Three nights. Three nights had passed since their hasteful retreat from the place they called home. And, if gargoyles could stir in their sleep, they would've caused earthquakes.

Cyrus was thinking again. His silent thinking is what had kept them alive. But then again, without his sisters ability to act upon those thoughts, survival would've been slim. He just wouldn't admit that.

As he glided through the night sky, sister not far behind, he snapped back into reality rather fast when he realized he was about to hit a tree.

"Woah!" He shouted and, luckily, dodged it just in time... By meeting the ground a little more intimately than he desired. Mmm. Dirt. Delicious.

No, he didn't sit up right away. Instead, he let the dirt embrace him for a short while.

"Fate doesn't hold me very high in it's favor..." He muttered, and lifted his face out of the ground... Looking just a liiiittle pissed.

Despite the stone sleep, Nasrin was exhausted. All she could manage to do was worry. She worried about the egg she clutched firmly in her arms. She worried about her brother. She worried about herself. She worried about how much longer it would be before they found some of their own kind... And what would happen when they did. Would they be accepted? Driven away? Nasrin was uncertain, and it was that uncertainty that was driving her crazy.

But, she had barely spoken of it past the moments before they had made their retreat from what had once been home, she doubted that Cyrus would want to hear it. Let alone as often as it came to mind.

She'd been staring absently at the passing ground when she'd heard him shout, and looked up with a start. Maneuvering around the tree that her brother had narrowly missed crashing into, she lowered from the air to land much more gracefully than he had.

Had this been four nights ago, she would have ridiculed him for his clumsiness. But, things were far from the same now.

"Are you alright, brother?" She asked softly, carefully as she noted his irritation. Nasrin hesitantly offered him a hand, positioning the egg in the crook of her other arm.

"Peachy." Honestly, did he look like he was alright? Though, Cyrus supposed she probably meant in the physical sense and not in the mental or spiritual sense. As carefully as she'd offered it to him, he took her hand and stood up. First instinct, to run fingers through his hair.

He didn't make an attempt to say anything. His eyes were busy examining the landscape again. And... He noticed something.

"Nasrin. Over there." His free hand pointed to the south. There were lights... Fires, probably. And you could faintly make out the image of structures. "Fly cautiously... We don't know if these are humans or gargoyles yet." Really, he should eat his words. Fly cautiously. Pfft.

One jump into the sky and he was off to see what may either be sanctuary or a nightmare.

Nasrin almost drew back when he snapped at her. Really, did he think it was her fault he nearly ran into the tree? She frowned lightly, but said nothing against it. He was surely as exhausted as she was, and his sour mood probably could have been blamed on stress.

Once she had helped him up, she followed her brother's gaze as he spoke to her and gestured a distance away. Nasrin saw the glowing of fire, and the looming silhuettes of... Something. Was it a human settlement? Or more of their own kind?

She wanted to protest, but hesitated. Before she could speak up, Cyrus had glided off again. She bit her lower lip, silently hoping that whatever they were blindly drawing close to would be safe. Situating the egg and wrapping both arms carefully around it once more to keep it from slipping in her grasp, Nasrin followed.

Meanwhile, in the grounds below...

"Aine! Aine! Lookit' what I caught!" The little girl yelled as she ran up to her friend with hands cupped together. Her voice, while childish, was very bold. In her hands was a little frog, who seemed awful calm to be so close to a human. That was Tilly. Taming the wild, one small creature at a time. And ruining her clothes in the process. "I'nt he cute?"

"What have you found this time, Tilly?"

The white skinned Gargoyle bent down closer to the girl's level, attempting to get a good look at what the child had caught. Aine wasn't surprised at all to see a small creature in Tilly's possession, and laughed softly at the tiny frog in her hands. "Adorable, dear." She agreed, patting her lightly atop the head. "You must not hold him for long though, if a frog's skin goes dry it will become sick." Sick was probably putting it lightly, but there was no need to be brutally honest about the consequences if the child did well to heed her warning.

"I can't imagine how your mother will scold you if we don't clean up those muddy clothes of yours before sunrise." She chuckled, "If there were but one puddle in the village, I'm sure you'd find it with no trouble."

The little girl almost squeeled with joy because of the pat. She'd done well! But upon hearing how her amphibian friend might be in danger, her eyes widened. "I don' want that!" Almost immediately, she sat the frog down in the grass and shooed him off. "Sorry Mr. Warty! Don' forget about me!"

The frog wasn't taking any second chances. It hopped off as quickly as possible, not even looking back.

When Aine pointed out the condition of her clothing, Tilly glanced down with a shrug. "They should know not to put me in 'is dress! S'only gonna get dirtier!" Her arms folded in front of her, and she held her nose to the sky... Which was coincidentally when she noticed two shapes flying through the air. "Are 'ey friends of yours?" Little Tilly asked with both curiosity and excitement, pointing upwards to the figures.

Aine shook her head, though continued to laugh lightly despite the gesture. "Whatever shall we do with you..." She murmured. It was a nightly task, trying to tidy the child up so that her parents would be none the wiser of her absence. One of these days they'd certainly notice that their child was dirtier than when they had tucked her in for bed.

At Tilly's gesture, Aine looked up into the sky curiously. She expected to see fellow clan members, so it surprised her a bit when she saw the unfamiliar pale figures in their strange attire. The Gargoyle shook her head, "'Fraid not, dear. I've never seen them before."

She ushered the child to come closer, extending a wing to shadow the girl. Only time would tell if these new Gargoyles were enemy or ally.

Tilly did not object when Aine brought her closer. Tilly was brave, but she realized how dangerous of a world this could be at times. As the strangers swooped in, the girl remained quiet and observed.

Cyrus carefully observed the setting as they came closer and closer. The structures that arose from the ground looked so... Alien to him. Such strange living quarters compared to where they'd come from...

It didn't take him long to spot the female gargoyle on the ground below. Quickly, he went through the scenario's of friend or foe, eying what he could from his altitude to determine if she might be friendly or... Well, otherwise. And while she had a sword, he realized she could've very well taken it out to defend this place if she considered them any threat.

Carefully, he gestured an arm back to his sister, asking her to follow him. His landing, while better than the previous one, still looked awkward to those who were more balanced. Twitching a nose, he dusted himself off. "Greetings." Were the first words out of his mouth directed towards the strangely dressed gargoyle. "I hope you don't mind our intrusion, but we've come from far away seeking a new home..."

To say that she was nervous was an understatement. Nasrin silently followed her brother in his descent, praying that he had some sort of plan. Surely he would, else he wouldn't have so willingly approached the figures below... Right?

She clutched the egg tighter against her chest, trying to calm her shaking. Her heart drummed so heard within her chest, she didn't seem to notice the thumping of something within the protective shell.

Once she had landed, Nasrin drew her wings around her, remaining a few feet behind her more confident brother.

She had watched them approach, showing no sign of fear nor anger. Upon inspection of them as they reached the ground... They were indeed unusual, foreign. The male looked as though he wasn't even used to gliding, and the female looked timid and lost.

Slowly, Aine's wing relaxed, dropping the shield around little Tilly. They did not seem to be a threat, though she'd keep her eyes trained on them in case something suddenly suggested otherwise. "You've nothing to apologize for." She offered softly, glance shifting from Cyrus, to Nasrin, and back again. Come seeking a new home? She thought on that idea for just a moment, and decided that it must be why they seemed so anxious. Aine smiled softly, hoping to ease any of their worries. "You have found a safe territory, friend. You've nothing to fear."

"Oh, what a relief." Cyrus said and let out a large sigh, letting himself slump over with arms dangling down. "I wasn't sure for a second. I mean, for a second I thought this place might've had hu-"

When little Tilly noticed Aine had dropped her protective shield, the girl quietly walked out of the shadows and stared up at the big male gargoyle. "'Ello stranger!" She called up to him with a wave, interrupting whatever he was about to say.

At that moment, Cyrus's eyes widened like a goat about to be attacked by a wolf. And almost a second after, he let out a scream like a little girl and began quickly walking backward. Only, he forgot to be cautious of his tail again, and ended up flat on his back.

Aine had tilted her head curiously as the male gargoyle had begun to speak of his fears. However, Tilly just as quickly stepped forward and cut him off.

And apparently, 'humans' just might have been the word about to leave his lips. Surely Tilly hadn't been that alarming. Initially, Aine looked startled by the reaction to the girl. Well, by his shout, really.

It was probably a miracle that Nasrin hadn't run for her life at her brother's scream. She scrambled backward out of his path, and looked fearfully toward the strangers when Cyrus had fallen out of her line of sight.

"I-Is... Is that a human?" She stammered.

"Indeed it is." Aine replied with a nod, eying the two with mild confusion. "She means no harm, and is but a child... May I ask why you're frightened of her?"

At first, Tilly could only think to raise an eyebrow at the gargoyle's harsh reaction toward her. But the more she thought about it, the more it amused her. She stood tall with her hands on her hips and her nose to the sky. "'Ats right! Lil' Tilly is someone to be 'fraid of!" She declared loudly and proudly.

Cyrus quickly sat up to get a better look at the 'monster' who he must've thought was going to eat him. His eyebrow raised. What a weird little creature. To Aine's question, Cyrus was about to say 'I'd never seen one before.' But quickly remembered that they were supposed to be lying about where they came from. "Our home was destroyed by humans..." He replied simply, looking up at her with sad eyes. Though, the sadness she might've confused for their 'destroyed' home was actually from fear of being called on his lie.

At Aine's reassurance that the child was harmless, Tilly slumped over. "Awww..." And at Cyrus's explanation, Tilly tilted her head. "Humans did 'at? How mean!" Her little face scrunched up at the thought and she took a few steps closer, patting Cyrus on the knee. "S'alright. I won't attack ya. 'Less ya make me mad."
