 'kay too.." and with that Prajna leaned towards Xiu and placed a delicate but confident kiss upon his pale cheek. The Frei breathed a sinister laugh against Xiu's neck as it pulled away before breaking out into a satisfied ear-to-ear smile. "Fun, no?"
Namini caught the end of Prajna's act and felt her face grow hot, "Prajna!"

“But in that scenario, wouldn’t said person be turned into a vampire once bitten?” Hazeline asked in amusement; already liking the young brunette for her bubbling personality. Her raevan on the other hand, was a slightly different story (in Hazeline’s opinion) and just as Hazeline was about to ask the other how she came about having Prajna, Hazeline heard the teenager exclaim Pajna’s name before turning a rather curious shade of red. Whipping around, Hazeline was just in time to see a self satisfied Prajna moving away from a very, very stunned Xiu. “What…just happened?” ventured Hazeline worriedly as she shifted her gaze from one raevan to another.
The term ‘stunned into silence’ was probably not doing the situation justice. Xiu was more than just stunned. He was…horrified, shocked, flabbergasted and not to mention appalled by what has just occurred. Flaring his wings a couple of times as he searched for the proper words, it was all Xiu could do to rub the spot where the crimson raevan had kissed him before sliding his hand towards his neck. The memory of the other breathing down his neck sent uncomfortable chills down the white raevan’s spine. It wasn’t so much about the kiss that was given (Xiu had seen humans kissing each other all the time), but rather the manner in which the kiss was given and…that neck breathing…
What was it all about?
Prajna had mentioned that ‘it’ gives more fun. What does that mean? How was this…fun? Xiu shook his head as if to clear his thoughts before eyeing Prajna but this time, there was a look of a person who was wary of what the other might do. “No, not fun at all, Prajna,” Xiu said trying to maintain some level of dignity. “That was…uncalled for,”

"Oh dear, I'm so sorry Xiu! I.." Namini turned her motherly gaze upon Prajna, her cerulean eyes scolding though the Frei simply snickered at her expression. "Prajna, apologize to him right now."
Prajna let out a few more lighthearted notes of sing-songy giggles before stopping abruptly in its laughter and meeting Namini's hard stare with its own sharp eyes. It was now a face off as the two adolescents silently pushed the other with their body language to see which would be the first to give in. Namini furrowed her brow deeper before letting out a softer voice, one that was nearly pleading, "Prajna, please. That wasn't right and you know it."
A defeated sigh. This was what Prajna hated about its guardian; She always seemed to win with that..that look. The Frei hadn't mastered it quite yet but when it did, oh, how the tables would be turned. Prajna turned back to Xiu, its cheeks a little rosier now that it had been caught red handed, but refused to admit open defeat to this stranger as well; It kept its eyes up and locked in place to meet Xiu's.
". . .Sorry Xiu. Sorry it was no fun for you. . ..." there was a pause as Prajna shot Namini a glare from the side, mumbling, "Though it was what David said. Hmpf."
Namini let out a relieved sigh before taking Hazeline's hands in hers and bowing her head graciously, "I'm so very very sorry about Prajna's behavior. I should have taught it better.. ...Perhaps we should take our leaves now? I'd hate to cause more trouble."
Prajna rolled its eyes. What trouble? Xiu simply did not like fun like Prajna did.

“I am sure that there’s no trouble caused. Right Xiu?” Hazeline asked as she stood beside her silent raevan. Extending a hand, Hazeline gave Xiu’s hand a comforting squeeze which only caused the white haired raven to stare blankly at it for a moment before returning his gaze to meet Prajna’s.
Confused thoughts were swimming within the recesses of Xiu’s mind as somewhere within him an internal battle of tolerance and pride took place. On one hand, his personal space had been breached in the most alarming way ever and on the other hand, Prajna was…young and had meant no harm in the act. That much Xiu could tell and now that he had been given a choice in the manner in which to accept the other’s apology; Xiu could either huff in self-righteous dignity or…
“It’s…alright, Prajna,” said Xiu softly. “Let’s not…dwell on it,”
Somewhere to his right, Xiu could hear Hazeline as she let out a sigh of relief.

Namini felt, with Hazeline's sigh and Xiu's acceptance, the tension relieve itself if only a little bit from the air. Prajna, on the other hand, continued to stare determinedly into Xiu's eyes, now confused and demanding an answer. One minute Xiu had been irritated by what Prajna found to be "fun" and then the next he was forgiving and.. Oh dear. Prajna felt the edges of its mouth pull downwards into a frown. He was like Namini. Too nice, too...
The Frei turned its attention for a split second to analysis Namini's face. Both its guardian and its newfound acquaintance wore the same mixed expression of concern and relief as a conclusion had been reached and Prajna decided it did not like this feeling, the feeling of being out of the loop. It crossed its arms defensively as it returned its glare back to Xiu. There was no denying it: Prajna had now reached a new level of respect and dislike for Xiu. He had simply been too..kind.
Childishly, Prajna stuck its tongue out at Xiu and mumbled something embarrassedly, " Fat idiot."
Luckily Namini had not been able to make out the comment but she took the hint. Grabbing one of Prajna's delicate hands, the brunette shot the other girl a warm smile before saying as sweetly as possible, "My my, it is getting late now isn't it? I'm sorry but we really must be going. Have a great day and I hope we can meet again soon. Goodbye."
She began to lead the hot headed Frei off but Prajna had other plans. One thing it had accomplished in the short time it had been with her was the use of her cell phone. Reaching into her purse, Prajna quickly found the pink flip phone and floated back to the other pair. It stared down at Hazeline, still frowning and refusing to look back at Xiu.
"Number. Save it." The demand was simple and..rude.
Namini stared for a few moments after her charge before racing over to it. She was definitely going to have to give Prajna a heavy scolding and lecture on courtesy when they got back home!

Fat idiot
Xiu’s wings immediately flared in anger at the insult. This was too much! Xiu had done what Hazeline had wanted him to do despite his own misgivings and now…now was he just supposed to float there and allow himself to be ridiculed by this…this…no-gender?
No he wasn’t!
“Well, you are no…,” Xiu remarked before realizing that Prajna was already being led away by his/her guardian before he had had time enough to think of an appropriate insult. Turning a shade redder in the face (in embarrassment?), Xiu crossed his arms and watched as the duo took their leave; no doubt feeling childish and silly. And it would seem that even feeling childish and silly was denied to him as Prajna, having free him/herself from his/her guardian was coming back and demanding Hazeline’s phone number no less. It was also obvious that Xiu was being blatantly ignored. With his arms still across his chest (with the exception that his hands were now gripping his sleeves with more vigor than was necessary), Xiu frowned at the red haired raevan with disapproval.
“Well, umm…sure,” said Hazeline feeling Xiu’s extreme but silent dispproval as she took out her own phone. Flipping it open, the young woman recited his phone number to Prajna. “Would that do?”

Prajna's fingers seemed to slide over the numbers effortlessly and rapidly, following Hazeline's recital perfectly. Just as it pushed the "Save" button on the little pink phone, Prajna felt a smirk tug at its features and Namini tug on its sleeve.
"Yes. Thank you," Prajna purred as Namini pulled harder on its sleeve, somewhat out of breath. The teen shot a desperately apologetic look to the other duo before bowing quickly and spewing out a million "I'm sorry"s in a row. Prajna simply chuckled softly before turning on point and beginning to float away.
"Prajna!" Namini hissed, her voice finally expressing some true form of anger. She followed the Frei irritatedly, making incredible hand motions as the distance between Hazeline and Xiu and them grew. One thing that could be clearly noted was oh yes, Namini was incredibly aggravated by her Frei. A good distance away and it was seen that Namini bopped Prajna gently on the head and Prajna accepted it, like the child that it was.
