I know you guys have favorite rappers, and are possibly inspired by them in some way. But do you ever listen to the people that inspired your favorite rappers? I like that old s**t. Grew up on it. That "feel good" music. Recently, I've been listening to older music more than anything. Often times, you'll hear a line, a hook, and sometimes entire songs that was remade by rappers. It's not uncomm

Kurtis Blow - "The Breaks."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XiHEdKt5dEY&feature=related
Kurtis Blow - "Basketball." (Bow Wow used this song)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0yoPVAOJTk&feature=related
Grandmaster Caz - "South Bronx Subway Rap." (Nas used some of the melody in the into for Illmatic)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwAOMF5C2iU

Further back in time... the s**t that influenced early rap.

Frankie Smith - "Double Dutch Bus." (Missy Elliot used some of this)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kYtliQs0tc
George Clinton - "Atomic Dog." (Inspire Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LuyS9M8T03A&feature=related
Zapp & Roger - "More Bounce to the Ounce." Roger's talkbox inspired T-Pain to use the autotune)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOt7ybPZU3Y&feature=related
George Clinton & Parliament - "Flashlight."
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1cnaa12FIo
James Brown - "Say It Loud." (Inspired Public Enemy)

That's all for now, children. cool

Hell yeah. The West as a whole was greatly inspired by funk and soul. You can easily feel it in the music. That's what I love about the West. Even when it's gangsta, it's still that feel good music.

From 1992 on up, Westcoast has been more chill over all. You get albums like Illmatic and all, but over all, Westcoast has been more chilled. Go on youtube or something, and start looking up random songs and you'll see. Ever since Dre introduced G-funk, that's how it's been.

I'm not shocked that you're thinking about your parents conceiving you.
