A small boat was currently sending ripples over the pond, the tall pirate of a Namir wrestling with one end to get it into the water. She grinned and finally shoved it all the way into the water, then turned to await the arrival of her mate, holding one paddle in her hand as a salute.

Romsca bounded along the shore of the lake, seeing the boat and its companion still a ways away. He wanted to call out, but he wanted to save his breath for running; besides, Treasure wouldn't leave without him, he was sure. He sprinted the rest of the way and tried to stop and shout a hello, but he found himself with too much momentum and as he skidded, he went right past Treasure and the boat and fell into the water with a splash. He surfaced, wet and grinning sheepishly. "'allo, Treasure." XD

Her eyes caught sight of a figure running across the shoreline and she held up the paddle to wave as he got closer. Treasure blinked and turned her head to watch Romsca slide past her and into the lake, waiting until he finally said hello to burst out laughing. "'A-allo mihearty," she giggled, reaching down a hand to help pull him up, "Ye know we have th' boat so we dun get wet, ryght?"
Speaking of the boat she noticed it beginning to drift away on the waves Romsca's little dip had caused. She grinned at it and extended her other hand with the paddle to hook the side of it and draw it closer, accidentally leaning too far forward in doing so and falling into the water next to Romsca. "Bilgewater!" she spluttered, surfacing next to her mate with a smile, "I should take me own advice, should'ne I?"

Giggling in turn, Romsca fixed Treasure with a beady, dripping eye. "You've got sea legs. What's my excuse?" He stood up and shook himself hard, until his fur was merely damp and stuck out everywhere. "Ah well, we can get dry in the boat, right? The sun can dry us off, and at least we won't get all salty." He clambored into the boat unsteadily, trying to get into a comfortable position as it rocked back and forth. He bent his legs every which way and made a surprised face. "Dang, how do you stay put in this thing?"

Treasure laughed, climbing in after him and sticking the oar in the sand to hold the boat steady until Romsca got situated. "Practice and balance," she grinned, "Dun worry, we'll get ye yer sealegs yet, mihearty!" With that she pushed off, sending the boat drifting only a little wobbily, thanks to Romsca's staggering, into the deeper parts of the lake. She smiled at his crazy fur and shook her hair out similiarly, some of the ends flicking back to stick to her face as she grinned out from under them at Romsca.

Romsca plunked his backside down and shifted himself from side to side until he was sure he had the rhythm of the boat down and he wouldn't tip it right over if he moved at all. He beamed at Treasure and laughed as he saw ehr hair sticking out just like his. "We look like we're trying to form a band. 'The Bilgerats'; how's that sound?" He looked about him, including down in the murky lake water, fancying he could spot the gleam of a few fish swimming around, then finally up at the sun, shining merrily upon the whole world. "We should be dry in no time if the sun stays out like this."

"'Th' Bilgerats'?" Treasure laughed, "Now 'at is a good name fer 'un!" She kept a hand on the oar and sat in the bottom of the boat, sighing happily at the feel of a keel rocking beneath her paws once again. "Aye, in no tyme at all," she said, unable to keep the small lilt of longing for salt sticking to her hair after the water had evaporated from her voice.
The was beautiful, she thought, but it was only a child compared to the sea. She brightened, reminded of their trip to Never Never Land. Every one needed to be a child at times.

Romsca chuckled. "Well, I don't know as many piratey terms as you do. Or my son. Or daughter. Geez, everyone in my family knows more pirate than me!" XD He sighed and smiled, letting the sun dry his fur. Unlike Treasure, he didn't have a terrible longing for the sea; he did think it was pretty though, and romantic. And with all the adventures lurking on and inside of it, it was no wonder his children had gone off to explore it. He was just glad his mate hadn't followed suit and left him all alone. He too began to think of their little adventure in Neverland. He remembered how blue the sea had looked; a perfect match for the sky. Come to think of it, he would probably rather fly than sail. So much to see and do; almost as much as on the sea. He brought his mind back down to Namiah and smiled at Treasure. "You know, the way this thing moves, you could almost fall asleep in it."

Watching her mate, Treasure layed back happily in the bottom of the boat, letting the waves rock them gently. "Ye could," she said with a yawn, "'At's what I lyke about calm days..." Of course, in an instant you could be caught in a squall and have all hands running across the deck to secure everything and haul the rigging with the wind. But this was a small little lake, not the grand ocean.
"Ye know what I lyke best about sailin'?" she asked, her thoughts trailing along the same path as Romsca's, "On a clear day with a good wind ye kin sit up in th' riggin' and th' whole sea'll be beneath ye, rushin' by lyke yer and th' boat's just flying along, tied back by no one and no thin'." She laughed, since she would never have admitted anything like that openly to her crew members without expecting roaring laughter to follow it.
That was when she was still a pirate, though. The thought saddened her; she was not a pirate anymore. She was still very much attached to the sea and, of course, rum, but she had put her days of outbound adventuring behind. Now the only boat she had gotten on in over a year was the little rowboat she was currently sitting in. A small sigh escaped her lips when she thought about all she had left behind, forcing her to turn her thoughts to all that she would leave behind now if she would go back to pirating on the sea.
She had never expected to fall in love after she was shipwrecked on this island of Namiah. Nor had she expected to have children she could call her own likkle pirates, or all of the little adventures she had shared with Romsca. Her children had taken to the sea to explore, and that was her legacy as a pirate, that and the name Locker. "Ye know what we should name our next likkle pirate when we have 'em?" she said abruptly, grinning slightly, "Peter."
Romsca would probably think as in 'Peter Pan', which was fine with her, but it was really a reference to the name she had taken when she first began pirating. Her little grin stayed on her face as she waited to hear what he thought about the name.

Romsca nodded and happily continued to soak up the sun, then he heard Treasure's small sigh. He had been relaxing with his eyes closed; now he opened one eye and looked over at her. "You really miss the sea, don't you?" He didn't know what else to say really; he had heard of people who had become so attached to the sea that they never again got used to land, and always pined for the open waters. It made him feel a little sad, thinking that he was, in a way, keeping her from something that she deeply desired.
He wondered if a compromise could be reached. He always liked places with grass and trees and solid ground to play on. The only thing he could think of that met halfway was an island, and the only island he knew of was Neverland. Always back to that place. He could see why so many children strived to get there.
Speaking of which......he grinned at Treasure's spoken thought of new names for new kids. "Didn't have enough the first time eh? Peter sounds like a nice name, though it doesn't sound very piratey. Then again, every pirate has a first name that they don't always go by. Like James." ^^

Treasure nodded, "Aye." Her gaze drifted over to meet his and she gave him a small grin. "But ye know, if I returned to it I'd miss ye even more, Mi big soft hearty," she said, settling back again to close her eyes and enjoy the feel of the small breeze that drifted across her face. She loved the sea, yes, but she was content now to simply be able to gaze upon it from her cliffside home in the lagoon.
Her eyes blinked open again. "The lagoon," she repeated, "I haven't taken ye there, have I?" It was her own little seaside retreat, with sparkling aquamarine waters, a waterfall to dive off of, a path back up to the seagrass filled plateau above, forest just beyond that for safe shelter when the sea's became angry, and a small path just down the shore that lead to a nearby apple tree she liked to climb and eat in.
She wondered why she hadn't taken Romsca there before, but realised it had probably been because of the path that she had made to the apple tree. When she hadn't been able to catch Romsca's eye at first she had hung out with another Namir named MacCloud, nothing had really happened between them, but he had helped her find her way back from the mountain and they had constructed the path to the apple tree together.
MacCloud was the first other than Chaos to know of her little retreat, though that was mainly because she had been lost for so long on the mountain that home was really the only thing she wanted to see. Her pirate ways were to never look back, and she never doubted her feelings for Romsca, so she wondered why it would bother her.
A small frown took over her mouth for a moment but was quickly lost in a smile as Romsca responded to her musing about a name. "Or Ginger," she snickered slightly, remembering one of her former crewmembers. Her tone turned slightly serious as she recalled the other pirate to mind, now rotting in Davy Jones' Locker, "But we can't name one of them that." And she let her thoughts be occupied by other possible future names.

Romsca smiled teasingly at Treasure. "You sure? The sea seems like a pretty neat place, though you probably can't find many namrah around on the open ocean." He would in fact be pretty sad if Treasure ever decided to go back to the sea; he had seen his adopted brother Drizzt become sad and confused when his mate had vanished, and he didn't think his happy personality would survive something like that.
"A lagoon?" Romsca cocked his head, "No, I don't believe you have. Is it like the ocean?" He knew what a lagoon was, but he couldn't recall ever seeing one. He knew that it was used for relaxation and scenic views, but that was about all he knew. But knowing Treasure, it had to remind her of the sea somehow, for her to like it so and be reminded of it when they had spoken of the sea.
Romsca sat up just then and took up an oar. "Would we be able to row there from here?"

"Nah, 'twould be too lonely now; I'd have te kidnap Mihearty and make 'im come wit' me," she grinned, jabbing him lightly in the ribs to show she was joking about forcing him to go to sea. She really was happy with her life now, she knew she wouldn't be able to sail the seas forever, and though she would never truely leave it, just being near it to breath the salty air and maybe go for a swim occasionally was enough.
Her laugh caused her to lose track of her thoughts again, "'Tis right next te the sea, me silly landlubber, ye kin see it from the waterfall, in fact." She paused to look thoughtful when he mentioned rowing to it. "I beleive this stream connects te the river I follow te get there, I bet we could!" she cried the last part in excitement, snatching up her own oar and turning to place it in the water.
Eyes sparkling as she looked back over to Romsca, she asked, "Ye ready fer a likkle adventure, Mihearty?"

Romsca was actually glad that Treasure was joking; he loved her very much, but the thought of having no trees or grass made him afraid he would wilt, like a flower in the wrong sort of soil. He found himself remembering a phrase he had heard someplace, a long time ago: A bird may love a fish, but where would they build a home together? Still, if it came to that, for Treasure, he would at least try.
He returned Treasure's eager expression and took up his own oar. "I reckon I'm up for a grand old adventure; after all, our kids are off having their own adventure, and what boring old codgers we'd be if we didn't have our own story to swap with them when they return!" He positioned the oar in his paws, looked back at the direction they were heading and beamed at Treasure. *WHat are we waiting for? Let's go!"

"Aye," she laughed, "Lets!" Her excitement still building, she swept her oar easily through the water, moving her side of the boat along at a steady pace. She had to pause though, to match her timing to Romsca's and try to match the strength he used to row his own oar. It wouldn't do them any good to simply row in circles.
What adventure would they have today? she kept repeating over and over in her mind, not realy caring about the answer as long as once again she was able to adventur with Romsca. It had been so long since she had seen her Hearty that she had begun to imagine her own heart was gone. She paused in her rowing a little, cocking her head to the side and looking over at Romsca.
"Ye know," she said, "I cannot love with Miheart, so ye better stick around so I kin still love me Sea." Her voice was serious but her eyes were playful and soft, trying to convey that without him by her side it would be worthless for her to even try going to sea. She loved him more. It was a sudden realization, and one that expanded quickly to include their children, but it was one she was happy with.
