An old abandoned airbase that was refurbished by the Baron Mercs once they got enough money to buy it, the base is simple and very clean, the mercs welcome anyone in, whether they're a client or just someone looking for a cold drink and some company. Every merc has his own room, and there's enough spare rooms to house half of Baron City's entire population. In the main hanger is the Baron's Wings, the flagship of the Baron Mercs.

The Baron mercs sat around in the mess hall, talking amongst themselves, eating, drinking, and having a good time. Zain sat in a small table in the corner, sipping his soda calmly, he never drank alcohol.
Rene walked up to Zain and sat across from him, "Come on, we did good! We beat the baddies and helped some people out, why are you so mopey?"
Zain sighed but smiled in spite of himself, "Dunno, just thinking I guess."

Cyrus walked into the mess hall and looked around.
((I want him to be a mercenary. He wields a crossbow but excels as a pilot. You can choose whether he's new or he's an old part of the team. Okay?))

Cyrus' gaze centered on Zain. "Yeah," he replied, "I'd like to join. Flying's all I'm good at. You need a pilot?" The crossbow strung across Cyrus' back was a testament to his prowess with the weapon, so he wasn't useless in a fight, either.

Cyrus shrugged. "I'm good at not missing when I shoot. And not just with crossbows. I don't know any magic, but for normal skills, I'm a pretty fast learner. After a week of practice, I could probably learn how to use any weapon."
Straight to business; no beating around the bush. Cyrus liked that about Zain. A no-nonsense attitude, down-to-earth and realistic. Cyrus tried to be this direct himself, most of the time.

Zain nodded, "All right, you're in by trust, that means you stick with us for a few missions, if you do well you stay." He didn't have to say what would happen if he didn't do well, it should have been obvious.
Rene grinned, "Welcome to the Baron Mercenaries." she said warmly. A cheer rose up from the rest of the mercs and Cyrus was immediately offered food, drink, and a seat.

Cyrus couldn't help but smile as he was cheered for, even if the thought was rather mortifying to him. So Cyrus partook of the food, the drink, and the seat, so to speak, and gave every person looking a nod and a smile, but being somewhat quiet himself. Cyrus preferred to listen to others. You learned more that way.
Cyrus was glad that he had something to occupy himself. He hoped to do well in this job. Being busy, always busy, had its own advantages. It helped you not think about the past....

Zain glanced at Rene, "What do you think?" he asked.
Rene shrugged, "Seems nice enough, quiet though, of course if we questioned the past of everyone who wanted to join we wouldn't have anyone working with us now would we?"
Zain chuckled quietly, "Very true."

Cyrus glanced at Zain until he held the gaze. They talked about him like he wasn't there. A chuckle couldn't help but escape from Cyrus. They would be tough on him. That was good. "So, when can I start doing something? I like to keep busy...."

Zain shrugged, "We're waiting for a job to come in, we're usually more active then this, been kinda lazing around lately," He grinned and gestured around at all the mercs, and spoke a bit louder, "And all these guys are gettin' lazy and slow!" All the mercs had a laugh at that and one called from the back, "It's been a day and you're already on us!" The laughing continued.
Rene heard a call from the phone on the wall went quiet as Rene picked up, "This is the Baron Mercs. you got the cash we'll do the job."

Cyrus nodded. "Well... I won't let any of you down. That's a promise." The only thing that worried Cyrus was how he was absolutely horrible at the lying game. They ask about his past, and he would provide them with shaky answers. But Cyrus didn't think they were the type to force themselves onto every members' personal life. They did seem to be a close-knit group, however.

Rene listened and nodded, speaking a few more things before saying, "All right, we'll take care of it ma'am." She hung up the phone and grinned at the mercs, "We got a job guys, let's get ready to move on out."

SuperNerd000 Halen Sanctuary is a true sanctuary... it's extremely well-defended walls mean it is impervious to attack. If you try to attack the town or start a major fight, the town's defenses will kill the aggressor. ((Fatal would not go there. And I'm surprised the mercs would, if any kind of fight would result in death.)) Cyrus checked his crossbow. That was the only thing he needed. "What do you want me to do," he asked, "if anything?"
